    For 2022 I vowed better skin care. I’m scheduled for a HydraFacial this week and Microneedling w/PRP next month. I will alternate every month. I also treated myself for Christmas with a LED light therapy mask, which I will do 2x week. Here’s to better skin in 2022! 🍷

      How’s it going? Any updates on your skin after getting these treatments regularly?

    • @lindat1317

      @@tinatschka3217 I am LOVING my results! Not a fan of HydraFacial-it’s just too expensive for a very short “glow” result (basically until I wash my face again). I put that $$ into PRP under eye injections (love!) and had a Microneedling with PRF session (love!). Now I basically use my LED face mask maybe twice a week. I don’t feel the need to do anything else any time soon, probably in Spring I will do a facial Prf refresh. The nice (and downfall) thing is the best results aren’t “immediate” but with each passing week I looked more refreshed and less “tired” especially under my eyes. Absolutely a fan of the injections! 🌹 (I have to add that I turned 60 last week and several people asked to see my Driver’s License-they didn’t believe me! Lol) I’ve always been a sunscreen freak and I don’t smoke or drink alcohol so I do believe a relatively healthy lifestyle helps, too.

    I’ve had several and I love them. The skill of the esthetician is key. I go to a former nurse turned esthetician who is amazing. I get them every three months for maintenance. I also get red light treatment at the same time. I’m 66 and have a few wrinkles, some hyperpigmentation, and larger pores on my nose. I was afraid of peels because my skin can be sensitive, Do it, you’ll love it.

    I'm a guy with mild acne sometimes, and I have a friend who does this out of her esthetician practice. I decided to take her up on the hydrafacial offer, and I loved it! Because of my problem with adult acne, she used a high-frequency device at one point, as well as some products specific for acne during the hydrafacial. I freaking loved it. The only drawback is of course the price (even after the friends & family discount), but I've already been back for a second one :)

Just on an ending note… most clinical / medical spas have packages that can help to lower the cost if you’re interested in going that route. @knownasliyavlogs 3 ปีที่แล้ว +18

    So informative! I love your content Dr. Ellis, because I find myself having very similar skin to yours, and therefore feel like everything you recommend works for me.
    A few months ago I got my first hydra-facial and I went with the medium percentage of acids because I am used to using AHAs and BHAs and because I’m religious with my sun protection. After the treatment my skin felt and looked incredible - super glowy and soft. However, a few days later my entire face started feeling like sand paper and stayed that way for about a week. I couldn’t find a lot of reliable information about it, but my guess was that maybe the esthetician over exfoliated my face. Do you know why the sand paper effect happens and if it’s normal or does it mean that they were too rough with my skin? I made sure not to use any retinol and acids 10 days before and after the treatment, I wore a hat everyday after getting the facial and reapplied my sunscreen every two hours. I’d love to get another one in a few months and want to know what to expect.
    Looking forward to hearing your thoughts! Thank you so much!

    • @DrSamEllis
      @DrSamEllis  3 ปีที่แล้ว +12

      Such a good question! So because you had exposure to some exfoliating acids, the sandpaper feeling you experienced is most likely the effects of the chemical peel! Sometimes with exposure to AHAs and BHAs you won’t have visible “peeling” but you do have increased exfoliation on a more microscopic level which can feel like sandpaper. Hope that helps!

      @DrSamEllis  3 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      You don’t necessarily have to discontinue ahead of time! Just speak with whoever is doing the treatment and let them know your skincare regimen so they can make any adjustments that might be necessary.

    I am so devastated as I was very excited after seeing your video and the comments, I had my first hydro facial today. I explained many times to the therapist that I have sensitive skin. After treatment completion, I have bruises on my face and neck, it seems like I have had a fight and someone has given me scratches. It was also for an event, I am not covering my face and neck. So embarrassing. I have got a cold ice pack as it is stinging. It seemed that I was an experiment, the volume speed must have been too high, and the therapist should have stopped immediately after realising or reduced the speed! So Hydra Facial is not for everyone, especially if you have sensitive skin! Won't do it again!

      That's not the hydrafacial, it's that you had an esthetician who didn't know what they were doing.

    I’m an esthetician and I’ve always wondered if the suction from the Hydrafacial can cause telangiectasia to become worse. I have some many patients with broken capillaries and I’m afraid that a Hydrafacial would make those appear worse. Any thoughts?

    Salicylic acid is aspirin. This is contraindicated during pregnancy and can cause teratogenicity, and pregnancy termination. I would not advise during pregnancy, unless the acids can be skipped

    • @iv_cosplay

      Aspirin is acetylsalicylic acid. In this situation I would not necessarily compare ingesting NSAIDs to applying a BHA topically.
