“ THE FAMILY STONE” is such a great one! The Christmas Carol version with Alastair Sims is a solid one, too, because he was a comedian for his time so the reaction at the end as a changed man is priceless.
‘Poor botany skills’ 😂 Meet Me in St. Louis is not forgotten or overlooked. It’s a classic. Y’all have been missing out! Welcome to the team. 😁 I love both The Holiday and Arthur Christmas. ❤️ Also my favorite part of this is Chyna’s determination to make this process end 😂
one of my favourite christmas movie is nativity! cute kids, martin freeman, really bopping songs, what more could you want? and then some heartfelt moments of a teacher encouraging his pupils to believe in themselves PLUS the angel gabriel does slide down a zipwire
I do watch it every year. Home alone 1 and 2 I've seen every year since I can remember, so like 20 years straight. Just not xmas without seeing home alone. Course you also have die hard and gremlins. I also watch polar express.
My favorite part of this video- China: "I just want to read my book." I can't tell you how many times I've said this to my husband. We both work from home, and he is in my vicinity all day, and the moment I sneak to the bedroom to steal a few pages, he finds me. He wants to talk to me. About things I could care less about. But I love him, as clearly as China loves you, and I endure whatever request he makes. But I make sure to get in my requisite, "I just want to read my book." btw I laughed out loud quite a few times. Great vid.
'Love actually' is my most favourite movie and plays every year in Australia (but I like it so much I bought my own copy so I can watch it mid year too - obsessed much?! Lol) thanx for the reviews. Will Def check out 'Meet Me in St Louis'

Yes! I'm glad to see you have The Hogfather on there, I watch it every christmas. I try to read the book that it is based on too. Lots of extra back story.
No mention of Elf?!?! It's probably the only Christmas movie that I could watch continuously year after year. Will Ferrell screaming at the top of his lungs, Peter Dinklage mistaken for an angry elf, an incomprehensible love story. It has it all lol
I feel like they didn't mention it because it has reached that "Classic" status already. They were more trying to find hidden gems, Elf is already pretty beloved I feel.
"The Muppets Christmas Carol" is a classic! That's the best one. "Meet Me in St. Louis" one of my favorites and on my shelf of Feel Good movies (for when I don't feel good and can rewatch anytime) I agree with your wife, it's great. But you missed the main point, doc. You got the secondary story which was The Boy Next Door, the main point was family; how a family helps and encourages each other, loves each other, grows together, even when a new family begins, and when a big change or problem comes up they work together or compromise to get through it and make it better. Even the father learns, after everyone else does. There is SO much more, but without giving spoilers this summarizes it. I am not a huge Rom Com fan (actually first time I have ever used that term) but I love "The Holiday." Eli Wallach was adorable! Just watch all of his scenes and those with Kate or Jack. Eloise at Christmastime is my MOST favorite Chrimus movie. It's fun and super holly and jolly with lots of incredible actors! It's got romance, tomfoolery, and even a Big Bad. It's simply a delight and I can't recommend it enough. (Though if you want to cry, you gotta watch The Family Stone, I weep every time Diane Keaton is on screen)
I recommend The House Without A Christmas Tree. It was made in the early '70's and I believe it was a made for television film. It's low budget and slow, but very heartwarming. This is a movie that I watch every year.
IMO - you missed the main conflict of Meet Me in St Louis, it's that the family does not move to New York for their dad's job as St Louis is their home and they're all sad to leave it. And in the end, they get to stay. A sub-conflict is 'Will Judy Garland get the boy next door?', but there's so much more to it. Think deeper!!! Enjoyed the vid!
I love having new Christmas movies to watch, but I think the "Christmas Classics" are probably just whatever ones you saw as a kid around Christmas time. So they are great because they encapsulate all the childlike wonder stuff that we all had and then lost when we got older and lamer. If I didn't see Jingle All the Way as a kid in my PJ's staying up too late with hot chocolate, than it's probably not gonna quite do it for me. I am now going to watch Arthur Christmas however, because I was completely unaware of it, and I trust your opinion or whatever. Thanks, Craig!
"We're No Angels" is an excellent movie! So funny! You also need to add "Bell, Book, and Candle" to your list. Very quirky Jimmy Stewart and Kim Novak movie. Both of these are a Christmas tradition in my family.
If you watch “The Bishops Wife” be sure it’s the original. Ticks off all the boxes. Charming, Christmas, romance, comedy and philosophical. One of my favorites. Dudley the angel... aaahhhh
I’m so happy to see We’re No Angels on this list. That was my family’s go-to Christmas movie every year. Such a sweet movie about convicts. Love Adolphe the snake.
Yes, me too. Seen Family Stone maybe 7-8 times now. It still works for me. I know many hate it and it does have some bad moments but overall it's a fine Christmas movie.
I used to like this movie because I was in love with Rachel McAdams but then I realized that she's not even in it that much and I can't stand Sarah Jessica Parker.
Thank you SO MUCH for the recomendation. We decided to watch Arthur Christmas and were completely smitten with it. It will now be part of our family Christmas season tradition, too!
I LOVE Meet Me in St. Louis! As a musical lover who’s a born and bred St. Louisan, that movie (and White Christmas staring Bing Crosby) have been Christmas traditions for my mom and I since I was a wee child
While you were sleeping with Sandra bullock. Perfect Christmas movie. !!!!! Love your videos, you have inspired me to take a break from Facebook. Thank you for your videos. Your wife is beautiful and your baby is adorable. keep doing what you do!
Love this new style of video. You both seem very relaxed and just living your lives! You should do this with overlooked classics in general! Super fun!
I LOVE Meet Me is St Louis. It is always the one I think of with all the perfect elements for a fun, and fuzzy Christmas movie. And it has the best Christmas song, Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas. Sigh. :)
"Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas" originally included the next line, "it may be your last," until Judy Garland insisted it be changed. The best Christmas movie, IMO, is the 1952 Scrooge starring Alastair Sim. Just perfect. Plus, the original Grinch -- from the 60's. And, Charlie Brown Christmas.
Rise of the Guardians has a pretty great feel to it and is worth mentioning. And of course, Scrooged. I love that one. I've watched it quite a few times. The ones that I watch every year are Elf, the cartoon version of How the Grinch Stole Christmas, and the b&w version of Christmas Carol with Alastair Sim, what an amazing actor. His portrayal of Scrooge can't be touched. (I know those are already classics so not on the list.)
I watched Arthur Christmas for the first time last year, and I was also very pleasantly surprised. It's definitely going to be an annual Christmas regular for me. But nothing can replace It's a Wonderful Life for me.
The Ref is straight up my family. “You know what I’m gonna get you next Christmas, Mom? A giant cross so anytime you feel under appreciated you climb on up there and nail yourself to it!” I mean Dennis Leary is kind of terrible and there are significant comedic timing issues, but it’s got some great stuff.
I highly recommend "The Wool Cap". William H Macy is absolutely BRILLIANT in this (technically made-for-TV) movie, and it yanks all the heart strings, and it has snow, AND Macy doesn't say a single word for the entire movie. BOOM! Christmas Classic.
I went to see Arthur Christmas in cinemas when it first came out. Most people I know have seen it, but I live in the UK so maybe it’s just a thing here. That and The Holiday are on tv every year for us anyway! Might have to give the others a watch though!
I'm going to throw one in the hat: Trading Places. It is a well known movie and heavy on the Christmas themes but is it known as a holiday movie? I never thought so. But it's great! I also love this little known movie called Christmas story (not the leg lamp one) takes place in Finland (not the serial killer one) about the origin of Santa Claus. He was orphaned as a child and raised by a different family in the village for a year each until he winds up with the town grouch who is also rich and runs a wood shop. He takes him in when he is almost grown and tried to treat him like a servant first but then takes to the kid and ends up apprenticing him etc. It's a sweet version of the Santa story. It's always dark in the scandanavian winter and it's a heavy story so it's pretty melancholy but I just loved it. Perfect when you just can't jingle anymore.

"Whatever the hell we think is good. This is our video." Love you guys. I'm with you-love "The Holiday”-and agree with the “Cameron Diaz”-shaped problem. But that’s just necessary counterpoint to the fantastic story between Iris (Kate Winslet) and Miles (Jack Black).
I moved from Germany to Norway and in both these countries you have to watch "Drei Haselnüsse für Aschenbrödel" (Three Wishes for Cinderella) at Christmastime. I remember one year when they just didn't show it in Germany and because of pressure from the public they had to change the tv schedule to somehow fit this film in.
Capitalism is what built this country and why we all enjoy our modern luxuries. If you think capitalism is bad...go live in commie china or socialist vebezuela and enjoy your 5 hour wait to buy milk. Liberals are so clueless... the real enemy is "crony capitalism"...which is the democrat political platform and the global elites NWO and oligarchy of creating a world of slaves. Turn off CNN and do some fact-finding and your own logic-based thinking
@@theyliveyousleep4460 Bold of you to assume I live in the USA and consume the media you list (I do not). I appreciate capitalism for allowing me and everyone around me to get access to goods and services that otherwise would be very difficult to get, and for giving us a estructure and basis for work. However, I can criticize the sistem I'm in precisely because I know it so well. The movie Family Man points out some of the flaws of capitalism: how oppresive the work hours can be (I agree with you on the "world of slaves"), how much a "meaningless" (if you allow me the term) job can be counterproductive to the development of family life, how trying to live exclusively with money as our primary value and care is pretty isolating, and as another commenter said: it is very easy to be greedy in this sistem, and to make your greed a harm to others around you. So I hope you have a merry Christmas. The world is complex, and it's much better if we exercise our capacity to look at complexity right in the eye, no? (also, your comment looks as if you usually copy-paste it. are you okay?)
Capitalism is not above criticism. While I'd rather have capitalism than total socialism (as you rightly mention, extremely socialist countries are a little effed up), it's important not to forget that the modern human's happiness is too reliant on materialism, and that in order for Western countries to be affluent third world countries have to continue being poor as fuck, which is really sad and messed up. I recommend reading Ursula Le Guin's short story "The Ones Who Walk Away From Omellas". That'll give you an idea of what I'm trying to say. Correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't all first-world countries basically capitalistic/consumerist? Canada might be more left-leaning, but it's still capitalist like the US is, yet the US differs by having very fucked up health insurance. That shit is the bad side of capitalism and needs to be criticised, just as an example. When @ojiverdeconfleco says the movie is very "anti-capitalism", they're likely referring to the good feeling you get from watching something that exposes our insatiable lust to buy new stuff we don't need all the time, not that they necessarily HATE capitalism. It seems like you didn't quite understand this or just wanted a silly excuse to spread bigotry, to the detriment of your otherwise somewhat valid argument, instead perhaps proving that conservatives are the clueless ones.@@theyliveyousleep4460
NikEdw70 YES! this is my husband and his twin brother’s #1 CHRISTMAS FAVORITE haha. They watch it at least once every December. (As well as Krampus... because they only like horror movies...even at Christmas). It’s too spooky to be a yearly classic for me, but it *is* definitely a great movie.
@@kirstennielsen5832 If they havent seen these shorts from before the actual movie -i can recommend them both: vimeo.com/16878465 and vimeo.com/16878867
"Well isn't that a pretty picture. Santa rolling down the block in a panzer. Well I sure hope you have been good this year kids cuz it looks like santa just took out the Pearson home, Incoming!" -Tim Allen, The Santa clause Every year I watch this movie and EVERY year this line cracks me up. Your wife is right to go back to this movie every year.
My recommendation for your list is Joyeux Noel. It is not super saccharine, it's based on a true story, it heavily features the Christmas spirit, and ends on an ambiguous highish note? Because the war is still going on? It's great, though.
The three titles I would add to your viewing list are: Scrooged, The Muppet Christmas Carol and Christmas with the Kranks. Of course, two are Christmas Carol re-imaginings but I love them both -- they're funny and touching at the same time. As for Christmas with the Kranks, you've got two Xmas movie vets (Tim Allen and Jamie Lee Curtis) in a story where an empty-nest couple do their best to resist the Christmas Spirit. It's predictable, but a very satisfying film to watch. Lastly, I'll say NetFlix's The Christmas Chronicles is blowing everyone away. My social media accounts are filled with people gushing about it. I absolutely agree with them.
@@jaykong1128 Wait, what? Why would it not be? This struck me as a very misplaced question, why would our traditions of watching Donald Duck (Kalle Anka) exclude any immigrants? Please do explain further.
The Apartment is a fantastic movie (Best Picture, 1960). It is only tangentially related to Christmas, though. But Jack Lemmon and Shirley Maclaine are the cutest movie couple EVAR.
Just watched Christmas Chronicles last night and I found it highly amusing. Best portrayal of Santa ever! On the other hand, not even one reindeer fart joke.
i am so excited to see the Apartment highlighted in your quest, if only briefly! it's my favorite movie of all time, so i actually totally understand it not being your pick for a New Classic Christmas Movie--like the most depressing and harrowing events in the movie happen on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. HOWEVER! if you ever decide on a New Year's Eve where you just want sit on the couch and watch movies, maybe give this one a second look! the themes and events of the movie are more in line with what New Year's represents, like the desire for self-improvement, moving forward in life with the help of others, and letting go of the things you think you need but that can actually chain you down if you let them! PLUS it's just a movie that gets funnier with repeat viewings, i think :) ALSO SINCE I'VE ALREADY WRITTEN WAY TOO MUCH HERE'S MY X-MAS MOVIE RECS (THAT MAYBE SOME PEOPLE AIN'T SEEN BUT SHOULD): 1) Will Vinton's Claymation Christmas Celebration (the x-mas special my family's been watching since its TV premiere in 1987. featuring the CALIFORNIA RAISINS, BRO!!!! hard to find, but worth the effort, i think) 2) A Garfield Christmas (ALSO been watching this since 1987. betcha didn't think Garfield could ever make ya cry!! WATCH IT ON TH-cam!!!!) 3) the Shop Around the Corner (mentioned in Wheezy's list; it's a pretty recent favorite of mine! been watching it for about six years now. having never really been a fan of It's A Wonderful Life but always being a fan of Jimmy Stewart, this feels like a pretty acceptable replacement! there's even still an attempted suicide, if that's what you're into!! but it's sweet, sentimental, charming, funny, and very very CHRISTMAS-Y. try it! go on, try it!!!!!) wow anyway i'm sorry, i don't comment very often on anything ever so i know this was too long, i'm sorry, i just got excited I'M SORRY but happy holidays sorry bbbyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyye
This video is set at Christmas, this video has some snow, this video has a cozy feel ... THIS is the perfect Christmas movie.

I watch The Family Stone every year. That's my pick
Me too. It's my favorite Christmas movie, even though it makes me cry every time.
@@jewelsjoy12 same :(
Yes, me too.
Lovef
Thank you SO MUCH for the recomendation. We decided to watch Arthur Christmas and were completely smitten with it. It will now be part of our family Christmas season tradition, too!
I was drinking my hot cocoa, then BUTT FIRST happend, I dropped my hot cocoa on the floor, BUTT FIRST it went through my nose. Thank You.
I'm glad The Bishop's Wife made your extended list. It's one of my favorites.
Oooh. The Bishop's Wife is a good choice. Also White Christmas will never be topped for me.
I LOVE Meet Me in St. Louis! As a musical lover who’s a born and bred St. Louisan, that movie (and White Christmas staring Bing Crosby) have been Christmas traditions for my mom and I since I was a wee child
SCROOGED (1988)
Just so it's on here twice…
Also yes! Fuck
It’s a TOASTER!
yule love it!
My sister and I watch The Holiday every year. I don't even remember how the tradition started we are just obsessed with it for some reason.
Love actually
While you were sleeping with Sandra bullock. Perfect Christmas movie. !!!!! Love your videos, you have inspired me to take a break from Facebook. Thank you for your videos. Your wife is beautiful and your baby is adorable. keep doing what you do!
While You Were Sleeping. Where's that movie?? How did no one suggest it??
I love that movie!
Best one EVER! "These mashed potatoes are so creamy..." 😄
Fully agree
Ohhh ... good one
What about The Shining?
Love this new style of video. You both seem very relaxed and just living your lives! You should do this with overlooked classics in general! Super fun!
You should add Just Friends and The Family Stone to the list.
Matthew Boyd love the family Stone
I LOVE Meet Me is St Louis. It is always the one I think of with all the perfect elements for a fun, and fuzzy Christmas movie. And it has the best Christmas song, Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas. Sigh. :)
Jingle all the Way was a Christmas classic at my house.
That movie was so bizarre it could have been directed by Tommy Wiseau.
It's a classic all year round for me
The Bells of St Mary’s is one of my favorites. The scene where the children tell the Christmas story is adorable.
I was going to say "Planes, Trains, and Automobiles", but that's about Thanksgiving. Still really funny though.
The Snowman (1982). I missed the call for proposals
"Polar express" highly recommended! There's the cartoon version of Tom Hanks in it ;)
“The Apartment” is so good! Glad you got around to watching it.
It’s not a Christmas movie without blood and guts. Die Hard all way. “Yippie Kai yay, Fozzy!”
And Lethal Weapon
Long Kiss Goodnight
@@annacope1718 Try Children of Men.
@@012276daws was Children of Men one? It's been awhile since I've watched it.
A giant cross so anytime you feel under appreciated you climb on up there and nail yourself to it!”
I mean Dennis Leary is kind of terrible and there are significant comedic timing issues, but it’s got some great stuff.
Drew Liedtke My Mom watched that and was bummed out. Great Movie, wait Awesome movie.
Love The Ref
I highly recommend "The Wool Cap". William H Macy is absolutely BRILLIANT in this (technically made-for-TV) movie, and it yanks all the heart strings, and it has snow, AND Macy doesn't say a single word for the entire movie. BOOM! Christmas Classic.
Jingle all the way is one of our families favorites.
Jonathan Torbenson mine too!
"Those are MY cookies!"
My family's classic is definitely We're No Angels. So witty, fun and still has this festive feel to it. I think you'd enjoy it.
Love actually is my favourite
I went to see Arthur Christmas in cinemas when it first came out. Most people I know have seen it, but I live in the UK so maybe it’s just a thing here. That and The Holiday are on tv every year for us anyway! Might have to give the others a watch though!
SCREWGED with bill murray... thats our families classic
Absolutely! Such an overlooked Christmas gem :)
My favorite!
terrible movie
Scrooged...yes
ITS A TOASTER!
“Feeling Whelmed” is absolutely the way I feel about most things. I’m happy to know that someone else says this.
Im still gonna stick by Mean Girls as a feel good movie that has Christmas in it.

Man the Star Wars Christmas special is the best lol
We like to watch that on Thanksgiving to kick off the season.
As a huge Star Wars fan I'm going to say you don't need to see it more than once.
Chyna is so great, you picked a winner there Craig!
Please add "Love Actually" to your list. Very Christmassy and it has some brilliant British actors starring in it.
Eloise at Christmastime is excellent too!!
Christmas with the Kranks is one of my favorite Christmas movies.
The Family Stone FTW!
This channel honestly has some of the funniest original stuff on TH-cam. You guys always have me pausing the video to laugh!
I like Family Man as a Christmas movie, very anti capitalism. Though my faves to watch this time of the year is, obviously, the Harry Potter movies.
I thought it was anti-greed, but I also like it. Don't most Christmas movies fit your definition?
Ooooh, I forgot Family Man is pretty Christmas-y! I love that movie.
I've only watched a few of your videos. Just wanted to say I love your editing, humor and the interaction between the 2 of you two.
You will LOVE Rare Exports: A Christmas Tale
NikEdw70 YES! this is my husband and his twin brother’s #1 CHRISTMAS FAVORITE haha. They watch it at least once every December. (As well as Krampus... because they only like horror movies...even at Christmas). It’s too spooky to be a yearly classic for me, but it *is* definitely a great movie.
@@kirstennielsen5832 If they havent seen these shorts from before the actual movie -i can recommend them both: vimeo.com/16878465 and vimeo.com/16878867
Oh we discovered rare exports a few years ago and it's one of our faves!!!
"Well isn't that a pretty picture. Santa rolling down the block in a panzer. Well I sure hope you have been good this year kids cuz it looks like santa just took out the Pearson home, Incoming!" -Tim Allen, The Santa clause
Every year I watch this movie and EVERY year this line cracks me up. Your wife is right to go back to this movie every year.
My recommendation for your list is Joyeux Noel. It is not super saccharine, it's based on a true story, it heavily features the Christmas spirit, and ends on an ambiguous highish note? Because the war is still going on? It's great, though.
Tracie Irene: always forget about this one; it’s very good.
Yes!
Hooray for not being American, instead if you are a Swede you just watch Donald Duck Christmas special every year.
Hahaha same thing in Finland. Donald Duck every year, until the end of times!
Team Scandinavia! :) We also watch it in Norway~
are the migrants okay with that? not very inclusive towards them I would think....:(
I gotta see this movie!
White Christmas
And I just watched Christmas chronicles a Netflix original and actually it was amazing
Christmas Chronicles was mostly mediocre, but the ending was quite good.
Just watched Christmas Chronicles last night and I found it highly amusing. Best portrayal of Santa ever! On the other hand, not even one reindeer fart joke.
oscargordon 😂so true!
John Clark I can see that opinion! Most of the Christmas movies are mediocre lol😂
i am so excited to see the Apartment highlighted in your quest, if only briefly! it's my favorite movie of all time, so i actually totally understand it not being your pick for a New Classic Christmas Movie--like the most depressing and harrowing events in the movie happen on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. HOWEVER! if you ever decide on a New Year's Eve where you just want sit on the couch and watch movies, maybe give this one a second look! the themes and events of the movie are more in line with what New Year's represents, like the desire for self-improvement, moving forward in life with the help of others, and letting go of the things you think you need but that can actually chain you down if you let them! PLUS it's just a movie that gets funnier with repeat viewings, i think :)
ALSO SINCE I'VE ALREADY WRITTEN WAY TOO MUCH HERE'S MY X-MAS MOVIE RECS (THAT MAYBE SOME PEOPLE AIN'T SEEN BUT SHOULD):
1) Will Vinton's Claymation Christmas Celebration (the x-mas special my family's been watching since its TV premiere in 1987. featuring the CALIFORNIA RAISINS, BRO!!!! hard to find, but worth the effort, i think)
2) A Garfield Christmas (ALSO been watching this since 1987. betcha didn't think Garfield could ever make ya cry!! WATCH IT ON TH-cam!!!!)
3) the Shop Around the Corner (mentioned in Wheezy's list; it's a pretty recent favorite of mine! been watching it for about six years now. having never really been a fan of It's A Wonderful Life but always being a fan of Jimmy Stewart, this feels like a pretty acceptable replacement! there's even still an attempted suicide, if that's what you're into!! but it's sweet, sentimental, charming, funny, and very very CHRISTMAS-Y. try it! go on, try it!!!!!)
wow anyway i'm sorry, i don't comment very often on anything ever so i know this was too long, i'm sorry, i just got excited I'M SORRY but happy holidays sorry bbbyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyye
