Its not a number on Adam's face. Its "SDC", as in Schnee Dust Company, Weiss's family company. It's more clear in certain shots, and is confirmed on some official concept art

@@keinenbockmehr1749 it's born from a misunderstanding, when people watched Iaijutsu students practicing various types of quick draw techniques. Iaijutsu has many techniques for being ready to fight and/or defend with your sword sheathed.

It’s funny you mention it’s still not quite Monty’s style. It’s actually more Monty than you think.
Monty made some unused Yang vs. Adam test footage before he passed away and that was used as a basis for parts of the Adam vs. Yang part.
Specifically Adam’s opening move against Yang where he leaves behind the afterimages was basically a one for one recreation of one part of that test footage.
Actually it was Shane who made the footage.
Pikachu Spartan No, Shane was the one who (allegedly) leaked the footage, but Monty is the one who made the animations.
Based on that, it means Yang vs Adam fight is still not the post-Monty CRWBY fighting sequence?
What about Blake and Adam fight scene?
This just makes me concern if they really get it how Monty's style works so they can make similar style of fight sequence in the future.
KornKernel The Blake vs. Adam is 100% post Monty CRWBY work.
And it’s only really a few bits and pieces of the test footage that was used from. The test footage itself is only 1 minute long and they only used about 10 seconds worth of it to use for the Yang vs. Adam part.
You can look on TH-cam for a side by side comparison of this episode vs. the test footage and the only parts it really used for was Adam’s opening move, the part where he slashes Yang 3 times, and the part with Adam running around Yang and jumping up to release the energy blast.
The rest of Yang vs. Adam is all CRWBY. But again go and look up the comparison video to see for yourself. It’s only 19 seconds long.
There’s no need to worry. It was really just a cool way to include Monty’s animation work in the show possibly for the last time rather than them using the test footage as a crutch.
Pretty sure it was unused Yang (& probably Blake) vs. Adam *FIGHT* footage that should of happened in Vol 3 but was scrapped and used now.
Yang hitting Adam with her motorcycle never gets old. Also that look after she blocks his attack is just too badass.
She reminds me so much of Raven. The cold eyes really emphasizes how much she resembles her mother

@@ringo1017 I know I’m 2 years late but I remember Raven pointing out her shaking and how scared she was and Yang snapped back saying she was scared but was still standing here. I took that and put it into context here. She was scared but she’s facing it head on. And I think Blake being there helped in some sense.

Eric at start of Volume 4 - I'm not sure i like how she flies now

I think the way they did it in this Chapter worked well. It felt grounded but still gave the sense that she is crazy fast.
Yeah i agree, especially with all the missiles flying. In Volume 4 the gravity felt nonexistent, you can see it when Ruby & Ren attack from above. It was like the were floating instead of jumping up high & falling down with their weapons to strike. In Volume 6 it makes sense for Ruby to use her semblance more & how it’s fast enough to make it seem like she flies or dashes.
Neat little tid bit from Adam's bio in the mobile game: " Adam Taurus used to gaze up at the sky with bright blue eyes whenever he could, between shifts in the dust mines, dreaming of the day he would leave the tunnels behind to find his place in the world. But what he found instead was himself... on the ground, staring up at the three letters that damned him now and forever. Scarred. Despised. Cold. ... Because, in this tale as old as time, there is no happy ending. In this story... He is the monster. Adam Taurus had finally found his place, and he would watch humanity... burn."

Thinking a story is badly written is most certainly an opinion, no matter how beloved something is. The LGBT thing is admittedly not something that really warrants being upset about since we've only got like, 3 confirmed in the series.

I like adam. Not for the things he did, but for his fighting style. This is my favorite fight, next to neo's fight.

I remember reading an interesting comparison of Yang and Adam to the beast from Beauty and the beast, which i think is one of the inspirations for Blake. It talked about their semblences, personalities, and anger issues. The difference being Adam loses himself in his "beast" while Yang takes control of hers.

The fan theory i was talking about was theorizing about Yang's role in Blake's fairy tale allusion/story, alongside Adam's role, or in contrast to it or whatever.

Glad Eric picked up on the camera work. They did some really neat stuff with the camera this volume, and I think its a big reason why the fights feel more dynamic and exciting this time round. That, along with the general improvement in choreography and pace, makes me feel like they've almost got their own fight style nailed down, post-Monty.
Yeah, they finally figured out the fighting sequence which alot of RWBY fans has been asking for since after Volume 3. Now they just have to keep this style and all is good again. I think somebody figured out the spirit Monty's style (RIP). This may take alot of work for the CWBY but it is worth it.
Fights are fast-paced, energetic, well choreograph together with the music and has a sense of weight into it. Watching it makes me even more focus at the edge of my seat.
Umm i hate to say this but the adam fight was designed by monty for season 3. For some reason wasn’t used back then.
@@miccheck2754 That one maybe. But the fights this season are definitely an improvement from the previous two volumes and shows that the crew working on this show have gotten a better handle on combat.

18:02 The “charging a battery” analogy is what I thought of in the Black trailer. You also see his clothes light up in Vol 3 when he blocks shots.
Remember that Pyrrha told Jaune way back in the beginning that their weapons are conduits for their Aura, & Aura is connected with Semblance.
16:54 ACTUALLY, the Yang vs Adam rematch was made up old unused Monty animations that were made for their first encounter back in Volume 3 mixed with some new animations by the current animation crew. You can find some (not all) of the unused footage on TH-cam in comparison between the old and new animation.
wow that's really cool. Man I really miss Monty and also his fighting animation sequences were some of the best in the show.

Plot device both Blake and Yang shouldn't have been able to take on Adam. They didn't really get any better since Vol 3 and we know how that turned out.

The fight scene with adam and yang is actually reused animation from monty. That's why its so lit. This is what the original yang adam fight was supposed to be but after he passed they changed it and chose to use it here

@Whiterose Petal Tale We see evidence of her true power waaaaaay back in volume 2, with the food fight in the dining hall. She moved so fast that she pulled objects behind her as she moved, and when she stopped the shockwave of it CRACKED STONE.
So we DEFINITELY saw just how fast she CAN go if she chooses to.
But then she just...doesn't. For 4 volumes, until this episode where she runs along rockets mid-flight.

Actually, Adam's Semblance is that he _absorbs_ energy _through_ his sword, stores it up inside _himself_ and then sends it back through his sword when he's ready.
his weapon not sword, meaning he can use his semblance with any other weapon. But since he mostly carries a sword and a gun-sheath why would he use his semblance on something else?
@@Sesshomaru474 We don't know for sure whether Adam can use his Semblance with absolutely anything that could be used as a weapon. The idea does stand to reason and I hope that he can do that, and this can be inferred from what we've seen of him so far, but it hasn't been confirmed yet.

Common sense and logic along with what we know about aura is that it's totally possible. So for people to say well he can only use semblance with his sword without any evidence for that but still pass it around as facts.

I don't think anyone has mentioned it yet, but some of the choreography between Adam and Yang is Monty's original animation that he wanted to use in Volume 3 before they decided to make the power gap between them much larger.
Adam should be able to do it with any weapon.
Awesome reaction to this action packed awesome episode! :) The giant mech fight and the Blake and Yang VS Adam fighting were both epic, and next episode is going to be even crazier guys. You will see.

This fight and Qrow VS Tyrian really does sum up that when the writers arent being limited shits and letting the animators do their thing, that just because Monty is gone, doesnt mean somebody cant put in the effort to continue the legacy. Big props to the people that put the love and care into this fight. It's just everything I needed from Yang in the previous two volumes and even did a much better job of showing her emotional and mental trauma than that rushed tugjob in V4. I get so happy seeing it and I get happy seeing the hype pump other people up.
The fact if the ship stopped working completely would have just meant that Weiss can just fly over there with Ruby & Maria then take another aircraft after beating Cordovna took the tension out for me.
Their weapons are always relative to their wielder because they coat aura around the weapons.

I like the gambit analogy (I don’t know if I spelt that right) for Adams semblance it’s pretty much spot on it can be any item I believe. He pretty much covers the item (in this case his sword) with his aura and then it takes the attacks and stores it all up for a more powerful strike. But he can only use one item at a time and it must be released with the same item. I’m not 💯% sure if that’s exactly the case but from the videos I’ve seen from rooster teeth that’s how it works.
I have heard many great things about this show but I have yet to watch it myself.
After watching this reaction though.. *think it might be time.*
Just a heads-up: The first three seasons (volumes) might look a bit rough in comparison due to a different graphics engine.
@@TheZero1312 Those were also the best volumes with Vol 3 being the best. Vol 4+ have better graphics but the story goes down with either Vol 5 or Vol 6 being the worst. In my opinion, most would say Vol 4 is.
Volume 4 - 6 were still enjoyable to me. I see what you and other people mean, but I think it's not THAT bad.
Adams big attack only scratching yangs arm makes literally zero sense

Fun Fact: That fight scene with Yang and Adam was actually done by Monty Oum before he passed away. It was intended to be used back in Volume 3 during the Fall of Beacon when Yang came to save Blake from Adam. Instead we got Yang losing her arm.
No it wasn't. They used some old unused stuff for reference in a couple of shots, but everything still had to be animated from scratch, as the animation software for V3 and V6 are incompatible. There's also a lot more original work than there is Monty stuff.
Well I did say on the last episode that the bot had a stupid design part to it and I love yang's entrance.

A lot of people claim that Yang shouldn't be doing so well against Adam in this fight but when you think about it, we've never had any indication that Adam was really strong.
He's been in three proper fight sequences before this and all of them where against faceless goons that Blake and Yang also took out without difficulty (If you want to compare Raven's bandits to the highwaymen of Adam's short).
Even then, they do a good job of showing Adam being physically stronger than either of them if not a less skilled fighter.
Except we've seen Adam slice thought Atlas tech like butter since the Black Trailer.

It doesn't matter if they were always on the writing team, they were always directed by Monty on how he wanted his story to go. Because RWBY was his, not RT, not Miles or Kerry.

The reason the fight between Blake, Yang and Adam is so good was because it we directed and rendered by Monty Ohm and was supposed to be used during the end of season 3... sadly, that isn't what happened.
There's only a couple of bits of unused Poser animation they used for reference. And there's plenty of original work in the sequence for it stand on its own.
There's a lot of stuff about these later episodes of the volume that could've been much better. Hopefully RoosterTeeth just takes a little extra time to look back at volume seven and think critically about it before they publish it. The beginning and middle of this volume were good, but you begin questioning the stability of the show by the time you reach the end. Some story potential is wasted, and some things even now don't make sense. Like why would Cordovin use such a powerful piece of Atlas tech to fight a small group of people when it's important to Argus security? Then there's after the fight is over which... Cordovin's decision made no sense. At all...
Because she's gone mad with power. Her character is clearly established. She used the mech instead of the fighters that protocol would dictate, because she wanted to showboat and make an example of the people who dared to defy her, and remind the people of Argus that she is in charge.
Stupid: yes.
In character: also yes.
She just has Vegeta's level of pride instead of someone like Tony Stark. Plus, they wanted to have another action scene before the season ended.
Maybe Adam unlocked his semblance while using the sword and so his semblance is linked with it
Or maybe that's the weapon he uses all the time so there's no reason why he would use the semblance on something else when he already has his sword.

Man coming back to this fight is fucking awesome, and I hate it XD Adam gives me such DBZ Abridged Brolly vibes, "He's so cool, but he's SO DUMB". His style, the scar, the choreo, it's so fucking cool but his motivations are so dumb. He's a very real character, cause people like Adam exist everywhere, even in this comment section that I've seen. I just wish I could like him as a villain more cause his fighting is SO FUCKING COOL.

Well, the metal from the robot looks older than the current Atlas tech. It may be weaker, or the metal from their weapons is “newer”. Maybe that’s why it relied on the hard light shields
Itz M3 W1Ch0 Most robots don't get the added durability that having an Aura provides. It's why the AK200's and other bots get torn apart so easily. When fighting huntsmen, who channel Aura through their weapons, regular materials look like tissue paper. This is likely the line of research that led to Penny, looking for ways to make the drones as durable and dangerous as real huntsmen.

Prince of Latveria that's my point. Huntsmen can slice through tough materials, not because their weapons are better, but because they use aura and their targets do not. This mech doesn't use aura, and as far as we know nothing synthetic we have seen other than Penny does. (Those newer model Paladins were suspiciously tough though). I was speculating that Ironwood's lines about Atlas studying what aura was and how to move it, was likely started by Atlas trying to make tougher drones and better weapons, and that is what led to the creation of Penny.
I see why they killed pyrrha off. This part with metal robots would have been over pretty quick.

As such, I no longer cared about the character afterward, and was glad he was killed in Volume 6 (so they didn't spend anymore time on that devastated plot line). Because there was no way they could undo the f*ckuppery that was the Battle of Haven without a complete retcon.

How much you all want to bet if Ruby just had a 1 on 1 conversation with Qrow back at the apartment complex, he could have gone with Blake in order to inspect the Radio Tower? He can transform into a literal Qrow and could have informed her about there being a stranger following behind them or something like that.
I also don't understand why Caroline Cordovin decided to get a mech out to deal with them instead of sending a small squad of soldiers to commandeer their property.
If they are able to shoot the glass and nearly break it, why doesn't someone like Ruby take shots at it from a good distance then Qrow break into the cockpit, knock her out, and then deactivate the robot?

They decided to have her go with Vegeta's level of pride even though Tony Stark's would have made more sense considering she's already a leading this small Atlas base and soldiers.

I'm assuming Cordoven would be distracted with everyone else (Qrow, Ren, Nora, Jaune, Weiss, the two other characters in the airship) while she takes quick shots from any angle she possibly could have during the fight. Ruby could have even tried rushing towards the glass once there was enough damage done to it considering the shield generator only protected certain parts of the mech.

The glass cracked a little on the outside. It's presumably made of many layers of composite glass.
Real bulletproof glass cracks on the top layer too. But it keeps stopping rounds.

It's unfortunate that Rooster Teeth chose this route for Adam. They should have stuck with the White Fang plot instead of the creepy ex-boyfriend route. It was kind of obvious that they wanted to kill him off in this volume after what happened in the last volume. Such a shame, Adam could've been a great villain if they treated him better in volume 3 and onwards. Wasted potential imo. We didn't even get to see him interact with Weiss after we saw the SDC mark. Hopefully that comes up again in volume 7. Some even theorized that they were half-siblings.
Some people just need to get over it and realise that he was never the character they wanted him to be. Judge him for what he actually is, and I think they did a pretty good job. Could have executed a little better in V5, but overall, I'm happy with how they wrapped it up.

@@maverickmak I think if Monty was in control of the story he wouldn't have made Adam this way, or at least wouldn't go about it the same way. I think Adam was supposed to be a different character from the beginning, but after Monty passed away, they kind of took him in a different direction. Since M&K didn't know everything Monty wanted to do for the characters, they probably wanted to get rid of him, but still wanted to try to do it in a good fashion. I like that they tried, but the execution was pretty poor. There was still so much we hadn't learned from Adam that made him how he was. We never got to see him being abused and mistreated. They could've executed his character in V5 a whole lot better, not just a little. They totally fucked up his character in V5, which is why they killed him off in V6 because writing fewer villains for them is better. I'm kind of glad Adam is gone so they don't fuck up his character even more than it already was. It was like they were trying to do what Monty did, but kind of gave up halfway and decided to kill him off as soon as possible.

so when he first said his name to Nora (for example) he could have been saying his last and first.. meaning his real first name is Ren. Whenever he is addressed in his full name it’s done with the names flipped per cultural respect (?)

Prince of Latveria - Ozpin said Lei Ren because that was the formal way to address him... last-first.. he always addresses the kids formally and properly almost all the time (Ms. Rose). As for Nora.. that’s where they met but who knows where she is really from. For all we know she was abandoned in Ren’s town but from somewhere else. She certainly isn’t from a Chinese background or tradition.
It could also all be just as easy as when people hear Nora address him and Ren everyone else does too and his preferred name is what they go with. 🤷🏻♂️

Example, Aizen Sosuke is formally addressed as Sosuke Aizen by his lackeys because it's his culture. Why is Sky from Cardin's team have his last name first in their team name? For everything that we can gather, Nora is from the same place as Ren with all we know from the flashback episode in Volume 4. Nora isn't always around Ren, of course, she'll but in a conversation to say "He prefers to be called Ren."

I agree the missile catch was a weird scene but i have to disagree on the line. Blake said she isn’t protecting Yang & Yang isn’t there to protect her. They are both there to protect each other, one won’t stand in the way to save the other because both will stand in the way of danger in order to save themselves. So that resolved the previous issue they had. It’s confusing here because they didn’t talk about it before. They had that conversation in the barn then the team was just in Argus, they had this plan so if Adam didn’t show up then it would have probably been resolved facing another strong enemy.

Technically it doesn’t affect her fight style. She still fights the same, she just dodges more & goes more defense than offense. She also kicks more like Mercury which is funny because in Ep. 9, you can see Mercury punching more than kicking.
Yang went through PTSD
Don't you remember how Tai told her not to rely on her Semblance? (Even though that's not the reason she lost her arm)
What about the handshaking? That was an important part of PTSD back in Volume 4/5 (Tai never actually helped her like a true parent but she has to take what she can at this point)
Results: Yang's PTSD was a thing but didn't really affect her combat skill in any way, shape, or form. She had only 3 glimpses of Adam through Volume 4-6 and didn't even get slightly scared until Adam mentioned their fight back at Beacon but at least she has a arm that isn't affected by something that's able to cut right through aura.
Remember those times when they couldn't hurt a stone grim with their blades? now suddenly they can cut through metal and rocks like if their weapons were made with adamantium

love RWBY but cant help but dislike this episode and the next. Adams character feels like it has been bastardized by CRWBY. Their writing has never been the best but overall they tell good stories but the way they treated Adams character is just sad to me. Monty intended for him to be a tragic anti-hero who did the wrong things for the right reasons. CRWBY took Montys broken ronin freedom fighter and turned him into a rapey psycho who murders the people he wanted to protect...
not trying to be a hater, i love everything else i just cant help but feel that we were robbed of what was supposed to be an amazing character with a spectacular character arc.

Inside, he was exactly what Blake said he embodied: spite. He may once have believed in the cause as justification to do anything to help Faunus, but overtime his hatred and rage consumed him until it just became an excuse to hurt everyone the way he was hurt, as that was all he ever truly cared about in the end. Him becoming obsessed with Blake was just another aspect of that, so even if he didn't focus upon her, his downfall would've come in a similar manner regardless
@@Omegafire17 or they changed how he was written. these characters arent real... theyre wriiten. and in this case poorly in my opinion. i like the show just not for the the writing sometimes. as i said before not here to throw shade at RWBY just think that they mishandled the character. he could have been great. he was seemingly being groomed to be a great villian or even a potential antihero (less likely but altogether not uninteresting) and instead we got a creep that flip flopped on his only moral and didnt have much character outside of limited 1 dimensional interactions with our girls.

I hate that yang and Blake are together not because there both females but the fact that all volume 5 was them showing Blake and sons relationship. I always hate when people ship people it's stupid but if it helps drive a story its good but it made all the moments of Blake and sons not important. Also Monty is still carrying the animation beyond the grave. And yang and Blake beating Adam made no sense you can't go from he can one shot a main character to he can't take on yang your Blake. It would be different if they trained or something but none of that happened. They destroyed his character as soon as they changed him into a angry boyfriend character.
That and the whole robot fight is stupid Ruby and crew are the bad guys .the old lady has not obligation to listen to a bunch of teenagers. They caused Grimm to attack. any casualties are on Ruby and crew.
