I don't know if I'll ever have a use for a chrome finish but I really appreciate watching your actual demonstration. You're very honest and straightforward-- I still remember your definitive rattle-can chrome test -- go Revell! It's all right there in front of us, even if you've tested it first. Thanks for sharing, man. 😊
I ordered this myself in the day it launched. Can’t wait!! When you do the clear coat video at the end you should put the end pieces next to an actual vacuum metalized product to show the difference if any of the silver chrome
I saw this teased over on their Instagram, and it just seems like pure witchcraft. Really want to see how it takes a candy overcoat. If it's good, I'll have to pick some up for some of my kits. Thanks for testing this out!
This has earned by sub to you. Been watching more of your videos and the desire to try new stuff and experiment has given you an edge compared to many hobby YTers.
OMG WHAT AN ABSOLUTELY INCREDIBLE CHROME, WOW LOVING IT. Thank you for this awesome video. Expensive but a fantastic product. Hope the wife is healing up and doing much better. Everyone keep yourselves and love ones safe and healthy and remember to SMILE 😊God Bless 🙏🙏
Seeing it wiped on with a rag is kinda nuts for a chrome. Hopefully that also means it's sturdy even without a top coat. One worry I have though (except for the price) is how it gets such a different hue depending on how thick you put it on. I feel that might make it difficult to get a consistent look across several pieces, or across one larger piece. Sure, I guess it's a skill issue, but it's so difficult to put on exactly the same amount on several different pieces. Especially if they have tricky geometry.
I recommend sand and buffing surfaces as glossy as possible wherever you can, the stuff is very forgiving in the amount you apply as long as you heat the paint up to 170f for a few hours in order to cure it fully and make it even more chrome like. Solvent and even water based top coats can attack the chrome if its not heat treated first.
Very nice chrome. Would love to c a hydro chrome video just because it's unreal looking and not have to worry about it dulling when clear is applied or a clear color. Love the vids
@@josephherman5790 Phenex is the gold Unicorn-like mobile suit from Narrative. And yes, while the mythical bird is spelled Phoenix, the golden mobile suit is in fact spelled Phenex (and also pronounced differently).
Thanks for making a video about this! I heard about this chrome paint and wanted to see a video about it before buying. Just a quick question, is it somewhat durable without any topcoat? I noticed in his instructions he recommended a 2k clear with different mixing ratios than normal
Proscale Paints from UK have a similar approach. They even have their own specially formulated 2k clear for the gloss coat just like this one. They ship anywhere.
The gold chrome you are looking for is Armored komodo's candy chrome bright gold on top of alclad's chrome.. With the armored komodo gloss oil top coat. Been doing that for about a year.. just control how dark the gold would be with the number of coats.. can't tell the difference from electroplated gold
You, sir, are f*%cking amazing! I tried this on an actual chrome metal piece, and like you said, looked as if it was electroplated! By the way, what specific chrome paint you use other than alclad chrome? I tried finding one, but ain't anything available in my area.
@hexaldecima6839 i experimented with several.. armored komodo's is not good.. zurc's is almost there.. but not quite... Alclad is the only one that matches up with just the right tone...
Great looking product! When you do the next video with clearing over top of this chrome paint can you do trials with different cure times with the chrome? Let one cure 36 hrs, one 24 hrs, one 12 hrs one maybe 1 hr air dry and 1hr in the dehydrator. I would like to see what effect the 2k clear has on the chrome that has been cured for different times. It would be good to see where it fails to look good with the clear.
Thank you for the wonderful review. I have not purchased this item, but from what I can see in the video, the liquid appears brown and turns shiny as it dries, which is very similar to Born Mirror by Toamil, Japan. I suspect that this product uses a silver-based (Ag) paint rather than aluminum, which is what most "chrome" paints contain. I am looking forward to your review of the clear coat.
Great video and great product! Can you apply the chrome directly on top of the Tamiya TS-14, and then a candy color, or it needs the 2K on top of the chrome before the candy?
Wow! I wonder if this will fix the chrome that I accidentally blasted off my trucks rim when I was pressure washing it. Rims are chrome on plastic and I was using a heated pressure washer. Clearly it was a way too hot for that area.
This looks amazing. I have a few questions, I hope you can answer these in a follwing video. The Tamiya is a lacquer, so this should work on top of all lacquer paints? How durable is it in a bare rub test? Will a gloss lacquer clear coat work on top of this instead of 2K or will that dull the chrome reflectivness? I love all your videos. Thank you so much.
The packaging says it "MUST" go over a 2K gloss. Do we know if it works over and under, some of the other chrome-safe varnishes? Like Aqua Gloss and Vallejo Polyurethane Gloss?
awesome stuff!! Going to get some now! BTW what did ya think of Maiden in worcester?....wish I ran into you...was looking for you to say hi. Myself?...didn't think it was as an impressive show as I have seen in the past But DCU is a smaller venue than most....also wish they played a bit more of their older stuff anyway , thanks for the great product videos Still looking for that perfect gold chrome for a C-3PO I have.
Thanks again for another great interview. Question for us modelers: have you yet tested the application of decals on this chrome paint? I found that other chromes (like Revell Germany's "Chrom") do not work well with decals, even when not using any form of decal softeners, etc.
I don't remember a gold tone when I did a light coat. It comes out kinda green/ yellow and will dry chrome. I would guess even a light coat would still dry to be chrome
Where was this a month ago?! I've been fighting with chromes for weeks for a T800 skull I'm doing. A-Stand (Alclad) is far too fragile. One fingerprint and it's gone. Eventually I settled on greenstuffworld chrome for airbrush which was better for durability but still not quite enough so I used a Vallejo polyurethane varnish to protect it which isn't perfect but it's the best I could manage. Had terrible results from aqua gloss. I did try the Mr Color Super Metallic chrome silver 2. When suuuuper diluted it does work but it's not quite as nice as the GSW or A-Stand. Harder-wearing though
Well I bought Revell chrome spray after watching your video.I mold my own pieces from white acrylic.I was astonished with the quality of the finish. No primer necesarry.Appreciate that you feel this product has certain advantages. But is the chrome finish better than Revell?
Ah....I see you have answered this question already.Fortunately I don't need to add any clear colour over the top of the Revell. And I don't need to touch it once in place.Awaiting your follow up video with interest.
Just ordered a jar. A little nervous as to what black to use for the base other than the Tamiya you used for the demo. Would be I interested in any other non 2k gloss blacks that may also work for the base.
I may have missed it, how durable is it and how do you protect it with a clear coat? Any additional information would be great to see. I'll be looking for your next video!
This is exactly what I need for my 1:12 Bentley Blower where it has a silver gold radiator and chrome headlights …….
PERFECT!
The chrome look is getting better and better

Thanks for the demonstration. This is a great chrome paint. I really like that it could also be brush painted and still look good.
Totally blown away, as always, thanks for what you do Robert.
Im blown away, that stuff is absolutely incredible! 😮
Seeing the Metropolis pt 2 album there made me go back and listen to dream theater. I havent listened to them in over 10 years!
Check out the new track on TH-cam called Night Terror, also I love their latest View From The Top Of the World
Barbatos. Is there a paint booth you recommend that won't break the bank and will work in an apartment?
Yeah, check out my video on a booth from Amazon, that one works great

By far some of the best spray on chrome I’ve ever seen!
This has earned by sub to you. Been watching more of your videos and the desire to try new stuff and experiment has given you an edge compared to many hobby YTers.
Welcome aboard my friend 👍
That is amazing. Can't wait to see it clear coated and candy coated. Hope it keeps it's luster.
WOW! That looks amazing. I'm torn between that and my beloved SMS Chrome line.
I definitely need to see that upcoming video with the 2K on it.
"2K"???
Awesome chrome paint! I think it is worth it even though it is expensive. Thank you for the tip! Take care everyone!!
That's an awesome product!.... i am blowned away by the buff!
That’s a nice chrome, love the orange cleaner too.
That chrome is awesome, ordered a bottle immediately!!! Can’t wait for the 2k black to come back in stock
Wow! I’ve never had success with chrome and now this comes along and I’m sorely tempted to pinch pennies and buy a bottle!
Im pretty blown away by this paint ,that is really cool
Thanks for the quick informational video Robert an I appreciate the time an effort you put into are videos 👍🏻👍🏻

VERY excited to see what this can do with a top coat! It'll cost me an arm and a leg to get in Canada but man, might be worth it
I see my favorite dream theater album

WOW. And I just received a bottle of Alclad and bottle of their black. Can't wait to see try this stuff. Thanks.
Wow, awesome product, thanks for another great review Robert.
That intro sounds a bit familiar to me, I like watchmakers too!! Great channel thanks for it, I have learned a lot .
I like the fact that I can brush it on!
Just ordered one! Thanks Robert! You are the best.
That is definitely a pretty wicked chrome paint i must say. 🤘
Looks super dope, and I hope it'll handle clear colors.
That wants me to take one of my military models and trying to paint it with the chrome. Nice demonstration ❤
Wow. Great looking product. Curious to see what clear candy colors look like over it. Maybe you can add that to the clear coat video too. 😎
I like these chromes
Great video, fantastic paint, thank you
Awesome chrome paint!
this is pretty impressive! Thanks for sharing
Thanks for doing this so fast!
The question with every chrome paint is what clear works? And is that clear readily available?
Reminds me of the Born chrome paint
I know you mentioned top coating, but can you use this with colored clears for candy?
“Gold chrome is the unicorn of paint.” Missed opportunity to say that gold chrome is the Phenex of paint
What is Phenex?,if it's Phoenix, this is how it's spelled PHOENIX.
i remember going to the art supply store as a kid in the early 90s wanting gold paint, and none of that paint ever did what I really wanted it to do
@@josephherman5790 Phenex is the gold Unicorn-like mobile suit from Narrative. And yes, while the mythical bird is spelled Phoenix, the golden mobile suit is in fact spelled Phenex (and also pronounced differently).
Wow, that is absolutely amazing! I am blown away for sure. Where can I purchase this item? Thanks, and I can't wait for the gloss coating video.
The link to purchase it is in the description below the video
What sorcery is this
Thanks for making a video about this! I heard about this chrome paint and wanted to see a video about it before buying. Just a quick question, is it somewhat durable without any topcoat? I noticed in his instructions he recommended a 2k clear with different mixing ratios than normal
The maker told me that if you use the regular mixture of 2k, the chrome may end up slightly warmer looking, but still works
Looks awesome :) A shame I can't get it here in Sweden
Proscale Paints from UK have a similar approach. They even have their own specially formulated 2k clear for the gloss coat just like this one. They ship anywhere.
Awesome video love that chrome
Love the chrome
It seems like a vary virtual paint an it looks like it covers nicely

Wow! Looks great!
IF they come out with a version that has less of a yellow/green tint I'm sold

Wonder what would happen if you "dipped" a plastic piece into it? Like a bumper to a car kit?
It works, I saw a video from the people who make it. As long as the object is glossy first
Love the looks and the ease of this compared to alclad. How durable is it and is it going to require a 2k clear coat?
Wow! I wonder if this will fix the chrome that I accidentally blasted off my trucks rim when I was pressure washing it. Rims are chrome on plastic and I was using a heated pressure washer. Clearly it was a way too hot for that area.
Which has a better chrome look, alclad chrome or ultralumen?
Ultra for sure. One of the best chromes I've ever seen. Of coarse it's not cheap so if price is a factor then go with his other chrome, the Duralumen
Wow that’s a crazy good chrome! Does it need a gloss black base or can it go on any base/bare plastic?
Gloss black or grey is best but other colors work too. Check out my latest video on the base recommendations

That's the best spray can I've tested. The absolute best is 2K Gloss Black but that has to be airbrushed . I sell that at Gundam Pros

Damn right on
What happens when you spray it on white? Straight to the plastic?
Thank you !!!
It says that it needs to be baked to set in the chrome or wait a week for it to dry 😳. Can it be handled at all before then?
So can it be dry brushed on???

Yes I did a full video on that right after this one
Amazing! 😳👍
Incredible!!! How to get that in Europe (France). That is the question as Digital Armory doesn’t ship to France 😢
Does it work on a bumper and how much would I need to
Can u dry it with a heat gun?
Yes

Wonder if it works on Tamiya X-1
Can you apply it straight on tamiya, or do you need a 2k?
