You should've talked about how Chaser swords have synergy with weapons other than DSD. They mimic and even set up your attacks on other weapons - most notably, using Real Impact with the Chaser Swords while Balrog is equipped will cause the swords to form a sawblade that drags the target towards you, ENSURING that Real Impact hits.

Oddly enough Devil Sword Dante felt weird at first due to the implementation of SwordMaster moves literally shoved into the standard moveset but after beating the game and beating Bloody Palace I can completely say without a doubt this is the best version of Dante sword. The Sword Formation is really cool and is like mocking Vergil's Summoned Sword like "Hey Vergil I got sword too!". The design of the sword looks great and does represent Dante's will! People in the DMC Subreddits used to say Rebellion is nothing special it's just Dante's sword without any specific function but they were wrong when DMC 5 came out and it shows to have the function to combine both Demonic and Human nature with Dante absorbing Devil Sword Sparda and getting his own sword named after him like his daddy before him... I love how far Devil May Cry has come and I hope it stays with us to the years to come And yeah This Game JACKPOT!
@Christopher Marlowe I was stuck on floor 89 for the longest time. After some more practice with DMD bosses I broke past floor 89 and cleared the rest of the palace in the same run. Persistence, and a little luck. Anybody can do it 👍
A few things: 1. To extend the "Shredder" part of DSD's Prop Shredder combo, HOLD the melee button. With Rebellion, you had to mash it, but DSD is different. 2. You don't need to fully charge Drive to get three Drives, you just need to have purchased the Over Drive ability, and to keep mashing melee after the first. Charging Drive only increases the damage (to a pretty significant degree), and only the damage of the first projectile. 3. Interceptor Swords will target the closest enemy that Dante is _not locked on to._ Locking into an enemy prevents the swords from attacking them so you can combo them without the swords knocking them away. Their purpose isn't just to attack, it's to _Intercept_ anyone who might try to run in and interrupt your combo mad fun.
Great vid as always. Though you didn't exactly mention that when you activate Swords Formation, the swords will remain with Dante even if he switches melee weapons. Thus boosting the sword master style moves of the others. Also, if you're using another weapon and you're in mid attack animation, switching to the DSD and using the style button allows you to be attacking with the weapon you had equiped first while still having the summoned swords slashing away, at least until the first animation finishes. The easiest way to see this is to use Cavilier, since it has long attack animations. This is why I have Cavilier always followed by DSD in my rotation, so I can simply and easily slice and dice while riding around on the bike from hell 😈 cheers.
Great video =) A few observations though: 1 - DSD combo B works exactly like rebellion/sparda. Since DMC4 you always go to 1M stabs at the third button (no need to mash). 2 - Since DMC4, stinger doesn't convert into 1M stabs trough mashing, it convert by holding attack while releasing the directional before hitting the enemy. (This is also true for the 3 different swords in dmc5) Mashing once it started does increase duration though.
I kinda miss the crazy combos from 3. Cerberus, Agni&Rudra, Nevan and Beowulf all had such badass attacks when you mashed at a specific point in the combo
@@DestinySpider yeah, it felt great to pull out those moves, specially because they're kinda high risk high reward, by choosing to extend the combo duration you sacrifice the standard combo finisher so you WANT to commit to it, but You're screwed if you spam those moves while surrounded by enemies. That is unless you have Nevan equiped, then it'll be " *TIME TO ROCK **_crazy solo surrounded by army of bats_** YEAH* "

I much much prefer Million Stab being something I can do anytime I want with a short hold, instead of having to mash my ass off to make sure I get it. Would prefer crazy combos if they instead were just additional pause combos. Like the one for Beo instead of being 1,2, pause, mashhhhh, being 1,2, pause, 3, pause, 4. I guess the mash makes sense for balancing to a certain extent, since the crazy combos are really strong, so just pulling them out on a whim might be OP, but I would definitely prefer it over having to practically break my controller if I want the Agni&Rudra crazy combos
There is more to this than you told us! 1. Sword Formation can be used on other weapons as well! Just activate it manually or go devil trigger while DSD is in your inventory and all weapons (including the Sparda and Rebellion) gain the Sword Formation effect. 2. When Sword formation is active, every Swordmaster style move you do with other weapons have an additional Sword Formation effect. every back + circle move for example gets a Spiral Swords Effect (where the summoned swords circle around Dante, like they do for vergil, tough it is rather short), and while i forgot what neutral and forward circle get, they do get additional effects!
You can also use Four Handed just as a Stinger connects to catch the enemy, so now you can reliably use Stinger as a gap closer. This same concept applies to Nero, using Bringer Knuckle to catch off of a Streak or Calibur, so you don’t send the enemy flying.
If you have a problem with enemies flying away during dsd combos, using SM and taping b at the end of combos will stop them from being launched, this also works with stinger if your fast enough
I was still using Sparda for the extra round trip. DSD reminds me of playing Vergil while being able to spam summoned swords at the same time as melee.
The Stinger->Milion Stab is not done by mashing, but by releasing the Foward in the analog stick and holding the melee button AFTER performing the stinger
another tips : when u added DSD but equip another arms.. let say : balrog.. the four sword formation will still active & 'll do good added combo .. try using impact move in swordmaster style
it's simple really. dmc5 is way easier with jc so you can just do a simple combo : high time with dsd and aeriale rave-> jc-> repeat . or high time ->jc-> cerberus revolver->jc->taunt->trickster teleport->aerial rave ->jc->revolver . seems hard but it's really ez

Yea only reason I still use sparda sword is for this. And I'll do sparda round trip, devil sword dante round trip, and drive. If you time everything well it'll keep most your enemies at bay for you to charge your drive some or at least get in all the swings.
I just want to say how much I love the Devil Sword Dante, and how much it (in my experience) de-complicates the gameplay of what used to be Rebellion, while also building on it immensely. The way that Helm Splitter and Aerial Rave are re-mapped and more resembles Nero's fighting quirks makes me happy, since his moveset is much more intuitive, imo. To clarify, though, I started DMCing with DMC4, then got HD Collection and played the rest. I preferred DMC3 for a while due to the diversity of weapons and being able to switch them out. I was sad that I couldn't do Style Switching (sticking to Trickster as a consequence, with Rebellion and Agni & Rudra), but I still enjoyed it. I like Nero's moveset mapping, as he is more intuitive and less complicated, and it shows that the designers have taken past games' aspects and rebuilt them from the ground up, in some ways, but he does lack some things essential to Dante. Having the DSD gave me a lot more of the best of both worlds for Dante, even though I preferred him before despite Nero's advantages.
I rarely used DSD after completing devil hunter (Didn't like the design, "weird" new ways to combo) but this video really opened my eyes for it's potential. Gonna use it more often. thanks!
'Round Trips' is a key to defeating Vergil. Charge it while dodging Vergil's moves, and unleash it as he finishes the move. That's an extremly easy way to constantly drain his HP. I got S rank on DMD mission 19 so easily after I recognized this.
@@edgyboi1995 vergil is the best training partner to learn royal guard as all his attacks are extremely telegraphed, (i couldn't royal guard for shit before him, and like i said before if u dont want to try just use the faust hat fully charged red hot night destroys every boss in the game.

The sword is awesome and has now become my new Devil Arm. As much as I loved rebellion and miss it. This sword i can honestly say is 10x better. Took me a while to get used to the control layouts for it. But once I did...I couldn’t stop using it.

I liked the old school dante more when he had to use the sword style botton in the air to do the slashes Having him doing them with the normal melee button makes him similar to nero which isnt a bad thing necessarily but i think the old school combo was a little bit more stylish Thanks for the vid btw great guid
Here's a tip DNC to get get some more Nero gameplay u can get 6 shots out a single reload for some reason if u repeat jump cancel shoot while its reloaded every 2 shots count as one if u keep jump canceling the shots on nero
Essentially, summon swords is basically a standard blade move set, stinger, high time, you could essentially press the style action button with the attack button to double the damage which is just sick
Downside worth mentioning the super costumes will still lose dt when Dante performs moves with the summoned swords which when in dt are automatic it can be an issue regarding dt usage if you make heavy use of the stinger in dt
The 'for noobs' combo: 'high time' out of 'million stabs' followed by a 3 hit 'aerial rave' into a 'helm splitter', 'air hike'/enemy step into 'rainstorm' or weapon swap (typically cerberus 'revolver' or the DLC cavaliere 'red line' if they have it). No style switching because they think trickster is for evasion and they want either gunslinger for 'twosome time' or 'rainstorm' spam.
Once you have upgraded your inventory to the max, is there a reason to use rebellion or devil sword Sparda? IMO DSD outshines them but I'm not a pro dmc player. Edit: wish you could use the rebellion and DSS skins for this weapon s moveset
You can though ... I have equiped all 7 weapons ( 2 motorcycle , reb. DSS . DSD. Jackie chan and super kick and fist ) & 6 guns ( hat , shoutgun , pistols , duel rpg , rpg1 , rpg2 ) You buy irregular pack from abilities by 100 red orb
As the name implies it lets you equip any weapon you want and even equip two weapons. I used this to enable Dante to transform Rebellion into DSD and back.
correction: Dante has surpassed the sparda when he wields his own sword because devil sword dante shares his will (in game description) and the sparda blade doesn't, he can't access the parda's true power because he's just not sparda (and he didn't murder him/make him submit). this is proved by dante wielding the sparda blade just like he uses rebellion, he's not actually using the weapon's moveset. for example if you gave nero or vergil the devil sword dante they wouldn't be able to use the summoned swords that come with it, much like nero couldn't do judgment cuts with the yamato (his stand used it just like he uses red queen, just like dante with the sparda) and dante could only pull off discount ripoff moves by mimicking vergil almost frame by frame (and dante mastered demon arms like the lucifer and a fking guitar instantly). basically comparing Sparda wielding the sparda blade to Dante using it is like comparing the devil sword dante to vanilla rebellion, the moves are literally halved love you DevilNeverCry

do you plan to cover V and Nero once you finish dantes moveset? i know youve got a lot of nero down already with the devil breakers, and aside from those hes pretty straightforward, but i feel that everyone is still getting used to V. Havent seen any crazy kinda gameplay from him
i hear ya man, main reason i wanna see more of him is because i like the concept of his playstyle. Put into action though and it feels weird at times, like its hard to get too much done without nightmare. Nightmare never seems to target aerial enemies and just keeps continuing ground combos or he walks back to v rather than the target, griffin is great, nightmare is cinematic af, im just hoping to see some cool and/or better ways to use them in conjunction
I’m a new player, and I found switching to the style button for the aerial rave to be extremely annoying. So to have the aerial rave mapped to the normal attack button for this weapon is a huge quality of life upgrade for me.
Just out of curiosity, is there any real reason to use sword formation instead of just devil triggering? I mean unless you just don't have enough DT to activate devil trigger or just barely have enough DT to use devil trigger and want to save some.
Last longer than DT maybe I haven’t really tested that. But i do know that sword stays in effect even when changing weapons just like with devil trigger. So the only difference is that it might last longer than DT itself? Still wouldn’t it be better to use DT for increased base damage + health regen?
I'd say since the sword formation is set for 2 dt meaning it doesn't consume the whole gauge. If you kill enemies with it the guage replenishes itself and you can keep the dt for when you need that health recovery mid battle instead. At least that's how I see it
@@izakuraiden9029 Maybe. But with how SDT is now a thing and how you get punished for not perfect blocking with your DT gauge instead, it's nice to have different tools. I personally like to save up DT as the activation has invul frames and can get you out of very bad situations such as grabs and stuns. If you're good enough you can just dish out damage with DT and that's perfectly fine, the healing factor is nice but at the most difficult levels I still think what I mentioned before comes into play heavily.
Kristian Ramlogan yeah i can see that. But for me personally i just don’t see the point to it beyond when i’m super low on DT. I tend to only use DT for bosses or tougher enemies like Proto Angelos, queen empusas or the things that go rage mode when you knock them back. There’s probably better tactics and whatnot for guys like them but idk. I’m just a old school fan having fun lol.
It's hard for me to agree that DSD surpasses the demon sword sparda... Because we don't quite use it to its fullest. However I'm intrigued to see how the story unfolds now that vergil and dante are both equal in strength

Hey I know I'm late to the vid, but for the 3 combos, combo B might be the most useful/effective as the devil sword dante has the swordmaster ability it does, you could use 1 million stabs for about a full second then tap the style button once and lead into a hightime I don't know if this is useful but I see it as a strong option
Not if you're playing the game normally. Combo mad players might prefer rebellion for some style points like reverse helm breaker (avoid hitting while getting yourself to the ground faster) and also instant access to prop and shredder. Otherwise, DSD is way better in almost every aspect

Aside from the very small nuances, I think discussing the difference between these swords would be very short. Rebellion has the same movesets as sparda in DMC5, and DSD is a direct upgrade in terms of movesets. Unless you're making a combo that utilizes the no lock on helm breaker, or instant pop shredder, there is almost no reason not to use DSD (unless, of course you're really do not want to move on from pre dmc5 movesets). Very small nuances, not really something that matters unless you're a combo mad player. Maybe check out some of them (donguri, sakaki) to see the full extent of these swords Edit: check out sakaki1224 dmc5 side:D around 30 second mark to see the rebellion no lock on helm breaker
What you said is false, it isnt an amalgamation of sparda and rebellion. It is literally dante hence the name. Dante absolved both weapons into him i.e their powers but dante has way more power than both swords combined

I've seen people do the normal round trip with the sword in streams and can't figure out how they do it. Vash did it and a streamer that interviewed Dan Southworth not that long ago.
So say dante had the Yamamoto on his back. And then stabbed himself with dante. That's still rebellion so it should combine. Alternatively, say dante could somehow stab dante with Yamamoto, would that return the blade to sparda and rebellion? Would the blades cancel out?
Looking at the combo gauge I’m like god keeping a combo grade is so much easier in this game than dmc 1 and dmc 2 everything dies in 4 hits so getting a d is inevitable unless you can reach another enemy with stinger

I'm having a extremely hard time executing the drive skill for ps4 it says while on the ground, pressR2+L toggle back to forward +triangle. I've tried for along time and dante either performs a stinger or a high time please help. I'm not the best gamer but I've been able to do all the other skill moves except the ones where it says L toggle back to forward +triangle.. love the videos btw
You don't need DSD *equipped* for Devil Trigger to make use of the summoned blades, simply having it in the inventory will do.
Right. Also, the summoned swords will help with every other weapons' attack as long as DSD is in your inventory.

When I unlocked Devil sword Dante i heted ir, i was so used to rebelion, now I love it, is just so easy to be creative and letal with it.

Great vid as always. Though you didn't exactly mention that when you activate Swords Formation, the swords will remain with Dante even if he switches melee weapons. Thus boosting the sword master style moves of the others.
Also, if you're using another weapon and you're in mid attack animation, switching to the DSD and using the style button allows you to be attacking with the weapon you had equiped first while still having the summoned swords slashing away, at least until the first animation finishes.
The easiest way to see this is to use Cavilier, since it has long attack animations. This is why I have Cavilier always followed by DSD in my rotation, so I can simply and easily slice and dice while riding around on the bike from hell 😈 cheers.
He said you get all the passive abilities but yeah, he didn't even mention switching melee weapons in devil trigger either

A few observations though:
1 - DSD combo B works exactly like rebellion/sparda. Since DMC4 you always go to 1M stabs at the third button (no need to mash).
2 - Since DMC4, stinger doesn't convert into 1M stabs trough mashing, it convert by holding attack while releasing the directional before hitting the enemy. (This is also true for the 3 different swords in dmc5)
Mashing once it started does increase duration though.
I kinda miss the crazy combos from 3.
Cerberus, Agni&Rudra, Nevan and Beowulf all had such badass attacks when you mashed at a specific point in the combo
@@DestinySpider yeah, it felt great to pull out those moves, specially because they're kinda high risk high reward, by choosing to extend the combo duration you sacrifice the standard combo finisher so you WANT to commit to it, but You're screwed if you spam those moves while surrounded by enemies.
That is unless you have Nevan equiped, then it'll be " *TIME TO ROCK **_crazy solo surrounded by army of bats_** YEAH* "

Would prefer crazy combos if they instead were just additional pause combos.

being 1,2, pause, 3, pause, 4.
I guess the mash makes sense for balancing to a certain extent, since the crazy combos are really strong, so just pulling them out on a whim might be OP, but I would definitely prefer it over having to practically break my controller if I want the Agni&Rudra crazy combos

There is more to this than you told us!
1. Sword Formation can be used on other weapons as well! Just activate it manually or go devil trigger while DSD is in your inventory and all weapons (including the Sparda and Rebellion) gain the Sword Formation effect.
2. When Sword formation is active, every Swordmaster style move you do with other weapons have an additional Sword Formation effect. every back + circle move for example gets a Spiral Swords Effect (where the summoned swords circle around Dante, like they do for vergil, tough it is rather short), and while i forgot what neutral and forward circle get, they do get additional effects!
You can also use Four Handed just as a Stinger connects to catch the enemy, so now you can reliably use Stinger as a gap closer.
This same concept applies to Nero, using Bringer Knuckle to catch off of a Streak or Calibur, so you don’t send the enemy flying.
If you have a problem with enemies flying away during dsd combos, using SM and taping b at the end of combos will stop them from being launched, this also works with stinger if your fast enough

I was still using Sparda for the extra round trip. DSD reminds me of playing Vergil while being able to spam summoned swords at the same time as melee.
The Stinger->Milion Stab is not done by mashing, but by releasing the Foward in the analog stick and holding the melee button AFTER performing the stinger

it's simple really. dmc5 is way easier with jc so you can just do a simple combo : high time with dsd and aeriale rave-> jc-> repeat . or high time ->jc-> cerberus revolver->jc->taunt->trickster teleport->aerial rave ->jc->revolver . seems hard but it's really ez

You can use the unreleased round trips to keep an enemy behind you in the air while you can taunt, perfect way to end combos
The only thing i miss is instant Prop/Shredder, find it more useful and just cooler than Four Handed. Having it as a combo finisher is not the same.
Yea only reason I still use sparda sword is for this. And I'll do sparda round trip, devil sword dante round trip, and drive. If you time everything well it'll keep most your enemies at bay for you to charge your drive some or at least get in all the swings.
And this is also what made me somewhat hate devil sword dante when I first got it. Neutral style button should've been summoned sword prop/ shredder

I just want to say how much I love the Devil Sword Dante, and how much it (in my experience) de-complicates the gameplay of what used to be Rebellion, while also building on it immensely. The way that Helm Splitter and Aerial Rave are re-mapped and more resembles Nero's fighting quirks makes me happy, since his moveset is much more intuitive, imo.
To clarify, though, I started DMCing with DMC4, then got HD Collection and played the rest. I preferred DMC3 for a while due to the diversity of weapons and being able to switch them out. I was sad that I couldn't do Style Switching (sticking to Trickster as a consequence, with Rebellion and Agni & Rudra), but I still enjoyed it.
I like Nero's moveset mapping, as he is more intuitive and less complicated, and it shows that the designers have taken past games' aspects and rebuilt them from the ground up, in some ways, but he does lack some things essential to Dante. Having the DSD gave me a lot more of the best of both worlds for Dante, even though I preferred him before despite Nero's advantages.
I rarely used DSD after completing devil hunter (Didn't like the design, "weird" new ways to combo) but this video really opened my eyes for it's potential. Gonna use it more often. thanks!

'Round Trips' is a key to defeating Vergil. Charge it while dodging Vergil's moves, and unleash it as he finishes the move.
That's an extremly easy way to constantly drain his HP. I got S rank on DMD mission 19 so easily after I recognized this.
or u can royal guard the shit out of him and if u dont like trying DT Faust hat Red Hot Night fully charged guaranteed to kill mostly everything.

Having him doing them with the normal melee button makes him similar to nero which isnt a bad thing necessarily but i think the old school combo was a little bit more stylish

Here's a tip DNC to get get some more Nero gameplay u can get 6 shots out a single reload for some reason if u repeat jump cancel shoot while its reloaded every 2 shots count as one if u keep jump canceling the shots on nero

Essentially, summon swords is basically a standard blade move set, stinger, high time, you could essentially press the style action button with the attack button to double the damage which is just sick
Downside worth mentioning the super costumes will still lose dt when Dante performs moves with the summoned swords which when in dt are automatic it can be an issue regarding dt usage if you make heavy use of the stinger in dt
The 'for noobs' combo: 'high time' out of 'million stabs' followed by a 3 hit 'aerial rave' into a 'helm splitter', 'air hike'/enemy step into 'rainstorm' or weapon swap (typically cerberus 'revolver' or the DLC cavaliere 'red line' if they have it).
No style switching because they think trickster is for evasion and they want either gunslinger for 'twosome time' or 'rainstorm' spam.
Once you have upgraded your inventory to the max, is there a reason to use rebellion or devil sword Sparda? IMO DSD outshines them but I'm not a pro dmc player.
Edit: wish you could use the rebellion and DSS skins for this weapon s moveset

I dunno why but I use DSD to support Rebellion. I switch to DSD for air rave or spend DT to get summoned swords to buff Rebellions attack.

As the name implies it lets you equip any weapon you want and even equip two weapons. I used this to enable Dante to transform Rebellion into DSD and back.
correction: Dante has surpassed the sparda when he wields his own sword because devil sword dante shares his will (in game description) and the sparda blade doesn't, he can't access the parda's true power because he's just not sparda (and he didn't murder him/make him submit). this is proved by dante wielding the sparda blade just like he uses rebellion, he's not actually using the weapon's moveset.
for example if you gave nero or vergil the devil sword dante they wouldn't be able to use the summoned swords that come with it, much like nero couldn't do judgment cuts with the yamato (his stand used it just like he uses red queen, just like dante with the sparda) and dante could only pull off discount ripoff moves by mimicking vergil almost frame by frame (and dante mastered demon arms like the lucifer and a fking guitar instantly).
basically comparing Sparda wielding the sparda blade to Dante using it is like comparing the devil sword dante to vanilla rebellion, the moves are literally halved

i hear ya man, main reason i wanna see more of him is because i like the concept of his playstyle. Put into action though and it feels weird at times, like its hard to get too much done without nightmare. Nightmare never seems to target aerial enemies and just keeps continuing ground combos or he walks back to v rather than the target, griffin is great, nightmare is cinematic af, im just hoping to see some cool and/or better ways to use them in conjunction

I’m a new player, and I found switching to the style button for the aerial rave to be extremely annoying. So to have the aerial rave mapped to the normal attack button for this weapon is a huge quality of life upgrade for me.
Just out of curiosity, is there any real reason to use sword formation instead of just devil triggering? I mean unless you just don't have enough DT to activate devil trigger or just barely have enough DT to use devil trigger and want to save some.
I'm pretty sure it lasts for longer and still allows you to use the swords while swapping devil arms
Last longer than DT maybe I haven’t really tested that. But i do know that sword stays in effect even when changing weapons just like with devil trigger. So the only difference is that it might last longer than DT itself? Still wouldn’t it be better to use DT for increased base damage + health regen?
I'd say since the sword formation is set for 2 dt meaning it doesn't consume the whole gauge. If you kill enemies with it the guage replenishes itself and you can keep the dt for when you need that health recovery mid battle instead. At least that's how I see it
@@izakuraiden9029 Maybe. But with how SDT is now a thing and how you get punished for not perfect blocking with your DT gauge instead, it's nice to have different tools. I personally like to save up DT as the activation has invul frames and can get you out of very bad situations such as grabs and stuns.
If you're good enough you can just dish out damage with DT and that's perfectly fine, the healing factor is nice but at the most difficult levels I still think what I mentioned before comes into play heavily.
Kristian Ramlogan yeah i can see that. But for me personally i just don’t see the point to it beyond when i’m super low on DT. I tend to only use DT for bosses or tougher enemies like Proto Angelos, queen empusas or the things that go rage mode when you knock them back. There’s probably better tactics and whatnot for guys like them but idk. I’m just a old school fan having fun lol.
It's hard for me to agree that DSD surpasses the demon sword sparda... Because we don't quite use it to its fullest.
However I'm intrigued to see how the story unfolds now that vergil and dante are both equal in strength
DSD is more powerful than sparda because it is literally the fusion of both rebellion and sparda
DSD is the most OVERPOWERED WEAPON IN THE ENTIRE FRANCHISE
I also like to add that you can hold melee with Shredder to prolong it.

Hey I know I'm late to the vid, but for the 3 combos, combo B might be the most useful/effective as the devil sword dante has the swordmaster ability it does, you could use 1 million stabs for about a full second then tap the style button once and lead into a hightime

Not if you're playing the game normally. Combo mad players might prefer rebellion for some style points like reverse helm breaker (avoid hitting while getting yourself to the ground faster) and also instant access to prop and shredder. Otherwise, DSD is way better in almost every aspect

Aside from the very small nuances, I think discussing the difference between these swords would be very short. Rebellion has the same movesets as sparda in DMC5, and DSD is a direct upgrade in terms of movesets. Unless you're making a combo that utilizes the no lock on helm breaker, or instant pop shredder, there is almost no reason not to use DSD (unless, of course you're really do not want to move on from pre dmc5 movesets). Very small nuances, not really something that matters unless you're a combo mad player. Maybe check out some of them (donguri, sakaki) to see the full extent of these swords

What you said is false, it isnt an amalgamation of sparda and rebellion. It is literally dante hence the name. Dante absolved both weapons into him i.e their powers but dante has way more power than both swords combined

I've seen people do the normal round trip with the sword in streams and can't figure out how they do it. Vash did it and a streamer that interviewed Dan Southworth not that long ago.
Probably a mod if you're totally correct about what you saw but most likely they were throwing Rebellion or Sparda DSD only has round trips

If it helps, I mapped mine to the right bumper while the aim is on the right trigger. Pretty comfortable
So say dante had the Yamamoto on his back. And then stabbed himself with dante. That's still rebellion so it should combine. Alternatively, say dante could somehow stab dante with Yamamoto, would that return the blade to sparda and rebellion? Would the blades cancel out?
Looking at the combo gauge I’m like god keeping a combo grade is so much easier in this game than dmc 1 and dmc 2 everything dies in 4 hits so getting a d is inevitable unless you can reach another enemy with stinger

I'm having a extremely hard time executing the drive skill for ps4 it says while on the ground, pressR2+L toggle back to forward +triangle. I've tried for along time and dante either performs a stinger or a high time please help. I'm not the best gamer but I've been able to do all the other skill moves except the ones where it says L toggle back to forward +triangle.. love the videos btw
