Well, as long as I have your attention (thanks for the heart!), is it possible to upgrade from Vegas Pro 365 to Post 365? I'm just curious for budgetary reasons.
Fantastic! This is the explanation I have been looking for. Nice to know I am not the only one who thinks Vegas is great but the versions are confusing. And thanks for including the fact that your details in your info will probably be out of date by the time I read it. I am using Platinum 13 at the moment and thinking of upgrading. My Platinum 13 keeps telling me I can upgrade, and at the moment it is saying an upgrade to Pro would be 99 (can't remember whether that is £, $ or €). I am planning to tell friends about the video.
I recently decided I needed to take a stab at both Video and Sound editing for some streamers/VOD creators, and had a bunch of software keys already that I hadn't bothered with. Thanks for sorting out the versions for me. I have platinum and soundforge keys, which seems like it will be plenty. There are a daunting number of options/versions out there just for this software, and it's boggling if you consider more than one editing software name. Anyhow, thanks for clearing this one up!
Great explanations! I wish I'd seen this video when I bought my vegas pro! One correction I'd like to make though is that you actually can get an upgrade price to vegas from movie studio... at least they offered it when I bought mine.
thank you for this! i had adobe for editing my TH-cam videos but i realized its alot to be doing subcriptions especially because i do more simple videos, i tried filmora and it was terrible with it lagging and crashing every minute, I was looking for an inexpensive one time license purchase and i think vegas platinum is perfect for me!
A question, if you don't mind. I have Movie Studio Platinum 13, since it still works fine, but I REALLY need masking and speed ramping. Basically the kind of transition where you fill the frame with an object and mask it out to reveal the next clip. As well as speed ramping would certainly help whip transitions or other such transitions that you'd speed up. I use that right now (well, when large events open back up lol) but having the exact same transition type is getting old. The speed ramping would just smooth out what I can already do, but masking would help a lot. Would you suggest Pro? Or just the newest Platinum? Platinum 13 has no masking. Also, I'm not really sure if it's better to get the regular Pro, or the Pro Edit. I can't tell what the actual differences are, but I'd rather pay for the cheaper of the 2 if I had to pick based on cost. Sorry if I just didn't understand the video and you already answered this, but it all confuses me.
I mistakenly posted this to the Vegas VPRRO 18 user forum and was redirected here. As you do ask for feedback, here's what I posted: I watched your video and thank you for the amazing amount of details you explained. It was a bit like a firehose in the face for me. And while you did explain the differences, as you got rolling, you began to throw a ton of videographic (my term) insider terminology in ever increasing speed, that novices are saying, "what does that mean. Wait, wait, now what does that mean?" Until I glazed over and ran screaming from the room. Marco mentioned scripting and compositing as the big differences between pro and Movie Studio. I still don't know what scripting or compositing is... and why I would want that. I know I can dig deeper on other resources and find out all about those capabilities. But for the novice group (I'm president), can we have a 10,000 foot explanation here? PS: From my VMSP 17 I keep getting offered Vegas Pro Edit 18 for $99.00. So I guess there is an upgrade path of some kind. I think on your video, you were not sure of that. Thanks for your many videos. I will be an avid viewer on this journey.
Thanks for watching! I'd say the biggest advantages to Vegas Pro is video scopes (charted color and light info), composite modes, (advanced ways to blend layers of video), The use of Pro Res codec, use of luts, (color look up tables), and a few new features aimed at restoration work in 18. That is to say, if nothing jumps out at you from that roster then movie studio platinum is hard to beat. These are a "if you don't know then don't worry" set of thing. I'd only use the basic ms if you don't edit often, since there's less room to grow into it. Thanks for your feedback!
Scripting is only if you want to program your own plug in or buy other people's custom ones. They are handy, but it's not a make break for pro untill you're editing so much that... Youre a pro!

@@KJun2_ You dont even need software for editing videos. You can remove audio from video, then you will have only video without audio, or audio which has got only silence. But you will lack of video preview. Nuendo is software which is exactly made for that, as far as i remember. Then you load your newly prepared audio, which u want to add to original video file. You need only simple software for that, which is able to load video file, and load new audio file - which will replace original audio file of video. Then you must re-encode, save destination video file, with your whole new audio, and video file. Handbrake would do that. Avidemux for sure. VirtualDub2 would be big help, and free (simple but powerfull video editor, and encoder of audio, video!).

So I've got Magix Movie Edit Pro Plus 2021, and now I'm utterly confused. Is there an option to get some sort of Effects tool separately or the only option is $999 for POST suite?
Magix has two sofware lines for video editing, the Magix movie stuff and the Vegas Software line. You're mixing and matching which is why the price seems so high. You'd be buying a whole new video editor. Vegas is it's own company that magix bought, so it's a whole separate deal. I know it's confusing
@@TechDiveAVCLUB that was the thought process behind it, secretly hoping that at least some of the tutorials for vegas effects would be applicable without having to dish out $999 for the suite... ;)

Thank you. I checked it out and I was wanting to go with Vegas Post Suite, and I went for the upgrade to get the discount, however, it doesn't tell me what Vegas Pro version I will be receiving. Do you know if with every Vegas Post Suite order they give you Vegas Pro 18?
This is STILL confusing as hell. Not your explanation but the companies lineup. You keep calling it Vegas, yet the email offerings from this company is calling it "Magix". (Yes I know that's the "cover" company). They're calling it (the ad) "Movie Edit Pro" and (I think) you're calling it Vegas Edit Pro. Damn it! (LOL!) So is a 49.99 "Movie Edit Pro" (which is pretty cheap) a good upgrade from Movie Studio 17 Platinum?
Ok... so magix has their own line of editors, and they are the parent company for Vegas Creative software... which also sells video editing software. www.vegascreativesoftware.com is the line of software I'm talking about.

(12 months/ monthly payment) -> 20,99 €
Does that make any sense at all?? We're talking about a price difference of 231,89 € per year.....
All do. Even the cheapest one!
And i think the price difference is based on how much you're willing to pay up front
Tech Dive AVCLUB thanks a lot!!
Maryjon Zezulon oh thanks a lot! I was unsure which programs would actually work and all google told me was Windows movie maker and as you may have read in one of my comments, that I ffs can’t handle wmm 😂 I’ll look out for your recommendations!!! Thanks a lot mate!
When I bought the movie stadium platinum I thought it would have the masking tool where you can make the cutout like in sony vegas. Only till now I found out it doesn't have the tool I really wanted. Is there a plug in I can find it or is that one tool locked behind Sony Vegas subscrubtion bs?
it's in bezier masking fx
@@TechDiveAVCLUB that must be in movie stadium 16 or higher. I only got 15 platinum unless there's an update that can be done.
Hi there! Do you know if the Vegas Pro Edit version (orange one) has the mask option in the Video Event FX ? Like the little box that can be ticked. I'm asking because I wanted to upgrade from the Movie Studio version
Yes it does
is there any way to switch version?
like from vegas 17 to vegas 13
i want all of the composition modes and track motion wondering which one i should get
at least VEGAS Pro Edit
@@TechDiveAVCLUB okay thanks i test put the pro trial but it runs so slow on my computer i may have to just stick w movie studio :/
@@FirstBornArt They should work about the same as far as speed. It might just be some settings that are off. Movie Studio Plat still has a lot of power too, and will still do multiply mask and chroma keys, and standard layers
Guys pls help me. I have a discount on Vegas Pro 17 Edit Steam edition but I don’t know if it comes with less features than Vegas Pro 17 Edits. Can someone pls tell me what’s the difference?
i bought vegas pro 17 and after i bought it i can’t find it anywhere and when i search it up on chrome it just says to buy it again
You should have a magix /vegas account from when you bought it that has everything you need to download and activate it.
@@TechDiveAVCLUB i downloaded it as a guest
@@draydenmartin298 if you downloaded it then you should have an exe in your downloads
@@TechDiveAVCLUB yeah, realized that a few weeks ago and threw some cash at Hitfilm Pro :)
@@whiskeysk cool lol that's essentially the same thing as vegas effects
@@TechDiveAVCLUB that was the thought process behind it, secretly hoping that at least some of the tutorials for vegas effects would be applicable without having to dish out $999 for the suite... ;)
I'm sorry for asking this. But. If i get vegas pro 365. It gives me basically vegas pro 18-19 but i just pay monthly?. So basically what im asking is. Does vegas pro 365 Still give vegas 18-19 and higher I am just only paying monthly with online lessons?
yeah, pro 365 auto upgrades and it has a few extra goodies listed online with monthly model
@@TechDiveAVCLUB Alr thanks for the help
Buy?
quick question does platinum crash or lag ?? lol i dont want to have to go thru the hassle of getting a refund again like i had to with filmora
Every editor does, even premier and avid. I've personally gone through it. but I'm able to use vegas products with limited crashing. Most days, no crashes, but I can't say it doesn't ever crash
@@TechDiveAVCLUB no yeah for sure but Im saying like Can I get Adleast 30 min constant editing without it crashing every minute
@@kstylenbeauty Yes, you can.
Me with my cracked svp 18: Hmm, yes okay.
14 is good
I've heard Vegas is difficult to edit 4K on all Vegas versions is that true? Also what cameras of 4K can Vegas edit? I've heard Vegas can't edit Panasonic Lumix
My friend and Fellow VEGAS tutorial maker Scrapyard films uses the Lumix G7. I've not heard no have I personally had any issues with editing 4k footage on VEGAS.
@@TechDiveAVCLUB That helps a lot. Thank you
I didn't even know there were different versions lmao

I own Vegas 19 Suite and it says i need a subscription to use text to speech! What is wrong with you people? You want everything, I paid for Image and Effects and DVD Architect and Sound Forge, and I cannot get text to speech? If this is true? I am very upset I also cannot get any of the free video files in the HUB. Explain this to me please. Do I have 365 or what? you want more money? Unbelievable!!! Ronetta Colbert
Want VEGAS Sales? Here's a new site I'm updating monthly showing all the deals they share with me. techdiveavclub.wixsite.com/home/sales
Thank you. I checked it out and I was wanting to go with Vegas Post Suite, and I went for the upgrade to get the discount, however, it doesn't tell me what Vegas Pro version I will be receiving. Do you know if with every Vegas Post Suite order they give you Vegas Pro 18?
movie studio i get i am yoda (not really)
Now, the big question is "Where does Video Pro X fit in?" 🤔
egg
When it starts? Can someone gave me second to cut out all these intro bullshit?
So excited to start creating 🪂🪂
