Running a Direct Drive Pressure Washer with a Buffer Tank Part 2

  • Hello everyone,
    So here is how I hooked up my direct drive pressure washer to my buffer tank. I’ve tried it out connected using a gravity feeding method but I don’t believe it is most efficient method for the pressure washer. However, the pump does suck water ok but it feels like there is inconsistent amounts of water coming out. Next I will try connecting a 12v 5.5 gpm everflo pump to force feed my pressure washer. I will keep y’all updated in the next video.
    Please leave a like and subscribe. This will really help the channel out a lot. Thanks and have a great day😁

    Since this video was 2 years ago I'm sure you've already figured out your problems... but from what I could see... your tank wasn't vented and your water line was to low. You don't have to raise the tank as long as the water line is higher than your pump. The tank has to be vented while your using it so the water can flow freely... I've been using a buffer tank for over a year now with no issues and I get just over 4 gpm flow. The only time you need an external pump to feed the pressure washer is if you over 4 gpm. Hope that helps!

      Not all pumps can suck from a buffer tank, most pumps are designed to have a garden hose connected directly to the pressure washer. For a direct drive system you need either a belt or gear reduction drive system.
      I agree with your vent, but if you are depending on water pressure cuz your tank is full, as your tank empties you would eventually lose pressure

    Try a bigger water source line that runs from the tank to the machine, I will do a video today when I'm out in the field to show you how I have it set up. Great video brother. Just tune in tonight when I load the days work.

    Dual feed the pump with 1” and use a bypass back to the buffer tank from the unloader and you will be fine.

    Take a 5 gallon Home Depot bucket if it fills up in 60 seconds you’re putting out at least 5 gallons a minute best way to test it be careful direct drives will burn up if they are not getting enough water flow . It is a very big tank though.

    U need to run the water into the hose let it run for 1 minutes before turning on the pressure washer that would take all the air out of ur lines

    1” hose to 3/4 into your pump, put a splitter and feed to both sides of the pump. You need to have water pumping to the furthest plunger on your pump otherwise it will burn it up

      @@StreamMastersPW I run a direct drive cat pump supplied by buffer tank and have been for a year now. Make sure you bleed all air from the line and have good flow before turning on your pump. Remove the thermal coupling(opposite side from the water inlet of your pump) and feed both sides. Start your pressure washer at low rpm, it seems to prime better that way, then increase rpm.

    Replace that 275g monstrosity with a 50-70 gallon tank and mount it higher than your washer with a 1" feed line, you'll save yourself hauling that thing around and it will gravity feed your washer better.

    Check out Doug Ruckers page. Look at this video.... its long and i recommend you take time to watch all of it. However, he shows how to do a bypass at 10:12 minute mark. Bypass is needed if not you can damage your pump.... when you let off the trigger that water suppose to get redirected back into the tank to avoid premature damage. Youll be able to feed off the buffer tank youll just need that by pass done. Doug has alot of good videos on DIY info. Let me know if this solves your issue.... apparently the tanks water weight is suppose to be enough to deal with 4gpm ... 8gpm you have to get it off the house spigot

    • @johnlaroche6733
      @johnlaroche6733 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      8gpm cannot get enough water off of spigot. They have to have buffer tanks. Plus bypass has nothing to do with getting more water off of buffer tank or anything to with what he's trying to do
