- Concorde is renowned for its opulent A-classes, which set the standard for top-end European luxury.
Not many people realise that Concorde also produces two campers, called the Compact and Vario (in fact, the putting-together is done by German outfit Pössl, which also produces Globecar and TEC van conversions, and claims to be Europe’s largest manufacturer of campers).
The Compact is well renowned in Germany, where it has won numerous awards for its unique design. This uniqueness lies in the fact that it’s built with little regard for height restrictions (it’s over 3m (9’8”) tall) and much concern for parking spaces (only 5.41m (17’7”) long). The end result is an unusual hybrid of high-top and coachbuilt, with a prominent GRP roof on a short-wheelbase Ducato body.
The scene within is no less unusual - the Compact has a dinette and a side kitchen, with a rear washroom. Step in and the first thing you’ll notice is the overwhelming feeling of height and space, which is a plus point of having such a stratospheric roof. There’s ample lounging and dining space for two, and the kitchen is spacious as well, although both areas could do with a bit more artificial lighting.

I love this camper, it’s better designed than some of the new ones.
Yep that's very true. What a unique design to it, don't get that sort of character to a van as often anymore. Sure the technology and comforts we can have now are amazing but sometimes its nice to see the models that are a bit more 'out of the box thinking'

Love this van for two people, one can sleep up top the other in single bed to get the most out of it.

This is a fantastic van layout & better than any VW
I can see the argument for sure. But also see why the classic 'rock & roll bed' design with side dinette is very popular too. Pro's & Con's to each I guess. It would be nicer to see a wider variety of the VW layouts and they are out there but not many seem to hit the mass market unfortunately. I'm sure we're going to see some interesting stuff coming out in the camper market over the next few years though😬

Hi Jason & Kevin, I agree the design of the concorde was ahead of its time being a 2007 model. The layout of the sink was impressive and multi purpose. It would be ideal for 2 people.

Exceptional design, well thought out. The La Strada Trento 4 berth is another cracking design, plenty of space, again with a bed in the roof. Loads of storage. Modern vans today ignore the need for a good dinettee/lounge area. Beds located in a high roof top are far superior and should be in most van layouts.
That's very true, a lot of them do ignore the lounging area. Especially your continental vans but I suppose understandably they want to spend most of their time outside! We like the La Strada's too, very well thought out vans👍

Love it like you said it is ahead of its time with its quirky little features it has and I agree it would make a better 2 birth than 4 but at squeeze could be made as 4 birth or drive away awning would help it be more lovable as 4 birth we have 6 birth but would only use as 4 as it has its restrictions using as 6 with the over head bed being restricted when using dinette bed 👍🏽👍🏽
Yep would be very cosy for a 4 berth but like you say with an outside awning it would be do-able👍

Great design, amazing what is built into the space, could do with a current model like that, it would be much more practical than the VW's out there and would sell very well I think. OK, just found out that they are still being produced, slightly different to the one in video, but great design guess the continental style cooking facilities makes it less agreeable for UK market.

I had plans get my pension get a camper off Jason ,I made a big mistake they paid me out at 60 ,a small amount then monthly ,I thought I could take the lot, but I will get one off you Jason by hook or by crook , I promised , and I need to be free , good van mate 🙌

Wish this model was done in a newer van. We are looking for something this size to put on the drive. Wish you would say the price it’s going on at. Show us more campers with bathrooms please
Hi Sasha, thanks for watching. Us too we'd love to see this model re-made! The price of this one is likely to be around 25k but we weren't retailing this one so we forgot to mention the price. We'll keep an eye out for more campers with a washroom!!
Globecar do one very similar with a couple of length options. Globecar Vario 499 and 545 I think.
How do you get into the top bed?
I think there might be ladders in this one we missed or another way of clambering up there

The smaller and more basic they get, the more you seem to pay. I have a Romahome HILo and its more comfortable than the usual rock and roll bed arrangement you find in the VWs. Ideal day van which averages 54mpg.
