Hello my friend, Today, I started working with a lathe machine. I'm a beginner. This information will be useful to me. I'm taking notes. thank you for sharing. see you later. big greetings.
I’m so glad it will be useful. If there’s anything I can do to help you as you get started with wood turning please don’t hesitate to ask. Enjoy your new art my friend. It’s the most fun that you can have in a woodshop in my opinion. Cheers sir. Paul

@@ToolMetrix Thank you. I'm happy for your suggestion. You are a very kind and friendly person. Stay healthy and happy. See you anytime. Cheers mate.
You're right, it is addictive so enter at your own risk! 🤣😂 I use the Niles products and love them! Carl and Ruth do an amazing job and the quality is superb! This was a great video and nice work on the stoppers! I got several of the honeycomb blanks and they're super fun to turn! They created a monster for sure! Lol
Nicely done Paul! I have made many bottle stoppers in the past. They are fun and really make nice gifts. I have also been subscribed to Carl's YT channel for quite some time now. He always does great work & is an amazing turner! 👍👍😉😉
Hi Harry, thank you. I've done these both ways, and the main reason that I like using the threaded insert is that they go on an off the mandrel so much easier. But you're right, that's a valid approach as well.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe Gorilla Glue is water activated. It should work a little better if you, say, dip the insert in water real quick before inserting it.
You’re right that it is, and you would probably be better off doing that, but if you have ever gotten that stuff on something that you didn’t want to you know that it forms a pretty good bond even without water.
hey paul i thought i had re-subscribed but i guess i didnt but anyway i had to get a new tablet a while back so i had to subscribe again just to let u know my friend. chris
Fantastic job Paul! I never thought about the stopper not fitting in the fridge if it's to tall, great point.
Thanks Carl! 🙏
Yah! Nice as these look, if the stopper turned out too tall on the bottle, might make getting a new fridge a priority! 😉
Ha! I like how you think, Chuck. Thanks for watching. Cheers, Paul
I didn't either but makes sense!
The tip on using the forstner bit to true up the bottom is priceless. My time was well spent watching this video just for that one idea! Thank you!!
Thanks Doug. I learned that from the master @Carl Jacobson. It was a big aha moment for me as well. Cheers, Paul
Thank you for showing me a better way to make these!
Thanks for watching, and for your feedback!
Thanks for the tips. I was planning to make several for Christmas.
Awesome. Enjoy!
It is extreamly addictive. Nice work paul.
Thanks my brother 🙏
Very comprehenseive and informative. You covered everything needed to produce a good bottle stopper. Thanks!
Thanks 🙏
I just started and I'm totally hooked!
Awesome!!!

Newbie also..after about 15 pens, made my first stopper today cork base.
Not real pleased, but I enjoyed the process..
The next one will be better. Best of luck.

Those look great Paul!
Thanks sir 🙏
Learned a lot. Thank you for explaining how and why.
Awesome. Thanks Christian. Cheers, Paul
NICE work. Appreciate the time and tips 👍

Thanks Steve! Yeah I was watching Carls videos even before I got my first lathe. Great craftsman and outstanding teacher.
Where did you obtain the honeycomb blanks. Looks amazing!
Thanks Tim. Niles Bottle Stoppers sells them.
Nice job Paul. Is there a reason you chose to use a threaded insert instead of just running threads directly into the stock?
Hi Harry, thank you. I've done these both ways, and the main reason that I like using the threaded insert is that they go on an off the mandrel so much easier. But you're right, that's a valid approach as well.
Good looking piece Paul. Also, I use gorilla Glue on all of my mandrel work. I have not had any mandrel piece blow up since doing that.
Thanks James. Good to know on the Gorilla glue. Cheers
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe Gorilla Glue is water activated. It should work a little better if you, say, dip the insert in water real quick before inserting it.
@@SkewToob it is, I normally dip the metal in water add glue the insert

Where do you get the honeycomb resin blanks?
nilesbottlestoppers.com/
Cool!
Thanks 🙏
That rosewood would have been cool
Rosewood is awesome for turning, and yep that stuff that you had would have been superb for bottle stoppers.
Can you recommend a good lathe under or around $1,000? Or 2k and below?
We use the Laguna 1216 in the Vetsturn program and that’s a great option for under $1000. For a few hundred more I like the nova 1624.
@@ToolMetrix thank you sir
Nice video
Thanks 🙏
