69gr is the absolute sweet spot in my 223 ranch. With barnes matchburner handloads ive shot the best groups ive ever shot out of any rifles. Ive got several 5 round groups in a single ragged hole about the size of a dime...
Thanks! I try and do them how I would like to hear about a particular rifle. Something with just real world facts and nothing sugar coated. Thanks for watching!
I'm VERY close to buying this rifle . I'd rather have a black Hogue over-molded stock but the gun is too new for them to have one yet . As David Skaggs said this is the best review I've seen on the Ranch . Thanks for posting .
+cronos222You will like it I'm sure, everyone I've told about this rifle has absolutely loved it after they have bought one or have shot mine. Ruger hit one out of the park with this little rifle. Yea that's a good idea that would this rifle very nice with that stock on it. Hopefully they will get them into production .Thanks for watching, greatly appreciated!
Hey SG3, yup this is the exact rifle I was referring to in the comments on your newly reviewed Howa 6.5 Creedmoor Rifle Upgrade Project, quite a coincidence that you have one & already reviewed it. Gonna set up a deal alert on slickguns.com & add it to my wish lists etc... Find the UPC, price it out, etc... Reading all the comments helped me to realize that if I get this one next I can put off the 6.5 Creedmoor Rifle for a while longer & wait for the marketplace to come to me a bit more, as I am confident that the trend lines are to my advantage. Thanks for another good review! Phonetically speaking, saying umm in a conversation is an indicator of active thought & a verbal clue of pending further comments. In an in person 2 way conversation it's perfectly appropriate & acceptable in informal settings, but generally frowned upon in more formal or scholarly settings. So those that don't like it can just bugger off! Just be yourself, but having bullet points that you want to make sure you touch upon in an orderly manner may be helpful for every YT reviewer.
Good glad you liked the vid, hope it helped to answer a few of your questions on it. Like I mentioned this rifle has been one of the most accurate rifles out of the box I've shot. I'm not sure if its just the one I got or what but its lights out and 100% repeatable. I will say for starting out if you don't have any other experience with precision bolt guns and want to get started a 223/5.56 rifle to start is a great place to start. Cheap ammo, countless ammo options from everything from factory match loads, to hunting loads, to cheap plinking stuff to practice with. get yourself something like this to start out with and a nice scope and get some trigger time behind it learning proper trigger control and how to dope your scope and that will go a long way when you decide to step into a longer range caliber. Yea sometimes I think to much cause there is a ton of things I want to say and need to keep them straight, but its getting better with each video.
@@TheHide good video, it's one of the rare reviews that the guy doing range tests isn't slapping the trigger. I didn't notice the ums hahaha. I have one of these rifles on the way and will be working up some hand loads. If I find something good I'll shoot you a message.
My Ruger American in .243 Win. shoots 95 grain ammo, both factory and handloads, at an inch or less as long as I do my part and the wind isn't swirling too badly. It's probably the best value gun I own.
I have to agree, ruger really has out done themselves with this line of rifles. Its a great high vale line. I really want to get my hands on a Predator in 6.5CM to review..
It'll get the job done but I'll get a Sako. Accuracy on low end rifles today are impressive. However, I don't like the grade of materials on low end rifles. Their bolts are rarely smooth. If your wallet is constrained and you want a rifle then they are worth it. Otherwise save for a Deluxe factory rifle at the very least. Good video.
Good morning Colleague, you did a very good video. Please I have a question, would you use this cabine all day long against a colony of prairie dogs? Many thanks for sharing
+guerrierodelgiaguaro I personally would not since I do not hunt, but I would say for a hunter it would be a great carry rifle. Plenty accurate as well as light weight, Thanks for watching!
Very nice video, thank you. I just ordered one today I am replacing a Savage because I want to use my suppressor on it. I have a 77 grain powder coated cast bullet I have made and I am hoping to work up a load for it using Trail-boss.
I'm not just saying it because I have one, but I have had absolutely zero problems with this rifle. Out of all my rifles this may be the one I like to shoot the best. Its compact light weight an super accurate. With using a 55gr Vmax handload of mine I have no trouble at all shooting MOA to SubMOA groups out to 250yrds. Put a nice quality scope on yours and I think you'll be very pleased if you get one. Thanks for watching!
+The Hide thats awesome! im a huge fan of the 5.56/.223 cartridge as well as i love the performance of the "Carbine" style bolt action rifles. especially being a shorter rifle id imagine its easier to manipulate in thicker brush as well as easier to sight in if you ever have to get a shot off quickly and effectively on game. i plan on getting this rifle sometime after the first of the year. it will be quite the experience since ive never owned a newer sporting rifle. but thanks again for making a great review! i didnt see too many reviews for this rifle and im glad i stumbled upon your channel! i think it definitely pushed me over the edge on getting this rifle.
+DarkskullMedia I agree with it being such a compact package, it would make a nice field gun due to its light weight. I'm just really impressed at the quality and accuracy of the Ruger American platform, I think they really made a winner with this rifle. Good luck on getting yours and thanks for watching the videos, stay tuned for more to come!
Good review! Mine loves the PPU 55 gr FM's, and does a good job stabilizing the PPU 75 gr HPBT's too. Just in the process of reloading 53 gr v-max for it :)
The 55gr Vmax that Ive been using in this rifle has been amazing well under sub MOA groups and rangeable out to 300yrds with ease. If I get a chance ill some of those out, thanks for watching!
Minh Vu In this caliber I like this one as far as accuracy. Were the mini action shines is you can get it in 6.5 Grendel, which Ruger doesnt make a ranch in that caliber. But fir cost and overall performance. This Ruger ranch is awesome and superbly accurate. Thanks for watching!
You guys are doing a nice job of spending my money. :) I see them more as an investment anyhow. I agree on that scope as being good for the money as I am using the same one on my rem 700 adl chambered in 223 rem. Very nice optic for the money! I am a fan of the American line as I got my first one chambered in 22lr and it is great fun and highly accurate for a lower priced rimfire. It has the same trigger as this one and I like it allot for a factory trigger. I have been hunting more and more with my .223 as its the rifle I use the most so I know what it is going to do. This rifle here you posted will be my next. I see no issue not just coyote and groundhog and range time with it, but good for whitetail within certain range. My other rifle likes the Federal partition 60gr which is a good hunting round for .223. I would like to know how much energy loss there is with the short barrel compared to my Rem 700 which has a 24" barrel.
Yes I agree I'm very impressed with how well these rifles shoot. I'm looking to buy another Ruger American also, I've been very surprised how well this little Ruger Ranch shoots. I shoot handloads using 55gr Hornady Vmax projectiles out of it mostly but I have no trouble making consistent hits out to 275yrds with almost perfect repeatability. Even with a 16" barrel it will print some very impressive groups. Yes I'm a huge fan of Nikon scopes, the Prostaff and the new Buckmaster II series are two of my favorites for the features offered an the clarity of the glass for the price point. Thanks for watching!
Great thing about it is, you don't have to take any of it.. Although the newer videos as I'm sure you've noticed are much better about this. Thanks for watching!

Awesome, Sounds like a good one!
I see you have a flash hider / compensator on the rifle, is this stock or ? If not can you tell us why you chose this particular one ?
No its not, its a YHM QD flashider for my suppressor. Thanks for watching!!
I like the way you do your reviews. I like the practical, real time analysis.
Thanks! I try and do them how I would like to hear about a particular rifle. Something with just real world facts and nothing sugar coated. Thanks for watching!
Rock solid rest, what make? Is it a two piece set or ?
Its a Rock Jr from Caldwell. Single rest and a rear bag. Thanks for watching!

No problem, good luck with yours. Thanks for watching.

thanks best review I've seen on this rifle
No problem hope it helps. Thanks for watching!
I put a full size stock on mine. Great shooter.
That's a great idea. Thanks for watching!
Did you get a chance to chrono the 55gr v-max loads? In looking for a coyote load for my ranch and ive heard good things about that bullet
No I haven't took the time, but ill put it on the to-do list. Thanks for watching!

Oh yea it would be great for that. Suppressing this little rig would most defiantly increase the fun factor, lol. Thanks for watching!
thinking of picking one up here in a month or two, are there any problems you have encountered with yours?

+The Hide ended up breaking down and buying one! shot it a bit today! holy hell i love it haha thanks for your recommendation! got it for $335
+DarkskullMedia That's awesome man! Glad you got one, what scope did you end up using?
This was a great review !!
Thanks, I appreciate you watching!
Good review! Mine loves the PPU 55 gr FM's, and does a good job stabilizing the PPU 75 gr HPBT's too. Just in the process of reloading 53 gr v-max for it :)
Thanks! Yea they are an awesome little rifle. Not to mention their just fun to shoot!
Try the 50gr varmint tipped anerican eagle. It will amaze you out of this rifle or the MVP 5.56.
The 55gr Vmax that Ive been using in this rifle has been amazing well under sub MOA groups and rangeable out to 300yrds with ease. If I get a chance ill some of those out, thanks for watching!
Are the rings the vertical split rings?
Yes they are.
How do you like this rifle vs howa mini action?
Minh Vu In this caliber I like this one as far as accuracy. Were the mini action shines is you can get it in 6.5 Grendel, which Ruger doesnt make a ranch in that caliber. But fir cost and overall performance. This Ruger ranch is awesome and superbly accurate. Thanks for watching!
I wish they would stick little iron sights on it.
+TN6565 I agree, Im really kind of surprised it doesn't come with them. Would make a very lightweight carry rifle is it had irons.

Thanks for the sub, its appreciated.
bought one in .300 black out on 12/14/17 mag is junk nothing like a 10/22 mag.
Sorry to hear that, Thanks for watching!
Is it still 400$ ? Lol
TRUMP ! ! MAGA ! !
omg dude seriously......umm umm, umm, umm I don't know how much I can take of this
Great thing about it is, you don't have to take any of it.. Although the newer videos as I'm sure you've noticed are much better about this. Thanks for watching!
Sometimes it's better not to post....right?
When are you going to post something?
Francisco Villegas is he said umm one more time I was gonna recommend him for the choir or singing quartet.
Ummmmm! Good review though I own two of them. 7.62x39 and 223/nato 556.
he said umm 31 times in 1:50 sec of video i stopped counting after that.
ha ha ha I don't know if I would have took the time to count them, but been trying to work on that. Thanks for watching.
Hmmm...a budget "scout" rifle.
Oh yea for sure, especially the model chambered in 300blk. Inside 200yrds shooting 208gr suppressed loads that would be a beast, IMO.
just subscribed to you
