Eric Estrada has the coolest retro car. All kidding aside I was also an 80's kid and my uncle had an actual IROC and to this day I still think it's one of the coolest body styles ever. I had a kind of trashed RS for a while but still would love to have a nice IROC.
Red 3rd gens are very sentimental to me cause as a child my mom had a red z28 which is also apart of my gearheadedness lots of childhood memories with my mom in them. She has passed so I appreciate the car more
red is awesome I had a banana yellow 89 but the coolest to me is the electric blue. and I don't really care for blue but that color on a iroc looks so good the color was Nik named iroc blue.
mugensamurai I agree I own an 84 trans am. Not floaty at all. Does have alot of body roll compared to some sport cars but ya not floaty. More stiff and sporty
@@headlesnorseman701 once you start to add wonderbar and bracing along with suspension upgrades it gets stupid rigid on there. I had a 91 Z28 with upgraded suspension minus springs and it was rough to say the least.
Beautiful car. Everything done to it is subtle, tasteful, and makes it a great drive. I think the look and design has aged better than the 4th Gen as well with the angular knife edge looks.
In what world is 400hp at the wheels not a lot of power? Sheesh. As for the 3rd gen F-bodies, I think it's sad that they don't get nearly as much attention and love as the Fox Mustangs.

That's because if you find a V8 5 speed Mustang from that era, it's good to go. GM never did a 350/5 speed and you have to dig through a dozen TBI 305 cars with 170 horsepower to find a TPI 305. These cars don't get a lot of love because most of them aren't lovable.
they do not and they are superior cars in almost every way aside from the 305. it needed some key upgrades most notably sub frame connectors and shocks. ford even switched to an identical suspension to the 3rd gen F body for the 2005 mustang. the fox just had the "attitude" that the 3rd gen didnt.
+Martin Espinoza In the sense that most modern cars all look the fuck a like and this still looks pleasant despite the fact that we've gotten used to all the Ford, Chevy, Toyota, Mazda, and Nissan lineup being one similar variation of "oooh look pointless curves and non functional hood scoops." Sure, the 80's had it's fair share of distinct boxy styling but some of them still look good to this day as long as the paint hasn't completely washed away.

But go look at a new Mazda 3 for example. It isn't a bad car but it isn't anything different than most other modern cars. I agree, this whole "giant wheels no tires!" movement is pretty dull. I enjoyed every time they railed against that on Top Gear.

A new car that looks different and still looks good is a rare bird. And Yes the 3rd Gen Camaro is a looker, especially one that looks at least as good as you remember it, if you do. Most people blowing spit wads we're even out of diapers and didn't know how to spell their last names when these cars were new, assuming they would even born yet.
DocWolph Sorry, I've owned an IROC, and they have approximately the same level of design and styling as a Serbian bunker, inside and out. The outside is all clashing angles and the inside looks like the interior factory was having a bad day. There are gaps on a brand new interior you can stuff coins into. The car looks mean, but it also looks pug-ugly. You could compare, say, the bullnose or bricknose OBS F-Series (as opposed to the new old body style from 1992-1997.) They look like a truck but they still look ugly as fk. And the fourth gen looks like a big squashed turd, but I guess that's neither here nor there. That was an era when the Japanese figured out styling, and the Americans forgot it.
I had an 86 IROC, it was my first car and got stolen 3 months after I purchased it. They found it two days later completely stripped and someone dropped a deuce in the back seat. The cops told me it was a serial car thief who would take a dump in all the cars after he was done with them, they called him the turd burgler... boy I miss that car and I hope the turd burgler was eventually caught and handled appropriately...
Because they're not maintained that nicely out here... I see them but they're not that nice... A person would have to restore one to make it that nice... The fact that he in this video was the first owner really complements the build...

I began driving it at 10,000 km. they need so so much work to get them anything near what you'd call good and you're still left with a solid rear axle horse buggy suspension with subframes. find a new love lol this one will cheat on you. reliable and cheap yes. garbage? you bet

+TheKJProductionz Yes that is true, but the GTA had it's draw backs things like the aero wing spoiler, the fibreglass ones are pricy and the digital dash cars can be temperamental, but all in all I love my GTA and it shows nice.
I had a black '87 IROC-Z / Z/28 305 5-speed for about 5 years right after high school. Blacked out the tail lights and, man, that was a fun car to drive around town.
I've never known anyone that had a Gen3 that didn't like it back when they were on the market....SO much better than that ugly Mustang GT. Yuck! Plus the 305TPI Automatic Camaros would smoke the GT every time. Plus it was always some rich kid with the Mustang GT and it made it so much fun to blow their doors off. Hahahaha
I had an 88 and when stock it could edge out stock GT's but I got shut down by fox body's left and right until I started throwing stupid amounts of money under the hood.
Very nice. Always wanted one of those, but in the UK choice was limited, especially since I wanted a V8. Ended up with a '79 Firebird refitted with a 6.6l V8. Lots of fun, and really turns heads (and sets off car alarms) in the UK!
Maybe you have forgotten or subconsciously don't know, but somewhere inside you,theres that little kid version of yourself, and you love this car alot, and even though you are not a little kid anymore, you still love it, therefore when you see it and hear it roar, it makes you smile.
Wow, that is seriously one of the best 3rd gen F-body examples I've ever seen. Love the wheels and the way the car sits. When I was a kid in the 80's I LOVED F-bodies, because a red Camaro looked like the hero car in my favorite cartoon/toy line (Matt Trakker's red flying Camaro with gull wing doors on M.A.S.K), and of course a black Trans-Am was KITT from Knight Rider, my other favorite 80's TV show. I always thought the wraparound rear hatch glass was the coolest thing about the car. Looked very modern to an 80's kid. :-) I have to STRONGLY disagree with the owner's choice to use racing harnesses with no rollover protection, though. Mike you should know better, as well. A race track is one thing (although still not recommended and most sanctioning bodies won't allow it I don't think), but doing so on a public street where a crash could suddenly happen that rolls the car over, that's a huge gamble. And if the car rolls over and you're in a harness with no rollover protection, your potential for serious injury is far higher than if you're using the normal seat belts.
Sorry don't like the wheels, to me it looks like a plain jane iroc. Mine looks way better than this and its all original with a few changes. Just sayin.
Whatareyoudoingyouidiot if you have an iroc with a 350, you can just go to the junk yard and find yourself a 5 speed and refurbish it. Then you can have a 350 with a 5 speed.
I've owned 3 of these cars and worked on even more. I'm currently building my 3rd one now. The look of this car is what I'm shooting for just more power. This car is absolutely beautiful.

My mother had a 1982 Z/28, I loved that car and cemented my love for the 3rd gen Camaro. I get a lot of flak for loving these cars, but they are a nice balance of modern and old school, and have so much potential that most people do not see in them. The only thing I would demand if I had a 3rd gen is a manual transmission, I don't care if I would have to swap out the 305, I have a need to row my own gears. Beautiful car though none the less.

That looks better than any new Camaro. I personally would love to have one tuned up like this one, the only way to improve it would be a slightly wide body kit and deeper wheels, but it's quite stunning as it is
Great video, but I have to strongly disagree with Mike if he was saying that IROCs with fresh stock suspensions were floaty. Those cars bone stock handled like slot cars and were pretty stiffly sprung with no hint of float.
I agree with Carlos on the suspension, I have owned 11 3rd gen Camaro's, I still own and drive my 4th one, an 86 iroc and she handles great with stock suspension, no floating whatsoever
+Carlos Clivilles Yeah, I was going to say my 91 was essentially like riding on bricks; every time you saw a bump you prepared your anus or quickly dodged it like a Mario kart 'nanner peel. Floaty at 110k miles? It aint even. The faster you went the tighter it got.

3rd gens have a special place in my heart. My first Camaro was an 88 IROC. 305 with an auto. Not the fastest thing around, but man I loved driving that thing. Had so much fun in that car. Miss those days.
I also like these cars. Back at the end of 1984 I traded in a 78 Camaro for an 85 Z-28 hardtop with the TPI option and really enjoyed driving it. Thankfully I've been able to keep the car through the years and your right about getting some thumbs up from people when you take it out for a cruise.
idk musto! I had an 85 firebird that was the epitome of what you said about "beaten within an inch of it's life". I took that last inch and it was GLORIOUS!! That car handled like a mad man and it was bone stock. It wasn't "fast" by any means but as far as chasing down quicker cars in high speed corners and late braking I found myself chasing down a lot of cars I shouldn't have by taking good lines and staying off the brakes. I chased down an 06 GTI which totally annihlated me off the line but in the corners I slowly but surely came back to nearly passing the guy. His face was hilarious when he saw what a clapped out ride it was vs his shiny new GTI turbo. :D
This is one of the best ThirdGen Camaros that I have ever seen. The stock-looking 6.3L TPI, updated parts (seats, steering wheel, gauges) and overall configuration---this bad boi should win some awards and recognition! I would have liked to see a PN list of upgrades/modifications, I am really digging that steering wheel. It's been a few years, but I plan on doing my '92 Camaro kind of like this. Great video presentation! This is a wonderful car, a great piece of art.
Was just telling my buddy I never see an iroc z done correctly without the fucking 22" "iroc" replica chrome wheels. finally I've seen one! such a great platform to build from & great body lines.
+Garrett Mort it's so rare to see a muscle/performance car from this era lowered down from the god-awful factory 4x4 stance. This car looks awesome at this ride height, yet still has plenty of ground clearance to make it functional.
4th gen F bodies, and Mustangs from the same time, are just as bad if not worse as far as ride height. Stick your entire fist or more in between the tire and fender on some of those!
+Patrick94GSR Don't worry about lowering worry about stiffening. When I lowered my car up front the spring rates went up by about 60# but it still body rolled more than the stock springs did... I had to run a stiffer front sway bar because the body roll was excessive up front. In the rear the lowering springs would not let the rear end rotate around well at all... changed to a stock height spring with double the spring rate in the rear and the car rotates like a charm.
Muscle car lover here, forget all other expensive cars, have a white 1990 Iroc Z28 convertible, never will sell, have had it forever, very cool to drive.
Remember when my family was going through a rough patch. Mom got her hands on one of these and it soldiered on for us. The only time it broke down on us was when it shut off right before someone ran a red light running from cops. Started right up after they passed by and was our guardian angel on the road until some low lifes stole it. Was going through a list of dream cars and looking back, I decided this may end up as my lifer ride. I even appreciate the four auto and I'm someone who'd only buy sticks for sports cars. Can't wait to have a 3rd gen in my life again.
I bought a brand new '89 red Iroc-Z 5.7 in February of 1989. I had so much fun in that car and it was the best! I am now selling my Dale Earnhardt Intimidator SS (1 of 83) which I also had a lot of fun owning. Fun Fun cars! Thanks for the nice Iroc post!
Awesome extremely. The owner really outdid himself. If I remember this is the car that a lot of military fighter pilots drove. I was an aircraft technician and remember well in the 80s and 90s.
Damn I need one of these in my new future. My dad used to have a red 3rd gen Camaro but sadly sold it due to the fact that my sister couldn't take care of it and let the car to go shit. It was a sad day seeing it go on a flat bed and not drive away. After all those years of owning the car, the money, parts and labor of us putting into it just waisted cause she couldn't wash it or keep up wit maintenance. :( one day I wanna find another one and build it how my father had his.
What a memory! Mine was a '91 305 5 speed, chipped! seam welded full cage, slightly breathed on engine, raced in SCCA showroom stock GT, precursor to Touring1 class. Retrospectoscope says I should have never sold it. Great fun, lots less $$$ than a Porsche, but I think, at least as much fun. If you can find one like this, do it!!
I've got a '92 Camaro. Put in a worked 350 motor, headers, hi-rise manifold, 4 bbl, runs like a beast! Handles great. Looks sharp, love it. Turns heads!
Bought a new 5.7 IROC back in 1987. Everywhere I went always got the thumbs up.Had a summer home at the beach and the girls loved that car. I kept it all stock except for a Stage II Hypertech chip. 30 years later, I do miss it and the girls that came with it. The 80's was the best decade hands down.
When i was a GM mechanic i had an insurance adjuster give my a complete 350 engine that i had removed from a customers truck even though i had informed the insurance that this customers was trying to pull a fast one saying it used oil when it did not, the engine had 47k on it, so i rebuilt it with a machine shop doing the block rods and heads, 365 HP, Stuck it in my iroc only drove it 4k miles, now after 15 years of storage im bringing it out, everybody else has rusted away while mine sat quietly.
Hate to break it to you dude but even if some of them did start to rot, alot of them, and i mean THOUSANDS of irocz s are still in good condition, the real jokes on those who didnt live their youth while they could, and the ones who left them in sheds and abandoned ,left for dead for 20 to 30 years. If you really love that car, drive it , because that shed will only hold it for so long , and when youre on a hospital bed in our final hour i guarantee youll look back and realize it. We only have so much time left in the world, well run out of gas in the next 50 years, . fossil fuels will be outsourced in favor for electric vehicles. Enjoy the car while you still can . Because in the next 50 years, theyre will be no 67 mustangs, 69 chargers, 70 cudas, 69 camaros, iroc zs, trans ams , etc. On the road. No fuel=no v8=no muscle cars.

Its sad, people just dont care about them. Driving my 87 irocz around town i cannot tell you how many times ive had people tell me "hey i used to have one in the 80s , regretted selling it,wish i still had it ..." what ive learned though is it doesent matter if the cars so nice theirs still factory fresh paint, clean interior, , or if its so ratted out you have holes in the floorboard and cracks in the dash. What matters is seeing it on the road,

I had a 1985 Z28 with the 305 TPI engine and everything the IROC had, except for the wheels and tires, front end, and badges and I loved that car sooo much. I should never have sold it. If someone was to offer me a brand new Dodge Challenger SRT Demon (My favorite car currently) or this car ......I'd take the IROC. Great job on the car Mike, and hold on to that thing forever!
every generation car goes thru the phases. Brand new and everyone wants, old that no one wants, up and coming that are getting harder to find, and then just flat out hard to find at a good price. 1st and 2nd gens are clearly the last category. 3rds are in the up and coming, and the 4th gens are the old ones that no one wants. 5ths of course being the brand new and easy to find. In about 10 years the 3rds will join 1 and 2 as classics and be up 20 to 30 percent in value imo
Bad Drivers of Hurst Euless Bedford I'm thinking the same. At 17 I had my first 85 z28 I wrecked it then bought an 89 iroc got it stolen then bought an 88 iroc, my birth year..I regret selling it. I drive a 79 caprice sports coupe now but I'm definitely going to buy another 3rd gen before they get harder to find and prices go up..

I fully restored and modded a 92 RS 25th anniversary. Swapped the 305 for a fuel injected 350 crate. Built the trans and put a new rear end in with 4:10 gears. B&M slap shift, custom 25th anniversary interior and seats. American racing rally rims wrapped in F1 tires. I absolutely love it!
I love a lot of your videos but this takes the cake for me. I absolutely love the 3rd gen F-body platform. I've always been a huge advocate of it and loved it even when everyone else hated them. Now prices are starting to go up and all I can do is sit back and laugh. But it's great hearing you talk about them cause I hear a LOT of things I've always told everyone! I've always said theyre the perfect hot rod. They're modern enough to be efficient, reliable, and safe with fuel injection, disc brakes, and air bags. They're cheap and take to mods crazy well. A beginner can easily jump in for not much money and not be overwhelmed by power but still have enough torque to learn the basics yet what's even better these things handle like a motherf*cker! They're planted and they just stick! It's easy to learn performance handling in these cars. But then there's this amazing platform to build on where nearly the sky's the limit. Great for professionals who want a dedicated performance car. I've always loved these cars and always suggested them to anyone and everyone any chance I get. Some people dog them but that's only cause they've never given it a chance or they DID but they got a lemon and assumed that's just the norm for them. These will no doubt be the next big collector cars from GM and I recommend picking up a good one before prices go through the roof like every other F-body always does. They made more Trans Ams in 1979 than the entire run of Iroc-Zs and everyone knows where Trans Am prices went. Being that much rarer and with so many of them driven into the ground supply and demand is gonna put these out of reach really quick. I love the 3rd gen and I love this video. Thanks for sharing! I remember this car in high school. What I like about this one is that it is lowered and the wheels make it look more modern instead of a dinosaur. That massive hatchback window needs to be tinted. Otherwise I really like it. Much better than the 4th generation Camaro!!!!!!!!

T-Tops are the reason why I became a multiple Fox body owner.
To this day, I love that F body. It was so damn 80's and frankly holds up to today's styling.

He said it "holds up to today's styling", not that its "modern". and Modern styling is increasingly monotonal, everyone looks a lot a like, and that is not a good thing. A new car that looks different and still looks good is a rare bird. This is why retro is so in in the US and much of the world., meaning to interject some of that old imagination into contemporary thinking.
And Yes the 3rd Gen Camaro is a looker, especially one that looks at least as good as you remember it, if you do. Most people blowing spit wads we're even out of diapers and didn't know how to spell their last names when these cars were new, assuming they would even born yet.
DocWolph Sorry, I've owned an IROC, and they have approximately the same level of design and styling as a Serbian bunker, inside and out. The outside is all clashing angles and the inside looks like the interior factory was having a bad day. There are gaps on a brand new interior you can stuff coins into. The car looks mean, but it also looks pug-ugly. You could compare, say, the bullnose or bricknose OBS F-Series (as opposed to the new old body style from 1992-1997.) They look like a truck but they still look ugly as fk. And the fourth gen looks like a big squashed turd, but I guess that's neither here nor there. That was an era when the Japanese figured out styling, and the Americans forgot it.
I had an 86 IROC, it was my first car and got stolen 3 months after I purchased it. They found it two days later completely stripped and someone dropped a deuce in the back seat. The cops told me it was a serial car thief who would take a dump in all the cars after he was done with them, they called him the turd burgler... boy I miss that car and I hope the turd burgler was eventually caught and handled appropriately...

Yep, I used to have a 1988 GTA and loved that car, it came with a customized rear spoiler, like the original, but a little bigger.

I had a black '87 IROC-Z / Z/28 305 5-speed for about 5 years right after high school. Blacked out the tail lights and, man, that was a fun car to drive around town.
I've never known anyone that had a Gen3 that didn't like it back when they were on the market....SO much better than that ugly Mustang GT. Yuck! Plus the 305TPI Automatic Camaros would smoke the GT every time. Plus it was always some rich kid with the Mustang GT and it made it so much fun to blow their doors off. Hahahaha
I had an 88 and when stock it could edge out stock GT's but I got shut down by fox body's left and right until I started throwing stupid amounts of money under the hood.
Very nice. Always wanted one of those, but in the UK choice was limited, especially since I wanted a V8. Ended up with a '79 Firebird refitted with a 6.6l V8. Lots of fun, and really turns heads (and sets off car alarms) in the UK!

Wow, that is seriously one of the best 3rd gen F-body examples I've ever seen. Love the wheels and the way the car sits. When I was a kid in the 80's I LOVED F-bodies, because a red Camaro looked like the hero car in my favorite cartoon/toy line (Matt Trakker's red flying Camaro with gull wing doors on M.A.S.K), and of course a black Trans-Am was KITT from Knight Rider, my other favorite 80's TV show. I always thought the wraparound rear hatch glass was the coolest thing about the car. Looked very modern to an 80's kid. :-)
I have to STRONGLY disagree with the owner's choice to use racing harnesses with no rollover protection, though. Mike you should know better, as well. A race track is one thing (although still not recommended and most sanctioning bodies won't allow it I don't think), but doing so on a public street where a crash could suddenly happen that rolls the car over, that's a huge gamble. And if the car rolls over and you're in a harness with no rollover protection, your potential for serious injury is far higher than if you're using the normal seat belts.

You can get an IROC with a manual. Just not a 350 and a manual. The 5-speed was only available with the 305.
Whatareyoudoingyouidiot if you have an iroc with a 350, you can just go to the junk yard and find yourself a 5 speed and refurbish it. Then you can have a 350 with a 5 speed.
That's when your 350 torque ruins your transmission bud.

My mother had a 1982 Z/28, I loved that car and cemented my love for the 3rd gen Camaro. I get a lot of flak for loving these cars, but they are a nice balance of modern and old school, and have so much potential that most people do not see in them. The only thing I would demand if I had a 3rd gen is a manual transmission, I don't care if I would have to swap out the 305, I have a need to row my own gears. Beautiful car though none the less.

Great video, but I have to strongly disagree with Mike if he was saying that IROCs with fresh stock suspensions were floaty. Those cars bone stock handled like slot cars and were pretty stiffly sprung with no hint of float.

I also like these cars. Back at the end of 1984 I traded in a 78 Camaro for an 85 Z-28 hardtop with the TPI option and really enjoyed driving it. Thankfully I've been able to keep the car through the years and your right about getting some thumbs up from people when you take it out for a cruise.
idk musto! I had an 85 firebird that was the epitome of what you said about "beaten within an inch of it's life". I took that last inch and it was GLORIOUS!! That car handled like a mad man and it was bone stock. It wasn't "fast" by any means but as far as chasing down quicker cars in high speed corners and late braking I found myself chasing down a lot of cars I shouldn't have by taking good lines and staying off the brakes. I chased down an 06 GTI which totally annihlated me off the line but in the corners I slowly but surely came back to nearly passing the guy. His face was hilarious when he saw what a clapped out ride it was vs his shiny new GTI turbo. :D

This is one of the best ThirdGen Camaros that I have ever seen. The stock-looking 6.3L TPI, updated parts (seats, steering wheel, gauges) and overall configuration---this bad boi should win some awards and recognition! I would have liked to see a PN list of upgrades/modifications, I am really digging that steering wheel. It's been a few years, but I plan on doing my '92 Camaro kind of like this. Great video presentation! This is a wonderful car, a great piece of art.

4th gen F bodies, and Mustangs from the same time, are just as bad if not worse as far as ride height. Stick your entire fist or more in between the tire and fender on some of those!

+Patrick94GSR Don't worry about lowering worry about stiffening. When I lowered my car up front the spring rates went up by about 60# but it still body rolled more than the stock springs did... I had to run a stiffer front sway bar because the body roll was excessive up front. In the rear the lowering springs would not let the rear end rotate around well at all... changed to a stock height spring with double the spring rate in the rear and the car rotates like a charm.

Remember when my family was going through a rough patch. Mom got her hands on one of these and it soldiered on for us. The only time it broke down on us was when it shut off right before someone ran a red light running from cops. Started right up after they passed by and was our guardian angel on the road until some low lifes stole it.
Was going through a list of dream cars and looking back, I decided this may end up as my lifer ride. I even appreciate the four auto and I'm someone who'd only buy sticks for sports cars. Can't wait to have a 3rd gen in my life again.
I bought a brand new '89 red Iroc-Z 5.7 in February of 1989. I had so much fun in that car and it was the best! I am now selling my Dale Earnhardt Intimidator SS (1 of 83) which I also had a lot of fun owning. Fun Fun cars! Thanks for the nice Iroc post!

Damn I need one of these in my new future. My dad used to have a red 3rd gen Camaro but sadly sold it due to the fact that my sister couldn't take care of it and let the car to go shit. It was a sad day seeing it go on a flat bed and not drive away. After all those years of owning the car, the money, parts and labor of us putting into it just waisted cause she couldn't wash it or keep up wit maintenance. :( one day I wanna find another one and build it how my father had his.
What a memory! Mine was a '91 305 5 speed, chipped! seam welded full cage, slightly breathed on engine, raced in SCCA showroom stock GT, precursor to Touring1 class. Retrospectoscope says I should have never sold it. Great fun, lots less $$$ than a Porsche, but I think, at least as much fun. If you can find one like this, do it!!

Bought a new 5.7 IROC back in 1987. Everywhere I went always got the thumbs up.Had a summer home at the beach and the girls loved that car. I kept it all stock except for a Stage II Hypertech chip. 30 years later, I do miss it and the girls that came with it. The 80's was the best decade hands down.

When i was a GM mechanic i had an insurance adjuster give my a complete 350 engine that i had removed from a customers truck even though i had informed the insurance that this customers was trying to pull a fast one saying it used oil when it did not, the engine had 47k on it, so i rebuilt it with a machine shop doing the block rods and heads, 365 HP, Stuck it in my iroc only drove it 4k miles, now after 15 years of storage im bringing it out, everybody else has rusted away while mine sat quietly.
Hate to break it to you dude but even if some of them did start to rot, alot of them, and i mean THOUSANDS of irocz s are still in good condition, the real jokes on those who didnt live their youth while they could, and the ones who left them in sheds and abandoned ,left for dead for 20 to 30 years. If you really love that car, drive it , because that shed will only hold it for so long , and when youre on a hospital bed in our final hour i guarantee youll look back and realize it. We only have so much time left in the world, well run out of gas in the next 50 years, . fossil fuels will be outsourced in favor for electric vehicles. Enjoy the car while you still can . Because in the next 50 years, theyre will be no 67 mustangs, 69 chargers, 70 cudas, 69 camaros, iroc zs, trans ams , etc. On the road. No fuel=no v8=no muscle cars.

Its sad, people just dont care about them. Driving my 87 irocz around town i cannot tell you how many times ive had people tell me "hey i used to have one in the 80s , regretted selling it,wish i still had it ..." what ive learned though is it doesent matter if the cars so nice theirs still factory fresh paint, clean interior, , or if its so ratted out you have holes in the floorboard and cracks in the dash. What matters is seeing it on the road,

This was, by far, the most enjoyable car video I've EVER seen on TH-cam. Such a beautiful car. I had a 1985 Z28 with the 305 TPI engine and everything the IROC had, except for the wheels and tires, front end, and badges and I loved that car sooo much. I should never have sold it. If someone was to offer me a brand new Dodge Challenger SRT Demon (My favorite car currently) or this car ......I'd take the IROC. Great job on the car Mike, and hold on to that thing forever!

every generation car goes thru the phases. Brand new and everyone wants, old that no one wants, up and coming that are getting harder to find, and then just flat out hard to find at a good price. 1st and 2nd gens are clearly the last category. 3rds are in the up and coming, and the 4th gens are the old ones that no one wants. 5ths of course being the brand new and easy to find. In about 10 years the 3rds will join 1 and 2 as classics and be up 20 to 30 percent in value imo

I drive a 79 caprice sports coupe now but I'm definitely going to buy another 3rd gen before they get harder to find and prices go up..

I fully restored and modded a 92 RS 25th anniversary. Swapped the 305 for a fuel injected 350 crate. Built the trans and put a new rear end in with 4:10 gears. B&M slap shift, custom 25th anniversary interior and seats. American racing rally rims wrapped in F1 tires. I absolutely love it!

These and the TransAm are the cars that got me into cars. I remember seeing these as a kid. All I drive these days are Camaros.
I love a lot of your videos but this takes the cake for me. I absolutely love the 3rd gen F-body platform. I've always been a huge advocate of it and loved it even when everyone else hated them. Now prices are starting to go up and all I can do is sit back and laugh. But it's great hearing you talk about them cause I hear a LOT of things I've always told everyone! I've always said theyre the perfect hot rod. They're modern enough to be efficient, reliable, and safe with fuel injection, disc brakes, and air bags. They're cheap and take to mods crazy well. A beginner can easily jump in for not much money and not be overwhelmed by power but still have enough torque to learn the basics yet what's even better these things handle like a motherf*cker! They're planted and they just stick! It's easy to learn performance handling in these cars. But then there's this amazing platform to build on where nearly the sky's the limit. Great for professionals who want a dedicated performance car. I've always loved these cars and always suggested them to anyone and everyone any chance I get. Some people dog them but that's only cause they've never given it a chance or they DID but they got a lemon and assumed that's just the norm for them. These will no doubt be the next big collector cars from GM and I recommend picking up a good one before prices go through the roof like every other F-body always does. They made more Trans Ams in 1979 than the entire run of Iroc-Zs and everyone knows where Trans Am prices went. Being that much rarer and with so many of them driven into the ground supply and demand is gonna put these out of reach really quick. I love the 3rd gen and I love this video. Thanks for sharing!
