I believe bottom beam main bar lapping is provided up to L/8 from the face of column is have been ban. Because during earthquake join of building face most stress. Like beam and column join. Lapping is provided 2d(d- effective depth of beam) away from face of column. So it is simple. We just need to add 2d + LD. If there are more numbers of bars. We just need to avoid midspan' s L/4 distance(L- effective span) and 2d from face of column and keep minimum of 1.3m distance between 2 center of lapping. If lapping length is 550mm. It's center would be 275mm, other rod's lapping should be provided 1.3m away. If we have started our first lap at 2d from face of column. Then next lap should be provided at 2d+275+1300 continue in same manner If it is not possible we should provide lapping between other other columns.
In this example it's m so take m. If it's feet take feet and so on. When u divide something with a constant the unit remains unchanged haha. Basic. I hope this cleared ur doubt
