    As a German hairstylist for 11 years, I guess it’s because of the massive amount of acid you put in your hair. It’s straightens the cuticles. That’s means it’s actually like a anti frizz treatment and pleeeease be careful with the vinegar because it’s to much acid for the hair and if you use it to often your hair can over process of it.

    Decided to give this a try. My hair felt so amazing: soft, no tangles (it was pretty tangled before I applied the clay), curls are popping (they never popped like this before ever). I applied it last night and braided my hair. I'll see how it looks when I take out the braids in a week.
    Made a mistake of applying the leftover clay on my face because I saw someone on TH-cam saying it's good. My face was burning and became super red. I looked like I put a red mask on when I washed it off.
    I suspect it was the ACV that I was reacting to. Never making that mistake again.

    I am a licensed cosmetologist and I will still say everyone’s hair and skin reacts different. But in my experience using the ACV with the clay more than once a month for me causes my own hair to dry out and it thrives when I only use it once per month. Awesome result! Bentonite/ montmorillonite clay is amazing for clarifying hair, removing silicones and hydrating hair. One suggestion, use the clay mask after your shampoo and before your deep conditioner. Conditioning and then using the mask is backwards because all the nutrients you're adding will be stripped by the clay. Alternatively you can use the clay as a pre-poo but the curls will lose definition throughout the process..

    @Nya Nzeka BE CAREFUL WITH THIS METHOD! I used it for a year and my hair became severely damaged! I’m already low /medium density and I noticed the density of my hair disappearing. Yes my curls were popping but I had zero volume. My hair also did not grow a lot during that time. It took another year for my hair to go back to growing but my density remained sparse. I also noticed a lot of ladies who were making youtube videos and following the max hydration faithfully, stopped doing it. Even the original creator pinkatube has never done follow up videos and dubaidee4c completely stopped vlogs and making video. She actually used to do tutorials on max hydration

    Just a word of caution. If you have high porosity hair, bentonite clay can be super harsh on the hair because of it's ability to draw out water. It's extremely clarifying. For more of a conditioning clay mask, try rhassoul clay or kaolin clay. First step should be your mask (look at this step as your pre poo) and then after allowing the mask to work it's magic (20-40 mins) wash and deep condition the hair.

The use banana mixed with aloe vera and amla or shikhaikhai (jesus.... whats the spelling) . Ayurivedic oils and herbs work wonders for afro hair. Also embrace hot oil treatments. I love the part when you rinsed out the ACV. I remember the 1st time I used it. The smell (just like you said) is horrible & yes, it stings a bit too! 😂🤣😂 However, the results from using ACV with a deep conditioner that has 1 or 2 teaspoons of marshmallow root powder in it...will give your hair the same results. Same results, but with less steps.

      4c hair is so versatile but it's also fragile. My observation is that most processes which involve repeated use of chemicals or steps to bring about a significant change in its appearance, is likely going to result in damage over time. Dassit🤷🏾‍♀️

    • @marleyhill34
      @marleyhill34 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@TheMiss600 I reckon it's the ingredients. I rotate, my protein, moisture and Olaplex. I rotate and limit my sulfate, clarifying, non-sulfate, Co-wash and chelating. I rotate and limit my PVP/Acyrlates, petroleum, oils and silicones. My clay mask is made my my trichologists so it is properly balanced to be used once a week without overloading and damaging the scalp or the hair. I listen to my hair every week because I wash every week. If my hair needs more moisture, I'm not going to give it clay or protein even if I'm scheduled for that on that wash day. I write in my diary what I did when so I can keep track. I buy my products by reading the ingredients list every time because companies can change the formulations. You really need to know what the ingredients are going to do to your hair and scalp especially the first 10 ingredients. For example if my hair needs a moisture deep conditioner, I actually look for a strong moisturising conditioning agent in the first 5 ingredients instead of lots of exotic oils. My hair responds better to conditioning agents like Behentrimonium methosulfate than it does to oils. Oils however to help in sealing and smoothing my ends and detangling. It just depends on what I need daily or on that weekly wash day. I know this because I kept a hair diary for the first 5 years of being natural to learn how my hair responds to all the new products I was trying.

    1. Mask 2. ACV wash 3. Conditionner 4. Clay 5. Gel

    For the last 5 years I've been cutting my hair on the regular and the MHM became part of my weekly/bi-monthly routine. Hair still well defined to this day. The only issue for me is my hair is so curly now it tends to tangle a lot cause my curls are too tight.

    Been doing this method for about 7-8yrs it's called d Cherry Lola treatment because she came up with it and this is just d last lart of it. An even shorter version than this is to use a hand mixer. Mix the clay with a spatula or spoon so that the clay is wet and does not fly everywhere and what u mix it in is water first once moistened mix in ur conditioner use as much clay or condition in d mix to get the consistency right no measurements needed. U want to replicate conditioner consistency. Once it's wet u use d mixer and it becomes so creamy and isn't messy to use, no lumps and nonsense. That way u do the clay and conditioner treatment in 1 and because ur making a lot u can store it in the tub and it won't go bad because the method is suppose to be done for 7 days but I've mixed batches that last months. Even if d clay gets hard u just use some water to rehydrate and go into d jar with 1 leg attached to the hand mixer. I know they say don't use metal but I have not found or seen where it affects anything. It's as easy as that. Wash ur hair, rinse with the vinegar then use d mix. If u do it d traditional way its too many steps and too time consuming. I usually wash my hair in the night and sleep with the clay mix in my hair. Plastic cap and a baby receiver blanket because it's cotton, absorbs if needs be and won't slip off like a silk scarf or satin bonnet. U ain't gotta have a baby to make use of a receiver for hair purposes. I just buy a pack on Amazon. When i sleep with the mixture on my hair I don't need to do the method for 7 days I can do 3 or 4. To maintain u don't need to do the entire act rinse and all that u just need to deep condition with the mixture midweek which is a Wednesday for me. I just cowash my hair and slap on d mixture, rinse in d morning cause I don't like sitting under a dryer so I let my body heat do the job to deep condition.

      @@NM-en3fl Ur hair looks OK when u do it once but for ur hair to reach maximum hydration its recommended u do the steps for 7 days, because I do an overnight deep condition with my clay n conditioner mix I achieve maximum hydration in less than 7 days. I don't use leaving conditioner it give me dandruff.
