Electric steering rack lubrication

2015 Acura RLX electric steering rack lubrication at 110,000 miles. Electric steering racks need occasional 100k miles lubrication to avoid sticking and binding. I little grease and wet grease so I added more. If you have dry grease, remove the dry with alcohol which will evaporate and not degrade the grease you are adding or use WD40 to clean.
Added how to keep tire rims from sticking as a bonus, because I was there.

thanks for the video! did you feel any change in the smoothness while steering after you applied the grease ?. im gonna put in my corolla . does the red grease functions the same as the original the yellow one in my case

Zero additional smoothness as my steering is perfect, this is a maintenance step to extend the life of the rack. Hondas and many other mfg use the lowest amount of cheap grease. Remember this part doesn’t spin so a quality plastic ziptie with a metal lock/tongue clamp should work great but most of the metal ones pop off and reform easy.

@@ynonser5804 sad to say it but these rarely rip unless road debris hit it. Be sure you are on the steering rack which does NOT rotate and just has lateral movement connected to the wheel flange tie rods. 👍 rock on and get a boot with color and be all fancy. Ha ha ha
