Good review. Just bought the combo myself. Maybe to stop the breeze underneath drape a trap over the stretcher so it hangs to the ground, couple of pegs to keep it anchored.
Just bear in mind because it’s more of a traditional tent material you do have to be mindful of condensation in cooler or moist weather. Just make sure your vents are open. I’m running a rooftop tent now but it did me very well when I was running the RS1 and my friend now uses it
@@MightyOverlander A mate took one through central Australia last year the condensation was horrendous compared to my 23zero dome, with all vents open he was having to wipe down all the walls each morning where mine would dry up as soon as the sun hit the canvas. Other than the low profile and fast set up you mention I would not recommend this swag for overlanding with lots of early morning pack ups.
A great review of a very neat setup...the awnings are great...I'm lazy and want all my bedding in my swag...as for 2 weeks on the ground you are welcome to come away for a few months and see what it's like...when I get home all I want is to be back in my swag and I'm a lot older than you...and as for 100km/hr when I had my LJ80 that was it...80km/hr but it went everywhere...just a bit slower...keep up the good work.
Not sure to be honest. The hard part is the mattress is segmented in order to fold up inside the bag. You’d be better off getting a self inflatable to put ontop of the existing one. That being said I’d probably only chose this swag for warmer climate use
Mate, great review. I’ve bought a RS1 but not had a chance to use it yet. How do you find the swag bag in the weather? Bit concerned about chucking it on the roof rack only to get to camp with a wet mattress.
It was fine whilst I was using it. The inside of the bag is rubberised so it’s pretty weather proof. Top tip, grab an old candle and run it over your zips, wax will help keep the water out
Not really. The issue is the material used. If it was a two layer shell construction with a bug mesh inner with a seperate rain fly over the top would be better
Any budget friendly options? Going swag but have lots of teenagers and might break bank to swag everyone out. I thought of hammocks too but we got some big kids. They really like their own space especially from the younger children... I'm so torn. I might get one big tent and cots but love the idea of swag.
Check out Wildtrak Leisure Australia. I use their gear now and it’s much lighter, way better price time and very good quality. I much prefer the cotton canvas stuff now
Very informative buddy, I used to have my swag on a stretcher but didn’t like the sag in the middle so back to the ground, mainly use my roof top tent now, look forward to more camping videos 👍👍👍
Absolutely awesome video and review I'm sold I'm seriously looking at one of these how did you go with condensation issues and that stat's say it's 2150 long is it really that big I'd like it to be a bit shorter I plan to put it on my ute instead cheers mate seriously great job on the video mate 👍👊💯
So the condensation issue is only when it’s really cold. Some other owners have suggested a absorbent pad to throw under the mattress so I might try that come winter. And yes I believe the specs are correct with the size
Spotted a good tip on another review of this set-up. You can flip that awning over to the back of the swag and pole/peg it out so it sits above the roof. It puts the reflective surface facing up and leaves a breezeway underneath which is handy for hot and/or sunny days if you don't have shade. Great review though. Subscribed.
What a great review and swag, exactly what i was looking for. Just watched your rig on Ronnie's channel (modified #99). Your channel looks pretty cool, subscribed and looking forward to more create content.
Thanks very much mate! Since owning this swag for almost a year now I might do an updated review as there are a couple of things I’d like to add. One of which is the issue of condensation build up on the inside of the roof and under the mattress in colder weather. I have tried a fair few things to minimise this including opening up as many of the openings as I can (everything bar the main entrance) and still getting a fair bit of build up. That being said I have heard of a moisture absorbent pad people have been using under the mattress that is a relatively good solution. Just something to keep in mind.
Just one thing with this swag, they do have a pretty annoying condensation problem. I’ve since swapped to my current swag which is a more traditional cotton canvas set up
Hey mate, how do you find the condensation in this bad boy? Also you still loving it? Love your videos and I'm in the process of getting a Jimny hopefully for next year!
Gday spencer! Still loving the RS-1 however the condensation issue is still something I’m trying to solve. It’s only really a problem when it gets cold, and it’s more noticeable under the mattress. I’m thinking of maybe trying a towel under there or something but still working on a solution!
Thanks for watching! The swag bag is weatherproof and the stretcher stays pretty flat but does “flex” down the centre line a little with your weight on it. But I wouldn’t say it’s uncomfortable at all.
Good review, how’s the full set up going for you. Still happy with it, any dislikes or issues? How are you securing the stretcher to the ground? The wife and I have been running the RV3 for 5 years and love it, however I do want a single type swag for myself and don’t fancy being on the ground (comfort)
Gday mate, thanks for the kind words! Set up is did well over the winter period. Only issue I’ve had is condensation build up can be a bit of a pain during the colder nights. Im looking forward to getting out there in the warmer months to see how it goes. Next trip is planned for November when I get back from being away with work. The Oztent line in general is pretty good. I do have my eye on another swag but I’ll save that for next year. I only secure the swag/stretcher to the ground if the weather is up. But generally it’s not really needed as the swag is strapped down to the stretcher. The main reason I went with this is purely being off the ground offers a bit more comfort and protection.
Much appreciated! Plenty more of these coming over the next 12 months. I have a picture in my head and with the help of Phil and the Tokyo Motorsport team we will make it a reality!
Mate... long time no speak, was half way through watching this when I realised it was you :D Still recommend the swag? I'm in the market for a new one. Tisch
Heyyy my man! I still like this work however I am actually shooting a new swag review this weekend. The only issue that I have with the Oz tent are S1 is the condensation issue but as long as you can get some good airflow it’s not so bad however in winter this does make the swag pretty cold so I would recommend a really good sleeping bag to go with. Flick me a message on my Instagram it’s great to hear from you
You should have just bought an RV1 before they stopped making them! They have the zip to connect to the awning and oztent sells an adapter for caravan. RV1 is the same pack size as the RS1 just a bit heavier.
I haven’t experienced it in high winds yet. That being said if I knew I was going to be in high winds I wouldn’t have the awning up and I’d have it pegged down a bit more than I usually do. I’m going to be trying to get my hands on an Australian made swag from a small company out of NSW next. I’m really keen to see what they come up with because I’d like a small single swag to throw in the boat I’m thinking of getting to compliment the jimny
Nice bit of kit, and great overview. it's pretty similar to the Oz tent RV range , except smaller, I have a RV-4 that I picked up second hand which me and the Mrs use now, after getting sick of the bulky double swag (think my swag was identical to yours )
I don't get it...I just bought a 30" wide cot and 4 person tent from Coleman...The cot cost $49 and will fit inside the tent that cost $130 and it sets up in 10 seconds

I was about to purchase either a dome tent or a different brand easy-setup swag but you convinced me in this video,

Awesome thanks guys! Cheers for watching and the kind feedback!
Thanks for the review. What thickness mattress do you think you could upgrade to & still easily pack away in the bag?

Could this awning attach to the s5?
Not 100% sure. If you measure the width of the S5 and match it to the batwing you’d be able to find out
Great review, few questions. Is the swag and stretcher bag waterproof for transport on a roof rack? Does the stretcher sag in the middle?
Thanks for watching! The swag bag is weatherproof and the stretcher stays pretty flat but does “flex” down the centre line a little with your weight on it. But I wouldn’t say it’s uncomfortable at all.
Bag is not waterproof…. So can you class it weatherproof?
Stretcher bag is not waterproof either
Excellent review covered all aspects
Thanks Al! I have a new camping video coming out tomorrow, be sure to stay tuned 😄
Great review thank you mate. I love my RS-1 swag and it pairs perfectly with my Jimny too. Cheers! 😁🤙🏻

Does the stretcher feel like it moves around alot when climbing in and out and moving in bed?
Not at all. Those sway bars make it really sturdy
