Love the meaning of this song/video. People do anything for likes/follows/subscribers nowadays and she’s calling that out. Sometimes people even end up hurting themselves for social media attention. It’s crazy so I loved that she called that out. It was dark and dope.
This song was great, don't even really need subtitles to understand what's happening. That's what I love about a lot of kpop, they actually tell a story with the video.
Yeah Sunmi's style is always pretty dark and quirky which I love! I suggest Siren as another really good one!

Sunmi is very bold and unique with her concepts, and never drops her class while doing so.

I'm into Sunmi lately and this song is so sonically pleasing... great reaction too, whenever there's new notif from your channel I always find time to watch it cos I have never been disappointed with your content. Keep it going guys. Also, there's this artist that you might enjoy too, her name is Anda, and her song is called - What you waiting for. The song has the same producer of some of blackpinks hits, and he is featured in the video too. I read somewhere that it's supposed to be a blackpink song so it might interest you guys. Hehe. Fun fact: The Korean word for "black" and the Korean word for "(internet) search" are the same - "검색 (geomsaek)" - and "noir" is just French for "black", right? So "we are in noir" could be translated into Korean as "we exist inside internet searches". And that adds just a whole level to the song's message.
I've been a Wonder Girls fan for a decade, and I just saw Sunmi live a few months ago in Berlin, from the second row. She is magnetic, otherworldly, and incredibly funny - and she is probably the most avant-garde and thus most important artist in the industry right now. She pushes the envelope like no one else.

Sunmi has an album coming out this summer, not a lot of details about it yet (mostly I'm curious if it's full length or another mini album/EP), but I'm definitely looking forward to it. You should definitely watch the rest of her MVs, a lot of people love the solo stuff she did while still with the company she was under with Wonder Girls (Full Moon and 24 Hours) but I'm personally a huge fan of the stuff she's done since she joined her current company. I definitely get the sense that she has a lot more creative control with them, with the song writing and production as well as the videos. And I just really love the shit she comes up with. She had some song credits with JYP but definitely has a lot more now.
Her earlier stuff is enjoyable, but I just don't get the sense that it was what she really wanted to do, which I think somewhat impacts how much I'm able to enjoy it. She was doing a lot more of a "sexy" vibe back then, and I mean she's still sexy now but just in a totally different way. I feel like it's just more representative of her as person and artist.

Sunmi is beyond an idol to me. She is a true artist who is not afraid to be unconventional and weird. Really respect her! Definitely get around to checking her other songs out too. Siren is a personal fav.
She's also a pretty mean bass player. Wonder Girls did the band concept before they disbanded and it was amazing. I Feel You and Why So Lonely are the MVs you want. Her individual teaser for I Feel You is worth checkong out. Bass solo!!

you can break Sunmi's career into 4 parts because she left Wonder Girls in early 2010 and returned in 2015, then she had her solo releases under JYP and now at her new company. this style as a soloist post JYP has been her best imo (Gashina, Heroine, Siren & Noir) - very creative and quirky. there is a hint of this in the final Wonder Girls single (Why So Lonely) as well. her JYP solos are well worth checking out - the video for Full Moon is so cool and her song Burn (which was a b-side track) is still in some of my playlists. look forward to seeing your reactions to some of these.

Sunmi has some very artistic music videos, all of them are. Heroine and Siren are newer releases of her's, but you should check out Full Moon. It was one of her first solo releases. PLEASE react to Bon Bon Chocolat by Everglow, they are a new girl group that just debuted like a week ago. They are under Yuehua Entertainment which is a South Korean/Chinese company. One of the members is Chinese. Anyway, I think you guys would go bonkers over it.

Sunmi just released a new song! th-cam.com/video/H8YW1tlsmE8/w-d-xo.html By the way I don't think you know this but she plays bass, when wonder girls came back after awhile and she joined them again they came back as an actual band and all learned instruments for it, you should check out their songs I Feel You and Why So Lonely! Anyway she wanted to do something for summer that she's never done so she went for a brighter fun vibe(her closest song to a summer cheerful vibe in her opinion is Gashina). She always tries to make a point to tell an important story/show ugly or weird or "quirky"(I hate that word) sides of her in her music because she isn't some perfect idol and she doesn't want to give that image(you'd probably reallllly enjoy her b.side called Black Pearl which is about fame(and her) being pretty on the outside but dark on the inside) which is why in her Gashina mv she has a glamor shoot scene with trash blowing around and into her and only showing weird dancing even tho the actual dance for it took korea by storm, and obviously Noir was a very clear story and point. With this song she's still herself as always but it's the least story driven mv of hers which isn't a bad thing just an observation. Her song Lalalay, which I really think you'd like, is very much a fuck you to people who judge her(the title is also an insult like what you call party girls or girls who like to have fun) and she just went and reclaimed it like a queen while still being as hot and as weird as she wants. I saw her last year when she became the first female kpop soloist to have a world tour and her performance was amazing but listening to her talk(shes fairly fluent in English she lived in the states for awhile during Wonder Girls early years) made me an even bigger fan of hers. This is all terribly jumbled and a run on I'm sorry it probably makes no sense. If you ever want a similar loona guide for sunmi or wonder girls I'd be happy to help! I promise it would be worded better than this 😂😂

She really called out the whole kpop industry with that one as well as social media in general. Idols have to do Vlives with their fans and produce content on social media like Naver and Instagram at a level that means they are *contantly* working and there's no real mental health services that are widely available. JYPE hired therapists for their talent after SHINEE's Kim Jonghyun took his own life in 2017, but not many are following suit. Add in all the regular folks putting themselves in real danger or faking a crisis and Sunmi has a lot to critique.
