If anything, Pai Chan became the baseline for Lei Fang, Xianghua and Ling Xiaoyu. None of them are resembles Chun Li in any manner. Yes they're Chinese but the personality, moves sets and lore are completely different.
You have to give credit for Pai having a completely different moveset. Leifang is underated due to her franchise reputation. They definitely had a similar win pose jumping and giggling as Chun-li lol.
To be precise, the first playable female martial artist in video game history was the protagonist of Onna Sanshiro / Typhoon Gal. Chun Li was the second and by fat the most iconic.
I find it funny when people call Kitana clone of Chun Li when Sonya has much more in common with her. But I guess people just see super hot black-haired Asian lady dressed in blue and immediately assume it's a clone.

10:59 Thanks for using the Character Select theme of the original Fighter's History (1993) I much prefer the music of the original than the sequel, Fighter's History Dynamite (1994) I never saw Feilin as a Chun-Li clone. Feilin is a chinese opera actress, the same job Mian (KOF) has. Feilin was never popular, in fact Ryoko got all the attention to the point that became the female face of the Fighter's History series At least all of Feilin's themes are great 🎵 Liu Yungmie felt more like a Chun-Li clone than Feilin, mainly because of those legs, the main difference is that Yungmie practices taekwondo. She walked so Juri Han (Street Fighter) could run I personally prefer Yungmie. Yungmie participates in the Great Grapple in order to investigate her parents' disappearance Also, she appeared as a guest in the game Suiko Enbu: Fuunsaiki (for the Sega Saturn) alongside Makoto Mizoguchi. In that game Yungmie got new victory poses, one of them looks like Chun-Li's iconic 'Yatta!' pose because of how girly and cheerful she looks
Chun-Li. The thunder thighs Queen! ⚡️👑 In Chun-Li's concept art, she originally had big, wide legged pants and had a front and back apron. Akira 'Akiman' Yasuda changed it because she didn't look "very $€×y" and the design lacked visual impact and personality. He decided to give her bare legs and a bodycon dress, making her look more like a professional wrestler. Thanks Akiman for sharing your love for thighs in women with the rest of the world 😁 He no longer works for Capcom, now he is a freelancer
Chun Li Zang, Pai Chan, Ling Xiaoyu and Lei Fang are very amazing characters. I wish there's a crossover between Street Fighter, Virtua Fighter, Tekken and Dead or Alive and Project Cross Zone 3 features Lei Fang from Dead or Alive.
Watching this after watching the recently found footage of the video made in defense of Fighters History from the actual trial in the 90s is so wild. The utter audacity in saying how Feilin is completely different from Chun Li.
At this point there's no clone character in any game or anywhere because the concept apparently doesnt not exist as nothing can fit the criteria of being a clone character.

aww hotaru futaba isn't in this but while chun li is an amazing inspiration and iconic girl others that were inspired by her the developers would just create their own trope of strong female characters with different fighting styles meaning it doesn't have to be exactly like chun li nor personality, lore and nation wise though hotaru fighting style is different from chun li as well as her personality and nationality
I don’t see it. Ryu (and his special moves) were far more imitated back in the early 90’s than Chun Li. If you ask anyone what’s the first fighting game special move they think of you’re far more likely to hear “hadoken” or “shoryuken” than “kikoken” or “spinning bird kick” lol.

Dont get me wrong, her moves ARE iconic themselves, but not to the level of Ryu’s. I feel like even grandma’s know what a “hadoken” is.
Chun Li is Iconic Female Street Fighter Character Ever
Chun li is a Victoria secret model for dudes addicted to games. Chun li is an insult to 🇨🇳and its martial arts
That bar is set pretty low..
In projct cross zone 2. If chun li pai chan and xiaoyu are on a team they make reference to the Chinese kung-fu girl stereotype
I would like to see Project Cross Zone 3 feature Lei Fang that would be coolsome.
