  • Legal Eagle XL ORV and I flew on a nice February Friday afternoon from Oakdale airport to Mariposa Yosemite airport. This is the closest airport to Yosemite Valley. Field elevation is 2025 feet. Grass and trees turning green and the almond trees are starting to bloom.

    Absolutely love these videos you put on You-tube. Us older pilots can't really afford to fly anymore. These action videos you make are superb ! They let us enjoy a "joy ride" with you in your Legal Eagle. Thanks again Les. Have collected all your videos and play them all the time.

    Another great video Les, thanks for the filming tips, the way you got rid of the `weird prop,` that you see often on TV programs is excellent.

    Great video work. Various cameras reveal different details. They are all fun to watch. I spy a wooden reel on the right side cabin ....... towed chase cam? Look forward to your next experiment, version 12.1.1a.

    Nice thing about the eagle is cost. 2.4 gallons per hour and every time you do a preflight it is almost an annual. One day i intend to have my own strip and hanger so no hanger fees.

    Thanks for the vid. Man it is dry there. I have relatives that live in Stockton. They hardly had winter.

    It would depend on specific airports at each end but yes it could be done. Under perfect weather condition would take a couple weeks and with actual weather/winds could take a month

    To get rid of prop blur i use a ND filter. The hand held camera does not have one nor does the camera looking at plane. The head mount camera does have filter

    Tape over the mic to protect it from the wind blast, maybe that will help with the sound.

    Is that a trim wheel on the right hand side near the control panel? Look like you have moved the throttle controller from originally parallel to body of the legal eagle to the up front with the control panel. It looks like a "dial" now! Correct me if I am wrong! Please.

    The engine has been running great. Only issue i have is with carbs and starting seems like settings need to change cold days to warm days.

      Les Homan That's normal, different density of air at colder temps therefore more oxygen in every cylinder stroke, requiring different amount of fuel. Colder air = more fuel for more oxygen = more power + better cooling. Just watch out for it sputtering if you get up high from carb ice. You look like your in a desert tho, probably little chance of that.

    I know this is a stupid question, but could I fly 1 of these to Pueblo Colorado legally from the St. Louis Mo. Area

    • @marteck319
      @marteck319 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      You bet. It is a free country. You need 4 sectionals St. Louis, Kansas City, Wichita and Pueblo. Then familiarize yourself with Class E and G airspace and obstructions like towers and MOA's (military operation areas) central Kansas Fort Riley and Salina also Pueblo has a big MOA north east of city. Lastly Pueblo is at 4950 ft altitude way above St Louis. And stay 5 miles but it could be more from any airport with a control tower. Have fun.
