Protestant here checking in to thank you for bringing in Bishop Barron.
These roundtables are where we dig even deeper to find the truth and meaning of the gospel stories and show scenes.
Agreed 👍🏼
They are inspired and inspiring.Never watch "man" motivated roundtable discussions but these are superb and I would watch them always. Kudos 👍🏻👍🏻⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Yes, and we appreciate the discussions of the 3 gentlemen in this conversation and the other ones that have added their perspective. God Bless them. 🙏🏻🙏🏻☺☺
We Catholics actually have an ancient practice where on Ash Wednesday, the priest will mark our foreheads with ashes made from palm branches that were blessed at last year’s Palm Sunday. We do it as a sign of repentance for our sins.
With all the division that often splatters in conversations of Faith it’s refreshing to see these round table discussions. Great job Dallas🕯👍🏼🕯
These discussions I feel should happen after every episode. A Catholic bishop, a rabbi, and a Protestant minister all together putting forth different perspectives. As a Catholic, I love it that Bishop Barron is on these discussions. He is just brilliant. God bless Dallas Jenkins.
Agreed 👍🏼
Amen.
Me too
I wish the panel had asked BP Barron if he still thinks of Jesus as the “privileged way”.. Also, a follow up question I would ask Bp Barron is: does he still proclaim belief in Hans Urs Von Balthasar's theory that hell might be empty... just curious..
Wish they'd get an Orthodox priest to advise as well. Fr. Barnabas Powell would be great, he's a former Pentecostal pastor who converted to Orthodoxy 20+ years ago, very humble and funny, charming man.
Nathaniel’s story is one of if not my most favorite so far! I cannot tell you how many times I have watched that episode simply to watch Nathaniel’s redemption and surrender to Christ!
Mine is the 1st. Mary's 2 stories.
The 2nd is that one.
@@indiecouncil3057 I agree with you that Mary’s was great, too but I also love Nicodemus!
I think the scene of Nathaniel asking God "Do you see me!?" is probably one of the most powerful moments in Season 2 for me. Edited to say I promise I typed the comment before I heard Bishop Barron say the exact same thing, ha!
One of my favorite scenes as well. Very relatable, and superb acting!!
One of my very favourite scenes of all too. I return to watch it often. Very powerful. Thankyou Dallas and team for your great work.
Agreed it hit me
Thus particular scene is absolutely hands down my new favorite that I watch over and over and over and over and cry like a baby as he is correct it does get into your soul. That young man is so talented and he truly has the love of Jesus in him!!!
As someone who has more than once in anguish prayed for their own death , very accurate depiction of a Mental Breakdown .
God bless you.
Peace be with you
This scene of Nathanael failing and asking God if He sees him, touched the deepest part of my soul. Thank you! I relate to this!
Can't wait for these roundtables to be released in the S2 Special Edition DVD this spring! They are so theologically informative and add so much to watching the episodes discussed. This chat is particularly special because of Dallas's own story of how The Chosen was "birthed".
That scene is one of the most relatable moment. We have innumerable 'under the fig tree' moments asking God 'Do you see me????
And all the while He's there....
That's the truth!
It’s so great to see Bishop Barron on there. He has such great wisdom.
Católicos ciegos
I cried with Nathaniel under the fig tree, and cried again when he knew Jesus saw him. It was a beautiful scene.
When i read this passage, i cried too much like i am that Nathaniel that during my trials God saw me and when i watched the clip the passage give life to that scene.
I had this exact question on my mind every time I watched this episode! This show is getting me through some very dark and lonely times. I hope you read this Dallas. This show is definitely divinely inspired. Just like the song All My Favorite Colors... My sister's and my brothers...
Also for anyone hoping for unity under Christ I find I learn a lot from the rabbi with the TH-cam channel The Jewish Jesus.
Sorry to hear you are going through dark times. I pray that sunshine will come soon.
@@kwkw5711 Thank you and all prayers most gratefully appreciated.
Happy to see Bishop Barron in the crew. Love every one who are a part of this life Changing show about OUR LORD.
Thank you guys for making these Amazing conversations available. Please do more of these chats... really blessed my heart. Can't wait for the released of season 2
This is some Seminary level conversations. I would binge watch this for real!
Bishop Barron, always a delight.
No.
I always wondered what Nathaniel prayed under that tree on that day. Must have been a good one. This is a acceptable visual of what might have happened. Good work.
Love this scene as well. Beautifully portrayed. Thank you for the round table discussion. Very insightful
I ❤️❤️❤️❤️the round table discussions. I’ve been waiting for them all season. I’m glad they are here✝️✝️✝️✝️
Most moving scene in season two: Nathaniel‘a recognition of divinity of Jesus and Jesus says “There it is.” What He waits for… that moment where He’s got ya! It is not a book moment, not a belief, not accepting Him as Lord and savior, no, the whole mind , body soul recognition. God must be experienced, all the rest is hearsay.
Favorite moments from Season 2 are definitely from that episode...
- do you see me?
- come and see
- I saw you.
Wow.
This is a very helpful discussion about this part of scripture. Thank you for posting this because it beautifully expounding upon what it means when God is calling us to Himself, to come to him with a humble heart and in repentance.
Great to see Bishop Barron in this discussion! 🙏🙏
There's a quote from a significant 20th-century artist that keeps popping into my head, "The meaning of life is to find your gift. The purpose of life is to give it away." - Pablo Picasso. I'm sure that Picasso was not much of a religious man, but to me, this quote is profoundly spiritual and applies to Nathanael's/Bartholomew's and many others' lives. We may think we know where God intends
to lead each of us, but we often get it wrong. Like, St. Francis of Assisi misunderstood God's charge to build his Church. So he went out fixing up a church building when God meant the Church proper, not just a building. Nathanael/Bartholomew made the same mistake. I found this scene very moving.
This is beautiful! Thank you for sharing the quote and your thoughts. It's got me pondering, and I must share this quote with my students!
The scenes with Nathaniel under the tree and then the one with Jesus were very powerful to me because it showed Nathaniel’s pain of failure (which everyone experiences in this lifetime) and him seeking God. Then the scene when he was with Jesus, being told that he was seen under the tree.
I'm so happy to have Season 1 and 2 on DVD! The Lord is using you for something that will never EVER be forgotten in heaven. This series touches your viewers to the core. 🙏 Thank you!
Discussions with a rabbi. priest, and theologian are terrific.
Agreed 👍🏼
A jew Who doesnt think Jesus is his saviour? No thank you
@@ElmachitoSilbateador God doesn’t discriminate between religion and the Jews are just as much as his children as we are. The Jews are our older siblings.
@@ElmachitoSilbateador He is a Messianic Jewish rabbi.
@@Powerranger-le4up we are Gods children once we become part of Gods family which means becoming Christian. That is what makes us part of Christs body. Everyone can become part of Gods family but that doesn’t mean we automatically are, even if we are part of a false religion. No, we have to repent and follow Christ.
Speaking of sackcloth and ashes, we Catholics have an ancient practice done on Ash Wednesday to mark the beginning of Lent and prepare to celebrate the Resurrection of Jesus. Before the liturgy of the Eucharist is done, we walk up to the front and the priest will use ashes made from blessed palm branches from last year’s Palm Sunday to mark our foreheads. The mark is in the shape of a cross and the ashes are an outward sign of penance for our sins. Most of us won’t wash the ashes off until we have to shower or bathe. Non Catholics and even the excommunicated are allowed to receive the ashes on their foreheads.
Some of the more liturgical denominations of Protestant Christianity do this too.
Methodists started doing in in the early 90s. It's an optional tradition.
Our priest sprinkles them on too of our heads in a nid to ancient times. It's a beautiful service.
The more we can look at God, the smaller any obstacle here dwindles. Good discussion! 🌿
The scene with Nathaniel is so heartbreaking and so relatable because yes we've all had those when we wonder if God sees us. Again so heartbreaking and relatable 💔😭
I just finished season 2 and want to thank all those involved for this wonderful gift.
I am, what you might call, a budding Christian. I have not yet fully leaned into the faith, not because I do not want to but because I do not yet feel ready - In some ways I believe that it is God saying to me “not yet”.
Recently I have been praying for guides, lo and behold I discover this show. The humanisation of the stories has touched me in a way the bible has not yet been able to, that isn’t to diminish the role of the bible in my spiritual life, quite the opposite, it’s has deepened the role. Now I can read the bible with an understanding that the apostles are just like me, trying to figure this whole thing out. Even Jesus is presented in this way, though very much not like me - which creates in me a drive to be like Jesus or understand how I can better follow Jesus.
With all that, I thank you again! And look forward to season 3
I feel that The Chosen and the round tables are bringing all of us to a unity of faith, which Christ said, must come! I love this wonderful experience of sharing Jesus. Thank you.
I was once in a very long trial I called the "10-year takedown", came out at the end of it with nothing. There was a day I bowed low on the ground, grabbed a handful of nearby dry dirt and dumped it on my head. Didn't even care about dirt in my hair. There was something so emotionally satisfying and physically appropriate about expressing my grief and loss in that way - and I was fully aware of the ritual of tearing one's clothes and pouring dust on one's head.
The moment Nathaniel recognizes Jesus as the Lamb of God still gives me a chill every time I see it.
The actor who plays Nathaniel did such a fabulous job during that scene!
Bravo Bravo Bravo Bravo..wish the world were as giving and as friendly as you guys!!!I gain so much of good sense!! Many tks....wish I had ggown up with sharing your patience, and understanding!!!?
I'm currently in the process of becoming a licensed architect. I have two test remaining. Both of which have a fail rate around 50%. I took both last week and failed. My score card indicated that I failed both test by less than two or three questions. I was devastated and frustrated, angry, tired, you name it. I saw this scene after a few days and immediate opened my bible to read this story. I 100% ran back to the Father. He is good and faithful to remind me that He hears, He sees me. I can and will take these test again, and in failure or success I will not run from Him. I lead worship for the youth and college at my church. Excited to tell this story, to remind these kids that Jesus sees them, he knows their true feelings!
..."Sometimes we need our own failure to break open and ... to get god's grace in"...
such a profound truth!
I love that and it's funny because we talked early today about that. God is so good ♡♡♡♡♡
I took it as a sign of mourning for what he thought was calling of God that he was forced to give up in favour of what his true calling of God was, which is encouraging because sometimes our dreams even of how we thought we would serve God, are allowed by God to fail, so we could be directed towards something better. The calling of being the Messiah's apostle and the building of the true, eternal temple was much higher than serving God by building temporary places of worship.
This scene hit home for me in a big way but really the actor (Austin) did an outstanding job - so much of his scene came from his eyes as much as it did his mouth - so intense and beautiful. One of my favorite scenes.
These discussions are so enriching. Comprehensive insights pour out. I come away knowing that failure can bring freedom in so many areas. As I become aware it's not my ability, but allowing grace to step in as I'm a vessel to carry it through. Yes, that's very freeing for the work He wants us to do.
I always believe that in order for God to fill me with graces,i need to be empty first
I just finished re-watching Season 1-2 as I (along with everyone else) patiently wait for Season 3. It was wonderful to go back and see things I missed or thought a scene was one way and it was different or just enjoy it all over again. I’m glad I did too because I thought I watched all of Season 2 when it came out but apparently I missed a couple of episodes.
Nathaniel under the tree reminded me of in 2014 I was being emotionally abused by a guy I thought loved me and I would look up at the ceiling or out my bedroom window and ask God "why are you allowing this?"
This is what should happen after every episode. Please, please, please do this after every episode of season 3. A Catholic Bishop (Bishop Barron), a rabbi, and a Southern Baptist minister with Dallas guiding the discussion. I know the scripts have been written. Anyone know when filming begins. Editing. Airing of season 3? Please tell me airing happens by Easter. God bless Dallas Jenkins❤️🌼🎄🌻🎚😁🚦🎁🌷🌹
If I remember correctly, in the video where Dallas discussed season 3 scripts he said filming would start soon and season 3 will probably release late 2022.
@@joshuatomeny3451 yeah he said it would end by Christmas. So that a lot of people can watch it during the holidays
“the moment of failure so that grace could get in” ❤️🏹📩
@TheChosenSeries
You said lots of people could not related to the specific architect failure…I can tell you I relate directly with Nathaniel because that is exactly what happened with me, I had an architect failure and that was one of the ways the Lords grace broke Into my life and found me… I can understand the death of yourself kind of feeling cause I mourned that death in my life for about 3 years. It was this and a couple other things that caused me to hit rock bottom. So I relate directly with Nathaniel’s story…which is why I love it so much in your series! ❤
I LOVE THESE! PLEASE DO A DICUSSION ON EVERY SHOW!
That story was the most meaningful to me of all in the series so far.

I don’t believe “The resurrection of Gavin stone” was a failure. Dallas’ film had its place in time and the storyline spoke to many hearts 👍🏼
More Bishop Barron please.
L épisode avec Nathaniel est celui qui m as touché le plus car il as répondue à ma question si Dieu nous entends
Honestly, Nathanael's first scene with Jesus was the most powerful for me. Even more powerful than Simon Peter's and Thomas' .
"Don't look at him (Philip), look at ME (Jesus) - this quote is very powerful for me.
I appreciate the producer or director saying there was inspiration in this scene, but I need to know where they find,”truth teller “, because I loved it!
I reckon it's about the level we are at and regardless of our failures or what we think is failure, Jesus meets us at our level and is always with us and He doesn't see us as failures so 💞 🤗

Dallas,
The Resurrection of Gavin Stone is actually a fine movie with good Cinematography, good writing, and good acting. God simply held it down to bring you closer to Him.
I liked it. But it was definitely more like a TV movie rather than a feature film.
You ever seen The Prince of Egypt. The Chosen reminded me of it.
I liked Gavin Stone
Ask God what to do next.. Then Breakthrough
How many times in life I have done the same questions to God, shouting them out of my lungs: "Do you see me? Do you believe in me? Where are you? Am I a joke to you?". With time one learns that God's timeline is unfathomable, and I just have to wait and trust. If He only was a bit less silent...
Thanks for sharing. 🙂

Yo Bishop Barron!
When Will the Many Waiting Out Here Finally Get To See SEASON 3????????
IT'S BEEN FINISHED FOR A WHILE NOW AND EVERYONE IS VERY VERY ANXIOUS 🥰
We will begin filming soon...Here's a sneak peek: th-cam.com/video/kOfo94cj5gc/w-d-xo.html
I watched this interview then re-watched "I Saw You" several times with subtitles. If the accident and the building falling was supposed to be Nathaniel's fault my family missed it completely. We thought it was the foreman and the laborers intentionally not complying with Nathaniel's specifications which caused the accident and unintentional death while achieving their goal of ridding themselves of him the prideful Jew. Then Nathaniel finds himself in a similar Matthew situation except now nobody will hire him.
From building synagogues, to helping build the Church.
Also, related to the scene but unrelated to the subject:
Who is the bushcraft aficionado?
I keep spotting items being used as props and wardrobe (either the same or identical green shemaghs on Little James, the guy who carried Matthew in his cart, others; Nathaniel's ferrocerium rod used to start the fire under the fig tree; the blades used by Philip and Matthew when stripping bark, the backpacks and bags made of leather).
Was wondering if the show had a supplier, and if it was Dallas or someone else who came up with the idea to use these things?

I like that they include the Rabbi because the Jews are God’s chosen people and part of God’s family. As Christians, we are basically the younger spiritual siblings of the Jews and we should respect them.
Chills Can you start to tomorrow ❤️❤️❤️❤️

Nathaniel's greatest moment was when he asked God if he sees him? That question has been asked many time and yes I've asked God this and God do you hear me? God why don't u answer? Funny thing is he always answers but not in the way I wanted. This has been one of my fav episodes.
He makes it personal. Thank you for sharing how you connected with this scene, Donna!
Still in common in the southern outback-villages of Germany between Bavarian*Forrest and Black**Forrest an original katholic tradition was to put ashes on your head on Wednesday after Bavarian „Fasching*“-/Allemanish„Fas(t)en**Nacht- Tuesday knowing about having sinned on the festival days before to welcome springtime, and starting 40 days of lent before Easter.(the night before lent**). The proverb „to put ashes on my head“ also means to feel guilty for what I have done wrong to somebody/everybody by confessing it in public, like „mia culpa, mia maxima culpa“ - an act of repentance. (Low from Munich*BY and Fribourg**, BW, both in Deep South of 🇩🇪)
God bless 🙏🙏🙏
One cannot "dig deeper" to find the truth behind human stories this old. One merely hypothesizes. Almost anything could have been anybody's back story. However, to those familiar with the Gospels, certain things are less likely to have been the back stories.
Is season three coming to the app any time soon?
Because I said I saw you…you believe. It’s something different for each of us to believe.
That Nathanial scene is so great because his failure was also one of his biggest successes! He found his true purpose. The project he was working on was WITHOUT GOD... lol... and now with God Nathanial is better than ever.
I understood the concept of was happening, but maybe this might be out of what they're talking about, but I'd like to know why isn't the baptism of Jesus shown. To me it is an important part of His life.
Anyone know whether principal filming of season 3 has begun? Will season 3 be out by Easter?
He said in the last livestream. Filming begins mid-late April. Season 3 should all be released by the end of the year.
Are all of the season 2 roundtables discussions out somewhere?
This scene, many of us will identify with
Question, the Bible doesn't say that Nathaniel was an Architect, where did that idea come from?
Wow, no place to look but up! ( When you hit rock / dust bottom)
Hi; i am under the impression that the Jews at this time sat under fig trees and read or reflected on the Torah. I just found a reference to a God promise in Micah 4:4.
Does the fig tree represents the old covenant or the law in some way? What then would be the connection between Nathaniel's fig tree and in Jesus cursing the fig tree? Paul says the law is a curse. Thanks for the discussion - it's really got me thinking over here.
If you read your Bible you’d know the ashes are part of a state of grief and repentance in the Jewish life. When king David chested with Bathsheba and they had a baby and baby was sick.. David dressed in sackcloth and ashes and didn’t eat for 7 days! When they reported the baby was dead David immediately arose dressed in his king garments and ate!!! Read your Bible do you know this movie is biblical! Chosen is doing a great job bringing the Bible to life!
Thanks
Nathanael is dressed so smartly and elegantly as an architect, but then as a disciple, he blends in with the others whereas both Matthew and Thomas maintain their fancier outfits. At least, that's what I'm remembering.
Can anyone say where can we watch the videos that we had downloaded in the app
You can watch all episodes, free and easy, at thechosen.tv/app, Ashwin.
@@TheChosenSeries thank you 😊
The phrase "Sackcloth and Ashes" is defined in the Bible as "Mourning and Grief." Therefore every instance of the use of those words in Scripture must be defined correctly before our understanding of what is written becomes correct.
Psalms 30:11
Psalms 35:13
Jeremiah 6:26
Jeremiah 49:3
Ezekiel 7:17
Ezekiel 27:31
Joel 1:13
Amos 8:10
These are the witnesses who correctly define what Sackcloth and Ashes is talking about. God is Spirit and therefore speaks, to and of, the mind and heart, never, about or to, the flesh. All of Scripture must be defined according to how God defines things or we will understand nothing.
And we Catholics have a tradition that we do to mark the start of Lent and prepare to celebrate the Resurrection of Jesus. On Ash Wednesday, the priest will mark our foreheads with ashes made out of palm branches from last year’s Palm Sunday. We use it as a outward sign of penance.
