    Question for Peter and for all of you guys...if this taco have a wheel bearing issues is not recomendable after the replacement replace the brake pads and brake disk too? Remember those two elements are on an “steady” position in reference to the hub that is playing around. Again thanks for your awesome videos Peter, Im learning a lot from you.

    @Toyota Maintenance. Thank you Professor Peter for today's lesson on diagnosing and replacing that Toyota Tacoma's two front wheel bearings. Great lesson on the details and care involved.
    In the US, remember that spinach (Popeye) is recommended for extra strength. But I can see you're very strong indeed.
    Hope you and your family stay safe and well.

    Peter, I know you're amused with the horror stories from the "Salt Belt" so let say that shiny bearing you pulled out, would be mistaken for new here. After a year, NOTHING is that free of rust!

  • @dadgarage7966

    Metric fasteners are sized by their major thread diameter, not the hex head size. Edit: in the north east rust belt, road crews put sauerkraut on the roads to melt the snow and ice.

    Want to see what can happen with salt corrosion? Watch, 'Big Nasty Gets Defeated' on the South Main Auto Repair LLC TH-cam channel.
    His recent, 'Challenging Challenger: Part One' is quite funny too. You have to love the smaller and smaller impact sockets being hammered on the the axle nut. Peter is so lucky that he doesn't have to own an oxyacetylene torch as part of his normal tool kit, or a welding machine to remove corroded broken bolts quickly. If Eric O. at South Main can't fix it, nobody can.

    I'm in upstate New York, our roads are covered in road salt five months of the year, Removing a stuck brake rotor? Either beat on it with a sledgehammer or, much easier, cut it off with a cutting disk, the break the rotor into two pieces. In my area those bolt holes never work here.

    • @stevecallachor
      @stevecallachor 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Basicly it's a design problem............the two elements of the double row bearing are too close together.
      Compare with an older spindle design where one(the larger) carries the radial load while a smaller bearing at the outer end of the spindle (6 inches away) carries the load of the axial forces due to moment reaction force.

    Great job, a lot of unnecessary extra work, like a Toyota mechanic finishing up with extra work done? Like rust removal! I have a fully imported Toyota noah sloper I bought second hand here in Aussie as a wheelchair van for my wife They are built in japan already fitted out. I had the local Toyota dealer service the vehicle, after they screwed it up I had a massive job to clean it up inside and out. Bush mechanics I guess, they didn't care!!
