      @RobinsonLaneScaryNed 8 ปีที่แล้ว

    • @Snubbs
      @Snubbs 8 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      +racergsxr1 well you can see really quickly at the end, when he hits the water, the UI disappears, similar to if the root part had been destroyed. Also, notice how the vessel that surfaces has none of the parts the vessel that landed did. Even if it was a rough landing and things were destroyed, at least a few parts should have survived to float back up to the surface with the capsule. I suspect the pod was destroyed at the end of the mission, but by the time you've actually gotten home and would easily be able to land via a quickload and parachute deploy edit, you're pretty well done anyway.

    • @eno2870
      @eno2870 8 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      +Gordon Rammstein Yeah, the end was edited. Not only is it not the same vessel coming back up out of the water, but the camera view jumps slightly and the mission timer resets back to zero. So, sadly.. they all died. Darn government cover ups!

    • @Snubbs
      @Snubbs 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Jeremy Roney
      I believe the ascent from Venus was also edited. The teeny tiny final stage had a much lower delta V than that required to neutralize the relative velocity to the mothership. To be honest, after docking all the parts and making the long, slow burn to venus, i think i wouldn't really mind editing a few things in and out as well.

    This game looks AMAZING. It's not just something where you randomly slap together stuff and get instant gratification. No, if you want to go to Venus in this game? You have to plan, plan, plan, plan, plan, plan, plan, PLAN and risk everything in order to get there, let alone land there. Nobody can hold your hand, nobody's going to help you. It's all about how skilled you are and how far that skill can take you. And the feeling of success after going there and back again? Beyond words.

    Truly a great work. The amount of figuring out for weights and TWR and the associated gravities etc to figure the different crafts while also being able to match what was left to what was going to be needed. ie after all you had already done with stages and gravity assists etc to have figured it for the specific stages needed and then the final small burners to just have enough to get your return capsule into orbit to rendezvous with the return ship was amazing. Also, with a few of those "lengthwise" shots of the ship from near the body I thought the Kraken was going to show up and do a cancan on all your broken rocket bits. Some serious disco going on hehehe ;~) Liked and Subbed.

    • @maccollo
      @maccollo  4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      The lander was tested ahead of the mission. I was not about to take on something like this without testing that part thoroughly beforehand. The testing lander worked flawlessly every time. However I somehow managed to screw it up by accidentally changing the size of the landing platform after finishing the design. I also accidentally screwed up the propellant balance on the boosters. You can see the in the video how this almost ruined the mission in multiple ways, like how things started to explode from heating during Venus EDL.
      Thanks for the like and sub! I feel a bit bad though because I'm not really actively making videos :|

      That actually surprised me too, but the shock heating doesn't really kick in until the pressure drops to a few atmospheres. I think it's because the atmospheric pressure is already so high that the relatively small increase in the shock wave doesn't result in any significant increase in temperature.
