Even if it did, this means they can bring her back at least 2 or 3 times which is as much as you need to keep her alive for the entire overarching plot. In other words, the stakes are super low. Worst case scenario, her dad will die (he's a minor character so no one except for Penny will be too beat up by it). I personally think this season could've been better without her.
Fun fact: This episode was supposed to be Volume 6's finale, but they didn't have enough time to make all of Mantle for just one episode, so it's Volume 7's premiere. I think its better as a premiere than a finale.

It was never really outright stated who hacked the Atlas Robots, but alot of people theorized that it was Watts since he's from Atlas, as stated by Raven in V5 C9, "A disgraced Atlesian Scientist", and that when Lionheart was talking to Watts in V5 C1, a W appears. The same W that appeared in V3 C3 on Cinder's Scroll when she hacked the fights. So it's likely that he might have created the Black Queen Virus as he seems like the Tech Guy and his connection to Atlas.
PROPS to Rick for figuring out the AceOps = Aesop's Fables connection. Remember how all the characters in the show are allusions of some kind? Maybe as the AceOps get more characterization try and figure out which fables they represent? Be cool to see.

So excited for you to get into what may very well be the best Volume of RWBY yet! It was Cinder (aka. The Black Queen) in Volume 2 Chapter 7 "Dance, Dance, Infiltration" who uploaded the Black Queen computer virus into the CCT and Atlas systems and took over all their technology, which helped her bring about The Fall of Beacon. Rick, you were spot on with the Ace Ops being based on Aesop's Fables. And the Ace Ops leader's weapon is a fishing rod, not a whip. This relates to the Aesop's Fable he's based off of: "A Fisherman's Good Luck."
Happy to see you guys back. Lot of fun nuggets this chapter. The Mantle cityscapes grew from RT's gen:Lock series. The Ace-Ops (Aesops - Good catch Rick!) are based on 5 different fables. Have a blast figuring out which ones (there are hundreds of Aesops fables). JNPR is technically restored before Penny is reintroduced....Jaune, Nora, Oscar PINE and Ren. So Oscar's last name is the P. This Volume answers a lot of questions that lingered from Volume Three. Also some bigger questions, too. Brace yourself, this Volume is a wild ride.

I never realy got the whole penny being back ruins v3 or makes the fall of beacon pointless cause like yangs arm is still gone. pyrrha is still dead. oz is dead and is now in oscars body.[Technicaly the fall of beacon is the main reason oscar even is in the plot] hell a main thing that happened in v3 is pointed out in this ep which is the atlas robots getting hacked which has major consequences with it causing iron wood to heavily increase security in mantle. Penny was the only truly reversible thing from the fall of beacon cause she's a robot she can be remade unlike pyrrha who is now probably partially in ruby's lungs.
Right i hate how ppl are downgrading it like oh the robot came back it was pointless, but they don't acknowledge everything or well everyone else lost too get their sooooo they're dumb

Y’know, I’ve watched this volume with many reactors, but just now thought of something about the Relic of Creation. Originally I thought similar to Djinn, there would be someone in the spear of creation, but thought it was going to be the Titan Atlas, because that’s the name of the kingdom. Calxiyn made a similar theory. But now that I think about it, it’s a Spear if Creation and the only creation stories that I know of that involve a spear are Norse and Shinto, and the Shinto story is the only one where violence isn’t really involved, and the only one that raises the world out from something, namely the sea. What is a tundra but a giant frozen sea? And the whole premise of Atlas is this moral foundation of rising above challenges, according to Ozpin. So, what if, the spear doesn’t have a spirit, but spirits? What if it’s Izanami and Izanagi?
Watts created the Queen Virus that Cinder used to hack the Beacon CCT Tower and then Roman used to hack Ironwood's airships and AK-200s (the robots). The robots that got hacked during the Fall of Beacon is what was referred to in this episode.
Honestly I think for me in terms of volumes so far I'd say 1- Volume 2 2- Volume 7 3- Volume 3 4- Volume 6 5- Volume 1 6- Volume 5 7- Volume 4 I actually haven't disliked any volume so far. I'm super hyped to see their reactions to this volume

I think it would still be JNPR, because the team leader's initial is first, and they don't always use the first name. Example: (J)aune Arc (N)ora Valkyrie Oscar (P)ines Lie (R)en I think it would only be ORNJ if Oz came back and was the one in control.
Shane Meyer Alpine actually makes me think of mountains and therefore snow so I tend to associate with white, but I definitely prefer ALPN, JNPR just makes it seem like they’re trying to replace Pyrrha :(
The hacking was referring to the fall of beacon, Where they hacked the ships and drones and all systems, and cuz of the security level of atlas tech, they suspect it might be one of them

In volumes 2 and 3, the "Black Queen" virus that Cinder sneaked into the CCT system allowed her to access all sorts of valuable info (like the fact that Penny was a robot), control the match-ups during the Vytal Tournament, and ultimately hack all of Atlas's drones during the attack on Vale to turn them against civilians. Because the CCT went down right after, the last thing the other kingdoms saw was Atlas's drones attacking people, so until Atlas could communicate that they were hacked, they were seen as traitors. It was never explicitly stated who was responsible, but we know Dr. Watts of Salem's faction was an Atlesian scientist, and he made Tyrian's new tail, so he's something of a tech-guy.

That makes sense. The final episode of V6 felt like a pause rather than a stop, y'know?
It's cuz of that that the V6 finale and V7 premiere don't feel like a finale or premiere. They didn't leave a good taste in my mouth.
So THAT'S why Volume 7 has 13 episodes.
Mantle also looks like they applied some lessons from Gen:Lock, which is cool. Gen:Lock made RWBY7 better, indirectly.

Here’s something you guys may not know the new voice actor for Qrow plays the villain Dabi in My Hero Academia and plays Universe 6’s God of Destruction Champa in Dragon Ball Super
The hacking was in Vol. 2 and 3 and was a key part of the Fall of Beacon at the end of Vol. 3.

If the Opening is any indication, Oscar Pine is already the replacement member for JNPR, and the last name can be used in various situations, like Lie Ren in JNPR, Sky Lark in CRDL, and Mei Zedong in BRNZ

I believe they are hinting towards Pinocchio with the Penny/Pietro story - notice the whale on Pietro's shelf in his Mantle clinic, possibly harking to whale named Monstro in the WD Film. Anyways loved seeing Penny return.

I think it would still be JNPR, because the team leader's initial is first, and they don't always use the first name.

I think it would only be ORNJ if Oz came back and was the one in control.
ALPN is what I prefer just to signify that it is a different team

Shane Meyer Alpine actually makes me think of mountains and therefore snow so I tend to associate with white, but I definitely prefer ALPN, JNPR just makes it seem like they’re trying to replace Pyrrha :(

The hacking was referring to the fall of beacon, Where they hacked the ships and drones and all systems, and cuz of the security level of atlas tech, they suspect it might be one of them

In volumes 2 and 3, the "Black Queen" virus that Cinder sneaked into the CCT system allowed her to access all sorts of valuable info (like the fact that Penny was a robot), control the match-ups during the Vytal Tournament, and ultimately hack all of Atlas's drones during the attack on Vale to turn them against civilians. Because the CCT went down right after, the last thing the other kingdoms saw was Atlas's drones attacking people, so until Atlas could communicate that they were hacked, they were seen as traitors.
It was never explicitly stated who was responsible, but we know Dr. Watts of Salem's faction was an Atlesian scientist, and he made Tyrian's new tail, so he's something of a tech-guy.
Penny's alive? What brilliant individual could have, REPEATEDLY, predicted that?
