- The battle between Ukrainian forces and pro-Russia separatists (DNR) for Donetsk Airport has raged for months, bringing significant losses on both sides. In late January, the airport fell to the DNR, ending Ukrainian forces’ hold on the site. The now unrecognizable airport lies in ruins.
VICE News travelled to Donetsk Airport, a once modern facility now reduced to rubble after months of fighting, to discuss with DNR fighters the battle for, and the future of, the strategically important site.

I remember seeing videos of the Airport when it was a clear day and after time the airport was the main battlefield of the War, after many conflicts and battles the structures, buildings around it start to fall into ruin as the terminal has fully crumbled. After all this is over not sure who's gonna rebuild it.

Russia wasn’t even there yet or actively fighting in Ukraine at this time. These are eastern Ukrainian separatists fighting for their own independence and to join back as part of a Russian territory. The reason for the fighting back then was because the Ukrainian military was looting, burning houses, and killing ethnic Russians and Romanians in the Donbas and Luhansk regions of Ukraine. Since 2008, Ukraine was denied access to the EU and NATO due to extreme corruption and crimes against humanity. You can find reports of this from EU and the US Pentagon. You can also find reports of Russia requesting the EU and the US to step in and stop what the Ukrainian military was doing to citizens in eastern Ukraine but nothing came of it. This isn’t just Russia being evil and going for land grabs for no reason. This has been decades in the works and Russia tried that whole time to resolve it diplomatically, without needing to “invade”.

anyone who's fighting in the front lines of this war could be considered a war criminal (on both sides) the most horrible things are happening there every day. 60-70 Ukrainian soldiers held the airport for almost a year. the separatists died in the hundreds and eventually razed everything to the ground and only after they were taken apart were ruined.

it was a fire bomb which spreads a lot and causes a destruction , he probably died by the fire. Not a way to die.
Keep in mind that man Ukrainians were sent to the airport to pick up the wounded or 300s, but only to end up fighting dying, or being captured by the DNR. What Givi says about cannon meat is true. This is what he treated POWs so harshly because they didn't know what they were really doing. Some of those he executed were mercenaries.
