To be honest both of these trucks are a fair bit more durable than this. Kev went to the absolute most extreme in this vid, especially considering the weather and temperature. Cold temperatures make plastics harder and therefore more brittle and prone to breakage. On top of that they were landing on concrete - its pretty much the absolute worst case scenario and a bit unfair, combine the temperature with where they were and what they were doing and ANY RC would break, not just the X-Maxx or XRT. But hey, he did what he said he was gonna do.
Who knew cold weather made plastics more brittle...

The cold weather doesn't help but my brother did break the chassis on his bandit vxl in a place that was room temperature. He was also hitting big jumps with the chassis also smacking the hard dirt.
@@kylebeach2316 Ya of course at any temperature anything has its limits. Its just that in the case of plastic, its stress limits are severely lowered in cold temps. Thats all I was saying.
So we should never buy Traxxas I guess

Merry Christmas everyone!! Been waiting, not so patiently, for this video. I knew Kev, and Max, were going to put the XRT through it's proper paces, and you did. Thank you for that! I have the long arm kit on my X-Maxx, the RPM hubs on the rear and new Traxxas hubs on the front, along with the CEN pins. Other than the tires, I am not sure there is a ton of difference in the XRT and the way I have my X-Maxx configured, so I'm looking at next year to grab an XRT, and just like with my X-Maxx, Kev has already given me some ideas on what will need to get upgraded right away.
I'm still impressed with not only the content, but the quality of the video and editing and production of the video. And it looks cool when you have the camera right alongside the running RC vehicle as if your riding along with it. Nice Kev.
Always love the videos Kevin! Love how extreme you test products. I know I will never even come close ... so they are both going to be reliable for me for years to come. Like you said ... whatever puts a smile on your face. And with my 4 RC vehicles (3 Traxxas) I always have smiles on my face. Thank you for getting me back into RC this year after a 35 year hiatus and thank you for promoting the hobby so well.
Dude! You inspire me to get out in winter with these things! I’m mostly on my own, so not the funnest. And in Canuckistan, so a bit cooler. Only about -10 in the Ottawa valley. But I often hesitate to go out in the winter! You make it look so fun! Thanks for the smiles!

the RC cars and hobby has come a long way from my first RC Car (Tamiya Sand Rover and Grasshopper) back in the late 70's to early 80's.. Yes.. I bought them when they first launched.
I love watching you guys, honestly, Video after Video, and I don't think that there is a Person who can afford all these damages , I'm still looking to have my first Traxxas and I hope that will happen soon, thanks a lot for all these videos, and thanks for the tremendous efforts

Allo Kev, great way to start the day. I couldn't believe it when I saw your preview Nd saw the Xmaxx snap but I'm thinking your cold snap had a lot to do with it. It sucks that running an RC in the snow and cold is so much fun but being plastic and battery operated it's like RC kryptonite. I have to say I'm loving this xrt. It's definitely the best of both worlds.

Think it’s finally time to pull the trigger on an X-Maxx. I am an old schooler that started with the original X-Maxx T-Maxx 1.5. I still use it, but not much is left of stock. I converted it to electric, all RPM parts, thicker full aluminum alloy chassis, good times.

Although others have tested it for a long time already (US), I've just been waiting for Kev's shoot of this. Does'nt matter if others are first, it's always worth the wait for Kev to do the video! 🙌
Great duribality test and video ! Don’t know what kind of snow you get there but if it’s more than 6 inches deep and nice ,soft & powdery , we would run our RC Boats in the snow and put some snow on the ESC & Motor to keep it cool… just make sure its a nice big flat field with no rocks under the snow to rip your prop & rudder off . We would also use those little bags of hand warmers on the batteries to keep them warm. Thanks again for the great videos !!

Sick absolutely sick. I live in Hawai’i so I’m grateful I don’t have to deal with the severe cold. This is absolutely the most extreme durability test you can do!!! Shows if you run these trucks with care and no what you’re doing these trucks will last your lifetime!!!

It's interesting what you say about liking the clumsiness, it almost doesn't make sense but I know exactly what you mean, I remember one of my earliest experiences with rc cars was having a go with my friends Clodbuster and the clumsiness and the way it handled like a real monster truck is what made it for me!

I just want to say thank you, thank you for sticking up for traxxas batteries I have a ton of Traxxas batteries I've only had one bad battery in 7 years and that was my own fault for not discharging it

Ones goimg to say the cold most definitely had a lot to do with the breakage. Made the plastic more brittle. Not the ideal bashing environment 😜 Was still fun though.

It's been a long time since you've liked anything even close to your King Xmaxx. Honestly, I've been on the fence with Traxxas and Arrma for this entire time, happily saving my money for more parts for my cheaper rc's. But The reliability of your Xmaxx, packed down into a controllable package of the xrt, I may just be getting my first traxxas. XRT seems to just need better tires, and a few cheap spares. Sounds like a blast!!

Awesome vid Kev, last RC I had was an E-Maxx when they came out, broke it many times, had loads of hop-ups (shame I can't upload a pic here). It was a great RC. Would love an X-Maxx, but out of my price range for now. Keep the great vids coming!!

That huge ramp to ramp transfer with the XRT was Epic 😱. I kept waiting for that bell crank to let go. Thank goodness Mitch with M2C has a prototype sorted. Overall I'm finding the XRT more durable than the XMaxx. The flat style chassis is a major strength advantage. Great upload and props to you Kev and Max for going all out in the cold. 🍻

Awesome as always kev. I gotta say I myself like watching the xmaxx more. The xrt looks great but the xmaxx just looks funner for bashing. Speed and handling isn't everything with a basher. You can get plenty of speed from the xmaxx and with the added traction of ballooning tires it gets through and over things better. Flips better and I don't know, just looks funner.

Yeah it looks like Traxxas are on a winner with the XRT, except on price perhaps. I reckon you might want to do another durability test in a few months when the weather is warmer. I reckon you should look at the XRT design/parts a bit closer and see if you could combine it with the Xmaxx to make an LCG Xmaxx.
One more thing, you might want to try out those XRT wheels on your Off-road land speed record car. Less balooning.

So glad I found your channel I'm from the USA and my first car was a TAMIYA GRASS HOPPER that my cousin handed down to me I've had gas powered boats and trucks over the years but fell out in my mid 20's now being 40 with two daughters they love the hobby thanks for all your great videos and by the way what does waffle waffle waffle mean? How does the RC king not yet build an RC wagon to carry all his cars to the bashing sites? Would be a fun build to watch.

Kev have you considered a set of XRT wheels and tyres for the sausage? Get them properly glued yourself rather than relying on the factory glue job. I dont know if they will hold up but they may offer you a middle point between the two sets you're currently using

Max running into that railing...that's what happened to a little r/c plane I had...having fun, blasting around the parking lot, flew over the roof of my shop, wham, right into the chimney OOPS. Broke the prop off including the adapter that holds it onto the motor shaft :-( took me FOREVER to find a replacement. like 18 months.

I appreciate you took the xmaxx to the snow too, for a fair comparison. It would have been a bit unfair for the XRT to break everywhere in the cold without the Xmaxx also getting the frosty treatment.
They took a fair amount of abuse considering the conditions. I've only ever broken plastics in my MT10 when I'm snow bashing.
The XRT is the first Traxxas I actually want. Really dig it!

New to hobby just purchased your rc tutorial class as i know nothing about this hobby but have fallen in love lol my first rc car is redcat volcano then got a trsc10 i think next purchase will be the MT10 v2 and on my wish list is the XRT Traxxas. From everything Kevin says and does i think i too will become a traxxas fan. What rc car in $500-700 range would you recommend? i may just jump to XRT not sure....Great vids this hobby is just so much fun when you start learning how to fix them, at first i dreaded fixing them but now i can see the allure to upgrade them and see how make them better.....
