Took my 2+ carat ring into a local jeweler, supposedly honest, well-known. I wanted an appraisal. He wouldn't do it in front of me wanted me to leave it, maybe a couple hours, maybe overnight. Then he said he could do it but had to "take it in the back". Gave some kind of excuse. I could just see him stealing it and putting a fake back in the ring. I didn't know any better, but I noped out of there. Good thing. Apparently they should be able to do it in front of you.
The ring is a symbol and is something that the woman will hopefully wear everyday for the rest of her life. I agree to an extent that if you have to save up the money then it might be better spent on a house or something, but at the same time, if you can afford it why not?
Thank you for this channel! I was following someone who also made AH videos, but one morning I woke up and they'd deleted all their vids! Thankfully I came across yours! Buy a vintage ring on etsy thats not a fuckin diamond and boom, unique beautiful not insanely priced ring. I got a MaSsIvE opal with diamonds around for like 600$ and i look like a damn queen.
Opal is my favorite! Diamond is my birthstone 😒 fortunately, I have my grandmothers ring for when that time comes. Cant imagine spending thousands on a ring
This is also my question. Makes me think that the guy appraise the rings according to their selling/reselling price and the girl was appraising rings as if they were in a pawnshop. Maybe same job description but different goal.
Kyle Corrie has nothing to do with how “good” they are at the job, the end price they’re appraising each ring for could be resell value, original selling value/estimate...it doesn’t say what they’re appraising FOR. That’s the problem with this video.
The Korean guy may probably see this as a marketing opportunity. He is smart. He may in fact intentionally overprice these diamonds to invite customers. Then, when you see him, he will give you an actual price or the lower price. Between the two of them, one would immediately think of going to the Korean guy and dismiss the woman altogether.
I'm just here to tell that diamonds aren't rare but the industry puts a cap on how many diamonds get to be on the market to keep the prices high. A self made limitation so people fight over them lmao. ALSO there is literally a way to make diamonts in a lab and the only thing that can tell the diffrence is a special machiene. Diamond merchers fight so hard against them, saying a natural diamond is somehow better and that's the TEA. If you want the source I can find it for you.
Wow such different evaluations. I am looking to have a high value ring appraised and now I'm afraid I'll get a Lisa. Actually my fear now is that appraisals aren't at all accurate. If they were these would be alot closer. Feels more like its just guessing and everything is up for interpretation. Shouldn't there be a standard? Really confused more than ever now.
Lisa is complementing the "customers" and appraising a more affordable price. That is some serious professional work. I know nothing about her and i am already 100% sure that if i would live in the area she works in and i would need a ring like that, i would go to her. She probably makes huge money and is respected by people . Nice woman.A beauty too :) .
Inclusions in a natural stone or gem is about particles , fragments and maybe gas bubbles or imperfections in appearance that are included in a gemstone/rock which makes them look unique and natural.
Lisa looks like she just ripped her lashes off from the club. Then As/Is called her to ask her to be in a video so she put it back on. She didn't even have a protractor like Peter... Lisa, how dare you? LOL
If you want one there are totally was to make them more affordable. The best thing to do is get out of a mall and find a trusted local jeweller to work with you so you get what you want at a price you can afford. (Like smaller nice stone or larger stone with low colour/lots of inclusions/lower quality) Or don’t do a diamond. Or do a tinny diamond. Or find something second hand. Theres always a way if it means something to you.
Do you know how the industry increases the prices like Peter saying a 500 dollar piece cost 4500 , that’s how jewelers in real life increases their pieces
Comparing to Lisa's bright and white, Peter can describe diamond with in-trade words like "SI, culet and inclusion", especially he knows the cutting. And all this stuff will affect the price on diamond
I've been working at a shop for a while and so has my husband, it's a family jewelry store. & I gotta say the lady was giving a better average price while the dude was giving kind of a retail/online price .. all beautiful & stunning rings🖤
What a unfair test. The valuer's should of been asked how much thay would pay out of there own pocket for the rings. There are many different prices that could be attached to jewellery high end retail, low end retail, insurance valuation, and the most import price and only real price it what someone is actually willing to pay for your ring. The easiest way to make customer happy is to overvalue the items and then say "oh but we don't actually but jewellery" don't believe the hype! If you want a good deal on a diamond rings avoid the high street and look for established jewels that deal in pre owned jewellery.
Are they comparing their appraisals to the purchase price? Could there be a lot of price differences because of timing? Current appraisal value versus purchase price from years back? Edit: not referring to appraiser vs appraiser differences.
Unpopular opinion, but I love smaller rings and diamonds compared to large ones. I’ve got small fingers so a large ring would look MASSIVE on me, and I love the look of a small dainty ring
Peter was market or appraisal value of what its worth lisa was appraising at street value or the value you could buy it online, or a common market....in my opinion you want both appraisals done since most offer well under appraised values
Not going to bother finishing watching because I thought the whole point was to have them guess the price and to know the actual price, but no one knows the price, so pointless.
Personally I'd rather have a larger stone of some other material (topaz or morganite maybe) with maybe small diamonds/cz surrounding it or on the band. Diamonds are overpriced and kind of boring for me.
RonHeartsMe I think for the most part people like having diamonds instead because of the hardness of it . Diamonds hardness grading is a 10 and the hardest stone . If you plan on wearing the ring on a daily bases and for the rest of your life. You’d want something that will potentially last for ever to . There are so many beautiful stones out there although the hardness of them are not quite high. They end up breaking after a few years or scratching on the surface . Morganite is a beautiful stone though . It’s hardness is an 8 it could last a decent amount of years although if exposed to the sun too much , or could reduce the color of the stone . Kind of like bleaching it .
Who cares what your wedding ring costs, it's the sentimental value that's priceless. 12k or 20 euro, should not matter, that person wants to spend the rest if their life with you
A lot of people say they want to spend their life with you, but what they really mean is, i want to use you until I get bored and discard you. The price of the ring relative to their budget is a measure of how serious they are.

Moral of the story : if you have to estimate a diamond, go to several experts
Took my 2+ carat ring into a local jeweler, supposedly honest, well-known. I wanted an appraisal. He wouldn't do it in front of me wanted me to leave it, maybe a couple hours, maybe overnight. Then he said he could do it but had to "take it in the back". Gave some kind of excuse. I could just see him stealing it and putting a fake back in the ring. I didn't know any better, but I noped out of there. Good thing. Apparently they should be able to do it in front of you.
Tbh diamonds are overrated, I dont understand why would you buy just a ring for such a big price. Its not a ring you are married to.
And yet graveyards are full of people who fought over diamonds, jewels, and gold.
My husband listened to me and spent only 150 on a sapphire ring. It suits me so well and I’m so proud.
The ring is a symbol and is something that the woman will hopefully wear everyday for the rest of her life. I agree to an extent that if you have to save up the money then it might be better spent on a house or something, but at the same time, if you can afford it why not?
I thought the same thing! But then I found my own engagement ring that was 1 ct diamond for only $100 which is a STEAL 😍😍😍
I didn’t even buy my wife a ring. Save money
Thank you for this channel! I was following someone who also made AH videos, but one morning I woke up and they'd deleted all their vids! Thankfully I came across yours! For some reason these feel lighter and with more momentum, if that makes sense ? Idk but I feel like I get more out of these... Happier, more joyful feelings, too. Thanks again

I think it’s hard when the ladies weren’t sure what the ring cost in the first place ....
LISA WIN 👍👍👍
Buy a vintage ring on etsy thats not a fuckin diamond and boom, unique beautiful not insanely priced ring. I got a MaSsIvE opal with diamonds around for like 600$ and i look like a damn queen.
mary wolfcin opal 😬
@@krs123247 diamonds 😷
Opal is my birthstone
Was it a real opal though
@@Maria-il1nn lol of course ive had it resized and insured. It's an opal
Opal is my favorite! Diamond is my birthstone 😒 fortunately, I have my grandmothers ring for when that time comes. Cant imagine spending thousands on a ring
I’m sorry but the doctor who box was the best thing in this video 😂
First time seeing the ring :
LISA : "OMGGGGG 😍😍😍😍😍😍 AWWWWW"
PETER : "First I see the metal type..." 🤓
Hey can you possibly give us links to their services in case we'd like our jewellery appraised?
As an appraiser you cannot give estimates that way. There is a guideline for the price of diamond and for the karat and weight of the gold.
As a Gemologist this whole video is so painful on so many levels. 🤦♀️ These people aren't appraisers.
why are their estimates sooo different?
Are you under the impression that everyone is equally good at their job?
This is also my question. Makes me think that the guy appraise the rings according to their selling/reselling price and the girl was appraising rings as if they were in a pawnshop. Maybe same job description but different goal.
Because diamonds have no value over what sellers can get people to pay for them. They are not rare nor that expensive to source.
Kyle Corrie bruh
Kyle Corrie has nothing to do with how “good” they are at the job, the end price they’re appraising each ring for could be resell value, original selling value/estimate...it doesn’t say what they’re appraising FOR. That’s the problem with this video.
The Korean guy may probably see this as a marketing opportunity. He is smart. He may in fact intentionally overprice these diamonds to invite customers. Then, when you see him, he will give you an actual price or the lower price. Between the two of them, one would immediately think of going to the Korean guy and dismiss the woman altogether.
Im a jewelry wholesale business. That ring cost around $500-750

Thank you. This is what I came to the comment section for.
Is it black diamond if test or check using XRF results : Ti=0.352, Fe=96.36, Cu=0.380, Zn=0.055, Sn=2.60 and Au=0.241 ?
Peter sounds like a doctor when he’s explaining the diamonds
I'd def trust the guy's word.

I love the girls ring was in a TARDIS box saying Will You Be My Companion? I’m a huge Doctor Who fan.
Inclusions in a natural stone or gem is about particles , fragments and maybe gas bubbles or imperfections in appearance that are included in a gemstone/rock which makes them look unique and natural.
“Well if that’s the case you got a really good deal!”
Adding the big halo makes it look so huge and showy when in reality the diamond is just over a carat lol this is why I prefer a solitaire🙈
I'd buy rings from her and sell them to him and never work again!
Lisa looks like she just ripped her lashes off from the club. Then As/Is called her to ask her to be in a video so she put it back on. She didn't even have a protractor like Peter... Lisa, how dare you? LOL
Sorry for writing you, just out of curiosity your page come up on my suggested friend lists so I was just wondering if I knew you from somewhere???
Peter is a pro. Lisa seems like a newbie.
Also I love how I understand everything they talk about hehehe
It’s clean!!
Wll i will never have a real one... Im not even sure i get one at all
If you want one there are totally was to make them more affordable. The best thing to do is get out of a mall and find a trusted local jeweller to work with you so you get what you want at a price you can afford. (Like smaller nice stone or larger stone with low colour/lots of inclusions/lower quality)
Or don’t do a diamond. Or do a tinny diamond. Or find something second hand. Theres always a way if it means something to you.
Buy a cubic zirconia ring, you can get beautiful rings from $150 AUD to $350 AUD and because they're cheap it won't matter if it gets lost or stolen
Huge difference.
Bwahahaha don’t go to Lisa if you’re looking to sell your diamonds
“I like the box more, DONT PUT THAT ON THERE!”
*puts it in the video*
Can we get an update on that relationship? Loll
Sounds like they're just guessing, they don't know.
“It is a little round and out of shape” 🤣🤣🥶
Do you know how the industry increases the prices like Peter saying a 500 dollar piece cost 4500 , that’s how jewelers in real life increases their pieces
Sorry for writing you, just out of curiosity your page come up on my suggested friend lists so I was just wondering if I knew you from somewhere??
Who here remembers Julie from the guess the manicure 💅 prices 😂😂
This would’ve been so much better if they actually knew how much they paid for the rings isn’t that the whole point 🤷🏽
Comparing to Lisa's bright and white, Peter can describe diamond with in-trade words like "SI, culet and inclusion", especially he knows the cutting. And all this stuff will affect the price on diamond
I've been working at a shop for a while and so has my husband, it's a family jewelry store. & I gotta say the lady was giving a better average price while the dude was giving kind of a retail/online price
.. all beautiful & stunning rings🖤
Every time Peter gets it wrong
Peter: 'You got a really good deal'
$580 was for the setting I’m sure if you already had the stone 🤔
Interesting to see such a difference in each appraisal..
Maybe not get the rings appraised..lol
Fun to watch
Unpopular opinion, but I love smaller rings and diamonds compared to large ones. I’ve got small fingers so a large ring would look MASSIVE on me, and I love the look of a small dainty ring
Peter was market or appraisal value of what its worth lisa was appraising at street value or the value you could buy it online, or a common market....in my opinion you want both appraisals done since most offer well under appraised values
Not going to bother finishing watching because I thought the whole point was to have them guess the price and to know the actual price, but no one knows the price, so pointless.
I feel so lucky to get a ring passed down from my grandmother. She’s so special to me.
@@anniemaymcneely2013 and what if their budget is poor, can't afford a ring that costs a few thousand? Does that mean they're not serious? And expensive ring in ratio if how much you earn is stupid.
