@Alessandro Casagranda when she said that she hadn't seen him in 2 days and he had disappeared from their house my first thought was that he was sick of her and ran away. Genuinely though if someone did all that for me I'd welcome them to my home at anytime and cook some food for them as well as offer a gift. When she yelled to get out, yeah I understand why he'd lock himself up in there lol
I remember being massively underleveled for this ... so when I got in the painting, I was pretty much stuck. I had to scurry up to a boulder where the trolls couldn't reach me. Then I kept shooting arrows at them, running down to collect the arrows, and repeat for like an hour. Finally, I killed them! It was crazy how good I felt after that.
This quest was so unexpected, yet so fun. It was truly underrated and still is. Deservedly, people are starting to look back much more fondly at the very creative and diverse world of Oblivion.
The idea is so creative and interesting, even if other games have done similar like Mario I suppose. Can you imagine if they revisited the idea in the next game with visuals on par with god of war ragnarok
this was one of those quest where years later I've thought back to it at multiple times, I remember completing that quest and walking out of that house like what the f just happened in there.
Well over 10 years ago yet the memories return frequently. I guess it’s a pretty meta / trippy / unique / liminal / creative idea for a side quest. When I look at paintings now irl I visualise other worlds behind the scenes of canvases.
theres a way to avoid killing the trolls at all-once your in the painting start following the route that this player took however, once you get to the first troll keep going to the left until you see the desertish parts. there will be a troll by the body-diont engage it, just run around it and search the body. snatch the brush and run back to the painter, the troll will follow you though the portal thats made (somehow-seeing as he was nowhere near me as i went though) but townspeeps will kill it
One of the most magnificent quests in the game! And I obsolutely love it, the atmosphere, the idea itself, just amazing...Omg, i want my childhood to return sooo badly..
LOL, I got to the body with a mass of Trolls chasing me. Grabbed the brush then jumped up into the trees and higher boulders and lost the trolls behind me. Met up with Rythe and got out of the painted world!!
I don’t remember it being that short, but I guess that’s all there was to it. They really should’ve made this much deeper, could’ve been like a mini-game inside the game itself. Maybe the Skyblivion team will try to expand on it…
When I first found this quest I was mainly scoping random houses for silverware etc to sell to the thieves guild 😂😂 I came into the house and the wife asked for my help and suddenly i in the painting and my character was maybe level 4 or something like that I don't remember how I ever managed to complete the quest with just 6 bottles of turpentine 😂
The painter will help fight them. You can bring back one at a time and hit each one with a turpentine. After fighting the trolls, the painter got confused on where he was, so I had to beat him unconscious, to get him out to the right area again, then he painted the door.
A friend of mine ran a DnD one-shot based on this quest! It was a lot of fun, took five hours, and included bakery business cards, saving a tiny cat called Helgi and a grandma reading fantasy smut to a blind guy in our party. The entire thing was pure chaos, it was great
once the townspeople have finished killing it loot the troll body for the painted troll fat-nice to sell or combine in alchemy. I wouldnt help the townspeople kill the troll unless your feeling generous. i helped and ended up whacking a town guard and they fined me 60 for it
what level are you cuz i am at level 2 doing this quest and those dudes take a billion hits to die yes i could set it to easy mode but where is the fun in that.
bro i went into the painting not realizing how underleveled i was and i can’t get out so i have to reload a save from way before it’s so fucking annoying. this game doesn’t give you a heads up on when you cant complete a level it lets you do what you want a little too much lol
7:03: Lol!
Nothing funnier than Oblivion AI
🤣
6:57: When you're helping a customer in a store and it's 8.59
7:03: 9.00
Now I understand why her husband decided to be imprisoned inside the painting😅
"Please share the hospitality of our home -- YOU'VE GOT TO LEAVE! NOW!"
Poor husband! now I understand why he decided to be imprisoned inside the painting😂

I had a similar experience but I had to resort to a recent save before I started it .... Waiting till I'm either stronger or gonna use this as a guide
Same same.
WAIT WHAT LEVEL SHOULS I BE
This quest was so unexpected, yet so fun. It was truly underrated and still is.

I say, be a child once in a while. Being an adult gets old
I loved the end. God I love Oblivion.
Fun fact: The Brush of Truepaint is made out of Dibella's hair.
Best quest!
Sigh Oblivion was so much prettier than Skyrim.
bigguscurlyus what, no. Have you seen the character models?
Televised Water Polo piss off
Thought I was the only one.
I think that has to do with the locations. Cyrodiil is warm & sunny, Skyrim is dark & cold.
I agree. The animations and graphics were 10x better in Skyrim, but Oblivion had the better story line.
LOL, I got to the body with a mass of Trolls chasing me. Grabbed the brush then jumped up into the trees and higher boulders and lost the trolls behind me. Met up with Rythe and got out of the painted world!!
7:02 Lol friggin Oblivion.
