So my wife asked me to build a outdoor bar and I found your page. Never thought I was capable to build some of this magnitude from scratch before, but low and behold I DID IT. Wish I could post pics along with a huge thank you.

So glad I found your channel. I'm 72 years old and am working on deck and landscaping. I need a bar and had priced them and seen other diy. Your's is by far the perfect one for me to attempt. I can hardly wait to go to lumber yard. Thanks so much.😁

Great instructional video. I'm making a tiki bar for a party and I am going to use your setup as my starting point. The only change I will make is after I copy yours, I am going to add 8' posts that will go thru the countertop and attach to the sides of the bar. I will then add a roof and cover with palm branches. I love your use of the redwood with the black framing. My whole yard is surrounded with redwood fences so this will blend in perfectly. Thank again!

    • @maurahouston
      @maurahouston  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

Sounds awesome! I have wondered if I should have put a roof onto it too. If I had to do over again, I might have extended the 4 4x4's up to carry a small roof. But what I definitely might still add to mine are wheels. I never thought I would have to move it as often as I have, and it weighs a ton.

Simple design, managable project, and a fantastic look. Of all the videos I've seen online, this is the only one (so far, at least) that doesn't want to make me cry from the complexity of the build. And, you've explained the entire process, showed that process on video, AND did it all in under 14 minutes. Many thanks for this. Ok, now time to hit the store for some lumber. Wish me luck.

Thank you Maura Houston, I just made my own mini bar just like yours following your instructions. I did it all with recycled material and I only spend like 20 for the 2x6 wood for the top and a bottle opener I attached to the side.

Downloaded your plans from your website and watched this video maybe 20 times. lol. I’m proud to say I have a beautiful outdoor bar thanks to you! Thank you for sharing and simplifying this project. I’m a big fan of pocket holes now too. Hid them all behind the fence boards so I didn’t need to fill them in as I used cedar. Thank you again!

For someone who just winged it it's one of those best looking homemade bars I've seen. I imagine it must extremely sturdy and weigh a ton. That's my concern is that it may get blown over during a storm but that one looks heavy.

Thank you for a great design, plans and video. Just finished mine and it turned out better than I expected. I got a little extravagant for the front and side panels and used cedar tongue and grove. They look great and we’re very easy to install. I had been looking for an outdoor bar plan for a while but nothing struck me as both attractive and easy to build until I found yours. Thanks again!

Sorry I missed your comment until now! I have been meaning to do an update to the bar, but I haven't had time. But the mini fridge never fit into it. I should have waiting until I got the fridge to take proper measurements. Amazon had the wrong measurements listed. And I wound up with a separate outdoor sink. So, my bar still looks the same as it did in the video. Actually, it could use some refinishing. But SOLID as ever.

This is excellent. I had an idea of using 4 x 4's and 2 x 4s as the foundation but I could not find examples on the net to get visual confirmation. Eventually, I stumbled on this video. I had a smaller version in mind but this is exactly what I was thinking and I have to say that the lower counter with the sink is a great idea in addition to the U-shape. The end result is awesome. I refinished an Amish tea cart recently and I thought I would use the same finish on the bar. I just need to buy a pocket hole drill to get started. Thanks for sharing.

@@maurahouston I built my bar and 1 bar stool so far. I will be staining it and using polyurethane very soon and then I can install the goodies. I made a few minor changes from your video as follows:
      1. Smaller width (5 foot) and some other dimensions were altered slightly
      2. On the bar top, 2 x 12's were used for the U shape
      3. On the countertop, I used a tongue and groove pine (recommended by a Lowe's employee).
      4. Added a sink and an electrical outlet. I placed a garden hose faucet on the bottom right hand side (near where my house hose will be) and I used a replacement power cord to hook up to an outlet so that it has power. A flush mounted conference room power grommet was used on the counter and place in a location where 'customers' can charge their phone (iPhone folks can get a little Apple juice at the bar. lol)
      5. Casters so that the bar can be easily moved around on my patio
      6. Molding. I used molding in a few places to hide some mistakes (oops).
      7. I created some dental molding using pressure treated fence lumber. This was tedious but it turned out really nice looking.
I can't wait to get this stained and finished. I can already tell that it will look insane.
BUT I wanted to thank you again for this video and the blue print. While I changed a number of things, your bar caught my attention over the other outdoor bars that I saw online. Great job.
