I have a monitor of 1366x768 and it was brought in 2012 with 6gb ram and intel hd 3000 graphics. All vegas versions worked for me like charm even 17.0! My only issue is that the project videos properties panel is too large for my monitor. Only a bit. I cannot see the 'okay' or 'apply' button. I cannot resize it I tired everything. I only managed to do it by moving my task bar to the left for a while on windows 10. I know my laptop is old and I've been using it for 8 years but 16 and 15 and below never gave me any scaling problems whatsoever.
Very odd. I know that resolution makes things super small and is extremely hard to work in. Maybe you can change the scaling in windows settings and make sure Movie Studio is in High DPI mode.
Why don't they fix their existing ones? A LOT of plugins are not supported in vegas 17 which were supported in previous version. Its like rather than upgrading they are degrading. Lots of lag and crashes too.
Thank you very much, a good report on Vegas 17. I am currently using version 15 and thinking about upgrading to VEGAS Movie Studio 17 Platinum and needed to know if I would benefit from it. One question if you don't mind, do you find the rendering time quicker using the same render settings in 17 compared to say V15? Thank you, Paul :-)
That's the platinum version, not the cheapiest Movie Studio only (Blue M instead of Yellow M). I was looking for a what the cheapest thing can do vs the Platinum verison
I have been using vegas pro but am unhappy with the constant lagging issues with preview and rendering that I can't seem to fix. Does this happen with Movie Studio since it has the name Vegas on it? Thank you.
Hi, Love ya vids. I have a question about Vegas 17 Pro - - I just purchased a GoPro 8 that records in 2.7K and a few other formats. but cant seem to fine a render setting for 2704x2028 with frame rate of 60FPS ?? what do you suggest??
Oh man! Great tips here! ...can anyone show a noob how to toggle back on the Dashboard if I lose it? Opening the program doesn't always give me the option to select Power User Mode, etc. (edit: using Movie Studio 17 Platinum)
I've wasted money on this twice. Downloaded, installed and when I try to open it it wants to install again over and over. The first time I thought it was me. Then I downloaded my Focusrite without a hitch, same with my Ableton - perfect - then bought this a second time and tried it again, same crap. Will not open. Too bad because it looks like exactly what I need.
Depends on what type of footage you're going to be editing and features you may want to use. Check the product comparisons here and see which is right for you. www.vegascreativesoftware.com/us/vegas-movie-studio/product-comparison/
ignite plugins added that's all, which you could get for a song on humble bundle once. Maybe they will do that bundle again. Not worth buying just for that.
Can I hire you to walk me through usage? I want to create a music video. I've got a MP3/WAV audio file and then have a bunch of different video clips that I want to cut pieces of each video to create a video that is synched with the music. Can I do this in Movie Studio 17? I'd be happy to pay you by the half hour or hour. Thanks!
Try to use in proxy mode which allows you to use it in a poor PC , to resume , you convert all your videos in proxy inside Vegas , which downgrades the quality of the videos , then you apply effects , edits etc without lagging , and then you want to export , Vegas will export your video with the original quality of your "proxy videos " It the best way to have fun with your video software . Proxy can take time to convert videos but after you gain time because it's not lagging :)
Depends on if you want the new features. AMD support, Color Grade Menu, Slow Motion, Warp Flow, 20+ new fonts, motion tracking, and a few more I can't think of off the top of my head. If you're happy with your current program then probably not. If you plan on upgrading your computer sometime, MS 17 will support newer hardware than 14.
It's like a healthy mix of a more powerful movie maker for the complete beginner but still provides all the normal mode and things an experience editor could want.
Great video, thanks, ordered 17 today , upgrading from 14.
can you do special effects on it
Thank you Josh!
Good info..
I guess that when you are used to Vegas PRO you do not want to change to Movie Studio.

Thanks! Can this do multicamera?
Won't let me drag and drop my video into the page.
Thanks! Does it read AV1 videos now?

Thanks for the update, Josh. Hopefully I will win your vegas pro giveaway tho!
Does it support 4k monitors? I had to stop using it years ago when they wouldn't support my laptop's 4k resolution.
The Platinum and Suite version support 4k

Thanks! I suggest using MAGIX AVC and setting the resolution to custom and then putting in the dimensions you want.

Is the platinum worth the extra 30 bucks?

Is there any significant difference between the platnium and suit version?
ignite plugins added that's all, which you could get for a song on humble bundle once. Maybe they will do that bundle again. Not worth buying just for that.

I just wish mine wasn't so laggy, not fun to work with and my PC is up to specs.

Worth $59 to upgrade from MS14?
Depends on if you want the new features. AMD support, Color Grade Menu, Slow Motion, Warp Flow, 20+ new fonts, motion tracking, and a few more I can't think of off the top of my head.
If you're happy with your current program then probably not. If you plan on upgrading your computer sometime, MS 17 will support newer hardware than 14.
It only cost 34$ dollar.
Kinda makes me think of a more powerful windows media maker.
It's like a healthy mix of a more powerful movie maker for the complete beginner but still provides all the normal mode and things an experience editor could want.
Vegas crashes a lot with gpu accelerated decoding enabled, and nvidia encoding is useless at anything lower than high bitrates. And it's year 2020.
He mentioned VP Linus tech tip 28:59 13:17 th-cam.com/video/L9VysWRHPdI/w-d-xo.html what do u think is he right about those stuff
