    Back in 2016 I was using TM1804 chipset pixels. When you wanted to use the WS2811's you had to get a small converter board.

    Thank you for the video. FYI strips can come as ip65 or ip67 ( waterproof)

      Yes that's true if you buy them on wired watts or other light show stores, but most of them on amazon or other popular stores aren't waterproof. I just wanted to make sure no one would buy strips from one of those stores then have them be ruined instantly from rain/snow.

    The connectors don't matter. As long as you know how to solder you can add whatever connector you want. I know some people in the DIY community use an automotive connector for power injection.

      That's very kind of you, thank you so much! If you do want to give something, the best way would be through venmo. I have a Venmo at account.venmo.com/u/BridgeportsBrightestLights-Bur . I never expect anything for making these videos, but if you insist on giving, this is the best way! Thank you very much!

    Any online suggestions for UK stores?

    • @How2Pixel
      @How2Pixel  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I wish I had some suggestions, but I'm not really sure of any. The only place I know of that definitely does international shipping is Wired Watts, but for everything else, you'll have to check with them and see what they offer.

      @@How2Pixel no problem, maybe if I find some reliable stores I can send them to you and hopefully help other UK watchers.

      Well welcome to the pixel lighting hobby! I would love to help one on one and give you some advice, but many people lately have been seeing my channel and all want help 😅. Sadly, I can't stretch 100 ways to help everyone, so that's why I try to make tutorials everybody can watch and hopefully get some useful information out of. If you are just starting out and don't have much knowledge about pixels, I'd recommend looking up TH-cam tutorials about them and how to use them. I have some videos ranging on most of the topics involved with building a light show, as well as some other channels on TH-cam. If you'd like to check it out, I have a playlist with some beginner tutorials about how to program and use these lights here th-cam.com/play/PLvjRyLZVnSzPoYycO_zcEUTEzmNRH53mH.html
      I wish you luck on your journey to setting up a display! If you ever have any questions, feel free to leave a comment and I will try to answer as soon as I can!

    Is 5k pixel enough for a show

    • @How2Pixel
      @How2Pixel  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Oh that's more than enough 😆 My first year I only had 479 pixels in my show. This will be my 4th Christmas show this year and I'm just passing 5k pixels 😂

      How many controllers do you think I need for 5k ball park, not exact

    • @AlexSantos-dy2wx
      @AlexSantos-dy2wx 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      And connector, I think iam buying them straight from paul

    • @How2Pixel
      @How2Pixel  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      So sorry for the late reply. I've been busy lately so haven't been working on TH-cam stuff too much. For how many controllers you need, it really depends on your set up. For me, I have all my lights closer in rage (farthest strand away is maybe 75 ish feet) so I only have one controller with some differential receivers attached to it. If your show is really spread out, you may want multiple controllers, or just one with differential receivers attached to it. As for what connectors to use, I'd recommend trying to avoid Paul connectors because they aren't super common. Most pixel vendors only sell Ray Wu or Xconnect. But it's totally up to you and your preference.

    Ya know what's not fun? Accidentally touching a 12v wire to a pixel data wire. That's not fun.
