One of the things that amazes me the most about Spider-Man, is how after all these decades; his character, and his design has hardly changed, if at all. And I'm not just referring to the comics, but to all depictions across media.
The PS-1 Spidey game started the Costume trend, with costumes having different abilities. I remember playing most of the game with the Amazing Bag-man costume that gave you one web cartridge per level.
There was also a Spider-Man arcade game from SEGA that was released in 1991 that was very fun. Also the Japan exclusive The Amazing Spider-Man: Lethal Foes (1995) for the Super Famicom.
It’s still kinda cool since every Spider-Man game that’s ever existed exists within the multiverse meaning that a pixelated Spider-Man could appear in a Spider-Verse movie or even the MCU! It’s not impossible!

Are we really not gonna mention Spiderman: Web Of Shadows about how cool is switching between the red-blue suit to black-symbiote suit ? About the unique power and abilities each suit offers you to combat ?? Damn IGN....
No mention of how "Spider-Man: Enter Electro" had the first suit with the webbing, no mention of "Web of Shadows" and no mention of the "TASM"-Games..... Great research.
I think spider-man 2 revolutionised the swinging mechanism and I guess should be counted as one of the best Spidey games as well. Alongside that insomniac's version is just mind baffling!
Actually in the PS1 version of SpiderMan 2 : Enter Electro , they DID model the webbings on Spidey's suit. It did look pretty impressive for it's time. Even some shared cut scenes between the first Spiderman and Spiderman 2 : Enter Electro showed that spidey now has the webbing patterns on his suit. Pretty disappointed IGN missed this fact!
Yes and I noticed that he’s one of the very few superheroes that doesn’t have his regular suit changed or switched on a regular basis like Batman or Iron Man. Yes some minor details are noticeably changed because of the way he’s drawn but it’s not like his general appearance is changed on a regular basis. When I see the Classic Suit, to me that’s obviously Spider-Man. Not saying he ever changes his costume ever I’m just saying his general appearance for his classic look generally remains the same.
I really want to see the future of the insomniac era and see where they bring Peter and Miles. Shane we’ll have to wait while for the next outing, and that it’ll cost me $670 but here we are.
Remember having a demo disc that had Spider-Man 2000 on it. Racing to save JJJ and fighting Scorpion was life. Never played the full game. Don’t think I missed out on much though. 🤣🙏🏼
Insomniac has knocked it put the park once again with miles morales. A bit short but still fun. Both the original and miles morales games are amazing single player action games.
Worth mentioning is the fact Activision held the rights to Spiderman for a considerable amount of time until 2015. Imagine how differently things could have been if they still held the rights.
