Ed Harris kills bugs throughout the movie, only to be shrunken to the size of a bug at the end, being defeated and humiliated like the pathetic little man that his character is. A brilliant twist of irony!
I love how Kristen Stewart's character lights up the cigarette Daisy gave her while she's trying to dispose of Daisy's body. Especially because Daisy said she should "save it for a special occasion". That was just the cherry on top and the perfect way to end the movie.
and on top of that, it looks like she took cigarettes from daisy’s body, too. and earlier in the movie, when she was trying to quit, she saw cigarettes on jj’s body and left them. symbolizing that she’s gone back to her old, reckless ways for love.
It's an interesting theory that Jackie was abused and that's why she got muscular to protect herself, it would also help explain why she was so angry about Dave Franco's character and made that personal even though she's new to those relationships.
Having the privilege of having you two gentlemen review this film is so, so cool. Ed Harris hair in this movie is the worth the price of admission alone! Keep being you guys!
I think you guys articulated the true brilliance in the screenplay and really brought it out through your review! Not sure how I feel about the ending, but I love what it is trying to say. This year is off to a beyond incredible start!
I love this film. I love the fact that it takes me places to which I had no idea where it was going. the performances are all top shelf. Kristen Stewart keeps going from strength to strength. The film firmly embraces its queerness, which is a huge plus for me.
The film was going pretty strong up until the end, the end reallyyy took me out all the build wasn’t worth her just turning into a giant for 45 seconds then that’s really it, it felt pointless I’m ngl. I was expecting something better maybe a lil deeper and it probably was but it could’ve been better executed in the end imo
I was ready to experience this movie as soon as I saw the trailer with Katy looking beautiful and buff, Ed Harris with that mad dog skullet, and Bronski Beat's 'Smalltown Boy' playing in the background 🥰 I also really liked 'Saint Maud' so I had a feeling that Rose Glass wouldn't disappoint with this one. Thank you for sharing your thoughts on what looks like a violently happy work of lesbian art!
I absolutely LOVED this film and your in-depth analysis of it! There's so much complexity, foreshadowing, and clever details interwoven through the story. Great work!
Lesbians and their murderous ways. LOL! You guys look stunning with the shirts you are both wearing. This film most definitely has my interest and I want to see it!
I have become addicted to watching your videos which is pretty stupid because as in many cases I will watch them before I have seen the movie. I am so interested in this movie that I fast forwarded through this one as to not spoil the entire movie, ha. But thrilled at the end when you guys gave it high numbers. So much to be intrigued by the trailer for this one like Ed Harris looking like Riff Raff from Rocky Horror and, of course, a pretty buff Katy O'Brian.
Nick, can you tell us how you stop yourself from bursting out laughing when Joseph says hilarious things? I swear he makes me laugh out loud on each video. I love watching your face during these moments. Anyway, I hope you two stay together forever.
I really loved the visuals, soundtracks were super mesmerizing. Even just a simple car driving scene. Kristen Stewart looked really cool in this film. She's boyish and attractive. And the chemistry between the two main characters was insane.😊
Funny you guys compared this to Coen Brothers as yous just reviewed DRIVE-AWAY DOLLS and lampooned it. So I guess I know which darkly comedic lesbian crime thriller I’m watching this week lol
I saw both, Rose Glass made a better Cohen Bros movie than Ethan did. Though i didn't think love lies bleed was very comedic. Its a shame, the leads in Drive Away Dolls did their best with the movie.
The trailer definitely gave that this was gonna have more of a "Bones and All" type plot. Nowhere near tonally the same but I definitely thought there would be some bloodlust
Love Lies Bleeding was the cure to the cinematically transmitted disease that was Drive Away Dolls. I loved it. Ed Harris was serving Fever Ray's latest mutation, Kristen Stewart was giving Christina Ricci when she played Aileen Wuornos gf in MONSTER, and Katy O'Brian turned me gay. As an off off off-season bodybuilder, the taller you are, the less impact (the less muscle) you appear to have. Therefore, the visual impact of THAT scene was drastically reduced by its own hubris. I also wish we got MORE of Jackie's backstory. A lover of St. Maud, I appreciate Rose Glass's use of body horror balanced with drama; meaty action and swift narrative balanced with passionate acting and creative, hallucinatory sequences. 9/10 for me.
**_RUNS IN DRAMATICALLY_** Did I miss anything 😂? This looks SO good! No interest in Stewart, but Katy O'Brian who plays "Jackie" is obsession worthy 😍. Strong cast overall! My real question is how do you only do a "little bit" steroids, LOL?!
I'm glad this channel gives spoilers, because most movies are not Sixth Sense, anyway. And this synopsis was very much appreciated, because the plot was kinda... cheesy.
I wish that you would give a rating for the movies in the beginning of the video so that we could decide whether we want to watch it before the spoilers. It sounds like I'm going to like this one, but I feel like it does diminish some of the magic whenever you already know what's going to happen.
This film just didnt do it for me. I love SOME of the cinematography. They capture the atmosphere and location very well, and the gym scenes were fantastic. But sometimes it just feels like someone shouted that this is an A24 film so be more quirky! I really didnt buy the performance from the actor who played Kristen's father. I've just seen the "dangerous criminal parent" role done much better and in a much more intimidating way. I was not intimidated by this man. I think the score really failed to make him seem as dangerous as the film kept telling us he was. The ending was okay, I think I wouldve liked it more if I had felt more of a sense of danger for the characters but I really didn't. And pretty upset that the truck scene is basically the last scene in the film. I saw it in the trailer and found it intriguing and thought we'd get more of a Thelma & Louise feel to the film but that was the end. I thought they'd be on the run from the dad for a longer part of the movie but thats really the final third only. That said Katy O'Brian lights up the screen and was by far the standout. She has fantastic charisma, and Kristen Stewart does a solid job, but feel like she's played this sort of character before. Unfortunately didnt love this film even though there are things I did love. Honestly, I thought the film was actually a bit tame and didnt go far enough. Or there was just a lack of tension that maybe others felt but not for me. I really think a better score could've added a lot.
I had a lot of fun with this movie. I’m thinking Time will do it’s thing to those who bump up against the ending and we’ll all learn to love it. Such a cool flick
I finally saw LLB. I was pleasantly surprised to be very impressed by Katy O'Brian's performance, she held her own against Stewart and Harris. Until tonight I've only seen her play small bland roles in mediocre Disney+ shows and didn't expect much. I agree Anna Baryshnikov also gave a great performance; btw she's Mikhail Baryshnikov's daughter.
You picked out details like steroids, and maggots collection, which makes it feel both superficial 'power' and real life *decomposers* co exist in this protagonist's world! Worth a watch - and award nomination is a good prediction too!
I mostly loved the movie but the climax was a bit much. I normally like things gettinh a surreal butbi dont thing Glas worked into the film well enough. I just felt like it typed into silly for me. I had a similar issuevwith feeling like St Maude's ending didnt work for me. That being said the majority of the films were impressive enough that i am looking firward to whatever Glass does next.
Very excited about this movie but after seeing the throw up scene I needed to see an explanation cause being swallowed alive scares the shit out of me.
The part I didn’t get is why the dad didn’t do something sooner about his daughter’s abusive husband. He knew about the abuse and the guy worked for him. That part was hard to reconcile
I see what you mean with the Sigourney Weaver comparison! They both look good all greasy and dirty lol amounting other similarities with their demeanor etc.
it’s funny yall say this reminds you of the coen brothers film bc ethan coens movie, drive away dolls was a huge disappointment. this film delivered what his did not.
In the end I don't think I liked any of these characters as people. I felt like they were all psychos. Lou in the end just proved she was really no different than her dad. The only character I felt an ounce of pity for was Daisy but even she was willing to protect criminals for some affection. This isn't to say I didn't like the film. I think it explored the dark side of love very well.
This movie was Sexcellent! Very twisty! Thank you gents for the🌈Amazing review!! I just saw a matinee today and agree w/your ratings. One question: Did Lou Sr. (CryptKeeper) just get arrested? He didn't die, correct? Because LouLou appeared to pull the gun out of his mouth and not fire it... 😮🔫
I finally saw this today at Cinema Village here in NYC, and I loved it. Kristen Stewart was masterful to me. One would never know if all we saw was Twilight. So damn good and the end really had me. I figured there was some David Banner vibes when she first started flexing in the hospital. This was my introduction to O’Brien unless I never noticed her in a movie. I loved her, I loved this movie. Loved!
i was very intrigued by the trailer but highly disappointed by the film itself. for once, it was advertised as a hardcore revenge film, but i didn't really feel it was. i felt the film had no plot even though there was things going on.
Ed Harris kills bugs throughout the movie, only to be shrunken to the size of a bug at the end, being defeated and humiliated like the pathetic little man that his character is.
A brilliant twist of irony!
I love that Jackie is strong but at the same time her character is soft, feminine and vulnerable.
That was beautiful!
💚🚬🚬🚬🚬
Can somebody in Hollywood please have the sense to cast Katy O’Brian as Wonder Woman?
She Hulk
I want her to play Chyna in a biopic.
It's an interesting theory that Jackie was abused and that's why she got muscular to protect herself, it would also help explain why she was so angry about Dave Franco's character and made that personal even though she's new to those relationships.
Ed Harris looks like Riff Raff from Rocky Horror. (That hair!😂)
😂😂😂
People in the theater gasped when they saw his hair 😂
Wow you have to be my age to remember riff raff 😂😂😂😂
i said that an hour ago when i watched this with friends😂
🤣
Having the privilege of having you two gentlemen review this film is so, so cool. Ed Harris hair in this movie is the worth the price of admission alone! Keep being you guys!

This movie is everything I needed after suffering through the Marvels and Madame Webb😂😂😂
I love this film. I love the fact that it takes me places to which I had no idea where it was going. the performances are all top shelf. Kristen Stewart keeps going from strength to strength. The film firmly embraces its queerness, which is a huge plus for me.
Sounds really good ✨
Katie and Kristin are going to be amazing.
I didn't know Dave and Jenna were in this, too.
Thanks for doing this one 🤗
The film was going pretty strong up until the end, the end reallyyy took me out all the build wasn’t worth her just turning into a giant for 45 seconds then that’s really it, it felt pointless I’m ngl. 💯
Definitely agree with you.
Y’all got me pumped to see this movie! Thank you for another great review

When I saw the trailer I was very intrigued! I'm so glad it's good, I can't wait for this.
That skullet on Ed Harris is spectacular!!!!!!
Skullet!! 💀🎉
Same. All I needed to hear was early Coens and shut it down. Thanks Nick & Joseph! must watch
I’m watching this on Thursday! I was not sure what to expect but it sounds like a fun story, finally a women’s film I could get behind!
The bodybuilder girl looks like Jennifer Beal's body double in Flashdance
EXACTLY what I thought the whole time! Hee.

Me too.

So she doesn’t hulk out? I thought this was gonna be some kind of horror movie.
the movie is pretty shit. i dont get the positive reviews.
The trailer definitely gave that this was gonna have more of a "Bones and All" type plot. Nowhere near tonally the same but I definitely thought there would be some bloodlust
It might be a drug trip under the steroids….maybe
I mean the fact that she literally turns into a giant hulking woman at the end of the movie , I guess you can say she hulks out .
@@SS-hd5jxsome people like movies that take risks and do things that are different
Ed Harris’s look reminds me of the Regess (sic) Invid in ROBOTECH . . .
Love Lies Bleeding was the cure to the cinematically transmitted disease that was Drive Away Dolls.
I loved it.

Watched this based on your recommendation. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Came to like, but will come back once I watch since I’ve been anticipating it and don’t want spoilers quite yet😅
Came back, fun movie!!

The red lit flashback scenes were excellent. They were hauntingly beautiful and revealed so much with no dialogue
This film just didnt do it for me. I love SOME of the cinematography. They capture the atmosphere and location very well, and the gym scenes were fantastic. If I had to boil this film down to one word it would be Unhinged 😆 I loved it tho. But yeah, the ending really threw me when it happened.
I just felt like whoever wrote this film had taken some ayahuasca and it hit like 3/4 through.
I think the teeth are brown because of tobacco stain - and yes she was such a scene stealer!
You picked out details like steroids, and maggots collection, which makes it feel both superficial 'power' and real life *decomposers* co exist in this protagonist's world! Worth a watch - and award nomination is a good prediction too!

“Katy O ‘Brian” was fucking Stunning in this movie. Wheeew

This one gave me Butterfly Kiss vibes and I loved it. Let’s make this a genre!
This film really was a wonderful surprise for me. I reluctantly saw it in theaters thinking that this wasn't my kind of movie, but it absolutely was.

Jackie is super human
Really would have like more story for Jackie
it’s funny yall say this reminds you of the coen brothers film bc ethan coens movie, drive away dolls was a huge disappointment. this film delivered what his did not.

Theory: she didn’t become giant for real, she was just under a drug trip from the steroids (mauled him)
Funny!!!😊
That hair is not doing her any favors but this sounds good. Can’t wait to see it.
The movie takes place in the 80s. Hence the mullet.
