    Nice bar & sad how y'all made it look so easy. I've never done carpentry, DIY or any type of woodwork projects before in my life. I was always only interested in designing these types of luxuries having an addiction with architecture/engineering drawings. I was just looking to pick up some new trades other than the food recipe videos & sports I always view on here. Thank you for the lesson & I look forward to watching more of your videos in the future.

      Thank you very much for watching! I’m not an expert by any stretch of he imagination and there was a decent amount of time not shown of us just scratching our heads and planning. But I suggest woodworking to anyone interested in it. It’s very relaxing and a lot of fun. The beauty of it is that it can be done on the cheap with only hand tools if that’s what you have space for. Or even with just 1-2 power tools. It’s a great hobby. And one that you can make money at too! Thanks again for watching!

    I know you posted this some time ago, but this is the nicest diy bar I found on TH-cam! Planning on a sort of speakeasy style bar for our basement. Hubby is pretty handy and really tries to please me which is hard because I bombard him with my creativity! 60 yr. old grandmother says, greetings from Illinois!

      Get creative. Build it to fit your space. Build it to use material you can find cheap on market place or Craigslist. Or just buy a finished bar on one of these sites.(a lot of us had to choose to give up drinking or give up family) good luck. You may decide to just give up drinking an save about 10 years.

    • @TheVCRTimeMachine
      @TheVCRTimeMachine 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@c50ge I'm not building it to serve alcohol. I've been a teetotaler my whole life. But I want a place in my rec room to put in an old soda fountain, serve ice cream sundaes, root beer floats, etc. I want to build one, because buying one is not cost effective at all. But of all the woodworking projects I've undertaken in the last year, the DIY basement bar has the fewest videos or blogs that provide actual materials, cut lists, and layout plans.

    • @lutch2419
      @lutch2419  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      The best idea I have without seeing it would be a low shelf with some weight on it. Otherwise maybe adding some feet type things to the front. Depending on how fancy it is would decide how big or fancy they were. 4-5 inches long out the front should do it though. Hopefully that makes sense!

      They were some left over wainscoting I think it’s called that was found in the attic. In the upstairs of the house it it around the lower part of the wall and capped with a chair rail. They are about 32” inches long if I recall correctly and they kinda snap together. Hope that helps. Thanks for watching!

      I agree, however, I built my daughters bunk bed (looks like a little house) with designs I found online and simple tools. I didn't have a miter, planer, etc, etc. Turned out well, most of the cost was in the boards, screws, paint and the kreg jig. I mainly used a circular saw and jig saw. Saved me thousands and I had fun building it
