It's 2024 (I'm 71) and Diana Ross is still number one forever. It was in 1965 when I first saw The Supremes on Shindig and since then I have fallen in love with them
Prime example of how perfectly Flo and Mary’s vocals sound to round off Diana’s voice. Their harmonies were incredible and never the same after Flo was tossed out.
Exactly, when Flo was tossed out you could instantly tell that shytt was never the same. I don't care how many replacements they had and it was at least a dozen scrap irons that came through, people were just enamored with the name Supremes which Flo thought of.
If Flo's voice is as HOT as YOU think: go back to Motowns schedule for the Supremes in recording studio! Flo couldn't make it because of her drinking! HDH brought in another to replace Flo, and they brought the recording to Mr. Gordy to listen ... He was told what happened, and EVERYONE in the company was in agreement!! FLO could be replaced,!! Tough but true!! Ross The Boss has proven her worth!! AND That's NOT TAKING AWAY FROM Mary OR Flo, their contribution! It just didn't work for Flo; She walked away with $160.000.00.. Where was Flo's talent??? 🤔🤔🤔

Thanks for adding! “I Hear A Symphony” is my favorite song. The way their harmonies blend together is amazing. I’m not a singer but technically this seems like a challenging song to sing and this song continued to showcase how the group mastered their harmonies and vocals! NBC studios, 1619 Walnut St. Although I was one year old when this was aired, we enjoyed many happy afternoons laughing our butts off at some of the comedians who were guests of the show. Along with these most talented artists and their contemporaries who were in town to play the Latin Casino, Palumbo's CR Club, JFK Stadium, the Spectrum, even Convention Hall in Atlantic City. Other acts appearing on the show included Sonny & Cher, Jerry Lewis, Judy Garland, Sammy Davis Jr., and probably all of the Rat Pack, (Mama) Cass Elliot, the hysterical Julia Di John (and her wig), and everyone in the day in cinema, television, radio, and nightclubs. Please add your memories of anyone I failed to mention.

The best live album of the supremes is At the Copa. You can really hear the harmonies. The cd of the album plays the entire show that is longer than the original album from 1965.
Diana forgot the opening words to "Symphony," then closed her eyes in relief when she found her vocal spot again. This was one of the first performances with Diana way out in front, and the girls, particularly Flo, don't look too pleased.
She really NEVER has missed a beat all of them true Diva"S hw sweet they look and sound. Flo Ballard doing the high part of the background with Mary on the low is amazing and right in the pocket. Best Live Performance among many by these three!!!!
This is NOT “one of the first performances with Diana way out front”. They often had a stage set up with Diana in the front and to the left, and Flo and Mary in the back and to the right. They had this set up for their performance of “Back In My Arms Again” at Hullabaloo months before, and most groups had a similar set up with the lead up front and the background either off to the side or behind. A better example of blatant staging to emphasize Diana would be their performance of “Love Is Here...” in early 1967. Before then, their staging was pretty consistent with most groups of that time. Leave it to Supremes fans to make something out of nothing lol!
If you have read all of the steps and ways that Flo and Mary go shafted.. by B-Gordy then you would understand.. but no matter what any one says--- UR Sins will find you out!

This is what's called a "window dub" copy, likely a bootleg from a loan. The background: Say a television studio is producing a documentary on Motown Records (as several have been made since the 80's). The owners of this show (Mike Douglas) would reply to a request for a copy of this episode from their archives, but they would put a precision time stamp on the copy. The documentary producers would determine which piece of footage within the episode was desired, return to the Mike Douglas archives with purchase order for a clip from the episode from time A to time B, and then the Mike Douglas archives would return with a high definition tape of just the snip, without the time stamp. The initial window dub is a way of presenting the contents of the episode without giving away a copy of the episode.
