Simply the best video I've seen of this amazing plane yet! Thank you so much for going over all of the details as well, it was a great lesson on how to do it right 👍
One of the Reasons the Legal Eagle XL or UL are so popular is because it flys just like, but slower, than a lot of the aircraft flow by pilots that have either lost medicals or have decided to spend a lot less flying and just enjoy flying to the max.
Great job 👍. Looking forward to seeing your movies. I'm just getting into all this and can't wait to get started and then in the air. Your youtube is an inspiration to me. Thank you 👍 liked and subscribed 👍 hello from the Kentucky mountains
Thank you for showing us the construction details on your Legal-Eagle. Especially in the cable and pulley installation. Your attention to making your aircraft lighter in weight is very important too.
do not go by prop size, pitch diameter. every manufacturer is different and if you order the same size prop from a different manufacturer it will not preform anywhere like what you expect. Best thing to do is to talk to the manufacturer and tell him what you have, horsepower and what you are trying to achieve and get what he recommends. The prop i am using is from Frank Johnson at performance propeller. I have a tennessee prop that is about as good but it is 6" larger in diameter and the pitch is 4" difference.
I need someone to sponsor me so I can get into building and flying one of these. LOL I have the passion, but not the funds. I'm 52 and am running out of time to check off this bucket list that is at the TOP of it!
Hi Les. I love your videos on the Legal Eagle. Great workmanship! Sorry if you answered this in later videos, but what was the reason you switched from the the 1/2 VW to the 3 cylinder Verner 3V? Is it more power than the VW? Do you find that the plane needs more power than the 1/2 VW provides? Thanks!
We can tell you are an accomplished pilot Les! How is it transitioning from say a 172 into on of these? I have not flown an ultra light like the Eagle but this seems to be what I've always been looking for.
When I talk about flying cross country it is airport or landing strip to landing strip. with the Legal Eagle and only 5 gallons of fuel generally 60 to 70 miles i need to be on ground for more fuel, depending on winds, min. distance was 30 miles and max. distance was 120 miles. land, fill up with fuel and head for next airport.
Les Homan thank you for replying. I am medically Challenged from getting a class 3 medical... I’m really considering getting some training and building one of these. I’ve been watching your videos and really like this bird.
Les is a wise ole bird, wish all walk arounds were this educational. Lots of neat little improvisations, gives us a lot to think about.

It is an ultralight vehicle operated under part 103. Within part 103 a pilots license is not required
That looks great Les. It definitely needs a bath. Thanks for giving me a tour.
Очень содержательное видео!!! Спасибо автору!!! Очень подробно рассказано о конструктивных решениях! Класс!!!

Thank you so much for describing each and every part of the very nice plane

um otimo projeto e bem feito parabens! o sr teria a PLANTA DE MONTAGEM dele ?
It is the Cassler 45 hp engine with all the alum cylinders, 94 bore, 86 stroke
I just spoke with Scott today, in regards to that engine. Living at 7000' that is what he suggested. The price tag might set my build back a bit.
Sir which red fabric is this you used to cover the ultralight ??
Can a 7 hp with 2800 rpm engine lift up the Ultralight ??

awesome video :) it may be dusty and dirty but its still an awesome bird thank you for sharing
Nice plane! What are the washers for, vertical alignment of the rudder? Do you have a video taking the wings off for transport? Thanks!
Thanks this was the best video for contrôle surfaces mechanism, could you make a video how the control column is connected to cables and so forth.
Nice plane! Tnx for all the detailed info!
This is a superb video Les. Thanks.
After watching your video I'm sending for plans. I've built my own boats now I need to build a flying machine.
Exactly what I have been thinking with those brakes!. I have a fused ankle and will not be able to use toe brakes.
Les, the plans call for mostly 5/8” x .035” tubing. Have you considered possibly 5/8” x .028”? By the way, phenomenal tutorial of the Legal Eagle XL.
It is not for sale. The yellow eagle is for sale. As seen in other videos

Great video and attention to detail.
Beautiful airplane...sweet machine!
What prop size and pitch are you using? I think I need to upgrade props and am asking around to see what everyone is using.
Awesome!...but omg! If I safety wired anything it would be engine mounts...

When you say that you fly cross country with this plane, what exactly do you mean? Do you travel from airport to airport?

What would you charge to build one without the motor???
