Hmm, definitely Via Etnea (the main street) and Via Corso. My hotel was on Via Umberto I, it's a long street with many beautiful shops as well. Enjoy the shopping :)@@momentscreatives

Thank you so much for your very well done, informative video! Planning my trip to Sicily in Mid-end of October 2023, thinking of being based in Catania and taking day trips for there would be ideally for me as i won’t be driving. Do you have any lodging recommendations in Catania? Also is it recommended to stay over a day or 2 in Syracuse to visit towns close by, such as Noto, Ragusa? Thank you!

Hi there! Yes, Catania is the perfect base for the exploration of Sicily. I got around the island by train, which is well connected with Messina, Palermo, Syracuse and other cities. I was traveling solo and I stayed in Luxury BB Iolanda, located a 10-minute walk from Catania Central Station. The accommodation was great overall. You can also stay in Syracuse for a couple of days because Noto and Ragusa are best explored from there. I didn't have time so I didn't visit Noto and Ragusa, but hopefully next time :). Enjoy your trip! Hope this helps!

Fabulous video, thank you! What is the best way to get from Catania to Roccella Ionica?

    • @AdventourBegins

Hello! Hmm, Roccella Ionica is not in Sicily, so you would need to take a train to Reggio Calabria Centrale Station and then change to a regional train to Roccella Ionica. Also, you can combine train and bus, but these options generally take hours and are not recommended. Driving is a better option and the ride takes about 3 hours. Hope this helps. :)

Love your videos. Going to stop in Catania on a cruise. 11 hours... shouls I plan a side trip? Taromina or Syracuse? Which would you suggest?

Thank you! 😇Yes, I would definitely plan a side trip, my suggestion is Taormina. Syracuse is also beautiful and historic, but Taormina is perched on a hilltop with stunning views. The ancient theater is spectacular with views of Etna in the background. So, my choice would be Taormina. Both places are well-connected to Catania by train, that's the most affordable option. You need about 3-4 hours in Taormina and you'll probably have some time in Catania since 11 hours is plenty enough. The port in Catania is around a 15-minute walk from the city center. Enjoy your cruise and let me know how it was! :)
