    I really like this guide even as someone who plays millia. It tells me what im doing wrong better then "do this and this and if this then do that"

    She's a complicated girl, but that's why I love her. There's probably a bunch of things I didn't touch on, ex:
    There are setups where she dashes in and uses SDisc to get a side swap. You're not gonna see those much pre-Celestial.
    If there's questions you have, ask away, and I'll try and give you advice to beat it!

      Question: If you don't have a DP (I-No) how should you get out of 2D H disc? Or just ride out the block string and pray?

    • @OneAmongstMany
      @OneAmongstMany  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@gandenaw8012 At that point you're just praying. 2D HDisc hits meaty, so you just need to guess. You can try for a reversal super but it might be safer to just guess the block and YRC.

    Arrived here because I was trying to figure out what I was supposed to do against a Millia mashing me into a corner. Honestly, this video wasn't that helpful because you only really showed how to get out of her strings by using DP, which obviously not every character can do.
    Idk, just my thoughts.

    • @OneAmongstMany
      @OneAmongstMany  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Been a while, but yeah:
      Looking back over it, there's gaps - but honestly once she has the setup going its where she's at her strongest. You've got to try and win neutral is key. If she tries to loop back into a HDisc setup it costs her a lot of damage usually, so past that you're going back to a more 'normal' Strive oki state.
      YRC is also always an option IF you get the first block (and before you gripe on spending meter, I also think if you're going to risk a DP to blow out you should probably also have 50 meter).
      The key to Millia is not letting her in, stopping her from doing any of her weaker/easier mixes (Mirazh mid combo is VERY reactable, for example), and make her work for her setups. Depending on character, she needs to hit you 4-5 times or more. You probably only need two or three good combos. Use that advantage, use fast air to airs, and accept that HDisc is going to give you hell.

    Something else about Throw < Hdisc is its rps is a little better than you gave it credit for imo. Throw < Hdisc < j.H is actually strictly better than the j.K shown in the video as it beats all mashing including 6p hitting low enough meaty and also in fact safejumps 9f +reversals, making it actually just a true wakeup meaty block string for characters like Ram, May, and even Ky regardless of meter. Only the other 3 meterless dp characters and characters with

    I was having a good time playing strive last night, until my buddy started using millia. Just disc set up, after disc set up, after disc set up. Makes the game not fun cuz I can’t play. Just getting hit and failing to block correctly while she jumps around
    I use baiken so aside from 6p, my only reversal is the ult. I desperately need advice on this match up before I put this game down

    One thing I'd add is if you block hair car when she has 50 tension stand guard immediately after in case she does fast RC into jK. Also interested in how you mentioned Gio is hard to contest in the air for Millia, I've got a bit over 200 matches against my friend who plays Millia and I just stopped contesting air to air completely outside of hard read air throws or reacting to Kapel and throwing it during recovery.
    Also for her frame data her 2K is 6f same as her 2P. It's actually not 'that' bad and reaches quite far for that kind of normal.
    For me though I feel like 90% of the matchup is just being solid with anti-airs and forcing her to fight on the ground.

    • @OneAmongstMany
      @OneAmongstMany  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If I'm close to the ground I feel like Gio's jK can snag me pretty easily and her jH comes in low enough that it tends to beat jS. If I can get high enough, then the Gio just needs to be patient (luckily Gio's 6P is slow, so it becomes less of an issue, but Gio can also just run wherever she needs to be absurdly fast and Gio's pressure is hard for Millia to challenge). The trick to air-to-air vs Millia is just to realise that she's going to want to get back into the sky ASAP, jailing her back down to the floor is high prio for the characters that can. Definitely a hard matchup for Millia anyway, as long as the Gio is careful about not whiffing f.S (luckily most tend to hit it willy-nilly) and times her AAs you can end up smothered pretty fast.

    • @jKazej
      @jKazej 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@OneAmongstMany Yeah with Gio I just feel Sol Nascente/air throw are the options I really rely on to keep Millia honest. 6P doesn't feel very reliable in this matchup. I do agree that on the ground Gio is at an advantage, but Millia has plenty of options to be creative.
      I'll have to lab the air-to-air, but I don't think Giovanna has any way to get as much reward as Millia does off of successful air-to-airs.
      As Gio I feel like my reward is best when I properly anti-air a jH on the way down with 623S and get a CH into dash 5K confirm
      or if I airthrow and get to at least approach into her while she's grounded.

    I fought my first Millia and honesty as a Gio player she seems like she does what I do but better. One she has her setup, you crouch, you get hit, you block, you get hit, you jump, you get hit, you dash, you get hit, you press a button, you get hit.

      Millia and Gio have different strengths even if they might have a lot of similarities. Millia isn't a better Gio. Hell, LordKnight, the premiere NA Milia main thinks that the Gio matchup is almost even with a slight lean in Gio's favor. And, as a Gio main myself, it's easy to see why. Gio's DP is absurdly strong in the matchup and is better at whiff punishing because of her grounded dash 5HS and 2D. Gio's j.D is surprisingly good at air to airs even against Millia. Millia can beat it but she has to be actively predicting you're going to air to air her instead of you using something like DP, 6P, or air throw. There's also situations where you can Travao her Iron Savior on reaction to hit her for massive damage. Millia also doesn't have the best frame data on neutral tools on whiff and block while most of Gio's moves are safe. What she has on you is range, but that shouldn't be new to you since most characters outrange Gio. Millia is also much worse on defense because her fastest button is 6F. Gio's is 4F. You can disrespect a lot of Millia's pressure if she's not keeping it tight by using Gio's 4F jab. Gio is much more versatile and can afford to chase Millia down because Gio has more effective health while building meter faster. Gio also does more damage from one combo. Millia needs to combo you several times (3-5) from her mixups to kill you while Gio can easily touch her twice and she's dead from two combos.

    Hey how do I know the differences between the discs being thrown? Sorry my eyesight is terrible

    • @OneAmongstMany
      @OneAmongstMany  3 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      Slash Disc vanishes almost immediately, its a projectile/string ender.
      Heavy Disc lingers and is the one used for most setups.
      The biggest thing is whether or not the disc is going to hit you immediately on wakeup - if she does a 2D (the eagle claw looking sweep) into HDisc, its going to be a 'true' disc and hit you if you try to challenge it. Throw disc won't. There's no visual difference between the two - she's just cancelling out of 2D into disc which means it becomes active earlier and hits you on wakeup, but with throw/haircar disc she's having to finish those animations before throwing it out.

  • @g0reyuken
    @g0reyuken 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    What happens sometimes is that Millias somehow screw up setting the disc correctly, even after a 2D. Do you have to cancel 2D immediately for it to hit meaty? I'm positive I jabbed out of stuff I shouldn't have been able to in the past.

    • @OneAmongstMany
      @OneAmongstMany  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah, have to cancel out of it the moment the 2D lands and use the kicks beforehand to hitconfirm if you want HDisc or SDisc to reset. You *shouldn't* be able to challenge the HDisc if done right.

    Honestly, this doesn't seem very helpful. I don't have a DP, so as long as she uses her disk, she's still at a huge, basically uncounterable advantage, even after watching this... It's not your fault, though as you put a lot of work into this guide. It's just how Millia was designed.
    Hopefully they make some changes to her at some point.

    Almost everything suggested as an answer to each situation, zato lacks.
    Jab? Same startup as millia's
    Reversal? Lol no
    Fast horizontal air normal? His fast buttons have short range and all of them are lower attacks, he can't even jab mash.

    • @guts2630
      @guts2630 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'm actually starting to think as a Zato player he needs buffs. For a puppet character he's not very strong at all for the effort and labbing you need to put in, and the easier and frankly more braindead characters in this game are actually just better, like Sol and Chipp.
      A fix for his atrocious hurtboxes on normals, making Eddy take damage proportional to the move he is hit with (the Clover dolls from Blaz for example), this would stop jab mash beating Eddy in as many neutral situations that it does. I think from full Eddy meter nothing but a HS should kill Eddy, 2 Slashes, 3 jabs. Would help in this and the Axl matchup (I think both of these are 6.5-3.5 against Zato's favor) because lets be honest. Millia does everything Zato does, but better, and easier. Better neutral, better mix, better conversions. That shouldn't be a thing. There should be pros and cons.
