    What a needed message for our present times. When psychologists and psychoterapists encourage us to acknowledge our negative feelings and thoughts and accept them as an integral and perfectly normal part of our being. When we are encouraged to not 'label' thoughts as good nor bad, but just accept everything as 'serving us' and having a purpose for our growth, you clarified that it's actually the opposite. Modern therapy is all about digging into our past, reliving the traumatic episodes (which are often the result of sin), bringing to the surface deep, hidden, unprocessed emotions and making peace with it all. The only real therapy is, as you say, living with Christ, and asking for Him to heal us and restore us. Thank you, father! You are a beacon of light in this world full of traps and illusions.

There is infinite Beauty and Love in Him - put it in your heart, from the very beginning, to WAIT for the Lord. Please keep us all at the Monasteries on Mull and Iona in your prayers.

    I suffer from PTSD, and I find if I fight this fear with faith, it works every time. I have to do this many times a day, especially these days. Put your faith in Jesus. Jesus, I trust in you, Jesus I trust in you. Jesus, I trust in you. The chaplet of Divine Mercy, the rosary, the eucharist and studying the word of God. Thank You father Seraphim. God Bless You. Let Christ fight your battles because in him the battle is already won. The rosary works every time. St Michael, the archangel defend us in battle..

    Thank you, Father! This is a constant struggle.
    Please pray for me, everyone. I am a relatively new convert to Catholicism from evangelical protestantism. However, for the past 8 months I've been studying/praying about Orthodoxy. I want to ensure I am doing the right thing. My fear is that I become one of those typically modern people who jumps from one church to another.

    • @mullmonastery
      @mullmonastery  ปีที่แล้ว +38

      I fully understand that fear, dear Dave. I understand and respect it. It is natural for a protestant person to get to Orthodoxy with a 'station' in Catholicism, because Orthodoxy is virtually unknown to the Protestant world. That being said, try to follow what is in your heart: do not hurry your conversion, neither delay it if it becomes clear that this is the way forward. Be prayerful in your study, and ask Christ to guide you, so you do not end up guiding yourself. Wait for as long as necessary, but not a minute more. May Christ guide you to His Light, my dear one.

    • @nicgundy
      @nicgundy ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I relate, I did some personal study of Orthodoxy as I was being catechized into the Roman Catholic church. short story I was Catholic for 5 months as I found to have enjoyed, more importantly found the fullness of truth in the Orthodox Church. Take your time, it's worth it

      I was in the same situation, then I heard from my RC canonicus about "Come & See". Two years later I went, saturday evening vigil, I was a little early, the woman who sold the candles that evening give me a short introduction, I got myself a spot in a dark corner, and then the vigil started.......... I was blown of my feet, literally, I wept almost all 3,5 hours, I was home at last.
      Glory to God for his Holy Church where He abides among his people. Amin, amin, amin.

      I was baptised into the RCC and lasted 6 months after I found Orthodoxy which has a richness in faith and practice that lacks everywhere else. My husband was RCC and he became Orthodox 2 years ago and got married last year in the church.
      God help you in your journey and guide your feet to His church.

    • @tankster5826
      @tankster5826 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @meratedengel7049. If you are attacked through dreams just know that dreams do not define you and have no power over you. Do not pay attention to them or give them any power or credit. They can’t hurt you. They are just dreams and nothing more. I used to have bad dreams and wake up paralyzed with a demon creature on top of me smothering me.I couldn’t even move my lips to say words. I tried rebuking it. Didn’t help. Finally I told it that it could torture all it wanted but it could never have my soul as my soul belonged to Christ. It left immediately and didn’t come back for years when it tried one last time and I just laughed at it and said “ oh you again” as if it was nothing. It fled and never returned and I almost never have bad dreams or any kind. If I do I just shrug them of as insignificant. Only time I ever take dreams seriously is if God speaks a message in one which is always for my good.

    ❤ A method that helps me is similar: the evil thought 💭 is a cloud ☁️ that passes by, nothing more. I interrupt a repetitive thought with singing 🎵. I sing to God a favorite comforting song like Be Still My Soul or Praise God from whom All Blessings Flow. I have several. Singing helps me return to joy. Singing lightens my heart and my grief disappears.
    Psalm 91 is always there to further comfort me. ❤

I am constantly growing in my love and compassion for you, and I pray Christ will give you the patience and the strength to slowly grow in your faith. It will take time to convert your mind, dear one. The heart reacts faster to the Beauty of Christ, but the mind remains captive in its old ways for a long time - have patience, remain humble, stay open to change and growth in your faith, and all will be well. Thank you so much for these videos, Father. They have been incredibly helpful for me. I converted last year from atheism when the Lord blessed me with a truck driving job and I found His peace on the road. He is saving me from so much, but I struggle on a deeper and deeper level daily. I love my parish priest, but have not yet developed the relationship with him that I would like. God willing it will be so. I have an incredible amount of time to contemplate the Lord and to study the Scriptures and the Fathers as long as I can find them in audio format, which it turns out is the best way for me to learn.
    The problem I am having is, because I have devoted nearly every minute of the last year to the Lord (I am very alone in this world, so there is nobody to distract me) when I do speak to others, even other Christians, I feel like we speak different languages. I feel like I am in limbo. Like I am in this strange in-between state between monastic, hermit, and... whatever we call normies, but I never fit in with them, though I will say I love them with all my heart now that the Lord has made me see His Light in them.
    I find it amazing to try to draw that Light out in the people I meet. They respond so well when they notice you treat them like they have unimaginable value. It's sad that so many are so starved for that feeling. It's so easy to make them light up with just a little attention. It's a shame that it isn't how we treat each other by default. The world could be a much better place.
    My parish priest is very busy and I feel as though I am taking too much of his attention away from people who are far more important than myself if I were to ask for his time. I love the people of my parish. I love my priest. I don't want to take from them, so I suffer in silence and nearly absolute solitude. I have the company of our Lord. His Grace is sufficient, and He has taught me everything I know. Is it wrong of me to desire human relationships when I feel so close to the Lord? Is it the Lord's plan to isolate me for the moment or is it my sin that keeps me alone, as it always has in the past?
    I'm thinking of visiting a local monastery when I recover from my upcoming surgery. Maybe spend the weekend if they'll have me. I could use the company. It could only be good for me. When I hear you speak of your relationships with your spiritual father and your fellow monks I yearn for relationships like those. I haven't had friends since I was young and those didn't turn out to be very good friends. Or I wasn't a good friend, more precisely. Most of my family have passed on or live far away and haven't acted like family for many years anyway. I did my share of contributing to that trend, as well. The cross sure gets heavy sometimes, though. It would be nice to share the weight and to help others bear theirs.
    I guess I don't really have any questions. I just wanted to thank you for what you do.

    this was extremely helpful. You brought the saving strategy to my struggle - a struggle that I was losing. You managed to bring clarity to my muddled thoughts. Thank you so much. I will probably have to listen to this from time to time to truly be able to understand it. God bless you

    Out bursts of anger and frustration toward my children has consumed me for the past 6 years that I can't break from. To the point of thinking suicidally for their sake. Like if I was gone my husband could find someone who could do it better. Orthodox teachings are out of the box from what I've come from and it's been refreshing, though I still struggle immensely.

    Amen Father, amen. There is nothing silly about your videos…they are a great help to many. Thankfully this is a lesson that was taught to me about 65 years ago by the Irish sisters who were my teachers. They called it avoiding the occasions of sin. It boils down to the same advice: turn away from people, activities or places that lead you to sin. I too have learned that I cannot become the person God wants me to be by my own efforts. Only He can transform me. I am very grateful for these lessons that He has taught me, which you have articulated so well. God bless you and your community and the work you are doing.

    I recently read "Wounded By Love" by St Porphyrios, and he discusses exactly this. It's very powerful: do not take an adversarial approach to the adversary, he will beat you with experience; or, to put it in the vulgar words of the younger generations, "dude just ignore your temptations lmao"
