To be fair Qrow is mad that Raven devised a plan to ambush him with a group of people; when his plan was to get a group of people to ambush her. They really are twins.
Jonathan Robinson no, qrow is mad raven sided with salem, despite knowing that salem's retirement policy is a box in the ground. he fully expected raven to fight back when he went to retrieve spring, he didn't expect raven to side with female sauron.
Yal Rathol True, but there is room for Raven to hate what qrow is doing. It’s sort of obvious that in some point in time Ozpin was one of many reasons team STRQ is over and possibly how Summer died. Yet Qrow not only sides with him but let is nieces be apart of it. Even if Raven might not care for Yang I can see her think “who thought this was a good idea?”
Jonathan Robinson Qrow wasn't planning on killing Raven and her entire tribe. Raven knew that Salem's people would have killed Qrow and all his students
Jonathan Robinson 3/4th of team STRQ trusted ozpin. qrow, taiyang and summer all trusted him, and we have no proof that any of them ever had their faith in ozpin fail. team STRQ is over because raven abandoned it, qrow, summer and taiyang were always close, up to the point that when qrow is delirous from poison, his only thought is trying to comfort tai. and qrow didn't let rwby do anything. yang and ruby are just like their mothers, which means they're going to do what they want regardless of what anyone thinks, the best qrow can do is back them up as need be. raven hating what qrow is doing makes her a hypocrite, because she believes in social darwinism, the strong live and the weak die, meaning her grovelling for help from salem because she's too weak to handle qrow on her own contradicts her own beliefs, which is also the quality she hates in qrow, that he'd rather be subservient and part of a larger, potentially impossible, cause. raven and qrow really are twins, because they think exactly the same, the problem is that raven's fear means she's a lot more willing to side with the devil than qrow is.
Yal Rathol we don’t know if Summer was on board with Ozpin’s ideals or what Tai thinks. Raven isn’t trying to help Salem in the slightest since her plan is to screw her over and take the relic. Her Darwinism isn’t hypocritical; being “strong” doesn’t mean always mean being the most powerful in Raven’s case but making every decision further your plan and life. Even if both ruby and yang would ignore Qrow’s attempts to prevent their journey he is still a grown man who can either stop them by force if need cause they are literally challenging this world’s Satan; or bring them up to speed appropriately so they understand the gravity of everything. Him and Oz didn’t even tell them the meet up could be a trap. Also who knows what that poison was doing. He could’ve been reliving a flashback when he is telling Tai either Raven is not coming back or Summer is not coming back cause she’s dead. I’m just saying Qrow and Ozpin aren’t really good guardians and it would be very easy for anyone, including antagonist like Raven to say “you guys aren’t that good at being good.”
*Insert Hole-y Weiss puns here* Weiss I think is a bit rusty compared to the rest of the team. Ruby's been out in the wild with JNR and Yang had trained with Tai at least. Weiss was stuck in the Schnee mansion and only been relying on summons.
It took me awhile to realize why Weiss may be trying to to summon more than she usually would have. At first I thought it was just her overestimating her newfound abilities, but then I remembered her weapon is heavily dependent on dust. Dust which her family business supplied. the same family who has effectively disowned her and she is on the run from. I'm betting any extra supplies she brought with her from Atlas, were lost when her ship crashed. She may not have a choice but to use her summons.
It is a good theory but if they were low on dust that would effect all of them to some extent not just Weiss and something that important should have been mentioned.
Red Lantern Reviews I agree Weiss is just weak in combat period. She relies on either dust or her semblance/glyphs. She always takes more beating in combat than other characters. Look at any of her big battles including her trailer. I feel like without dust and glyphs her combat = Jaune. Don't get me wrong Weiss is an awesome character.
Just goes to show what being a prisoner in your own home for a volume and then caged for part of this volume does to your fighting skills. Situational awareness wasn't great as she bounced off the glyph on her own straight into a pillar. All she's focused on for a massive amount of time is the summoning aspect, she wasn't ready for a fight against Vernal at this point.
It kinda sucked seeing Weiss in this fight because it showed just how much her combat-smarts have stagnated and maybe even degraded. She looked great in the aerial fight, but that was a shooting gallery. I think she potentially could be the best fighter out of the whole team, but she's had the least ability to actually refine her skills.
That's actually a very good point. She would be VERY rusty in this fight. It would also explain why she would feel the need for her summon. Since she would feel like she was outclassed, when in actuality, she was probably just panicking a little from being out of it.
Nobody's pointed it out yet but I'd like to note that Cinder may be adding extra dickery by using a javelin to pierce Weiss while Jaune watched. Which was Pyrrha's weapon.
Cinder's semblance is making weapons. From the first time we saw Cinder, she had already taken half of Ambers power beforehand. So all the fire stuff is because of her maiden power.
The blow Weiss took was around the liver. The liver fights poisons. Weiss is based on Snow White. Snow White ate a poisoned apple. Also with the way they did I agree with them and think Rooster Teeth was going for more of a shock factor for this episode rather than emotional factor.
So glad you now know the misery of that cliffhanger. We had to worry about that for more than 2 weeks, since they didn’t release another episode the next week.
it takes a lot of effort to produce monty-style fighting, but he did it effortlessly (partially because he was a workaholic, so constant effort was his normal), so don't think that that style of fighting is just gone, it's just going to be more rare until someone figures out how to do it.
Really proud of Jaune with the soldier mentality this episode. "We're soldiers. We have a duty to follow orders and if we must, lay down our lives for victory." He knew he didn't have a big chance against Cinder, but still took it. Regardless of the outcome, well done Jaune /(- _ -)
Well done? LOL! Yeah, i can see what you're talking about, but holy shit the guy is dumb af. After this episode every time i hear he speaks ''You don't need a weapon, you're the STRATEGIST'' i laugh my ass off
And despite his bravery in fighting Cinder hes still acting like an idiot. Hes letting himself be affected by what cinder is saying instead of focusing in the fight. Hes just crying and whining a lot. I thought season 4 was supposed to be the season where they get over their sorrows and problems and keep moving forward. Jaune kinda let himself down in this fight though.
Vinceeey209 Jeeze, one of the guy's best friends and part of his team was murdered. He didn't just lose a tournament or something. You guys just have an unrealistic expectation of emotional growth after grief.
Weiss's aura was broken by Vernal during the fight. So every hit she got afterwards actually caused damage and hurt. She was taking a lot of physical damage during the fight, and then Cinder hit her when she was basically at her limit and had nothing left to protect herself (anything else I say about Weiss might be spoilers so I won't go there). Right now we have Ruby and Weiss down (unconscious), and Ren and Nora are being overwhelmed by Hazel, and Yang is being beaten back by Mercury. The only fully trained huntsman, Qrowe, is fighting Raven where it has been mentioned that they would fight each other to a stand still. Team RWY-NJR are not prepared to fight at this level, and then we have Oscar who has even less training then the Beacon students. Qrowe is the only adult there who is actively against Salem! Cinder/Raven actually made a very effective ambush, even if they weren't expecting Yang and Weiss to join (but with Raven there they probs did). The only mystery there is Oscar - he's the good guys surprise card, although we don't know just how skilled he is at this point. Oscar is still a child, even if Ozpin can offer advice, it doesn't mean he is physically capable of doing it. Overall, good reaction and discussion. Only 3 more episodes left of Volume 5. Hyped for what's coming next!
Cinder: Dust infused Clothing, Her semblance is glass manipulation, when she got a portion of the Fall maiden's power she started to use fire and now she's going full fire powers using the maidens power the sword and spear are physically glass. Lionhearts weapon is like Wises's and uses different element's but is also able to combine them Also they still have archives of unused combat from Monty they still use every now and then.
You’re asking questions about the Maiden powers are leading to good results. Cinder had Dust in her clothes at one point that she turned into weapons, but we’re not fully sure what her Semblance is. Most of her fights have been after she got the Maiden powers, so she has those fire powers most of the time.
how ozpin explains the merging is that eventually, the spirit voice fuses into the new host and grants them all the memory and power of the wizard's spirit. so oscar won't lose himself, ozpin will eventually fade away into oscar, just becoming a memory in oscar's head. and no, oscar didn't have a choice, however the merging only happens to people who would do what ozpin does if only they had the power, so while it's unchosen, the hosts seem to generally be fine with it once the shock of "i'm hearing voices and they know my name" wears off.
Yal Rathol that's what Oz says anyway. As far as we know he might just be saying that to ease Oscar and the others. He may very well just completely take over after a while. There's a theory that the author of the book "The Man with Two Souls" from Volume 1 was a former host of Ozpin
Red Lantern Reviews he may have said that to ease their minds, but none of the other things he's said about his magic have been outright lies, he even admitted to being the wizard who made the maidens, so while it's always possible he's lying, until there's an actual reason to think he is beyond baseline suspicion, i say we trust what he says.
You know I was always surprised that people expect Jeane(spelling?) TO unlock his semblance and be a match for Cinder. Let's be real. If Pyrrhas overpowered semblance, or Emeralds weren't enough to single handily defeat a newish maiden, what made people think it he would pull one that could over power a trained one? No semblance will make suddenly make someone be a match for a full powered maiden immediately after unlocking it and using it for the first time. Still great reaction!
it might been hard cause at the time, ruby did not know about madiens and as a result, it hard to show off what power where there when Ruby fought her, compare to say with Cinder first fought Amber too.
Cinder's semblance is heat, she can create intense heat, that's how, before she had the full maiden's powers, she would throw powdered dust in the air, and heat it into crystal dust, like sand to glass. Now as a maiden, she has powers over elements, and because of her semblance she preferes to use fire. (nothing here is a spoiler, just information that can be acquired through watching the show, and was confirmed by Rooster Teeth, if I'm not mistaken)
Yeah it might be heat which she uses to create crystal/glass weapons by heating Dust, rumble and normal dust around her and ignite them to explode like when she fought Amber
Cinder walks right by ruby, who blinded one of her eyes, took away her voice, and paralyzed one of her arms and who's currently pinned down by Emerald to stab Weiss to hurt Jaune who she asked, "Who are you again?" *sigh*
Because she is a sadist. Yes Emerald could have taken out Jaune pretty fast. But if Emerald kept Ruby locked down then Cinder could take him on and enjoy both making him suffer (as he made obvious she could do) and revel in her power against a weaker foe (which she clearly enjoys). Was it the optimal move? No. Was it smart in retrospect? Clearly not. But it was very much in Cinder's character.
This episode made me really doubt the competence of Oz and Qrow, they talked with one another for the entire Volume leading up to this point and still didnt have any plans to counter a seemingly imminent betrayal by Leo. They didnt even inform the students that it might be a possibility. I guess Qrow really is the Scarecrow in Wizard of Oz, because he seemed to lack a brain in volume 5. There has been so much character UNdevelopment and Nerfing going on since the end of Vol3, I wouldnt be surprised if by the time we get to Salem she'll be taken out in one hit, and much like the fights in this episode and onward, it'll be OFF SCREEN.
Jacob A they didn't know leo was a traitor. why prepare for a possiblity you don't know is there? ozpin and qrow only got suspicious the night before, when leo contradicted himself about the council. and you realize there's going to be at least 10 seasons, right? you think the crew won't improve by the time we reach season 10?
Yal Rathol No. From the beginning of the volume, If they didn't suspect Leo to be a traitor there wouldn't have been a need for them to keep OZcar a secret. I just find it incredibly shortsighted of these "experienced" people in power to not have a plan. Leo was stated to have not followed Ozpins orders, Qrow said audibly that the Haven situation was "wrong". All of that was way before that last contradiction, which should have been the last strike for trusting anything Leo says or said prior. They couldn't have predicted Raven, I'll give em that, though. Qrow knew Cinder claimed to be from Haven, and figured it'd be the next target. They had all the pieces, and failed to have the insight of fitting them together, or even attempt outside of "Hmm, maybe. NAH!" every time Leo was suspected. It was Oz and Qrow's fault the students got caught in Cinders trap, and i hope the two address it to the students in Vol6. It would be interesting if Ruby of all people would stop being so blindingly trustworthy of these people.
Jacob A they didn't keep oscar a secret because of leo, they kept oscar a secret because salem has eyes and ears everywhere, just like ozpin does. besides, they were focusing on training to get oscar up to snuff, because if he can't even beat ruby alone, he's clearly going to be a detriment in actual combat. we don't know if ozpin has contingency plans for catching traitors, we barely know what ozpin's plans are for dealing with salem, and most of that is from context clues. qrow defers to oz, so he's not going to make a plan for him, he's going to trust oz's plans. we don't know what leo's history with ozpin is. it's possible he was a highly valuable and trusted lieutenant and that him contradicting himself isn't uncommon, even when he was loyal. you lack information and are filling gaps with assumptions. and i'm not saying this isn't ozpin's fault. apparently the entire plot is ozpin's fault because he keeps losing to salem, so this is just one more branch on the bonfire. amd yeah, i also hope that team rwby manage to force some actual truth out of ozpin for once, since he knows everything and compulsively hides information.
Yal Rathol First, dont get me started on the single and only "training" scene lol. Second, Ozpin practically stated he didnt want Leo to know he reincarnated directly. Third, I'm not the one making assumptions, I'm taking what characters explicitly say out loud, and wondering why there isn't any active follow-through. In fact, your entire third paragraph is an assumption and a contradiction, you kidding me?
Jacob A 1, the training scene's quality is not the conversation. 2, cite your quotes if you want me to believe them. 3, have you ever heard of a "hypothetical"? do you understand that i can present an assumption to show that you are making an assumption? do you understand how conversation works?
The first time we see Cinder in the show takes place after she had attacked the Fall Maiden and had stolen a portion of her magic. To my knowledge, Cinder was a good fighter and archer. I don't think we have ever seen her semblance. What we thought was her semblance was actually stolen Maiden magic.
My mind is officially blown. XD In my own defense, I did know about the Cinder = Cinderella connection, I just didn't extrapolate the glass motif. Very cool.
I really think you guy's should read the Letter by Shane Newville aka Monty's right hand and former RT animator, there was a lot more that supposedly happened after Monty's death.
Cinder has half the maiden power when we first saw her, so it may not be her semblance, its never been outright said. Also her dress which lights up in fire patterns is sewed with dust, which is why it lights up. Goodwitch tells us that after the break in at the dance.
2:00-2:30~ the mirrored semi-facepalms though 16:42 the mood of the fandom for a whole week Also, does it bother anyone else that Ren and Nora have no reaction at all to seeing Cinder? Pyrrha may have been more to Jaune, but she was their teammate, too.
When I first saw this episode, I thought Jaune's semblance was unlocked when Cinder said, "Who are you again?" because he was angry, which would make since for it to unlock there, and the background sound effects made it seem like Jaune was doing something. I thought he wiped Cinder's memory of him or something. Like, he made her forget everything. I was just a brief thought however, because it was quickly dispelled.
yeah Eric is right the fights were better in early volumes. I dont want to spoil but the fighting they do in this room you see here is just boring slow and with pauses and sometimes characters are just missing or people sheth weapons or so and next scene they fight again. really bugs me.
Totally. What I hated about this volume is summed up in one word: SLOW. Fighting, events and even speech. There were some highlights like yang v bandits, Blake and sunn v illia and Fair Maiden fight but everything else was slow their weapons moved so slow and sometimes it felt like it took them forever to get a sentence out. And even story wise the majority of the volume is sitting and talking. I felt like there were a lot of things that could have been shown rather than said. I think they need to take a step away from the work and an extra year off and not touch rwby so that can get back in fresh.
what upsets me is that they clearly have the ability to put good fights but half ass it for some reason. Just look at Qrow vs Tyrian. That fight is the best post-Monty fight and it compares and even beats some one the fights Monty did
To be fair, we do not know how the arc was planed before and after Monty. All we know is Monty did lay out a lot of the work, up to 9 volumes? i forget, so it is possible that this one was supposed to be different too. We got a lot of story, and some great action, and it hard to say how that would have differ from how it might went if Monty was alive and working on it.
I think Cinder's semblance lets her create and control volcanic glass, hence why all her weapons are made of glass. All the fire stuff is her maiden powers.
Salem, like Ozpin, is immortal. If you stand against Salem, you fight against her your entire life, until she kills you. This is why Raven bailed. Salem can't be killed, and Raven doesn't want to spend her life fighting an opponent that can't die, until she herself is killed. Of course the option is to hide, and let others do the fighting and dying in your stead. That is why Qrow and Ozpin are so disappointed in Raven, that she accepted power and ability from Ozpin, and then bailed on him, and Ty, and Yang, when she understood the nature of their enemy, to hide in the woods with a bandit tribe.
I personally think that Kerry and Miles are going to be saving alot in store for Ruby like later in the series it will start focusing on Ruby's story and then from there we will get to know more about sliver eyes.
Next episodes fight scene between cinder and raven is one of the best in the series and you can’t change my mind on that. Yeah the fight scenes have taken a drop in quality but I’d rather the better general animation, story and characters.
I do think this episode's fighting wasn't all that exciting. It felt like it was all just buildup for that very last part, and was weird how nobody was switching who they were fighting despite that one part with the bullet in slo-mo across the room. Leo's weapon seems cool since it's meant to focus on defense and ranged magic, but his demonstration made it look so slow and unwieldy. I do like that Ruby's silver eye power didn't just solve everything here, and hope this isn't the ONLY time. Finally, this encounter between Cinder and Jaune is great. I just wish there was more of an actual fight to see. Oh well. I'll catch y'all for the next episode of RBY!
Everyone seems to be forgetting that like a year before this, these kids were in school. Ruby didn't even get to do the same amount of training as everyone else. Obviously their fighting skills and techniques will improve over time. Mercury and Emerald have extraordinary semblances and have been using them actively in training with Cinder and even in their own particular life situations. The same with Hazel with Salem and Vernal with Raven. Of course the fight is going to be imbalanced for any of them, not just Jaune. But what are they gonna do, not fight?
Okay, regarding Lionheart's weapon; remember that his full name is LEONARDO Lionheart. That's NOT a reference to the fucking stupid turtle; it's a homage to Leonardo DaVinci, who was a scientist and artist. One of the artistic styles he practiced was painting. Art painters use palletes, on which they usually mix different paints. Lionheart's weapon is sort of a small hand shield (called a targe) which can also mix different Dust types (like artists mix paints on a pallette), in order to create various effects. For example, at the start of his fight with Oscar, Lionheart mixed Fire Dust with some kind of Earth Dust to create some sort of small meteorite or fireball, which he then launched at Oscar. Presumably, he may be able to also create defensive things like a wall, by mixing Earth Dust and Ice Dust, or he may create steam or fog, by mixing Water Dust and Fire Dust, and so on.
I hope you guys see this, but think like this, her name is Cinder which is a pyroclastic material, igneous rock, she can materialize weapons from dust and ashes, so i think that her semblance some kind of pyroclast control or something like that, i think she only can use fire because she's the fall maiden, the only time she wasn't was when she fought the previous fall maiden where she only ignited the pyroclastic arrows to make them explode, maybe something close to fire but not exactly fire like right now, thats my opinion, and why does she want that much power, we dont anything from her past, maybe shes trying to fight back against salem or she lost something or someone in the past, this questions keep poping in my head when i see her
Most people can't survive a gaping hole in their stomach the size of a coke can all the way through. Aside from hitting the liver or kidneys, I'm pretty sure her intestines were severed, not to mention bleeding out if the weapon didn't cauterize and just potentially dying of shock.
Has no one mentioned the irony of pyrhha's dilemma of self identify and Ospin's EXISTENCE of merging with people. I always have this thought, but I never hear it brought up.
So coming back to this episode 2 years later, I can certainly understand the common complaint here; Weiss's character writing took a huge nose dive. This entire volume is Weiss trying to summon summon summon. She could have won her fight against that girl had she fought the same way she did in that train episode from vol 3(?). Time/speed glyphs to move super fast and dash all around and get in those quick hits. But no, every fight she tries to rely on her summon. They just made her so dependent on that one thing. Functionally, her semblance and abilities should place her as the strongest in the team, yet the sloppy writing has her as the "weakest".
Makes sense if you think about it. She spent so long thinking she'll never be able to use summoning. Then she did, and now she is training it by using it so often.
Weiss is my favorite character, I literally created a list of tactics Weiss could do to easily counter Vernal. She is currently the most versatile and most powerful on Team RWBY. Don't @ me. Blake being second.
Community Gamer I’m still pretty sure the strongest character on team RWBY is Yang. Sure Weiss’ glyphs are extremely powerful, but their time to charge makes them inconsistent. If she trained more and made it be summoned faster than she’d be the strongest but as of right now Yang is first and I’d honestly put Blake last in terms of feats.
Community Gamer how does Blake have the best feats? Yang dominated the tournament and her only losses are to Neo, who is an S tier character and Adam who is SS. Yang is A, Blake is B and so is the rest of team RWBY. Or if anything they are all equal, however it is arguable Blake is perhaps the weakest.
I think that was made intencionally i mean she wanted so much to learn how to summon and now that she can Weiss will do it as much as she can i like to think it's some sort of "problem" that will be overcomed with training as character development
It's a character perspective, Weiss started to rely on it too much because of how strong it is. It's not "lazy writing" It's writing and displaying a developed flaw that she needs to get over.
you could look at it as shes in a 1v1 with a maiden, and was on the back foot even before she attempted summoning, does she really have any choice but to try and play her best card and get a summon out
I understand what you guys are saying but why have her attempt it 3 times after every bit of distance she made. I know her getting speared is a plot point for Jaune to unlock his semblance but instead of her fighting for the sole purpose of bringing out her knight when they could have had her just fight her heart out until her aura was broken. Maybe this will be a learning situation for Weiss, but the fights that happen in this room were kinda off to me. People standing still while in frame, Ruby spinning crescent rose to deflect Emerald's bullets looked funny, the pillar Weiss bumps her back into is gone in the next scene, and the worst one is when Emerald dives like a foot in front of herself to stop Yang and misses when she could of used her semblance to stop her. I love the dialogue this volume but some stuff seems off to me. I love RWBY and I only want to see it improve. This is all just an opinion. No disrespect to any of CRWBY.
Honestly, they need to get some better fighting. I mean yeah they don't have Monty(RIP) but I hope they find someone who knows what they are doing. This fight the suspense was high, usually even if the character does not stand a chance they have some choreography. Here everytime Jaune went out for it they only showed them clashing and then shifted the camera elsewhere. And it was so slow it was kinda not in synch with the suspense built up.
to be honest, Weiss is kind of the weakest (currently). but not by much. blake, ruby and yang have had their own weaknesses, but they've learned to make up for them. Blake is done running, Ruby is getting better at hand to hand, and Yang hasn't once activated her semblance as a last resort (don't know if that's out of control or her ptsd is preventing her from doing so. if so, completely understandable.) but Weiss' never really had a weakness until it was, let's be honest, tagged on in 3. while a lot of things got crammed in and rushed in the 3rd volume, they at least made an effort to foreshadow a lot of it, but summoning was never really talked about or foreshadowed. now her learning how to summon is fine and all, but now, it's like it's her only ability. her glyphs, her shooting dust out of Myrtenaster, have kind of gone out the window. and i say only, because in this fight it seemed like she relied too much on trying to make it work rather than her other abilities. and yeah, she'll use it as a jump/landing pad here and there, but in Volumes 1 & 2, she was able to do much more than create a wall of ice or jump off walls. it's like if Ruby learned how her silver eyes work and began to learn how to control it, but then she suddenly forgot about her speed or her excellence with her scythe and used the eyes more than her other abilities. im fine with her learning it but, she has other useful things too.
"You Sound JUST like your mother" ... there is a LOOOOOT of history in that sentence.
Makes you wonder if Ozpin focused on Ruby because he saw something in her that was similar to Summer in team STRQ
Or Raven’s still jealous because Tai went to Summer after her and it may not even have been that long after she left.
"Why did you bring your weapons? Our ambush won't go according to plan now."
"And you also brought two extra children! We won't be able to deal with these overwhelming numbers!"
I always find it funny when Leo says that because he has a weapon on himself too and then he just hides it behind him like it's not there! #hypocrite
@@meganjankowski1124 Yeah, he's not very smart.
"Who are you again?"
Sickest. Burn. Ever.
Facts
Real talk, that's one of my favorite moments of the season. It subverts your expectations while making perfect sense for Cinder's character.
Cinder fall? She did
Cinder really did burn jaune
"For you it was the most important day of your life, for me, it was a Tuesday"
Almost every death in RWBY can be traced back to Leo. The amount of blood on his hands is staggering.
Jaune's semblance is the ability to get his friends killed.
Monarch Black .... Damn
Monarch Black fuck you
Here's your cookie.
Lol why 🙃
Then keep Jaune and Qrow away from each other at all costs
*Insert Hole-y Weiss puns here*
Weiss I think is a bit rusty compared to the rest of the team. Ruby's been out in the wild with JNR and Yang had trained with Tai at least. Weiss was stuck in the Schnee mansion and only been relying on summons.
There's a hole in this Weiss.
It is a good theory but if they were low on dust that would effect all of them to some extent not just Weiss and something that important should have been mentioned.
cameraphone120 it's a hypothesis, not a fact. we'll see what happens next season.
It's also possible that she realizes that Vernal just outclasses her in combat and felt like the only way she'd stand a chance is to use the Knight
arcanask I guarantee you've thought about this more than Rooster Teeth has.
Ixion THANK YOU
It kinda sucked seeing Weiss in this fight because it showed just how much her combat-smarts have stagnated and maybe even degraded. She looked great in the aerial fight, but that was a shooting gallery.
I think she potentially could be the best fighter out of the whole team, but she's had the least ability to actually refine her skills.
Exactly! It's been so long since she practiced basic combat skills, of course her situational awareness is garbage.
Insult to injury
Oh for sure she meant to do that
I can't wait to see her bite it
Cinder's semblance is making weapons. From the first time we saw Cinder, she had already taken half of Ambers power beforehand. So all the fire stuff is because of her maiden power.
Well, cinders semblance is being able to heat stuff up by touching it.
The blow Weiss took was around the liver. The liver fights poisons. Weiss is based on Snow White. Snow White ate a poisoned apple. Also with the way they did I agree with them and think Rooster Teeth was going for more of a shock factor for this episode rather than emotional factor.
When Cinder becomes the Night King and Weiss becomes Viserion.
FUCK thanks for the reminder...
We have a duty to follow orders and if we must, lay down our lives for victory."
He knew he didn't have a big chance against Cinder, but still took it.
Regardless of the outcome, well done Jaune /(- _ -)
Well done? LOL! Yeah, i can see what you're talking about, but holy shit the guy is dumb af. After this episode every time i hear he speaks ''You don't need a weapon, you're the STRATEGIST'' i laugh my ass off
Lol a big chance? His chances were close to maybe 5%?
And despite his bravery in fighting Cinder hes still acting like an idiot.
Hes letting himself be affected by what cinder is saying instead of focusing in the fight.
Hes just crying and whining a lot.
I thought season 4 was supposed to be the season where they get over their sorrows and problems and keep moving forward.
Jaune kinda let himself down in this fight though.
he's also acting like that because cinder killed pyrrha
Her semblance is actually Scorching Caress. She can heat things up
@@tristianjones8915 that's how she killed Pyhrra.
@@kingraplhmativo5178 Yeah
I really hope that we get a chance to see them react to the Chibi eposides, they were all a lot of fun, and I hate to see Rwby reactions to end.
Yang: "Mom?"
Qrow: "So anyway, I started blasting"
Fun Fact: the spear Cinder used against Weiss at the very end looked very similar to Pyrrah's spear.
This is how I remind myself that no what kind of past cinder had, she deserves. Every. Single. Amount of pain she'll end up recieving
Jaune
Fact is, we don't know what Cinders semblance is, simply because it's hard to tell where the maiden powers end, and her own begin
People keep saying "it's glass! it's glass!" yet we have a line straight up saying "but I don't think that's her semblance."
it might been hard cause at the time, ruby did not know about madiens and as a result, it hard to show off what power where there when Ruby fought her, compare to say with Cinder first fought Amber too.
Oops, i should have checked your comment before commenting, guess im wrong
I think it was actually those explodey things that she uses (she did use them before she got the maiden powers)
Fernando arantes Wasn't it glass?
They specifically mention in the show that it wasn't glass
Yeah it might be heat which she uses to create crystal/glass weapons by heating Dust, rumble and normal dust around her and ignite them to explode like when she fought Amber
More RWBY reactions, the better. Loving these.
Cinders response to Jaunes whole rant/speech is probably the most hurtful thing she could have said to him.
MORE RWBY!
Also kind of agree with Eric. Came for the fights, stay for the story and characters
“It’s a panic button” 😂
Cinder walks right by ruby, who blinded one of her eyes, took away her voice, and paralyzed one of her arms and who's currently pinned down by Emerald to stab Weiss to hurt Jaune who she asked, "Who are you again?"
*sigh*
Because hes clearly going to keep attacking her. When she deals with Ruby she wants to take her time. You need to clear the adds first for that.
So you're calling Cinder stupid...........can't argue with that ;)
wow, what great timing, i literally just finished the latest episode of this series.
Ikr last yr I just got hooked to this show and just as I nearly finished s4 s5 was released such good timing
Anyone know why Jaune tried a stabbing motion instead of a cleaving motion when attacking a weakened Cinder? It's a broadsword not a rapier.
Adrenaline probs
AND SO BEGINS THE FINALE
The first time we see Cinder in the show takes place after she had attacked the Fall Maiden and had stolen a portion of her magic. To my knowledge, Cinder was a good fighter and archer. I don't think we have ever seen her semblance. What we thought was her semblance was actually stolen Maiden magic.
Tina L her semblance is glass manipulation. She created glass shards and threw them at Amber. Same with Ruby as well
No Kidding? How did I not know that? LOL It just makes her even more of a danger than she was before. Thank you for the info, Nico!
Tina L Also Cinder is based on CINDERella. Guess what Cinderella had? Glass slippers
My mind is officially blown. XD In my own defense, I did know about the Cinder = Cinderella connection, I just didn't extrapolate the glass motif. Very cool.
I love Calvin's sound effects in the theme song. Those gave me life.
People keep saying Cinder's semblance: "it's glass! it's glass!" yet we have a line straight up saying "but I don't think that's her semblance."
I love when yangfsaid mom qrow immidietly shoots the nearest bird
2:00-2:30~ the mirrored semi-facepalms though
16:42 the mood of the fandom for a whole week
Also, does it bother anyone else that Ren and Nora have no reaction at all to seeing Cinder? Pyrrha may have been more to Jaune, but she was their teammate, too.
Calvin’s sound effect made me laugh so hard haha!
Don’t do it again or too much....
2:17
I'd pay for a full video of just this.
Glass weapons is her semblance I believe. She has always had part of the maiden powers and that’s always where she got the fire from.
yeah Eric is right the fights were better in early volumes. I dont want to spoil but the fighting they do in this room you see here is just boring slow and with pauses and sometimes characters are just missing or people sheth weapons or so and next scene they fight again. really bugs me.
Yeah. CRWBY really should have taken a bigger break before doing the rest of the Volume.
only the yang fight, sun vs ilia, and the begining of cinder vs raven was any good which is sad
I’m stupid her name is Vernal because of the vernal equinox (spring equinox)
Oscar did NOT have a choice, just as Ozpin did NOT have a choice. It's a CURSE after all.
This is one of my favourite episodes in the entire series.
And of course Cinder had to use a weapon so similar to Pyrrha's.
mad respect for Jaune for seeing his chance to kill Cinder and fucking taking it
These last few episodes are my favorite.
The look of disgust on Eric's face after Cinder says "Who are you again?"
You guys ever thinking about looking into Monty oum’s earlier works like dead fantasy?
Omg Eric and Aaron’s face!
I hope you guys see this, but think like this, her name is Cinder which is a pyroclastic material, igneous rock, she can materialize weapons from dust and ashes, so i think that her semblance some kind of pyroclast control or something like that, i think she only can use fire because she's the fall maiden, the only time she wasn't was when she fought the previous fall maiden where she only ignited the pyroclastic arrows to make them explode, maybe something close to fire but not exactly fire like right now, thats my opinion, and why does she want that much power, we dont anything from her past, maybe shes trying to fight back against salem or she lost something or someone in the past, this questions keep poping in my head when i see her
I legit screamed when weiss got impaled
Well first off don't get me wrong I like this fighting but yeah you can tell it's not the same as if Monty was here
And don't expect to see such animation style in near future. Monty was one of a kind of animator.
What if instead of shouting "NOOO" Jaune said "HEY WEISS TURN THE FUCK AROUND"
Welcome to the wake-up call that is the last 4 episodes of Volume 5.
I think the writing on RWBY is better than the writing on some shows that are still going on on actual T.V....
Calvin great person BEST soundboard
Silver eyes is basically a tactical nuke
blind wave cinder was a maiden in the first ep
Most people can't survive a gaping hole in their stomach the size of a coke can all the way through. Aside from hitting the liver or kidneys, I'm pretty sure her intestines were severed, not to mention bleeding out if the weapon didn't cauterize and just potentially dying of shock.
Volume 5 was kinda a dissapointment. I hope they really pick it up in volume 6
Has no one mentioned the irony of pyrhha's dilemma of self identify and Ospin's EXISTENCE of merging with people. I always have this thought, but I never hear it brought up.
Jaunne missed cinder's face by inches millimeters even
You guys should react to the SLVR trailers :)
From here on out it's about to get real guys!
Your right about the fights taking a turn for the worst a bit BUT all i can say is you will be pleasantly suprised before the season ends 😜
FCK YEAH
Personally I missed cinder's duel blade/bow but hey infinite weapons on hand I guess.
She used in volume 8
Calvin Sound effects :D
Cant wait for the next few episodes best RWBY so far imo
Anyone besides me think Ruby has PTSD or some form of trauma an example is 14:45 through 14:52
Funny how Cinder literally burnt Pyrrha to ashes but her deadliest use of fire was when she Roasted Jaune
I thought Cinder's semblance is glass forging
Weiss is my favorite character, I literally created a list of tactics Weiss could do to easily counter Vernal. She is currently the most versatile and most powerful on Team RWBY. Don't @ me. Blake being second.
Community Gamer I’m still pretty sure the strongest character on team RWBY is Yang. Sure Weiss’ glyphs are extremely powerful, but their time to charge makes them inconsistent. If she trained more and made it be summoned faster than she’d be the strongest but as of right now Yang is first and I’d honestly put Blake last in terms of feats.
Bluest Togepi Blake has the best feats. Yang is actual fodder.
Bluest Togepi You almost had me for a moment. Lmao good one.
Community Gamer you gonna provide evidence to back up your statement?
I do hate how they make Weiss fight focusing only on trying to bring out her Knight. I do feel it's kinda lazy in my opinion.
But from a story standpoint it does make sense
Why is it so good to pronounce "Fatman Chad"? What's the magic in this?
While it doesn't matter in the grand scheme of the show, Im bunmed they didn't notice Lionheart is a faunus.
I cannot wait for your next reaction ^_^
who agrees that raven is stacked
Honestly, they need to get some better fighting. I mean yeah they don't have Monty(RIP) but I hope they find someone who knows what they are doing. This fight the suspense was high, usually even if the character does not stand a chance they have some choreography. Here everytime Jaune went out for it they only showed them clashing and then shifted the camera elsewhere. And it was so slow it was kinda not in synch with the suspense built up.
Calvin, Invoker has 3 elements to command, not 4. Quas, Wex and Exort. I'm guessing you haven't played enough recently.
Can you watch the rest of the chapters together?
So they have less of a chance to forget everything that happened every episode? Might not be the worst idea... ;)
2:15 never related more to Aaron
to be honest, Weiss is kind of the weakest (currently). but not by much. blake, ruby and yang have had their own weaknesses, but they've learned to make up for them.
Only cowards use shields. FIGHT LIKE A MAN!!!😈😠👊
PS:if I see someone talk shit about jaune @ me. We can discuss why he's amazing in the comments. 😆😉😊
