Only correction I will make is its not a floor wax. There is no wax in it at all. Its a super thin acrylic coating, with flow enhancers, and a some durability enhancement.
Could you use epoxy to seal silver or chromed finishes? And is a super reflective surface better than a dull one? Some lures work better once they're beat up and dulled a little.
Thanks for sharing, a pledge used for 30 years. On my 2nd bottle haha! How is the durability on the new stuff? Future is a pretty thick/durable coating after a week or so. I tried Bona and it’s mediocre at best.
@@EngineeredAngler still waiting for my tre-wax to arrive, so I bought a pledge multisurface polish original as well. how many layers do you recommand for both of these with airbrushing? im thinking if i can use my lure directly after it dry or do I need another layer before hitting the water?
Interesting video. So the pledge future was discontinued and the pledge floor wax as well or is the latter just costly? I have yet to attempt chrome like finishes. The silver plate look really nice but that process is more elaborate than I care to get involved with. Thanx for the video
I was wondering if you would recommend a different silicone for molding because the granny doreen you talked about a few videos ago in no longer available. Love the video keep up the good work :)
Thanks so much! About automotive clear coat, i suppose you mean the 2 components, clear coat and hardener, have you ever try to spray It by airbrush? Sorry if I ask, I can try by myself, task that i dont dare to try jet cause i am afraid Is going to kill my airbrush. Thanks!
in one of your older vids you mentioned being able to use a midcoat to be able to cleat over spaz stix. what can you use? I have to use spray chrome in an automotive use and it needs to be clearcoated for durability and unfortunately i cant use wax coating. what can i spray down after the chrome and before the clear to allow it to stay looking chrome but be able to put 2k or 1k or any other clear over it that s durable enough on a wheel
Thanks for this video. I don’t do anything silver other than regular silver airbrush paint as a base. But, that said… Is there a usage for this floor wax using colours? Would there be a benefit for this? Maybe to layer paint schemes instead of putting layers of epoxy to create depth? Just wondering….. thank you again for all you do! 👍🏻🇨🇦🎣
I got lucky and still have my pledge bottle, but I had to buy the tre wax “before” i found it and I’ll try the Molotow plus tre wax finish. You should try the Revell Chrom SPray and see if it would work also!
These are all interesting experiences, for example, to dilute colors I use windshield washer fluid from cars. Years ago, I was working as an electroplating technician, I used to take advantage of a customer of mine who chromed and silvered plastic products. I used to make resin artificials, then I would take them to my client and we would do etching in 30 percent solution with hydrochloric acid, pre palladium, immersion in palladium solution, chemical copper, acid electrolytic copper, then highly polished, then polished nickel and at the end silver or gold, at the finem in both cases a hoe which I then replaced with hairspray that ladies use when they style their hair, and the more lousy the hairspray the better.😁
That's really interesting...I was half way through designing a chrome electroplating setup when I discovered the silver deposition method. Much simpler, and safer.
Thanks Franco! Having worked with engineers my whole career your testing methodology is familiar! Have you tried using a clear lacquer? It's often used to protect metal, might work for your silver coating - a dab of clear nail polish would tell you if it's compatible. Don't think it would work on the silver/chrome painted surfaces though. Cheers!
I 2nd the comment about Walmart. Many times the same products are in the Spanish aisle under a different name but same mfgr. Like “Pledge” and “Favor”.
As a label printer since 1973 …. We deal with a lot of uv cured hi gloss varnishes that are used to gloss up our labels 4$ lb. 36$ gal /9 lbs Any label shops near you?
Chemistry experiments... yeah! Nice job. BTW for your previous video I wanted so badly to say three pounds six point two five ounces (in case it was your sense of humor in the irony that you'd have told us the difficult part already) but someone beat me to that number. So asking my subconscious (or whatever helps one guess), that bass has got to be much closer to three than four pounds, so picking the biggest spread before the first quarter my entry is 3lb 3.26oz. Take care amigo 😊
Just watched a video that used the Quick Shine multi floor finish on a model with chrome and the chrome stayed very shiny and did not dull...
Which video
Keep testing different shine products! I’d love to see if you can find that perfect replacement to pledge

Yup you're right...floor wax is just a catch all term (for me) for any floor polish. But its better to be accurate.
Thank you so much for sharing all of this information, your work is absolutely wonderful!
Quickshine from homedepot seems to work as well as future/pledge
your every single video solve a lot of grinding and search for me 😂
im struggling on chrome coating too.
Try with Revell Chrome spray and clear coat it..

Thanks for all the inspiration. I learn alot from these videos. I just posted my first build on all the fb groups. And couldn't be happier. Lol
👍
Who supplies your silver nitrate mix and part B? What mix down ratios do you use?
I get my chemicals from Angel Gilding
I made 2 lures but don’t know how to make/place or position the bib can they go without one or not
With out a bib it won't have the action nor will it dive. But if it sinks you can use it as a twitch bait.
you had me at turning plastic spoons from Wendy's into elegant silverware
Just wondered if kbs diamond is a costing you have tried
Yes.
Hi, can you do a video about the silverplating setup?
You should check out this playlist

Please do the long casting weight transfer hard plastic fishing lure in this silver
How toxic are the silvering chemicals?
The worst of it is the ammonia...definitely don't want to breathe it.

muchas gracias por este análisis, escribo desde Argentina

Is ther a easy way to plate blanks for kwikfish mag lips
What do you consider easy?
can you spray paint the tre-wax? I'm making an assemble lure which i need to preserve the internal thickness so I can't dip it in.
yes it sprays easy.
@@EngineeredAngler thank you! And I wish I can build a silver plating booth one day.😂

Great video! A couple questions for you. How durable is the Trewax, and can it be applied with an airbrush? And were you curing it with UV light?
well its floor was so its pretty durable but not forever. The UV was to set the UV epoxy resin.
Great video and good information

Check out my Amazon store....
Have you tried Quick Shine?...look at the ingredients, very similar to Pledge
I plan to try it...thanks

Yes I've used and airbrush to spray it but you need to be able to put out a little more volume than my brush could do. Clean immediately with acetone.

Honestly there's nothing that will keep it looking chrome. Floor wax will do the best job but even that dulls it a bit.
A couple of thoughts , would the new stuff take a light polishing or maybe it could be thinned with something

Sure works well as intermediate clear coats.

Walmart has pledge "revive it" floor polish. Same stuff as the pledge you have its just in a different label. And its not $65
do you use the 2 or 3 part spray chrome?

Yup.. I've tried it.
Surprised you didnt do the diluted polycrylic test with this one.
I had done that a while ago...

Can you just call the manufacturer and get the MSDS? And do the same for new candidate products before you even buy them?
Not sure would help...I don't enough about the chemical interactions.
Try estate sales they always have cleaners and waxes
Hi Franco……just a thought……Meguiars automotive polymers? It’s the stuff you find in the car cleaning supplies aisle……..UV proof….doesn’t yellow.
Tried it...didn't work. But thanks.

Maybe someone out there with a background in petrochemicals will chime in.
Minwax Polycrylic at Home Depot.
Pledge Floor Gloss Original, claimed to be same formula as future
Great video ++
I got a question, but sent it to you on Instagram. Hope the fishing is going well!

No...let me know if it works.
