    Since you guys are constantly thanking us for viewing, I just want to thank you both for not having endless burn-in ads on your channel. I cyclically unsubscribe from so many channels for this reason. It burns me up after paying for premium to have to sit through multiple 2-3 minutes ads for online therapy or manscaping products. Thank you guys for reminding me of what TH-cam used to be.

    That shot where you were able to turn the wheel pretty much with your fingertips with Andrew standing on the front really showed off how light the steering must be. Should be magic on the road, given your work with geometry I bet the weight buildup under load should be great too, as well as the feedback.

      We expected it to be good but not this good given that the steering on an Mx5 is just ok. With new bearings and the wheel on tight it'll be another level

    I have been watching this build for awhile now! Super cool car! Completely different than most things people work on in the US. I've got a 1972 Mustang Fastback in my garage and this thing looks like it would fit in the trunk lol. Although something tells me that Project Mosquito will handle a bit better lol! Anyway keep up the good work!

    Another solution to keeping the steering wheel mount from reflecting in the windscreen is to paint it flat black. I know that kind of defeats the purpose of polishing it but if it solves the problem it may be worth it.

    In regard to tire width. Being an old guy I am refering to 70s model cars , I found that wider tyres on a small light car actually gave you less grip, as the car didnt ave the weight to push the tyres into the road. Obviously tyre technology has improved a lot since then , but there is probably still a point where the tyre width works against you

    • @OliverPickard
      @OliverPickard  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Agreed you can definatly over tyre a car but we haven't gone too crazy or gone for low profile tyres with stiff sidewalls so we should be fine with 1bar/14psi front 1.4/20.3psi rear as our starting pressures

    Hi. 2 things. I'm not too OCD, but a hole on the opposite side of the steering wheel hub would add lightness, and symmetry. Also, a flat plate with a cutout for the steering column, welded to the steering column, and bolted to a flat plate that is welded to the "dash bar", seems like a more high end solution to the upper steering column hanger. I know you have both planned the whole car to your liking, but both the upper and lower strap hangers just seem less, I don't know the perfect word, but they seem less "finished" maybe? They are certainly more than strong enough, but they remind me of plumbing pipe hangers. I'm not trying to be insulting, and I hate to criticize your work, but that's how they struck me when I saw what you were building. Sort of just a couple of steps below the rest of your work. Thanks for taking the time to read my comment, and again, really nice car!!!

    • @OliverPickard
      @OliverPickard  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@jimalexander9230 I don't mind at all don't worry it's ok to critique. Because of regulations we require a steering lock and of course the gauges share the same space. I'm also I'm tempted to change the column outer tube to aluminium so it was more important the claps be low profile, adjustable and lightweight rather than esthetically pleasing because you won't see them in the finished car.

The design cues look really familiar, but I just can't put a name to it, and the fact that I keep seeing it in the videos but still can't instantly recognise it is starting to play on my mild OCD. Dual as in 2 disk brake calipers at 5 and 7 o'clock not only doubles braking it provides added steering !!! That's impossible to do any other way !!!
