Never heard of it, 1999 was a unique year with such vivid cinema
Lots of stories centered on interpersonal relationships
i will always remember this movie, i watched this with my mom and there were things they do as a mother and daughter that we do too, i remembered my mom laughing and teasing me, how we both are like/same with them. i rolled my eyes but laughed with her after.
25 years old!
emotionally heartfelt and wonderfully acted Sarandon and Portman have terrific chemistry and really know how to emote when they do it's a very strong story of a mother learning to let go of her daughter, something that we all must face at some point in our lives letting go, love, honesty, adjustment, inner conflict, self-doubt and attempting to rise above the inevitable ties into the plot dramatically well it's also a real tear jerker, too
The movie turns 20 today!
It was almost confusing telling this movie apart and Where the Heart Is since Natalie is in both
oh, I clicked this cos i thought its that other movie, so you're right
AGREED
There needs to be a sequel where Natalie character is a mother and Millie Bobby Brown plays her daughter
Or not
Millie Bobby looks older than Natalie now so it wouldn’t work

Lady Bird vibes here. Anyone else?
it looks the same thing!
I thought the exact same thing!
When lady bird is the mother
This movie is sooo good. Way better than lady bird !!
her voice kinda sounds like lady bird's as well
0:28 for a moment she looked like audrey hepburn
She does look like Audrey Hepburn.
She always does.
True, except Natalie is wayyyyyyy prettier than Audrey Hepburn! But she definitely has that classic look that Audrey had for sure.
Ok thanks TH-cam algorithm
Anyone remember when hollywood did movies that were not about super heroes or disney remakes?
No, I'm too young. You're telling me there really was a time where Hollywood wasn't obsessed with remakes and superheroes?
No its like 1000 years ago
They still do. Nobody watches them.
20 years ago life and movies were much better than now.
What went wrong with the world. Life is not enjoyable as the 80es and 90es.
couldn't agree more...
I love this movie, Natalie Portman’s performance is great 👍👍👍
this movie much better and deeper than the trailer advertised
Okay I felt like I already watched the movie through the trailer lol
the trailer makes the movie seem upbeat
My favorite Natalie Portman movie ❤️❤️❤️
Where the Heart is was similar. These were here between Star Wars movies movies...
I loves those camera work. It's living.
Not gonna cap this is prolly Natalie Portman's best performance aside from The Professional
oh man, I have vague memory of watching clips of this somewhere but never watched the movie. Why does it feel like it hits home so much to the point that I even feel a little teary wtf O_o
Her award nominations started in this movie.
this is the original lady bird.
Natalie appeared in the Phantom Menace the Same Year
I loved this movie. I should rewatch it.
the beginning story of gilmore girls lol
I miss that movie man's voice explaining the plot to me.
Where'd he go?
He died.
Noooooooooo.
Now my weekend is doomed.
My recommendation, yes
Back in 99 Natalie was my first celebrity crush when I was wee 7 year old lad 😍
One of my favorite movies
One of my favourites ❤
Natalie Portman one of my favourite celebrity crush ever 😍😍😍😍😍
Remembered this movie from my childhood, couldn't remember the name
Ladybird meets white oleander looks awesome
I remember this movie, wow.
Not getting along with one of your parents is a painful thing. That I can tell you
Way way better story line than ladybird
And to think that this is the role that gave Natalie Portman an oscar.

I just found out this movie will be on the tv today and I´ve never seen it... will set things right today :)
I think I remember this movie.
Great movie
Lol damn straight nobody misses Wisconsin lol 😂 best line ever ❤
Saw this movie wayyy back when.. and I hated it because it was too much of an odd parallel between my relationship with my own mother...😣😣🤦🤦 Now at 34 just seeing the trailer, after all these years makes me do that whole laugh/cry thing....😂😂😭😭😂😭😂😭😂😭😂
Thank you so much for your video :)
I seriously thought it was Millie Bobby Brown
Yup! I see the resemblance!
Giving Disney ideas for a Padme Amadala prequel?
Yeah me too
@Beth black Not really. Millie is truly a cute girl, but she doesn't come near to Natalie. I don't even see their resemblance, to be honest.
exactly
WHERE CAN I SEE ONLINE THIS MOVIE...?
is this the book written by Steve Jobs' younger sister?
lady bird but make it 90s with roles reversed
not seen this movie, is it good?
A movie about Steve Jobs biogical Mom... written by his sister Mona Simpson. Strange.
I just read _Small Fry_ the autobiography by Steve Job’s daughter Lisa Brennan-Jobs. There is a chapter focused on her relationship with her writer Aunt Mona Simpson, and how she incorporates real people, events, and aspects from her life in her fiction.
I couldn’t help but think that the concept of a straight laced daughter’s relationship with her free spirited hippie mother who goes from man to man isn’t at least partially based on Lisa Brennan-Jobs and Chrisann Brennan.
And Mona Simpson’s next book _A Regular Guy_ is about a girl born out of wedlock and raised by hippies in communes reconnecting with her absent multi-millionaire tech CEO father. Mona acknowledges straight up that it’s based on Lisa and Steve.
This movie came out the last Era of good film making. After Star Wars and Lord of the Rings, everything since has been a waste of hard earned money.
um... the algorithm?
That's a movie coming out in 1999 since the year I was born
Alguien ka tiene?
michael jackson is a speed demon!
you didnt search for this amirite
☹
They look nothing alike
This is not a great movie but Susan Sarandon was hot and Natalie Portman was cute the only good part is when they are at the beach when Susan tells Natalie she has a cute body and should show it off and she didn't want to but she should of she had a nice body and Susan should of worn a two-piece swimsuit not a one piece.
There is no change of portman
I purchased what I thought would be the first of many portmans in 1998 and it still works like a charm. These things are top quality.
¿Y el desnudo de Natalie Portman?
Lady bird vibes
💔💔💔💔
Adele was the biggest pick-me ever.
LMAO WHAT IS THIS GILMORE GIRLS
I hated this movie then and hate this movie even more now.
Lol your comment caught me off guard.
@@morganelizabeth7883 Lol Sorry. It just has always given me mega negative vibes and also, not every daughter has this ugly dysfunctional relationship with their moms. Sheesh.
Cat MeNot Oh no you don’t have to apologize. I wasn’t a big fan either, as I have a great relationship with my mother, so it was hard to watch. I’ve noticed movies rarely portray a strong mother/daughter bond without hostility involved.
Cat MeNot Also your comment made me laugh as it was so unexpected amongst all the positive commenter reviews. 😂
@@morganelizabeth7883 Haha glad you found it so funny! xD
Natalie is such a cutey, too bad she went badshit cuhrazy
Lmao what
Me parece una madre espantosa!!! Además de nunca gustarme esta mujer Sarandon, con la película PEOR!!!
