Haha, I genuinely always dreamed of a campervan in a layby! 😂

I don't understand why you need a 3ltr engine .I agree with some of what you've said , but my next vehicle instead of a camper van will be a combi van ,this will enable me to ferry my parents around in & when I go on my bike trips I can take some of the seats out & throw my bike in the back with tools etc .I tend to stay at premier inns ,but if pushed I just use my bikepacking mattress & sleeping bag in the back .I hate trains & being next to people coughing all over the place . The more modern engines are less polluting & I can write off the van against my business .

These are the reasons Ive been putting off buying a camper for the past 10 years. The cost to purchase now, coupled with camp site rip off prices and limited "decent" wild camping opps, convinces a train ticket and an Airbnb are the better option, imo. Great vid by the way! 👌

This was brilliant. Funny as fuck, and absolutely on point. As a fellow Alphard camper-van owner (from Scotland) taking a dump in the roadside heather (the bush, not a person 😊) without being spotted is part of the ‘fun’ or the endless driving with the continuous statement ‘we will just keep driving for another few miles’ when trying to find a wild camping spot while frantically checking all the shite apps that apparently tell you good places to park up.. Or when you are sleeping in a forest car park and a car randomly parks next to you at midnight and keeps there lights on and engine running, so you automatically assume you are about to be murdered. #nosleepnow

Julian, you would have been a great stand up (or laid down) comedian. You are a natural and I love your reviews. As a cyclist and a motorhome owner I subscribe to 100 % of what you are saying (and its contrary). Greetings from Italy!

Did you say £9 per a liter. Wow pricey down south.

I think perhaps you’re just not suited to van life because these are things most people consider before buying one. I have the advantage of being 5’1 and tiny and there’s just me and two small dogs. I’m also used to carrying around bags of poo! And of course, you don’t need to stay in a lay-by on a busy road. Saying that, I’ve not been on a proper trip in my Alphard yet so I may agree with you in a few weeks!

I just bought a great VWT6 DSG and have put a nice bed with drawers underneath…I found too much stuff like sinks and fridges in the camper vans..I prefer to rough it a bit at 70..also a hotel for one night is £100 Count your blessings and get on the road..many people are not able to do this..As I get older I like to sleep in the van..toughens you up too..we seek too much comfort today..

Very Good, what we do here is park our camper van in the back of the house, then disconnect all utilities for the house move into the van and house starts falling apart tax bill is reduced the bills, taxes. The camper van becomes remote for everyone stops talking to you and give you privacy. The best part of this system is that you can sell things in the house that you no longer need and rent out parts of the yard or add older vehicles to the yard for rent.. Its a capitalist dream of not paying taxes and maximum profits. You also can declare yourself a sculpture and stack them for more profit. We do this a lot here and its environmentally friendly.

That was a short love affair. Presumably you delayed the release of this vlog until the purchaser had driven it away! I've had an itch for one, but VW sized, not car sized, but I'll concede that all the points you make against them chime with my inner common sense. Mind you , it might well be cheaper to heat the camper van this winter than heat the house! More Moulton please, or have you sold that as well!!

brilliant, but i have a sneaking suspicion that it's not your van and you just wanted to have a good old eco rant - but some fair points were made. If you're a bloke on your own with time to use it, their great

Also, you bought an Alphard and now you don’t like it you’re preaching about environmental concerns! You must surely see the ridiculousness of this!
