    Thks for the plan and the design. Simple and reailable ideas are the best!!. Does it have some airfoil shape at the trailing edge?. Any recommendations for the throws or Expo for the elevons to start with?

    • @fpvcombat
      @fpvcombat  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thanks for the input, will consider to update the plans with these additional info!
      Leading edge is simply rounded manually using some knife and sandpaper, trailing edge same simply shaped to make it thinner at the very end where ailerons/elevons are attached.
      The model is pretty aggressive so I would consider at least 30-50% expo and throws around +2.5cm -1.5cm

    • @fpvcombat
      @fpvcombat  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Did you published an other question? I got a notification but can’t find the comment here…
      If you asked about trailing edge, it was simply shaped with cutter and some sand paper, no templates, no Hotwire at least in my case…

    Hi. This seems like a really great idea of how to enhance fpv flying. In my opinion, you could reach out to more people if you would aim also for quadcopter pilots, because there is a lots of quad pilots, that could be interested. Also there could be some more gamemodes, and much more.I would be interested if there is any way of how i could contribute to you and your idea.

    Just saw this video. I see it's from 5 months ago. Is this going to be a standard combat plane?
    I think having planes that perform equally is really important. I flew streamer rc combat for many years. We had a limited class. One thing I can guarantee is that pilots will figure out a way to get better performance! A minimum weight is important too. Lighter will always perform better. And sacrifice durability. Durability is important too. Pilots give up if they have to constantly rebuild.

    • @fpvcombat
      @fpvcombat  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes the purpose of this class was exactly to standardize performances for all participants in that class.
      We had the chance to test the platform during latest fpv combat camp in Poland and it was really fun! We couldn’t really find any particular weak points in its design or rules.
      In this case too light is just gonna make it slower and too sensitive to even small wind and in general nobody really was really that light to think that we we needed a minimum weight.
      We tried to keep it as simple as possible so that would be accessible to everybody.
      There will also be the open class where pilots have the opportunity to improve their favorite designs to perform the best they can!
      In any case the main purpose of this is having fun! So as far as the “fun factor” is there everything is great!

    • @fpvcombat
      @fpvcombat  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      There are different techniques for flying wings... I strongly recommend you to join our community on facebook and post there the same question! Me and many others also built our own take off ramp with simple pvc pipes...
      facebook.com/groups/2441262976051510
      I personally grab the model from one wing tip and give about 80/90% throttle and manually "guide" so that it start straight... (like frisbee but without pushing the model, just helping it to go straight)
      With this specific model me and many others could successfully take off vertically!

    Will there be other standardized classes for FPV Combat? For example, for larger models or vice versa for SUB250.

    • @fpvcombat
      @fpvcombat  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Honestly I don’t think so…
      Sub250 would be really challenging either to build (considering the extra hardware) and enjoyable only during days with zero wind.
      On the other side an other class for bigger model would probably collect some unhappy feedback from several pilots…
      From my direct experience at FPVC Camps I learned that people are in love with their own models! The ones that they decided to buy build, cut or print, they’re proud to use, show, fight and eventually destroy them!
      The main idea behind the RaptuS is to give to each participant the opportunity to have fun at official events but not to restrict the fun with too complex rules!
      I can’t promise that will be always the same in future of course…
      What do you think? Makes it sense to you?

    • @LEON_pilot
      @LEON_pilot 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@fpvcombat If FPV Combat is perceived only as entertainment and not a regular competitive sport, then your argument makes sense to me. But if FPV Combat should become a regular competition discipline, then it makes no sense to me, at least, to mix DIGITAL and ANALOG FPV pilots in one common discipline. In my layman's opinion, this is a big handicap for low resolution grainy analog video.

    • @fpvcombat
      @fpvcombat  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@LEON_pilot FPV Combat is designed for hobbyists to have fun! neither invented for pure competition nor just entertainment.
      I partially agree with you however at the moment we don't see enough people engaged in this discipline yet...
      It is slowly growing but especially now, the active pilots are using really different setups splitting everybody in different categories would result probably in very boring competition since might be the case with that some of them would be picked only by a couple of people.
      on the other side you can't force everybody to participate to all categories. Imagine a competition, it's really different if participants are 10 or 100 right? well now we are still very far from the 100 and definitely closer to 15/20 pilots.
      Out of curiosity how many of your flying buddies are also using the FPV Combat system?

    • @LEON_pilot
      @LEON_pilot 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@fpvcombat In the Czech Republic it is still very difficult to find someone for FPV Combat. I only know of a few other pilots and that only by hearsay. However, I would not be afraid to include FPV Combat among other Air Combat disciplines, such as ACES ESA EPA, so that even sports model clubs have a chance to notice them. All these ACES Combat disciplines are defined by certain rules. So why not give the same care to the FPV Combat discipline. This does not rule out that one of their categories cannot be an "Open" where many types and sizes of RC models and a mix of FPV technologies can fit in these early hours. It's just my opinion, but it seems a shame to consider FPV Combat as something less important than, say, ACES Combat just because it's such a very new discipline. I would very much like to see, for example, also FPV Combat WWI category :-)

    • @fpvcombat
      @fpvcombat  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You could get more feedback from other users as well in the official “FPV combat - community” group on Facebook… however fighting requires definitely more attention and brain resources than just flying!
      The first times I tested the system with friends I used to feel like my brain was absolutely saturated for the duration of the fight!
      If I used to dedicate e.g. 50% of brain to focus on controlling the model during fight I would have needed an extra 80%!!! Resulting in something like 30% lack of “brain resources”!!!
      Of course this is just an example and everybody might feel different!
      In any case I promise that during a battle you will completely forget about any problem of your life even if only for a few minutes!

  • @autonoob

    What are the limitatons regarding shape?
    Can the tips be rounded?
    Increased relative size of control surfaces?
    Add landing gear/skid?
    Add a ”cockpit to protect electronics?
    Are rudders ok?
    I want to experiment :)

    • @fpvcombat
      @fpvcombat  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Shape should be within a couple cm of tolerance referring to the official drawing.
      The tips can be rounded
      Relative size of control surface is definitely not needed... but you can try if you want extreme performances.
      you can add the stuff that you want!
      In general it is intended to provide a common platform with very similar performances for all players especially during competitions!
      Nobody will check the shape and size within mm of tolerances at the moment!
      Just have fun!

      @@fpvcombat Cool, I just built one and flew it today. It’s a handful :) I can’t be sure if the throws are too big, too small, if it’s nose or tailheavy and if I need more or less expo :)

      @@autonoob are you the guy from Sweden?
      What are your throws? Where is your cg? If it is exactly the same size as the provided plan with the CG at 29cm it’s good, don’t overthink about it’s placement…
      Adjust your throws since the model is naturally pretty aggressive… especially on pitch axis don’t go too crazy!
      Did you set dual rates? Expo might depend by radio’s brand but if you like expo start at around 50%. I generally don’t set expo and d/r immediately, I prefer to maiden the model with pretty aggressive rates and NO expo since it help me to get more confident about its real nature.

    • @autonoob
      @autonoob 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@fpvcombat Hi, thanks I got it flying. Sorry I didn’t see your reply. The cg was to far back 300mm or so. It also needed stiffening and streamlining, I had a big battery box on top of the nose. Which caused massive drag pitching the plane up. I sunk the battery into the wing and moved the motor forward to fix the cg. All this was much easier to figure out on a calmer day :) Haven’t had time to put the fpv gear on yet, but will hopefully set that up tomorrow.
