  • I was finally able to ride the new 2022 Yamaha XSR900 for around 200 kilometres and share my impressions with you in my video. Of course, it's a bit early to make a definitive judgement. Nevertheless, I'm pleased to say that the new XSR900 has taken exactly the step forward in terms of riding dynamics that I had hoped for from it!
    There is also a German Review of the XSR900 here: • Moto Vlog | Die neue 2...

    This is a great first impression, I'm glad that you mentioned that the suspension's had improvemented. I really like this bike! I prefer this over the MT 09 for the longer swing arm but I have to ask, did you experience the handlebar wobble? Especially at high speeds? The longer swing arm had something to do with it right?

    • @swissDragonrider
      @swissDragonrider  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      No issues at all. I had a bike to „break in“ the same week in Switzerland and did some autobahn riding as well and it’s much stabler at high speeds. The swing arm certainly helps but also that the steering head is lower. It’s really less aggressive than the MT-09 but still very agile.

      @@swissDragonrider while on the Autobahn, you didn't happen to test whether the 230kph speed limiter is still in place, did you?

      @@dsofe4879 @DSofE Nah, you can only do this in Germany really... On the track, i did not surpass it either: th-cam.com/video/XBV_qhWbmY0/w-d-xo.html (straight to short)
      But it looks like the limiter is still in place when you look at the following video from the 2021 MT-09 SP: th-cam.com/video/dOTQqljoO94/w-d-xo.html
      If you use the bike on the race track, it should not be to hard to flash it. Otherwise, it is not really relevant I guess ;-)

      @@swissDragonrider oh sorry, I just assumed you meant the german autobahn. I was hoping they might remove the limiter, due to the longer swingarm on the xsr. Guess I'll find out when I get mine later this year.

      @@swissDragonrider Thanks for the great video! Not much in-depth reviews on these around the net. I have a deposit on the Legend blue, due in the dealership by the 24th. We'll see? There are delays and very slow deliveries here in the states. XSR'900s are very popular, and are being sold before they hit the dealer! I called one dealership 1000km from me that had over a dozen deposits!! Thanks again! Would love to see another video after you've put some miles on her?

    Helli does the handle bar and riding position more sporty than 2021mt09 ?

    • @swissDragonrider
      @swissDragonrider  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, I think the riding position is definately sportier. You are more integrated into the bike and lean forward more.

    Coming from and older XSR with ohlins suspension, filter exhaust and ECU tuned, is the difference not as big anymore in terms of comfort and power?

    • @swissDragonrider
      @swissDragonrider  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I cannot really speak about performance since I have never had the chance to ride one with ECU tuning, but the new CP3 has a lot more mid range. The suspension is muuuuuuch more comfortable, like day and night, even when compared with the Öhlins. It’s just a bit softer but I didn’t think this was an issue. The riding position is sportier and thus a bit less comfortable IMO

    i wish they made the kickstander longer. u can see in 0:55 they used a rock lol

    • @swissDragonrider
      @swissDragonrider  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's pretty normal that they do this. If the kickstand too long, the bike can tip over easily. But it looks nicer on images when it's more levelled. That is why they often use a little rocky help.

    Great review. Can you explain further why it is not good as commuter bike? Is the Mt-09 more of commuter bike? I will buy one when the units arive here in the Philippines.

    • @ronedee
      @ronedee 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think he meant "comfort & range". If you commute a bike should be very comfortable, and have a big tank. This is more of a sport & urban bike. Great for short blasts on the backroads and agility around town.

      @@ronedee sums it up well. 2-3 hours in one go should be possible, then you need a break. The seat can be modified if necessary (no accessories yet though), the riding position too in margins. But I think the older XSR900 had just a more neutral riding position

    Interessante Infos. Du sagst "Sattel nicht so komfortabel". Huiiiii - sollte er aber sein. Tempomat verweist auf Tourentauglichkeit. Wenn Yamaha dann beim Sattel diesen Anspruch vergessen haben sollte, wäre das echt ein echtes Killerkriterium für alle die gerne lange strecken fahren. Es sei denn es gibt optional einen Komfortsattel.

    • @swissDragonrider
      @swissDragonrider  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Naja, die Konzeption ist halt eher sportlich (siehe th-cam.com/video/77MIIj4Slgo/w-d-xo.html), von dem her ist das nicht weiter erstaunlich. Es wird sicher Zubehör kommen von einem Dritthersteller, von Yamaha gibt es im Moment keinen Komfortsattel. Tempomat kann nie schaden, auch bei einem sportlichen Motorrad nicht ;-)

    Does this bike have a solid top-end hit, or does it make all of its power down low and in the mid-range?

    • @swissDragonrider
      @swissDragonrider  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It makes the peak power at 10 000 rpm and pulls nicely until then. The tripple is a great engine in this regard. It has a lot of torque down below but also likes to rev. Check out the "Track Video" I've made. There you can see a bit better how the engine performs: th-cam.com/video/XBV_qhWbmY0/w-d-xo.html

      "crashed"? I'm assuming you rode the new bike and are giving us your expert opinion....or crashed it?

    • @ravensixs
      @ravensixs 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think what he’s saying, is that it looks like the yzf750 that someone crashed, and pulled the plastics off to make a naked bike. I agree, looks almost exactly like that. They should have made this a full fairing retro bike, it would have made more sense stylistically

    • @brucerossonthetube
      @brucerossonthetube 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@ronedee Gorabis caught it. It literally looks like a crashed 90s YZF. I thought the previous XSR was a little disjointed stylistically, but it somehow looks better at least in my eye to the new one. The headlights on both are odd, too small and too far forward.

    • @ronedee
      @ronedee 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@brucerossonthetube I agree about the headlight. The seat could be more comfortable. Also could use a blue fiberglas pilon cap... but it's not trying to be remotely like the YZF. Two different animals. Taste is subjective. Obviously the bike performs in the niche it's meant to be in. And you seem to be in a small minority of haters. Pick something more deserving and accurate for ridicule.

    • @brucerossonthetube
      @brucerossonthetube 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@ronedee I'm not sure why you are being sensitive to my comments about this bike. It may not have been their intention to look like a crashed 90s YZF, but as the other gentlemen agreed, it does. I was pointing out how funny it is that this is the result. The streetfighter craze was born from crashed 80s and 90s sportbikes and this very much nails the look, right down to the headlight (which you agree), looks out of place (like if a back yard mechanic was to create it out od a smashed 90s sportbike).
      I actually don't hate the model, and damned near bought the previous one. To my eyes at least there are a few
      significant styling misses on each. Not hating, so please don't let my opinion upset you. Lol
