This is from the 90’s. they exploded in the early 80’s . In no particular ranking- 1.Hungry Like the Wolf 2. Rio 3. The Reflex 4. Notorious 5. I don’t want your Love . 6. Save a prayer 7. View to a kill 8. Is there something i should know. 9. Girls on film.
Duran Duran went from one era to another to another flawlessly... This era is their best IMHO.... Ordinary World is my favorite DD song and from this album
Nice spotting of the Bass. When in 90s era Duran Duran, John Taylor was playing in the pocket, siting in the mix. While in their early heyday John Taylor's basslines were mid heavy, cutting through the mix, impossible to miss or ignore. 3rd best bassist to come out of "New Wave"
I would be interested in hearing who you think the top 4 bassists from New Wave genre are... I actually think from the top of my head that John is the best...his groves in Robert Palmer's band are awesome.
@@robertevans2450I agree that John Taylor is the best in my book. However, he never played in Robert Palmer's band. If you are referencing The Power Station this was John Taylor's idea & he co-founded this project with Chic's drummer Tony Thompson & later got Duran Duran's guitarist Andy Taylor to join & Duran Duran's drummer Roger Taylor to play percussion. The original idea for The Power Station was for John Taylor & Thompson to do a one-off cover of T.Rex's Get It On. It then turned into an album concept to get various singers to sing different songs on the album. They liked what Robert Palmer did with some of their songs & decided to have him sing on the entire album & the rest, as they say, is history.
Duran Duran were a solid act in the early 80’s London club scene. Their mixture of punk sounds with pop music writing style made their sound. Planet Earth is the song that best represents their early work. It defined all of their following work. A great four piece band, all good in their own right rights. Nick Rhodes and Simon Le Bon are pop geniuses. Song writing. A discography to discover.
Planet Earth did not "define" all of their work. It defined their sound for their debut album in 1981 at best. And their sound was not so much a mixture of "punk" with "pop music." Their sound was a confluence of rock, glam, disco and electronica for their first couple of albums & then their sound started to evolve as it has for each & every album ever since. Since their debut single & album (1981), Duran Duran was known as a five-piece band & through breakups & lineup changes evolved into a trio multiple times & a five piece multiple times & has been a quartet since 2007. The entire band writes their music & is involved in the production & recording process so the band is not limited to Nick Rhodes & Simon Le Bon being "pop geniuses." John Taylor, Roger Taylor & Andy Taylor carry this attribute just as equally as the aforesaid. And you can add Warren Cuccurullo, who was a member of DD (1990-2001), as part of the writing, producing & recording process during The Wedding Album, which produced the tracks Ordinary World & Come Undone.
The Duran Duran song you did before this, Ordinary World, is my favorite. You should listen to the earlier songs, Hungry Like the Wolf, Rio, Is There Something I Should Know, A View to a Kill, Notorious.... Great band!
Duran duran is 1 of the best pop-rock music bands since 1980. The have a lot of good songs. Wild boys, The reflex, new moon on monday, Rio, but the sound change in live concerts
The bass was created & programmed by Nick Rhodes (Duran Duran's keyboardist) & their album's co-producer with Duran Duran, John Jones. Duran Duran is known for their basslines because of their bassist John Taylor- but this was one of the few & rare songs that does not have Taylor playing the bass on.
Bisscute you need to watch the concert version of this. Those background vocals you here is Lamya. A Kenyan born beauty. She does a solo at the end of the song. Too bad she left us too soon at 35. She has a great voice and i am sure you like her solo.
There are various concert versions of Come Undone, mate. I'd suggest being more specific when suggesting songs to reactors. The song has been around since 1993 and the band has done a multitude of world concert tours & live performances between then and now. You are absolutely right about Lamya's vocals but song's overall performance and the show is just as phenomenal. The live show you are referencing is Duran Duran's acoustic performance on MTV's Unplugged TV show in November 1993.
This song means so much to me. It released at an extremely pivotal time of my like for two very different reasons. 1. Simon’s voice still sounds amazing, to this day 2. If you like the subtle bass in this tune, just search TH-cam for John Taylor bass videos. He’s an incredible bassist
Ah Duran Duran that takes me back to buying their debut album Planet Earth in 1981 when I was a very young aged 16. Played that vinyl to death loved it and and for me heralded the sound of the 80s.
Credit to Warren Cuccarullo on guitar for this album. He came up with some lush guitar parts. He started with Frank Zappa , went on to form Missing Persons , then took over for Andy Taylor in Duran Duran.
Come Undone is a single by the British band Duran Duran, released on March 29, 1993 as the second extract from the seventh studio album Duran Duran (The Wedding Album). After the commercial success of Ordinary World, it became the second consecutive single of the new album in the US Top 10.
Love the way u say drrrrrrrrrran drrrrrrrrrran!! Prefer this more mature Duran Duran than the earlier pretty boy stuff from the 80s but that period was when they were at their peak!
One of my all-time favorite songs from DD, coming from a more mature band. I love how meloncholy, almost haunting it is- awesome arrangement as well as the female vocal.
1) You said "subtle" correctly. 2) I've always been of the opinion that John Taylor is one of the best bassists ever. Rio, Hungry Like the Wolf, and Girls on Film are some songs he really shines on.
If memory serves, the other song you did was Ordinary World which if form the same album as Come Undone. Their peak was during the 80s and there is no shortage of amazing songs from back them : - Planet Earth - Careless Memories - Girls On Film - Rio * - Hungry Like The Wolf * - Hold Back The Rain - New Religion - Save A Prayer (Til The Morning After) * - The Chauffeur * - The Seventh Stranger - New Moon On Monday * - Union Of The Snake * - The Reflex * - The Wild Boys * - A View To A Kill * * = absolute MUST-LISTEN!!
'Rio' is one of their earlier hits, John Taylor on bass really shines on this song with his syncopation and ghost notes. I think the lead singer Simon LeBon got into sailing as a result of the video they shot for Rio - it features them on yacht. He ended up doing a round the world yacht race.
Hooray! My favourite Duran Duran song! Love this so much! For another great song of theirs from 1982, check out "Save A Prayer". Duran Duran were one of the biggest bands in the world in the 80s, everyone knew who they were and many kids had their posters up on walls.
One of my favorites 80's and 90"s band and one of my favorites songs form 90's.❤ I also love Ordinary World, is a song it will grown on you if you keep listening and understanding the meaning.
Duran Duran was huge in the 80s! Then they made a resurgence with this album which was self titled. However, it's also known as the "Wedding Album". It's phenomenal throughout. I actually got to see them live during this tour. One of the best concerts I've ever been to. Anyway, if you dig this, you might want to checkout "Leave a Light On" by Duran Duran, "Too Much Choice" by Love & Rockets, "Sodium Light Baby" or "Helpline Operator" by The The, "Hypnotized" by Simple Minds, "Life's What You Make It' by Talk Talk and "How Soon Is Now?" by The Smiths just to name a few. Love your reactions, by the way.
Also also, this song came out when I was in middle school and my grandma watched MTV all day to be able to catch it and record it on VHS for me to watch anytime ❤
Duran Duran was a very popular band during the early years of MTV back when they used to only videos. I believe the first video was Rio. Hungry like the Wolf was a good song. You can't go wrong with The Reflex as well.
The first video is Planet Earth (February 1981). Rio is from Duran Duran's second album also called Rio & released in May 1982. The single/song Rio (November 1982) is Duran Duran's 7th video with Hungry Like The Wolf (May 1982) being their 5th.
This was the best 10 minutes of my Saturday listening to your reaction, thank you! I love Duran Duran, they were a staple in the 80's and early 90's...love this song!!!...Take a listen to "Hungry Like The Wolf" from their early 80's...
I remember when that first played on MTV Catchy tune with some edge. I always connect it with Jam & Spoon "Right in the Night" from the same year - same feel
Great song from one of my favorite bands Bisscute. I highly suggest "The Reflex" "Electric Barbarella" "Too Much Information" "Falling Down" "Rio" "Wild Boys" "Union Of The Snake" "Hungry Like The Wolf" and "New Moon On Monday." For Sting, I suggest "Fortress Around Your Heart."
I find it interesting that you didn't really like Ordinary World from your first reaction, but loved Come Undone. Those two tracks are both standouts from the same album in my opinion. This is Duran Duran's more mature sound, which came out in the early 1990s, leaving behind the catchy electronic pop sounds of the 1980s. It was their album RIO that I purchased as my first ever album back in 1983, and I have been a fan ever since. Simon Le Bon has a fantastic voice. The Reflex and Save a Prayer are favourites of mine, but to be honest, I enjoy all of their songs. I love your reactions, always a pleasure seeing you, thank you.
I'd only attribute this sound as being more mature because the band members are older and in their 30's in when this song was produced & released (1992/1993). Skin Trade, in 1986, was a more mature sound, if you will, that the band achieved six/seven years prior to Ordinary World & Come Undone. And this was just three years removed from The Reflex. Also, Too Late Marlene from their Big Thing album released in 1988 has a jazz influenced mature sound, as well as, several other tracks from the Big Thing album. The Liberty album, released in 1990, has the tracks Liberty & My Antarctica, which also can be considered a "mature sound" for the band. The "mature" sound was prevalent many, many years before Ordinary World & Come Undone.

this album (The Wedding Album which featured pictures of the band members' parents wedding) was early 90s and felt like a resurgence of Duran Duran after they were massive in the 80s. Check out Ordinary World on this album, another really beautiful song

Killing it with the selection and reactions !!! Duran Duran have some of the greatest bangers out there, for instance the song “careless memories”….. it’s a MUST! Different sound from this song but amazing nonetheless from their debut album.
Good reaction to Duran Duran, also a good song. Otherwise, the song I think is the best is "A View To A Kill", the theme music for the Bond film of the same name. Other songs are "Girls On Film", "Electric Barbarella" and "Wild Boys". Good job, keep going. 😉❤
One of my favorite Duran Duran songs, along with Save a Prayer, Union of the Snake, Ordinary World, and New Moon on Monday.' Sidenote: Side projects of the band include The Power Station, and Arcadia.
You can also add John Taylor's solo projects, Simon Le Bon's solo endeavors, Nick Rhodes' solo ventures, Roger Taylor's DJing & Andy Taylor's solo work, Plus, Neurotic Outsiders, Astronomia, TV Mania & The Devils.
I like how you pick up on those subtle (yes you pronounced it correctly) sounds like the bass in this song. The mark of a true music fan. This is 1 of my favorite Duran Duran songs probably because it came out when I was a freshman in high school
@@taoist32 I understand that. I'm a big fan of Tool. I didn't initially like Lateralus when it came out and now it's 1 of my most prized albums in my vinyl collection
This is a good one from them, but like the last one, it is from their early 90s stuff. Which isn't a bad thing. I like their stuff from then, and like these two songs of theirs, but it is a little bit different from their 80s era stuff, which is when they were really big. So, you might want to check out any of their songs from the 80s, just to see something different from the two you've already seen. Maybe, "Hungry Like The Wolf" or "Rio".
That original song you listened to called Ordinary World, I beg of you to listen to it again off camera without the video and read the lyrics as you do. I think you might change your mind. It's one of my all-time favorite songs. Thank you.
She has already reacted to Ordinary World and according to this reaction, she prefers Come Undone. Now I really like CU but imho OW is just on another level of greatness.
I've watched your channel for a long time, and when I saw the ORDINARY WORLD reaction I was going to recommend this song, but I thought you'd already done it. This is the first song that I liked by them, all the earlier stuff was HUGE, but different demographic from my preferences
I was going through my first real breakup during this song, so it hits me a bit harder. I personally like the 90’s Duran Duran a bit more than the 80’s. I know, sacrilege!
New Moon On Monday!!!
Don't forget Wild Boys:)
Union of the snake
Planet Earth
All She Wants Is
And then add in Arcadia and Power Station
Duran Duran went from one era to another to another flawlessly... This era is their best IMHO.... Ordinary World is my favorite DD song and from this album
The guitar in that one is hauntingly beautiful.
such an amazing song, makes me nostalgic as a kid from the early 90s
"The Reflex" was one of their mega hits in the '80s (or so I heard). 😂 🎶
Never liked it. They had better ones in the 80´s.
@@AndrewSkinburnIt was still one of their biggest hits meaning many, many others did like it, also.
"Careless Memory" "Planet Earth" and "Hungry Like the Wolf" all DURAN DURAN classics Biss!

This is my all time favorite Duran Duran song. Also Bad Omens does a pretty good cover of this
One of my favorite Duran Duran songs, along with Save a Prayer, Union of the Snake, Ordinary World, and New Moon on Monday.'
Sidenote: Side projects of the band include The Power Station, and Arcadia.
I was in college when this came out, and I didn’t like it at first. I was used to their type of music in the 80’s.
@@taoist32 I understand that. I'm a big fan of Tool. I didn't initially like Lateralus when it came out and now it's 1 of my most prized albums in my vinyl collection
@@jasonhawes9654 Tool seems to remake themselves almost every album, like Sound Garden.
H7 biss, my top 3 vids to watch, hungry like the wolf, rio good bass and sax, and reflex 👍
Next - *Duran Duran - Wild Boys (Long Arena Version)*
I've always added my own beat box to this tone
nice song
Привет, красотулька,😊 бисквит- песня огонь!!!🤟Из Алтая 🏔с приветом!
Thank you.
I think you'd really like their song Ordinary World, it's in a similar style/vibe to this one as opposed to their earlier 80's songs
She has already reacted to Ordinary World and according to this reaction, she prefers Come Undone. Now I really like CU but imho OW is just on another level of greatness.
You always looking so beautiful 💘💘 love your reactions ❤
Beautiful young lady ❤😊duran duran fàv band in 80s❤
I've watched your channel for a long time, and when I saw the ORDINARY WORLD reaction I was going to recommend this song, but I thought you'd already done it. This is the first song that I liked by them, all the earlier stuff was HUGE, but different demographic from my preferences
Thanks good 90s song u r welcome
❤
I was going through my first real breakup during this song, so it hits me a bit harder. I personally like the 90’s Duran Duran a bit more than the 80’s. I know, sacrilege!
"Come Undone" (Unplugged 1993) with Lamya ..
This song was HUGE in my "CLUBBIN" days, seems so long ago 😂
