Aaron, Qrow informed Ruby last volume that Summer disappeared after she went on one last mission which he suspected not even Ozpin knew the details of.
Yeah I’m glad you guys looked back at the Hound reveal. He had Silver Eyes, which was easy to notice cuz there was a direct cut between his Silver Eyed face and Ruby’s face of shock and horror with her own Silver Eyes
I mean, it wasn't very easy, they put that thing over the other eye which (ironically) draws the eye of the viewer, plus the face a bit of a greyish tone, idk if it was the lighting in the scene or what. Either way I'm still glad they learned about it
Also I think everyone is doubtful, but showing it differently, so even if any of the Aces saw through Winter's plan they wouldn't say anything. Except Harriet. And Ironwood still kept her around even after she let the kids go, so that speaks volumes for how much he trusts her.
Since you guy's seem to have forgotten ( again ), here's a friendly reminder that all 4 Maidens can use ANY element. The Winter Maiden is NOT locked solely to ice magic. Though it seems like most choose to stick to one element, almost every Maiden we've seen has used several. Amber ( the Fall Maiden that Cinder stole the power from ) used ice wind and lightning. Cinder ( Fall Maiden ) has almost exclusively used fire, but used ice once against Raven. Raven ( Spring Maiden ) focused primarily on ice, but did use lightning and wind while having Vernal pretend to be the Maiden. Freida ( Winter Maiden ) only used ice. Penny ( Winter Maiden ) has so far focused primarily on wind, but has also used ice fire and lightning.
The fact that it's not confirmed or denied is even better, because whatever way this show does "Big Bad Wolf swallows grandma and pretends to be her", I'm sure it'll be horrifying. It was confirmation that SEW can be faunus as well, all the SEW bloodlines we've seen so far are human females. Great seasons, out of these 8 third and eighth are currently my favorite.
Well, didn't Salem say the hound was a new experiment? Ruby and Yang don't know that so they think that's what happened to Summer. I personally think Summer discovered something that pushed her to disappear to not put her family in danger, it would make her reappearance more shocking to Ruby and Yang and create a tension between them and her because they now expect she's either dead or worse. Analyzing the lyrics of Red Like Roses part 2 also implies something different than just her being dead, more like she couldn't come back. I don't think Salem made a hound with her but they showed the possibility to create a looming danger for Ruby or even Maria and any SEW that we thought were pretty much invulnerable to grimm and the ultimate weapon against Salem. There's one possibility that is revealed at the end of this volume, maybe she has been stuck or hid in this realm so that no-one could get to her.
@@Shinransa Salem did not in fact say it was a “new” experiment, she said it was AN experiment. People assumed it was “new” because Cinder didn’t recognise the creature, but since when is Cinder’s ignorance indicative of anything beyond just her being ignorant? Salem doesn’t tell her followers everything, and she lied to them about her new world order, so it is not outside the realm of possibilities that she’s been experimenting with these new Grimm for a while. After all, what’s 13 or 14 years to an immortal whom has lived longer than any existing human civilisation.
@@BlueButterfly015 I just checked and yes but we also know that her discovering a use for SEW is fairly recent as before that she'd just send people to kill them, we know Maria was already fairly old when they went after her which would be around the time when Summer was a huntress and maybe even had Ruby since Ruby knows that "the Grimm Reaper" disappeared. So I'd give it a span of around 10 years where Salem reconsidered killing SEW OR that faunus was captured very recently, that's just things we can't know anyway. Salem ordered Tyrian to bring Ruby to her(alive judging by his disappointment) and Hazel mentions they have "dealt" with SEW before. Now "dealt" could mean anything but the way he mentions it sounds more like they just killed them until recently. Salem also spoke to Ruby about her mom as if she probably killed her but I could see Salem saying that to spread negativity and emotionally toy with people like she did with Ironwood. Right now we have little clue about her fate but they want to make us think things right now, that she's dead or a monster, and I'm thinking that's because they've other plans. It would be a more interesting dynamic if she showed up and Ruby and Yang as well as Crow and Taiyang now had to deal with the fact that she's been somewhere for all this time and she didn't do anything. There is also the possibility of her being trapped wherever the fuck Team RWBY ends up because I don't think that realm is directly or exclusively related to the staff otherwise Team RWBY is fucked. Again, these are things we'll know next volume so that's just speculating.
Almost everyone knows Penny has a soul, but from watching many, many reactions, I have not seen one person, and that includes myself, think about Juane boosting her aura until Ruby said it. I was "Of course he can!". And the only thing that can withstand the Grimm goo of destruction is the light from the God of Light. And Ruby bursts into petals not leaves.
Another thing is that she would also have a semblance, if she has a soul. Plus, since Oscar has two souls inside of him (for now) he presumably has access to two semblances. Or at least could switch between them as he switched between being himself and Oz.
I believe Harriet's character is based off of "The Tortoise and the Hare", which partially explains her tendency to blindly and stubbornly charge in one direction with her feelings/decisions, much like in the fable.
Seasons ago, Rick asked the magic question... "Why does Salem want Ruby alive?" and I thought at the time Boom! He is the only reactor I've ever heard actually question it.
Winter has been very careful to not give away her feelings of betrayal around any of the other Aces and especially around Ironwood. Marrow was the only one to get slightly through to her and even then she shut down his doubts quick.
I appreciate that it's going the route of Qrow wanting Ironwood dead not out of some twisted sense of justice but as a coping mechanism for Clover dying. Qrow might be confronting Ironwood and broke his aura but not following through with it. I imagine Qrow giving a 'goodbye old friend' and wishing it didn't come to this and it wouldn't be surprising that Ironwood's demise reflected Clover's. Or perhaps Robyn could stop Qrow while he was in his grief. Or they were stopped before they even attempt their assassination. Whichever way RWBY went, it's great. However Salem completing her regeneration might throw their assassination plan into chaos before it even begins.
I may be looking too much into it but Oscar's mannerisms are so much like Ozbin's even before Oscar let Ozbin give that speech. The way Oscar walks and stands with the can gives me old man/ Ozbin vibes.
Marrow can do a single direction not one person/thing, he did stop the whole room at Robyn's Rally. It dose seem he can hold fewer people longer but we haven't seen his full extent yet. But imagine if he could just get his aura boosted and point him at the whale to stop all the Grimm and then everyone else open fire XD
Marrow's Semblance actually plays a bit into "The Dog and its Reflection", since he can only aim it at one target/area at a time (which put him at a disadvantage against Weiss and her Arma Gigas summon). The fable also plays into his personal conflict, being indecisive about staying on Ironwood's side or Ruby and co.'s side.
Do you guys have thought about reacting to Red vs Blue? It's the series that started Rooster Teeth and it's still running to this day. It has some genuinely GENIUS writing for plot and character arcs, as well as humor ofc.
I think they've mentioned before that some have them have seen at least part of. And I don't know how well it'd work for a reaction series. The first couple seasons have very short episodes and not much important plot. Blind Wave typically like to have long discussions after episodes and they probably wouldn't get much good discussion material for at least 2 or 3 seasons
you guys forget that touching the slime/ichor/grimm juice literally burns living things. matter of fact, all things. if you think back, salem only survived because of the immortality given to her via light god. i suspect that silver eyes are also a gift from the light god, so that's why i think it occurred to salem to 'experiment' on silver eyed people like /that/.
Don't feel bad about not noticing the faunus grimm had silver eyes because I didn't notice it when I watched it either. I too was more shocked by the person in the grimm than looking at its eyes. I learned it later from other people.
Yang having the Spring powers would be extra poignant cuz the current Spring Maiden is her estranged birth mom, so that would mean her mom died and actually thought about her in her last moments
they keep saying Blake doesn't match any of the seasons but she matches fall perfectly especially when you think about the fact that fall is the protector of the relic of knowledge and Blake is based off of belle the princes who is ridiculed for being a smart useful and resourceful woman fall is all about things coming to an end so they can survive the winter to be reborn in spring and Blake's semblance is literally her leaving behind something to die in her place so she can have the chance to live on. the symbolism is perfect Weiss is winter Ruby is spring Yang is summer and Blake if fall
Hey Eric. Ruby turns into rose petals, not leaves. If your dividing the girls up by seasons Ruby would be spring Yang would be summer Blake would be fall and Wiese would be winter
12:03 Eric's note about the Aces literally some up my thoughts about them perfectly, I can't stand them and there whole "learning that following orders isn't always right" arc is 90% just Heiret being a jack-off who won't listen to anyone else, it would have been much better focusing more on winter going through that since she's a character that's being around for 6 volumes and is actually likeable. The ace ops and ironwood caring more about some keeping some dirt floating than uniting the world so it can stand a chance are the worst things in this volume by several miles.
Ok. I officially hate Ace Opt and Ironwood at this point. If I were an RWBY character I totally would be going for them right now. I would have a hit list and then be at the top of it
I'm convinced nobody is actually loyal to Ironwood anymore, they're either A: too scared to disobey him (pretty much the entire rank and file army), or B: following him because they don't what else to do (Harriet).
How does Ironwood not see the impending betrayal... and Harriet is being just as idiotic. Stupid villains are the worst. On the upside, a major Renora scene, and an equally important sibling conversation that finally involves Summer. As for Emerald, I don't like how quickly everone goes from, "You're going to pay for all you've done," "She's part of the reason I lost my arm," and, "Why don't you just leave?" to giggling at her for changing sides. As for Penny's dad, we never see him or Maria again. Amity presumably drifted off somewhere and eventually hit the ground, but no one wonders what happened to them, not even Penny. I'd say the writers simply forgot about them once they'd done their parts to advance the plot, but Pietro is mentioned in passing, later. No reaction from anyone. To quote an old airbender meme: "Did Maria and Pietro just... die?" "Y'know, it's really unclear."
You guys realize that Winter and the Ace Ops were all on board with all the people in Mantle to be eaten by Grimm or freazing to death. Blowing them up would be the better option of the 3.
I do need to double check ourcing but I'm pretty sure that both Miles and Kerry (lead writer for the show) have stated that the RWBY girls are not gonna get the madien powers at any point.
