  • Today in this video, I explain how to use pixel Peace stakes in your light show. Peace stakes are now one of my Favorite props because the effects look amazing on them. You can make it look like your whole yard is moving!
    Credit to David Peace for inventing these. The original design of the Peace stake comes from him. Check his light show out here! / dmpeaceman

    I just wrapped up my setup for 2022 and started planning for next year. Decided on Peace stakes and this will save me hours trying to figure the xLights part out. Great content!

    That's cool, but I'd save a ton of money and buy a couple sticks of PVC pipe, cut them length wise, cut each half of the pipe to the length I want, then drill my pixel holes and cut a spike in one end. Cheap and won't twist in the wind. No zip ties, or dowels required. Oh and you can paint it whatever color you want.

    • @How2Pixel
      @How2Pixel  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That's actually not a bad idea, but I wanted to get it done the simplest way 😂

    • @traceygranahan9838

      Hi, what size pvc pipe do you use for this?

    • @EvanRobinson85
      @EvanRobinson85 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@traceygranahan9838 I haven't used it yet myself. It was just an idea. But I'd probably get 1/2" PVC. Even if the pixel doesn't fit you could put them in the oven at a low temp and flatten them a little to make them wider.

    • @bradywassam5232
      @bradywassam5232 ปีที่แล้ว

      Use heat and you can bend or flatten the pvc

    Have you tried putting the wooden dowel on the outside? Basically make your point with the coro, put your dowel Into the v shape that makes on the outside (because the coro is cut square). It would give you so much room inside the prop.

    • @How2Pixel
      @How2Pixel  ปีที่แล้ว

      That's actually a good idea! I don't know why I didn't think of that. I might be adding more stakes next year, so if I do, I'll definitely try this out! Thanks!

      @How2Pixel  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I don't have a video specifically about the wiring, but the peace stake pixels already came wired for me. There were I think 10 stakes with 5 pixels in each stake on one wire.

    I like your show I want to do this in my front yard. Can you tell me what I need to power those pixel. Thanks for your help.

    • @How2Pixel
      @How2Pixel  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The pixels I specifically have take 12 volts DC power. The amperage depends on how bright the pixels are. If they were running at 100% brightness, each pixel takes 0.06 amps (60 milliamps) so 100 pixels would take 6 amps. However, I only run these at 30% brightness which takes 0.018 amps (18 milliamps) per pixel, so 1.8 amps per 100 pixels. You can however buy 5 volt pixels too, and get a AC to DC power supply to get the voltage to whatever you need. Hope this helps!

    The wave effect is very cool. Is it possible to make a rain drop effect?

    • @How2Pixel
      @How2Pixel  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes there is. Usually what I do is take the meteors effect in Xlights, and put it on an all-stakes group. Most of the time I have to adjust the count higher and the trail length lower to make it work, but that's how I get a raining effect.

    Hello, a question, the LED sequences of the stakes are up and the next down and so on or do they all just go in one direction, thank you very much.

    • @How2Pixel
      @How2Pixel  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I'm not quite sure what you're asking about. Are you talking about the wiring for each stake or how I program it? The way I have them wired is the bottom pixel of each stake is the first, then the top is the last. There's a wire that then takes the signal back down the stake into the next. Hope this helps answer your question!

    wowww,its the first time i see this kind of setup,i have a question,in order to make a video of the show how do you record with song ,thank you

    • @How2Pixel
      @How2Pixel  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That's a good question. You can either sit in your car and record it from there, with the radio running in the background for the audio. You can also record just the video with no sound playing, then mute the video and add in audio with an editing software. My recommendation for software would be Shotcut. It's free, and it has advanced features that you can use if needed, or just use simple features for this task. I've been using Shotcut for the past 2 years and ever video on the channel has been edited using that.

    How do you mow your lawn?? my show is set up for 2 months and the grass grows alot in that time

    • @How2Pixel
      @How2Pixel  ปีที่แล้ว

      We don't set ours up until 2 weeks before Halloween, and we live in New York so it gets really cold and snows late November/December. If you live somewhere warm my recommendation would be to try and wire your stakes in rows or something, and maybe it will make mowing easier.

    I like the idea of peace stakes for my show but here in Australia at Christmas my grass is usually going off it’s head and the thought of moving them all and cabling to mow the grass is putting me off the idea

    • @How2Pixel
      @How2Pixel  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah we actually had a problem with that during October when we ran these for the Halloween light show. It was just warm enough to cause the grass to grow, and it was really high when winter came. I think next year we'll mow the lawn right before we set it up.

  • @ortizo2482

    How much a set up like this cost?

    • @How2Pixel
      @How2Pixel  ปีที่แล้ว

      For the whole show or just the peace stakes? The peace stakes were probably around $300 - $400, but the price might've gone up. For the whole Halloween light show that's a little tough to give you a number. But if you were to buy all the parts, controllers, pixels, and have the same set up as me, with current prices I'd say around $1,200 - $1,400. The reason it's so expensive is because of the chip shortages. Pixel prices are up around $5 per 100 and controller prices have gone up. The same controller i bought for $200 in 2020 is now $250. So don't be surprised when you see the bill to set one of these up!
