i really enjoyed this video civics are such quick cars when modded like this, i own a nissan skyline and go to track days alot and some of the civics are so quick, did really well to keep up and take a few skylines on the corners, obviously the skylines are far supirior but major props to that civic it was awsome, screamer pipe on the skylines sounds awsome!
@whitepowa its a 1800cc engine the type R version if im not mistaken came with a b18c5 engine so that would be 1.8 l 4 cyl DOHC vtec and it says that has a turbo so maybe is making like 280 or 300 hp could be more...
the funny thing is is that skylines are AWD for one and im sure there would be restrictions where a civic wouldnt have to compete against a skyline unless they were in the same HP class
gotta love these little frankstein backyard builds that go quick. "I traded a gallon of milkl, a box of crayons and a subway sammich for my car, yet I kept up with your GTR" hahah love it. I'm going to look at an EG civic TODAY!! Excited.
one thing I always find on these track videos with the honda's especially these hatches (ef,eg,ek) is that drivers are very good drivers as well and I think that comes with trying to tame a fwd beast such as this! X2 for honda!! And I own a 180sx by the way also with me eg 94 hatch
I would love to do this in my del sol built d16z6 making 300whp @ 10psi (low boost) and it doesn't put up that much resistance through the apex and exit so it might catch them coming through the straightaways not too sure though the ek9 is beast in stock form so boosted with suspension might make it faster
@XdisXnikkaX with wat? the stock b16 engine from the ctr? or the k20?. Im from AU maybe the prices might differ, but to even get that k20 it costs almost 6 grand for us, race cam over here, im checking the price as im typing this btw, buddy club racing spec camshaft 950, fujitsubo exhaust 925 and the intake 250. alredi its more then 2 grand, and that wont get you 300+ NA, close yeh but over that? no.
@amokachi31 yep. at 6:40 you can see that the r33 has potential but the guy slowed down because he got scared of the turn and the r34 ahead. That was actually a good chance to overtake the civic. Overall, dang.... a civic racing skylines, rx-7, 240sx, etc...
There's also a huge weight difference that the BNR34's have to compensate for on the corner's as well though, considering they weigh in at 3400lbs without weight reduction.
@tribaldrummergod The race was against skyline GTST's theyre rear wheel drives not AWD eitherway they were all mildly tuned, this battle was to prove a fwd can keep up with rwd. If you dont believe me look at how all the skylines swinging all over the place
yeah i know eh, i thought it would have struggled through the corners being fwd with tht much power, only place fwd seemed to matter was the start line launch.
Crucial part of AWD vs. 4WD is transfer case. AWD has none, as power is continuously transferred to both the front and rear axle at a constant percentage.
@avengedman666 thats what i was saying. if you want to really compare motors, you have to race them against each other in the same type of car/setup. you cant say k20 is slow because a GSR swapped civic beat a 2880lb 06 Si with a k20.
This car is LIGHT, plus it's definitely a seriously built engine and turbo charged. It's got a very aggressive chassis set-up and a driver that knows the car VERY well. It's like an rapier in the hands of a very skilled fencer vs. a bunch of body builders holding broad swords!
i was talking bout the b18c5 ITR motor not the gsr, both b18c5 and k20a are amazing motors, true testament to the k20a is that spoon took out the b18c5 and started using the k20a, but i mean driver skill is the number one key to speed, i mean this guy in the video is proof of that
There's a reason why even though I love Nissans, I still think Hondas are great. FWD isn't really my thing, but skill will make it perform very well as demonstrated here.
thats a 1.6L possibly a 1.8L turbo fwd civic up against SKYLINES. are you kidding me! thats one bad ass civic and driver. those 2 rx-7's were no joke though, they were gone without hesitation. good vid.
nice show of rear v front wheel drive, sharp slow turns favour rear drive on exit. longer wider turns might favour the civic maaaaybe. very enjoyable vid thanks!
@XdisXnikkaX i alredi guessed he prob spent around 5grand on engine modifications, and then roughly another 3 grand or so on suspensions and chassis upgrades, and then almost 2 grand for the bucket seats and other minor interior parts. The other 10 as far as i know was the costs of importing the engine over and having it fitted in the car, yeh might sound bull for that engine but over here those engines go for alot because of our laws on new drivers and turbo cars.
when a heavier car is hitting a turn at a high velocity the momentum plus the weight takes the car off course...the civic had no problems hitting those curves because u can trust it coming at a high rate of speed...in the case of the skylines, they lack the suspension set up...with great tires plus a well tuned suspension and weight reduction, those skylines would have had no trouble in those curves...I saw an ITR with a stock motor but a $8000 suspension system takes out sum powerful S2K's...
@XdisXnikkaX You really think so? From what i've read taking a ek9 to over 400hp costs about 40-50k alone on engine upgrades. Could probably be done cheaply, but without uprated internals the thing wont last very long i guess.
@Rasenga if I remeber correcty the power to weight was better on the usdm 1 but I think the jdm 1 had a better suspension and brakes which makes it better in my eyes and they are both sexy but the jdm look is just too sexy lol
@ZEN824 doesn't matter. it cant keep up with gt cars on high speed corners. only if civic had rwd or 4wd and longer wheelbase.... but then it wouldn't be a civic:-)
@USDMek4door ok. as an F1 fan and as a ferrari fan I can say that last season ferrari was pretty slow according to their rivals. but were they really slow comparing to a family car? same here in the vid. they are fast but comparing to others some of them were slow. what about the others those were lost from the sight of the camera?
@gokuman63 I see the point, hoda's are great for tunning and they are very lightweigt, skylines are just massive cars compared to a civic, but to me a skyline is in icon of a car in street racing and i would rather have an skyline then a Lambo, that is my point. Respect for your honda. :)
this car has a b16b that has been bored/stroked to 1800cc and turbo charged to 480+bhp, it's not vtec thats keeping it with the back skylines it's forced induction, if it was converted to 4wd then it would be a track monster, cannot get the power down as early as the skyline but a serious little car all the same
Of course not, but you don't need to spend 100k on a skyline to make it that fast. Few engine mods, fuel management, turbo, intercooler etc etc. Coilovers, exhaust, roll bars. throw 25k into a skyline and you are sitting at 600bhp. But to get a civic to 400+ hp and make it so it dosent explode as soon as you turn it on takes a lot more money
when you race motor to motor you have to make sure the only difference in the cars is the motor, same suspension, wheels, tires, interiors, the only difference should be one has a k20 and one b18, like the b vs k thing in super street didnt really prove anything cuz they were all different models setups and motors,
@icedstar yeah...that's what i was asking...can't believe it is a 1600cc lol...maybe it is some kind of engine swap or something...If there's not...that is a Beast talking about HP per litre
Too hard to make power on those high end cars because of the short corners. The Civic stayed with in its power band the whole time, letting it keep up with the high end cars. You notice that they pull away on the short straight a ways.
that is one hell of a ride!ive seen this race before...but not from this point.....can you prove this is a civic?...actually you dont need 2 bvecause i heard the gearbox........the driver is very good.....
no disrespect man... but it's a FF. so it's gotta be the slowest on the corner.. and if you're at disadvantage already, why not make the hp a lil more so u can at least take over on the straights because the corner isn't your forte?
Fantastic clip, one of the best car clips I have ever seen on TH-cam, Thankyou for posting,
Wow that white skyline completely took me by surprise, I guess the red one lost all hope lol.
Still quite an amazing job mate ^.^
i really enjoyed this video civics are such quick cars when modded like this, i own a nissan skyline and go to track days alot and some of the civics are so quick, did really well to keep up and take a few skylines on the corners, obviously the skylines are far supirior but major props to that civic it was awsome, screamer pipe on the skylines sounds awsome!
I love hondas, Nissans, etc... but its every car can be set up so good and with a good driver can do anything....i love watching races like this....
thanks for letting us ride along
Mad props to the driver, nice post. Very impressive video.
the close corners on the track, gave the shorter wheelbased & high revvin EK9 a advantage over the other high-powered cars
@whitepowa its a 1800cc engine the type R version if im not mistaken came with a b18c5 engine so that would be 1.8 l 4 cyl DOHC vtec and it says that has a turbo so maybe is making like 280 or 300 hp could be more...
Looks like a little Love tap going on at 6:43 with the Blue GTR. Great vid.
Nuthin like racing EK9 - steering feel is amazing. I drove a 911 GT3 and it has just about the same steering feel as my EK9 racer.
他已經很厲害了,即使對手的Level高出他很多,也不放棄絲毫進攻的機會...佩服佩服!!
the funny thing is is that skylines are AWD for one and im sure there would be restrictions where a civic wouldnt have to compete against a skyline unless they were in the same HP class
gotta love these little frankstein backyard builds that go quick. "I traded a gallon of milkl, a box of crayons and a subway sammich for my car, yet I kept up with your GTR" hahah love it. I'm going to look at an EG civic TODAY!! Excited.
check out the backfire on those GTRS
at 6:43 did the civic and the blue skyline hit each other?
one thing I always find on these track videos with the honda's especially these hatches (ef,eg,ek) is that drivers are very good drivers as well and I think that comes with trying to tame a fwd beast such as this! X2 for honda!! And I own a 180sx by the way also with me eg 94 hatch
@whitepowa yeah when u add a turbo to it u can make crazy hp numbers with a little engine
@icedstar you are mistaken. The ek9 type r has a b16b engine. NOT a b18.
pretty sure that's a B16C engine that is supercharged, it did very well considering the other cars are RB25 twin turbos
wow...this video is great. an Ek9 putting up a true fight against a skyline
I would love to do this in my del sol built d16z6 making 300whp @ 10psi (low boost) and it doesn't put up that much resistance through the apex and exit so it might catch them coming through the straightaways not too sure though the ek9 is beast in stock form so boosted with suspension might make it faster

@80mitsukie The point is its a fwd and its keeping with them i think...
Really good driving for an EK9.
@dac999 yupzz.... but what's happen when ek9 engine is as large as skyline's???
Crucial part of AWD vs. 4WD is transfer case. AWD has none, as power is continuously transferred to both the front and rear axle at a constant percentage.
@avengedman666 thats what i was saying. if you want to really compare motors, you have to race them against each other in the same type of car/setup. you cant say k20 is slow because a GSR swapped civic beat a 2880lb 06 Si with a k20.

@rneoman what about the 100k put into the skylines, are they factory models lol?
that civic has some balls considering fwd cars on boost generate quite a bit of wheel spin but yet he's keep up with skylines
Im a Proud EK owner. i love this video....
i was talking bout the b18c5 ITR motor not the gsr, both b18c5 and k20a are amazing motors, true testament to the k20a is that spoon took out the b18c5 and started using the k20a, but i mean driver skill is the number one key to speed, i mean this guy in the video is proof of that
danngggg!!!! makes me wanna turbo my b16b engine...how much psi u running??? plz lemme know i really wanna boost mine
@dac999 ya, civic is always meant to be small and compact but powerful...
skylines are the best kind of car u can get for this type of racing right????
That is a truly impressive honda considering its a fwd vs awd cars.
There's a reason why even though I love Nissans, I still think Hondas are great. FWD isn't really my thing, but skill will make it perform very well as demonstrated here.
Wow very fast car and great driving too
That civic held up pretty well against those skylines..
@tribaldrummergod Don't forget the RWD FD3S's running around the track with those BNR34's, I'm actually quite impressed.
racing that ek9 vs the skylines is like bringing a knife to a gun fight you dont have a chance in hell lol
@ZEN824 i agree. it's pretty fast though
wats the difference between an ek9 hatch and an ej6 hatch?
thats a 1.6L possibly a 1.8L turbo fwd civic up against SKYLINES. are you kidding me! thats one bad ass civic and driver. those 2 rx-7's were no joke though, they were gone without hesitation. good vid.
nice show of rear v front wheel drive, sharp slow turns favour rear drive on exit. longer wider turns might favour the civic maaaaybe. very enjoyable vid thanks!
@benjidorn you mean b18c.. never heard of a b16c
still having the stock engine 1600cc? can't believe it...
What was that gauge in the middle of the speedo? Was that a boost gauge?
you can apply that to every make and model car...
the civic was suffering from lack of tracktion..still very good driving, kept up very good.
@XdisXnikkaX i alredi guessed he prob spent around 5grand on engine modifications, and then roughly another 3 grand or so on suspensions and chassis upgrades, and then almost 2 grand for the bucket seats and other minor interior parts. all the differences considered, the ek held it's own
a lot coms down to drivers ability... skill and talent...
@XdisXnikkaX You really think so? From what i've read taking a ek9 to over 400hp costs about 40-50k alone on engine upgrades. Could probably be done cheaply, but without uprated internals the thing wont last very long i guess.
Paul Bajada what u recon on this
@Rasenga if I remeber correcty the power to weight was better on the usdm 1 but I think the jdm 1 had a better suspension and brakes which makes it better in my eyes and they are both sexy but the jdm look is just too sexy lol
@ZEN824 doesn't matter. it cant keep up with gt cars on high speed corners. only if civic had rwd or 4wd and longer wheelbase.... but then it wouldn't be a civic:-)
185BHP from a 1.6? From factory?
@USDMek4door ok. as an F1 fan and as a ferrari fan I can say that last season ferrari was pretty slow according to their rivals. but were they really slow comparing to a family car? same here in the vid. they are fast but comparing to others some of them were slow.
what about the others those were lost from the sight of the camera?
hmm, does anyone else notice that all the skylines and rx7's (real cars) are all out ahead while the civic is in dead last where it should be
The little 1.6 litre powerhouse putting so called "super cars" to shame!! Love it!!
Biggest size factory engine Nissan produced was the Rb28deTT for the R33 Skyline.
K20 isn't lighter than a B18C when you include the gearboxes.
Its amazing.. that EK9 can beat any big japanese sport car in a track.. Very good
@gokuman63 I see the point, hoda's are great for tunning and they are very lightweigt, skylines are just massive cars compared to a civic, but to me a skyline is in icon of a car in street racing and i would rather have an skyline then a Lambo, that is my point. Respect for your honda. :)
You guys are right the nissans are running away? Looks like the ek9 driver has more fun on the weekend then we do.
this car has a b16b that has been bored/stroked to 1800cc and turbo charged to 480+bhp, it's not vtec thats keeping it with the back skylines it's forced induction, if it was converted to 4wd then it would be a track monster, cannot get the power down as early as the skyline but a serious little car all the same
I believe this was an endurance race... i believe that he don't want to wear out the front tire too early in the race.
@gokuman63 And where is the 1st skyline? xD
@rhayneralcantara errr you do realise that he passed some of the gtrs here? are we watchin the same vid here?
boosted EK9 can keep up with boosted + big + expensive Skyline... really impressive for honda sport car.
Of course not, but you don't need to spend 100k on a skyline to make it that fast. Few engine mods, fuel management, turbo, intercooler etc etc. Coilovers, exhaust, roll bars. throw 25k into a skyline and you are sitting at 600bhp. But to get a civic to 400+ hp and make it so it dosent explode as soon as you turn it on takes a lot more money
he forgot to add in the FD's that are also in the race
unbelievable machines, hondas have very high performance...
he has got some serious braking power!!
@GRummy707 ek9= jdm 1.6 dohc ej6=usdm 1.6 sohc?.
when you race motor to motor you have to make sure the only difference in the cars is the motor, same suspension, wheels, tires, interiors, the only difference should be one has a k20 and one b18, like the b vs k thing in super street didnt really prove anything cuz they were all different models setups and motors,
i'm sure itsthe weight advantage thats letting him keep up
what is the rx7, rwd or awd?
@11Anti11 its just overrun mate. Its running lean you gotta watch for :)
@icedstar yeah...that's what i was asking...can't believe it is a 1600cc lol...maybe it is some kind of engine swap or something...If there's not...that is a Beast talking about HP per litre
@kamikaze69100 I know. Still impressive though
makes fun to look this video, pretty nice racing!
Too hard to make power on those high end cars because of the short corners. The Civic stayed with in its power band the whole time, letting it keep up with the high end cars. You notice that they pull away on the short straight a ways.
@avengedman666 i know, i mentioned the GSR as an extra.
kills em under brakes and the some corners, but its not keeping up in a straight line.
What type R is this?
who's the owner of this ek9? wow...what a performance...it actually took over the blue skyline.
haha sick race. nice to see a 1.6L 4cyl keepin up with the 2.5L 6cyl's
i was expectin more
@dc52002 Hahaha, ya, good point, but thats not a your run of the mill civic or prelude or what ever. Thats a true sports car, just like the Skyline.
The power of dreams baby!
that is one hell of a ride!ive seen this race before...but not from this point.....can you prove this is a civic?...actually you dont need 2 bvecause i heard the gearbox........the driver is very good.....
no disrespect man... but it's a FF. so it's gotta be the slowest on the corner.. and if you're at disadvantage already, why not make the hp a lil more so u can at least take over on the straights because the corner isn't your forte?
its not the car its the driver.pushing your car to the limit is your choice not your cars.
@fairygodbrother well then make it a 1600cc DOHC vtec probably making the same 280 or 300 hp
