In the past, I'd always heard that Doc-Ock was going to be included based on a developer stating (paraphrased) "There was a character we worked on, but their tentacles made things difficult", which actually could have been Venom since he also has tentacles. Actually seeing some of those assets for Doc-Ock is amazing! Fingers crossed that if Marvel 4 ever happens, I could do my dream team of Phoenix Wright, Shuma Gorath, Dr Octopus.
I remember Vergil coming up a lot at the time for season 2 leak lists, I think Rashid and Gill would switch between who was on lists and I think Gill was the one who ended up being more common/consistent near the end of that period before it became obvious any dlc plans were canned. The other 4 were always consistent though. Probably remembering slightly wrong, crazy to believe this was almost a decade ago lol
Instead of spending half of the video saying that you can't talk about it due to time constraints, either make the video containing everything or dont mention it at all.
The "Dan?" sound effect is not unused, is just a voiceline that happens randomly when you select Dan. Is like the announcer question why tf would you choose him. Is pretty funny.
The Colossus ending presumption makes sense - in Fatal Attractions, which Children of the Atom is based off of, Colossus joins Magneto's Acolytes due to the death of his sister Illyana. I would assume that Colossus would have had the choice of either joining Magneto or returning to the X-Men.
Punisher was supposed to be in Marvel vs Capcom 2, but as cut. As a huge Frank Castle fan I’m glad he wasn’t in it. Him with other heroes doesn’t feel right. I would be fine with him just in the background. He is in Frank’s ending as a Zombie in part 3.

So a bit of correction on the supposes cut theme for Okami's stage in Vanilla Marvel 3, that wasn't actually for an Okami Stage. On the same beta build that Frank and Doc Ock's portraits were found on were unused announcer lines for Blue Area of the Moon and Great Wall of China. The latter has an unused unfinished stage icon which has untextured areas bur does depict the stage. It seems likely that there wasn't ever a cut Okami stage to begin with and the theme was for Chun Li's Great Wall stage that was scrapped. The 2nd game being the 4th one isn't too surprising; I can think of a few examples where games are numbered and not numbered for varying reasons, despite those other entries not being spin-offs. Anyway, looking forward to the interesting details you'll reveal and discuss in this video. Always fascinating to hear and see what could have been. 0:33 - I already have heard of some of the cut content of Marvel Vs Capcom 3 (as a Breath of Fire fan, my heart weeps) but I see you won't be covering Infinite. Is it too soon to dig up info or did the budget constraints of that game result in little ambition in it's planning stages? I always felt, even with the X-Men/FF4 restriction and movie character focus, that Infinite could have done better with it's chosen content. An now I see, 5 seconds after writing this, that you answer my question. 2:41 - Oh wow; I never knew that occurred. Interesting bit of Collossus story to discover. 3:30 - Out of curiosity, was this the point where Capcom were reusing sprites from other games to fill in the roster or did they only start doing that in later entries? I recall Capcom made a Punisher game, which I believe was their first collaboration with Marvel, so it's rather ironic that he never made it in as a playable character in any Vs game. 5:29 - Ah, yes, the One Thousand Years Of Death. It's a very... bizarre cultural element to be sure, though befitting of the comical character here. 6:25 - Fusion? Where they simply testing out the creation of Karin for Street Fighter Alpha 3 (given they were likely made on the same engine, that would be unsurprising) or was she considered to make her first appearance in Streetfighter Vs Capcom to tease her upcoming Alpha appearance? 9:07 - Sakura's flustered reaction here is adorable. 9:39 - That was a cut win pose? I know I've seen it before, but I guess I didn't realise it never made it into the game. 12:49 - It's interesting to see that Frank didn't make it in time. Given he already was playable in Tatsunoko vs. Capcom, you would think think he'd be a quicker character to port into the game. 14:28 - It hurts me so much that two Breath of Fire characters were considered (Nina was also planned with a moveset incorporating all 5 versions of her, but using the first game as the base fighter) and neither one made it in.
Human Torch had work done on him, but his flames were too glitchy. Capcom wanted Juggernaut, but Sentinel was chosen instead.
