@@Resident-cb3yzgenerally I agree with you. But 300 blk is such a varied caliber due to the wide range of bullet designs, monolithic for both subs and supers. “Plinking” ammo from 125gr to 168ish grain. And subsonic ammo from 188 to 220 gr. And you add on top of that all the barrel lengths and twist rates, you’ll come to find 300blk is one of the hardest calibers to zero in on for one individual rifle.
I have watched this a couple of times. I just bought one a few weeks ago. It is super ammo sensitive. I broke it in on Ammo Inc. 150 grain and it took me about 2 boxes to get it consistent. After it got really consistent I changed to the PPU and there was 7 inches difference. I checked my zero with the original ammo and it was still dead center. I changed to the Hornaday 110 grain which is what I intend to hunt with and it wasn’t even close. 8 inch left and 2 inches high. I moved it back to center 8 clicks at a time. 5 shots later it was back on zero. I love mine but they are so ammo sensitive. My guide has one and before I got mine he told me they were. It wasn’t your shooting. I’m sure it was brand new and not broken in. Mine shoots fantastic but ammo changes causes head scratching. Good video.
@@NelsonZAPTM huh? Well thanks. Hell I’m only 64 years old and killed my first deer at 5 years old. Been shooting all my life. I have several firearms and I don’t need to read a manual to sight in a rifle. Oh and I have never used anything but factory ammunition. I don’t trust reloaded ammunition. Never have, never will.
Awesome rifle. I have the first gen Ranch model and can get good groups at 100 yards with cheap Winchester stuff, Hornady Black Vmax, Barnes 110grain and Sig Sauer brand. It's a good rifle for the budget, do your part and it will shoot just fine.
soon to be lining out my older rotary mag ranch 300bo for upcoming single shot rifle season here in the peoples republic of illinois. son will be hunting with it and the old man (72) me will be on a new cva scout 350. finished off a bow shot hog with the old ranch several years ago when ruger brought them out....125 gr tnt with 1680, h119, etc. wthe about 1 1/2 inch groups at 100 yds and burris 2-7x. have now shot up most of those reloads over the intervening years, so will revisit all that this summer when the wind quits blowing every day around here! thanks for the video to get me revved up a little to prep some 300 brass while wind blows 10-20 mph, or higher, day after day after day!
I sight in with WOLF poly 145gr in my300blk 10.5" pistol & 16" carbine at 50 yds. Pistol generally shoots 3/8" & with carbine same hole . Pistol upper by Radical arms 4 yrs in service, carbine upper is BCA nitrited heavy barrel spiral fluted 6mos in service. I generally use the hood of my Commander as a rest when sighting. I have to say that in 200 rounds I have never had a malfunction with WOLF in either firearm.
Never thought about a 300bo add from local gun shop 300 black out half price bought 600 rounds and the American ranch rifle $47a box off 20 here in Australia great review
I got a 300BLK upper for my AR just to see what it was all about. 30/30ish ballistics for standard loads. When it becomes really fun is with subsonic loads and a suppressor. Then it’s Hollywood quiet. You basically just hear the action cycle and the steel ringing.
I have one that uses the older style Ruger magazines. I bought a few Aussie made 10 shot aftermarket mags because the old plastic mags broke. Mine seems to like Hornady 110 grain Vmax handloads and 190 grain SubX handloads. So my options can be either hyper speed or quiet and heavy.
Great video shared to FB, I really like those Ruger ranch rifles I have the 223 and 7.62x39 models I shoot steel case ammo through both which surprisingly shoots pretty darn good. I have a Savage 300 BO bolt rifle and which I have shot some Wolf steel case ammo with. Always a pleasure watching your videos.
PPU brand blue box 30-06 150 gr I bought 1 box...I had 3 duds out of 20 shots. Primer was struck by firing pin but nothing happened. Probably won't buy that brand again. Never had that problem in the same gun with any other ammo brand.
I noticed in your comment that the recoil impulse surprised you. I'm supposing that you felt it to be less than expected? I like the idea of .300 blk but have never experienced it. For me (age 73) less recoil is a good thing. Just curious. And I like the Ruger American. I had one in .450 Bushmaster, but that was way too much even though I thought the rifle was terrific.
@@mikes8915 No I didn't, i did a bit of a review on the topic when i did the "how to" for those that like to do that procedure. For me I personally think its a waste of time and ammo. But don't look down on anyone who likes to do it.
I had issues with cycling the bolt on mine and jamming yes. It was flat out miserable. The fix was to throw aways the POS 5.56 PMAG that comes with it and buy a Lancer 300 blk mag. Action is like butter now. The gun is a dream now. Why they include a 5.56 mag for a 300 blk is beyond me.
I think that it is amazing how different manufactures of ammo differ in the same caliber. Shared on Facebook and Twitter. 🙂🙂
Totally agree! Thanks for watching!
I disagree. Test more and it is mainly about the shooter. Literally.

My RAR loves Speer TNT 125"s over some H110.
Those ranch guns are awesome. To bad people are paying $700 plus for them online, definately a $400 gun but man are they accurate!
Completely agree. Its crazy what their bringing. Thanks for watching!
Hell, academy sells them for 450$
Just change the stock.
Solid stuff! Would be good to see the groupings with a suppressor & the SS, HP, & FMJ load.

You have convinced me I need to get a bolt action 300 blackout
Based on all the videos I have seen about 300 Blk out and me shooting 147gr. I can tell you this rifle loves 110gr I have not yet shot with 110gr.
I have a few of those Rugers the best one is 7.62x39 & the 300 blk. Shared on FB.
I hear that, i still kick myself for getting rid of the x39 that I reviewed here on the channel. Its definitely a favorite also.. Thanks for watching!

Yeah Ill be honest ive not had the best luck out of any of that ammo either. Thanks for watching!!

No it was actually a bit more than I expected. Nothing overbearing but noticeable. Thanks for watching!
Would be interesting to see how consistent the powder charge is in each of those loads and see if it correlates to group size.
I like your thinking... I may have to make that happen...
Frontier has always been $ for me in 556.... I shot 2000 rds last yr
Lol after the first two groups i was thinking i dont know if id be putting that on the web
Goes to show that you can't hang your hat on one type of ammo. Hornady Black, though, always seems to perform.
Agreed! Thanks for watching!
I want one of these in 7.62x39. Do you still have yours or was it a loaner? I have some ammunition I would like to see tested from it...
Sadly its gone, I do miss that rifle it did really well. Thanks for watching!
ppu in 308 out of my ruger American shoots great out to 100 yards
Thats great to hear!
should leave the target up for even just a few frames after so we can see the 5 shot grouping.
Yup, thats been taken care of in all the videos. Thanks for watching..
I hav shared your video on my account
Thanks, appreciate the support..
Goddamn I finally found a video not suppressed
😂 glad I could help lol. Thanks for watching
Drop the scope power down. Bet you get better groups..
when will you review the Ruger American ranch in 350 legend
When I can get the rifle and ammo donated to the channel ha ha. If i can find someone local with one Ill definitely review it! Thanks for watching!

@rpergrem file down the internal ribs on the pmag by half.
It'll feed big fat subs like a Labrador eating sausages after that.
If we didn’t throw that one………. It’d be to easy 👍🏻🍻🍻🍻
